Morning all Flowers

As ever, here's the spreadsheet - making its penultimate appearance

Just this last week before we have our final weigh-in next Monday, so hopefully we can make this a good last few days.

No change for me but hopeful for tomorrow, that’s what’s keeping me going today.
No breakfast
Broccoli and Stilton soup for lunch.
Snacked on olives and feta
Tea will be cod cooked in butter and lemon with asparagus and runner beans.

Clothes feel better but my stomach still sticks out. I think my muscles have just given up!

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 18/03/2019 19:12

Thanks venus that moussaka sounds delicious. I don't 'get' fish and cheese though!

BIWI · 18/03/2019 19:14

Tonight we're having roast lamb (wouldn't normally do this during the week just for the two of us, but DS1 is home for a few days!). It's studded with garlic.

Along with that, baby courgettes and red peppers, that have been browned in olive oil, and then added to a garlicky tomato and onion sauce.

And fennel, blanched and then braised in butter and with lime juice.

Fennel sounds amazing. When you say braise do you mean cook in water? How long for?

Japonicaflower2 · 18/03/2019 19:45

Thank you for all the suggestions everyone, it's very much appreciated!
Here's to getting started!

Japonicaflower2 · 18/03/2019 19:51

Biwi I thought I had flu last June, one day I was running around after DGSs the next I felt like death warmed up and three days later was in A + E and diagnosed with viral Myocarditis and severe heart failure.
9 months on I am better than I was but I get breathless easily (even after eating a meal ☹️) and seem to have plateaued (unlike my weight!)
I'm definitely going to get the stone off come what may, none of my clothes fit!

SummerSazz · 18/03/2019 20:40

Congrats @tootstastic a fab result!! I lost 4 stone about 9 years ago and it's an amazing transformation. Sadly 2 have at times gone back on and I'm currently +1 on my lowest.

@Doilooklikeatourist I had beer, wine and gin at the weekend and a couple of mouthfuls of brownie. Was +3 today as a result. Annoying as I was down to 11st 0.1lb on sat am sooooo close to 10's AND a normal BMI. So this week as for you the bonus weight plus one needs to come off!!

Pork burgers tonight with salad - I've probably eaten too much cheese today as had a gin hangover but properly back on it tomorrow hope the food at my course has options

SummerSazz · 18/03/2019 20:42

@Japonicaflower2 that sounds like an awful experience Sad. Hope you can find food and exercise (I second Pilates/yoga) to suit you x

BIWI · 18/03/2019 20:45

@SlinkyDinkyDoo

Cut your fennel bulbs into quarters, and boil in salted water for about 7-8 minutes till it's just softening

Drain

Melt a large knob of butter in a saute or deep frying pan, with a splash of oil to stop the butter burning, and then add the fennel. Season with salt and black pepper

Saute it over a medium heat for about 10-15 minutes until it's browning and caramelising, then add the juice of a lime and cook for another minutes or so.

(You need to make sure it's properly cooked - the green stems can be quite tough)

I've officially given up on my scales. I really don't believe the numbers - I highly, highly doubt I am gaining weight, my clothes are falling off me and my belly flab is disappearing. I feel smaller. I look smaller. But my scales are saying I'm gaining?! Bah, humbug.

I achieved a monumental feat of willpower today though. I helped my friend with her daughter's birthday party, and she bought a giant Costco cake - you know the decorated kind, with about an inch of fluffy icing all over it? The smell alone makes me drool, even though I know it's the worst thing I could ever put in my mouth. Poison, poison!

I didn't eat any! There was a time when I could have happily had a giant slice and eaten more later (in secret, natch). But I am not that person anymore.

venusandmars · 18/03/2019 21:22

@japonicaflower2 you are fortunate (although it probably doesn't feel like that). My best friend from school died from myocarditis. She was 29 and had a 3 year old ds and a one year old dd Sad She thought she had a throat infection Sad … She went to lie down because her throat hurt and 20 minutes later her dh went to the bedroom and my friend had died... suddenly, quietly, disastrously.

Please, take care of yourself xx

CeciliaMcFlange · 18/03/2019 21:27

Hello all, just popping after a 3 week absence. My scales broke and I've been off Mumsnet. Anyhoo, I've kept to the plan and am now 13 lbs down overall which i'm delighted with. Back in size 10 trews as well Grin.

I'll catch up with the thread shortly but well done to everyone still here!

venusandmars · 18/03/2019 21:27

@kitemarked well done on the cake avoidance. I think it is a combination of determination (from bring on this thread) and the natural process of being less attracted to sugar. The less we have the less we want / need it.

tootstastic · 18/03/2019 21:59

Thanks for all the support everyone. The (almost) 4st has started to make a huge visual difference with people irl commenting every day now. I still look like I need to lose weight, but I don't think look like a really fat person anymore. Weirdly, I must be, as I still have 5 1/2 stones to lose, but I can't see where that huge amount can come from. It's there somewhere though! I wonder if I look on the mirror and don't see how big I really am?!

9st 5lbs is my eventual target, which would put me just under the middle of my BMI target. If I get to 10st something and I'm happy, then I'll stop, but I remember looking my best at around 9.5. Of course I was much younger then. I was in the low 10s though about 7 years ago now (between a size 10 and a 12) and I remember still feeling like I needed to lose a few pounds and be a size 10....then I had a stressful year and it all started to go back on and I've yo-yo'd within the same few stones ever since.

