Week 6 - Low Carb Bootcamp - it's all downhill from here!

Morning losers!

Here's the spreadsheet

So we start the second half of Bootcamp. By now, hopefully you're in the swing of things, and the scales and/or the tape measure are showing good results.

Keep focused. Keep your eye on what you're eating - it's all too easy to become a bit complacent, relax and let the carbs creep back in.

Keep up the water (you are drinking enough, aren't you?!) and make sure that you're eating lots of fat and getting your carbs from vegetables and salad.

But above all - good luck!

Oh maybe it’s pregnancy Mimosa1 but to be fair even when I got really really thin once (9 stone 26 waist could wear kids clothes) my back stayed as 36 in a bra!! Bloody ribs!
Enjoy Centre Parcs. I went as a kid and loved it. Should be lots of walking, cycling...apparently there is a lot to do there nowadays

MrsKoala · 23/02/2019 16:31

Hi all we are down in Hastings for a few days and I am resisting the fish n chips and hot donuts.

I’m not sure I’m in ketosis at all as I am still hungry 2-4 hours after eating and I’m not getting any nsv’s like loose bra or jeans. Everything still feels just as it did when I started.

1stMrsF · 23/02/2019 16:48

Thanks @nowlook nice to have good news for a change.

@ShagMeRiggins well done with the wine - one day at a time

StuntNun · 23/02/2019 17:32

I just had one of those John West Tuna Infusions that BIWI recommended at the start of Bootcamp. It's tuna, extra virgin olive oil (so no nasty polyunsaturated fats) and herbs/salt so virtually carb free. The pack has a ring pull so it would be great for a snack or packed lunch while out of the house so long as you remember a fork or spoon. Highly recommended!

That's good, @StuntNun!

I'm thinking it would be a good idea to start a thread with recommended products, actually.

@Mimosa1 about the tea. I'm like you so what I do is measure out the milk in the morning and when I run out of milk, it's black tea or water! I find dairy is messing me up so only 1/3-1/2 a cup of lactose free milk a day is safe.

BIWI · 23/02/2019 18:13

@MrsKoala - you sound down - sorry to hear that.

But if you're feeling hungry 4 hours after eating, that's probably because it's mealtime!

Are you making sure you're keeping your fat up and drinking all the water? Have you checked for carb creep?

BrassicaBabe · 23/02/2019 18:33

They look good @StuntNun. I've added a few to my Tesco shopping basket

Rshard · 23/02/2019 18:44

Those are lovely @stuntnun, they’re on offer on Ocado at the moment I think.

MrsKoala · 23/02/2019 19:14

Thanks BIWI. I am still ill so I think the antibiotics and ibuprofen are taking it’s toll along with the fact I am definitely not drinking enough water because it hurts to swallow.

I am away at the coast and did hot cross buns for breakfast for everyone and then they all had fish and chips for lunch and ice creams. The smell has been the worst- especially the hot x buns (I bloody love those delicious bastards). But I’m koko. I bought a dressed crab and had it with mayo and salad for dinner which was really good.

I finish the antibiotics tomorrow and am planning on really going for it for the rest of BC. Although I haven’t technically cheated once, being ill has made me not so focussed.

Also I haven’t done any exercise at all. So as I’ve joined the gym and not used it yet I think when I feel better I need to move my lard arse.

KiteMarked · 23/02/2019 19:42

Back from a short trip with DD. I ate well overall, but 12 hours of driving in less than 36 hours is tiring! I ate a lot of sugar-free sweets to keep boredom at bay, and that is taking its toll on my digestion now....

Lunch at a friend's house and ate a bit of this veggie rice dish she made, but mostly salad.

Back to normal now, thankfully. It's so easy to fall back into bad habits when travelling.

Mimosa1 · 23/02/2019 21:22

@MrsTerryPratcett that a brilliant idea about measuring the milk in tea. I'm going to copy it. It's so easy isn't it? One as you wake up then another for breakfast, one mid morning and mid afternoon at work, one when you get home, one decaf after dinner... Anyway, I shall try your method and report back.

To the PP who introduced the idea of cheesy leeks to the thread, I think I love you. I had it with pancetta and LC bread tonight, with some cream and mustard powder. Delicious !

Funnily enough @StuntNun and @m0therofdragons I bought a new pair or bras yesterday and reduced the cup size instead of the back (ie I was always told a 36b and a 34c were essentially the same and so on) and they were quite uncomfortable. I think that advice may be nonsense lol. I'm a compete pear shape so I really do think pregnancy made my rib cage wider as it's possibly the only place I don't carry body fat.

@1stMrsF I hope you'll spend some of your windfall (congrats!) on some lovely new clothes for your new bootcamp shape! I've been using the excuse of my new job to buy a few bits, even though I'm still very far from my goal weight, and I do feel much happier and more confident. Not too many as I hope to go down a size yet! I've also had a bit of a clear out of things that were very old or didn't suit me. Now I can't possibly put all the weight back on as I can't afford it!

1stMrsF · 23/02/2019 21:47

@Mimosa1 that's a good incentive to keep off the weight! I am certainly looking forward to some new clothes although at the moment I am really enjoying my current wardrobe fitting well instead of everything being too tight!

