Morning all. Sorry for lateness of the thread.

Here's the spreadsheet

As the title says, only two more weeks left! But that still means there's time to shed a couple more pesky pounds.

Hope you all have a good week

@MrsTerryPratcett yes I think you're right there...I'm a bit scared of the maintenance phase. I've got all year to think about it though and I'm even considering some counselling to help me through it.

Thanks @twinkledag!

Interesting stuff @Siameasy. I wonder how long it will take the government and the NHS to stop pushing the low fat diets that clearly aren't working to solve the obesity crisis.

nowlook · 04/03/2019 19:54

Evening all!

Went for lunch today. One thing I've noticed is that now my menu choices are reduced, I'm eating things I'd never have looked twice at before.

Today was pork cutlet with mustard cream and lardons. Cauliflower and broccoli on the side. It was lovely!

BUT I also had two glasses of red and felt pissed all afternoon. Not so good, that.

I feel for the cake and fizzy drink addicts. I've so many vices that those two just can't be accommodated

Talking of which, how's it going on the no-alcohol front, @ShagMeRiggins?

And the fags, @AthelstaneTheUnready ?

Well done to all those battling demons. Mine are firmly on my shoulder today, but will shrug them off tomorrow!

nowlook · 04/03/2019 19:58

And @BrassicaBabe, forgot to say, your doner kebab and chippy tea made me giggle...nice juxtaposition with talk of monk fruit in a lemon posset Grin

SummerSazz · 04/03/2019 20:07

+1 for me today as I went out Friday and really really wanted to drink lager and not gin/wine. So I did. +6 on the scales on sat morning ShockShockShock

Also had some wine sat evening and a beer yesterday so back to 3 up from midweek was ok. Hopefully it will climb back down again. Need to try and not repeat this weekends alcohol - last 2 weeks when I wasn't drinking I lost 5lbs.....

I've never really had a hankering for cake so I just say 'oh, I'm ok thanks' when asked if I want a slice. I've never had a negative reaction I don't think.

Well done on the losses and those who are getting to understand triggers and actions needed. I genuinely believe this woe is a big mindset change. Even though I've not been strictly low carb since my first BC I've definitely been lower carb and cleaner eating

Siameasy · 04/03/2019 20:46

Well toots my friend (she’s lost 3st plus on a similar WOE to this) and I were saying the same today-we are the enlightened ones because at some point the truth has to come out.

Like people used to be in denial that smoking was bad for you. Sugar gets away with the crime; saturated fat is convicted.
I eat high fat and people who are clearly pre diabetic tell me I will die of a heart attack.
Cognitive dissonance

AthelstaneTheUnready · 04/03/2019 21:09

Thanks for asking, now Grin.

Terrible cold has made it really easy to give up actually. Plus I read the Allen Carr book a month or so ago, and though it didn't stick then, I think now I actually want to stop, it's making all the difference. I'd actually forgotten all about giving up - as in, not thought about smoking at all until you just reminded me. And now I'm just thinking 'bleurgh, no thanks'.

Weekend was up and down for me - really good that got out into the hills, and ate really well. Really bad that I felt appalling, and (like Summer) drank some beer.

I'm probably up a few lbs but haven't weighed yet. It would only be beer and (yet again) illness inflammation so I'd rather not know...

B: creamy coffee and avocado
L: leafy salad with prawns and tuna mayonnaise
D: roast chicken and cheesy leeks.

Am really, REALLY looking forward to tomorrow's steak and asparagus in butter

BIWI · 04/03/2019 21:22

@venusandmars where do you buy your monk fruit from? And what brand and/or what form do you buy it in? I've never heard of it before!

OP posts:
nowlook · 04/03/2019 21:30

That's brilliant, @AthelstaneTheUnready

(One day soon I'll find that motivation to stop again. Once gave up for seven years, but you know how it is)

Don't want to harp on about it when you're doing so well, but (ridiculously, irrationally) the fear of weight gain always looms large. Cracking idea to do it at the same time as bootcamp. Might get that book in preparation for the next one!