Through hell or high water this time has to be different! Keep the faith losers 🤘🏻

MiniCooperLover · 19/03/2019 07:25

Well done to all losers. I'm home after 4 days away with friends in France skiing. They don't eat breakfast so they can have a large lunch, dinners were big and wine was had. I wasn't able to stay carb free and weighed myself this morning with an end result of 3Lb on. Off for a 6K run this morning and then to the shops to stock up on food 👍

Siameasy · 19/03/2019 09:07

Well done all and keep going

Last night I went to Byron with my friend. We ordered halloumi fries and when they turned up they were lightly battered grr. I ate them anyway and altho they were very nice I didn’t feel like it triggered me or anything in fact it made me feel more determined

Rshard · 19/03/2019 09:46

Well done @siameasy, shows that you’ve got the right mindset to handle the maintenance phase I think

m0therofdragons · 19/03/2019 13:01

Can't believe this is coming to an end... when is the next boot camp?

Thank you @BIWI this thread makes such a difference and I'm so glad I started at the beginning. I love the fact I can chat on here as it stops me going on about it at work. I have three women who sit behind me who are all on slimming world and I have to listen to them going on and on about it. It confirms sw isn't for me but I seriously want to scream at them to shut up.

MrsKoala · 19/03/2019 13:05

Hi all. Well done on all the losses. I've had a horrendous weekend where things have really hit the fan with FIL. DH has a meeting with SS tomorrow but we are basically liable for his care and may have to sell our house. It's all a big mess.

Anyway, I managed to stay on this woe despite the hot x buns and crumpets my family are continually snaffling. I did drink a whole bottle of wine on Saturday night tho. Weight has stayed the same this week so I am going to 16:8 Mon-Fri and see if that kick starts it a bit. My bra is now on the tightest setting tho and I tried on some 14 dresses which all fitted really well, which i'm pleased about.

One not so great NSV is that I have a lump on my neck (right where my adams apple is). It's a collection of blue veins. I've had it for years and when i'm fatter it's not so visible. But now I've lost weight all the layers of fat softening it under the skin have gone and I have a very noticeable nobbly blue ugly lump in my neck. People keep wincing and asking what it is. I'm due to see a surgeon in June about it but have been told that as it's essentially cosmetic the NHS wont bother doing anything to remove it. I'm currently wearing polo necks but don't know what to do when the weather gets better.

Doilooklikeatourist · 19/03/2019 18:51

@mOtherofdragons , MIL is a SW leader , it’s never ending from her if I never hear anything about Mullerlihgt , I’ll be so relived !

@Mrs Koala . Nightmare scenario , can’t undersatn why you’d have to sell your house though

@Rshard , how’s your day been ?
I had my shopping spree , bought a sundress , 2 tops and a pair of shorts in Next ( some 12 some 14 ) and ordered a jacket
Saw myself in a saggy bra in the changing room mirror , and went straight to the old fashioned lingerie shop , and a new bra and pants were added to my stash (34e , down from 34ff )
Eating wisely ( hopefully )
Brunch . Scrambled eggs with butter
Snack . Cheddar
D spicy chicken legs with mushrooms, courgettes a bit of tinned tomatoes , cream and roast cauliflower
Loads of water
No alcohol

Hefzi · 19/03/2019 19:04

Just popping in to congratulate the losers - and say that I think @tootstastic is my spirit animal Grin

Lost what I have gained over the course of BC, and hoping for a loss next week to make it a stone off in total. Completely axed dairy this week, which has left my macros afu, though did get me losing - after the end of BC planning a week without eggs too: just veg and oil. I am all egged out for the moment!

SummerSazz · 19/03/2019 19:28

Horrible day as feeling poorly, sore throat and runny nose and then the catering at my course was awful. They are usually in London and always loads of low carb choices. This was a beige buffet with added sugar Angry. I should have just asked for a tuna or egg salad as they had both in sandwiches but I was so hungry I didn't and had a crap lunch. Couldn't taste tea (spag Bol and spinach) so ate some cheese. Couldn't taste that either but carried on eating it - wtf??

Sorry for a ranting me post. I'm going to try and swim and sauna tomorrow to try and lift my mood and get back on track

Siameasy · 19/03/2019 19:49

Well done on the cake avoidance Kite and I do find the non scale victories are worth savouring. Maybe you could use one of those coin-in medieval looking scales in Boots?

Oh Summer tomorrow is a new day, lots of viruses around at the moment. Same here and DD is ill again. Sauna sounds an excellent non food treat.

Yes m0ther we have calorie counters at work but it’s calorie counting men so they’re obsessed with protein. Bloody protein. Fed up with hearing about it. Still I’m probably just as annoying going on about fat

Siameasy · 19/03/2019 19:53

NSV here
DH got loads of old clothes down from the loft. Including my two goal trousers from 2010 when I was a skeleton lol
Well I reckon half a stone and I’ll be in them😱

Sadly I’ve had to give away a load of stuff that was put away cos “too small” but is now too big and unflattering. Nice stuff but🤷‍♀️

MrsKoala · 19/03/2019 20:20

I tried on some goal trousers today and they were massive on the waist and groaning on the thighs and bum. I can't imagine with my shape them ever fitting me nicely. I bought them from the sale last year as an incentive and they are lovely trousers those paper bag high waisted wide legged style for the summer. But i don't think i'll ever suit them.

Doilook - it's because pils gave us some money towards our house and SS see it as a loan and that fil owns a portion of our house. So we owe him the money ack for his care. Its a complicated mess which i was assured was okay by our solicitor. But apparently not.