@MrsKoala it's really hard when you aren't feeling well - it's hard when anything stops you from giving 100% focus. Well done on avoiding the holiday treats! Good choice with the dressed crab though. I hope you feel better soon.

SummerSazz · 23/02/2019 22:09

First drink in 13 days yesterday - really enjoyed it but back on the water tonight. It has given me the massive hangover hunger so I've eaten loads today. It has been mainly low carb other than a plum which jumped out of the fruit bowl at me but not the best 24 hours and will have an impact. However I had a lovely time and don't/won't regret any of it as this is the woe for a long time I hope and an evening of fun needs to be had.

I've joined a new running group in our village and we are meeting for the first time tomorrow. I normally run alone and on familiar routes so not sure how this will go but worth a try.

Hope you feel better soon @MrsKoala - you've had a real run of knocks Sad

ShagMeRiggins · 24/02/2019 07:55

Very difficult emotional day yesterday but Day 2 No Booze successful. Also made it onto treadmill, and good WOE eating.

Looking forward to the Oscars tonight, must plan some lchf stuff to see me through the broadcast!

BrassicaBabe · 24/02/2019 07:56

I did have wine on Friday in the end. Very moderate! And again last night as is my new Friday/Saturday only regime. I did 24 fast yesterday with one meal of lamb curry (that's the joint finally finished!! Grin) while the kids and DH had fish and chips.

I think I'll be able to report a 2lb loss tomorrow. If the scales remain unchanged. It would have been 4 but I updated the xls midweek to reflect the bounce that I'd put on and lost from last weekend. I'm finally back to the weight I was on 22nd December!!! Now to tackle the 4lb that was hanging around from Nov/Dec Smile

For me I think the 24 hour fasting reset my snacking. Along with dropping the wine Sunday to Thursday. Plus positive news on Friday on the job front may have helped the stress related stall!

Plan for next week is to alternate between 24 hour and 16:8.

Pub meal this evening. Don't know the menu but I usually go for a burger and salad with heaps of mayo.

BrassicaBabe · 24/02/2019 07:57

X-post shag

Sorry yesterday was a difficult one. Well done on the no booze

littlebillie · 24/02/2019 08:12

I joined at the beginning and with a few family things I've lost my way and for the first time in 18 months my weight is up. I need to get back on track for last few weeks

Siameasy · 24/02/2019 08:40

Sending strength to all those trying to avoid booze
I find it hard sometimes on this WOE because I’m conditioned to look for food or drink (not booze but Coke) to comfort me and now I have nothing! It’s hard to lose your crutch. If I have a bad day I feel that craving for comfort carbs. I only have tea now😩

Mimosa1 · 24/02/2019 08:43

Welcomed @littlebillie and congratulations @BrassicaBabe

I won't be able to weigh in Monday or tomorrow as we will be away, so I'm reporting a 200g loss bringing me to 75.2kg it's slow going and my further drop mid week has vanished but I've clearly been drinking too much milk (treating the lactose free milk as a license to drink as much as I wanted was not such a great idea!). Anyway, 200g off a week is still 10kg off a year as I'm having to remind myself!

Have a great week everyone and feel better @MrsKoala

nowlook · 24/02/2019 09:06

Morning!

I have a holiday in six or so weeks. I can get in my summer clothes (yay!) but I wondered if you had any recommendations for toning exercises? My skin's a bit crepey these days.

Please don't say 30 day shred. I know you're going to, it's just such hard workGrin

BrassicaBabe · 24/02/2019 09:57

Hmm nowlook I do like a rant about exercise not affecting my weight loss. And I say that as a runner and a rower. (Feck, v proud that I can say that. Before Dec '17 I was a committed coach potato!) BUT I'm afraid the right kind of exercise does affect your shape. No advice, other than SHRED is quick and does change your shape quickly. Sorry Blush

SummerSazz · 24/02/2019 11:16

@nowlook I've been shredding on and off for 8 years and it really does work. However I have started doing daily Pilates instead and have to say it really works too and is rather less intense!

I do a bit of cardio first and in the middle of the 10 min sessions to get the heart rate up a bit and a plank at the end so a bit mix and match. Def seeing good results Smile

nowlook · 24/02/2019 11:21

@BrassicaBabe @SummerSazz

I couldn't run a bath! What I'd really like is one of those slendertone machines, but one for whole body. And one that actually does something.

Looks like shred is the only way. I need to get a grip and get on with it. After all, there's little point in getting into the 120s if I still can't wear a bikini!

Condamine · 24/02/2019 11:49

I've just realised I am eating so many calories. Are you all taking into account calories or just eating allowed foods.
I have a lot of weight to lose but its hardly moving and of course I have the "helpful" advice from people telling me how many calories are in my butter and cream.
I have been chucking butter in and on everything. I'm not struggling with any carb issues and am really enjoying my food but I think I am overeating in general.
I hate the idea of weighing and measuring so this WOE is a dream to me but I suppose if my portions are unrealistic I need to rein it in.
Just wondering how I should proceed.