1stMrsF · 04/03/2019 21:33

B - boiled egg and mayo, creamy coffee
L - bolognaise with green beans, salad and coleslaw
D - LC sausages, mushrooms and spring greens with Boursin
Drank all the water.

Shrove Tuesday tomorrow, wondering about making some cream cheese pancakes. Anyone tried?

ShagMeRiggins · 04/03/2019 22:07

nowlook no alcohol at all. Not since 22nd Feb I think it was. Only 10 days, but I haven’t had a roll like that since 2008 when I did two weeks without alcohol for my first attempt at IPD.

And I’m not missing it. Sure, it might have been nice to have a glass of red with my coq au vin on Saturday night, and last week’s sunshine was begging for a G&T, but the thought entered and left my mind with no trouble whatsoever.

Something is very different in me this time; I just don’t want to.

venusandmars · 04/03/2019 22:42

@BIWI monk fruit
This one is just monk fruit. Often you see it as 'monk fruit sweetener' which is more sugar-like in texture and is usually mixed with erythritol. Pure monk fruit is 0 carb 0 calorie, 0 glycaemic index

It is eye-wateringly expensive. I don't have a sweet tooth so I only use it occasionally, such as for the lemon posset for a family celebration event.

GrasswillbeGreener · 04/03/2019 22:46

Hi, I'm going to sneak in here late :)
Want to go "low carb for lent" - I did a bootcamp a couple of years ago with a lot of success but lost my will to keep it up, for a few reasons, and went back to very scatty eating habits. This time last year was fairly stressful for several months which is a poor excuse but all I've got!

So I'm going to start fresh again from Wednesday! Was thinking of starting a new post but noticed a couple of others being encouraged recently to just join this thread, so here I am :)

chocolateavocado99 · 04/03/2019 23:07

I did this WOE about 16 years ago and I found maintenance easy. I followed Atkins which says to weigh yourself once a week and if you see that you are gaining, then to cut back on carbs for a few days.
I reintroduced carbs after about 2 years when pregnant with dd1 as everyone told me that the baby needed them. I had lost 45 lbs lcing and gained 50 while pg. Shock

venusandmars · 05/03/2019 07:58

So 1lb off this morning. I can't remember who posted a photo of their daily weight fluctuations but I found it reassuring since my weight goes up/down/up/down like a jagged mountain. BUT the reassuring thing I see is that the overall trend is downwards. It's just sod's law that Monday always seems to be an UP day! However, this morning's loss will keep me motivated during the week, and I will just have to weight wait till next week to see the positive impact on the spreadsheet.

Food today:
B - avocado
L - egg mayo and salad
D - chicken soup; cream cheese pancakes with bacon and mushrooms

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 05/03/2019 08:23

2 lbs off this week BUT I had a gain of 3.8lbs the week prior. Overall weight loss since the start is 10.9lbs though so must bear that in mind.

At least I am back on track.

Good luck for the week ahead everyone.

MrsKoala · 05/03/2019 09:11

Hi All. I weighed Sunday and was 12st and then weighed again yesterday and I was 12st 3lb Angry . Then weighed again this morning and I am back to 12st. Confused So I am updating the spreadsheet as 12st. I seem to always be heaviest on Monday mornings!

I haven't had a chance to catch up on the thread so will try later on today. Hope you all had good losses. :)

BIWI · 05/03/2019 09:16

If you're heavier on a Monday, no need to stick to Monday as your weigh-in day! In fact, one more motivating strategy might be to weigh daily and then record the lowest weight of the week on the spreadsheet.

BrassicaBabe · 05/03/2019 09:35

Can I log my weight the morning after a few glasses of wine?! Grin Wine dehydration always knocks a few lbs off!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 05/03/2019 10:15

Welcome, Grass! Definitely come on in, the water's lovely.

Well, I weighed this morning, and I am up, bugger it. But that's illness, beer AND muscle damage from overenthusiastic dashing about on munroes, so am confident it will seep away again this week.

As venus says, overall the trend is still down.

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 05/03/2019 12:06

Self pity alert.

I've logged 128.8, down 1.7 from my starting weight, up from my lowest BC weight of 128.3.

There's definitely an element of TOM but generally I am Fed Up at the lack of results on the scales. Compared with pre-bootcamp I am:

Drinking vastly less alcohol - 2-3 units per week.
Only drinking water (no cordials etc.) and lots of it.
Cut out chocolate, biscuits etc.
No rice, bread, potatoes, pasta etc. Following LC as best I can.
Exercising a LOT more.

I won't lie, I've had some deviations from the plan, but we're talking once or twice a week, not every day.

I do have some NSVs but not as much as I would have hoped / expected. There are still too many clothes in my wardrobe which are off limits.

I've tracked my food on the Fitbit dashboard for the last week or so and it's telling me I'm eating ave. 1,400 calories. But that I need to eat less than 1,000 per day to lose 1.5 lbs per week. If it's true it's bloody hard.

I've started to weigh portions which feels so bloody tiresome. I don't actually have a huge appetite so portion size is not the problem.

I am Fed Up.

ShagMeRiggins · 05/03/2019 12:11

How much do you hope to lose until goal weight, Unexpected?

WhatTheFronti · 05/03/2019 12:22

Hi all. Am struggling to find time to post regularly but am catching up on threads and enjoying reading
Weight has been a bit up and down from last week - which was a brilliant loss, am not going to be discouraged!
Loving the food at the moment. Weather is finally cooling (weeping with joy!!) and have moved on from salad!
Have had steak (Aldi had a cracking special this week) with asparagus for dinner for the last 4-5 days with various sides (avo, creamed spinach etc) 😊 I've really enjoyed the predictability and comfort of Same meal (am only cooking for myself ATM. Kids eat earlier, Dh at work)
I cooked and served pancake lunch for my kids school today (with every topping under the sun) and had no desire to break from this woe - I made +100 and ate none!
Only downfall is the wine 😏 DH has been bringing some lovely bottles from work and i just can't say no to a glass (only on weekends, 2 glasses max - some rules....)

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 05/03/2019 12:24

I don't know if I have a specific weight in mind but I think I'll have to be about 123 lbs to be where I was two years ago and to get into the beautiful clothes I wore then.

My excess weight is mostly on my belly. My bum and hips are smaller and so are my boobs ConfusedHmm but my belly and thighs look bad to me.

Sorry for the pity fest.

BIWI · 05/03/2019 12:47

@UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea Hmm. I know it's frustrating when progress is so slow, but you are already pretty slim, and you're only 5lbs away from where you want to be!

I think a bit of sensitivity about all the other posters here who have so much more to lose might be in order.

Progress will be slow as you near your target. It's unlikely you'll be losing 1.5lbs a week at this stage.

*And don't forget, those deviations - even if they're only once of twice a week - will count. Can you not have a couple of weeks of strict proper Bootcamp and see what that impact that has?

Stay on plan. Watch your portion sizes and keep an eye on your calories. Also, you may want to consider/reconsider the amount of carbs you're consuming and have a think about whether you can lower those a little more.

And finally, just because you have a target in mind that you want to see on the scales, that doesn't mean your body is going to behave accordingly!

If you're doing a lot of exercise, more than you did previously, it could be that you're a different shape now, which is why your clothes don't fit.

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 05/03/2019 13:03

@BIWI I get what you mean about sensitivity, tbh I nearly didn't join in BC at all because of that. But I have had about two years of half trying to lose weight and failing so this is why I'm here. I might have less to lose but I feel equally unhappy.

Maybe I should stop posting and just lurk.
