Week 6 - Low Carb Bootcamp - it's all downhill from here!

Morning losers!

Here's the spreadsheet

So we start the second half of Bootcamp. By now, hopefully you're in the swing of things, and the scales and/or the tape measure are showing good results.

Keep focused. Keep your eye on what you're eating - it's all too easy to become a bit complacent, relax and let the carbs creep back in.

Keep up the water (you are drinking enough, aren't you?!) and make sure that you're eating lots of fat and getting your carbs from vegetables and salad.

But above all - good luck!

You've done amazingly well to avoid all that temptation @venusandmars 👍🏼 i find the social eating the biggest hurdle - so easy to eat everything I would have normally avoided.

Feeling super shitty today, have a friend who's going through a suspected missed miscarriage (inconclusive atm) and has been bombarding me with messages asking for info/advice. I'm not an expert but know enough to advise but has left me feeling really raw about my own lack of fertility.
Luckily don't have any carby food at home to shove my face in right now 😞

BrassicaBabe · 22/02/2019 18:22

Job news was encouraging. Exciting and terrifying. I WANT WINE!

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 22/02/2019 18:22

Can someone tell me why there are no nuts allowed on Bootcamp? I have cravings for something salty and crunchy to snack on.

BrassicaBabe · 22/02/2019 18:29

I'll let someone more knowledgeable than me answer that one Unexpected but have you tried these? I think they might be a bit "marmite". But they are salty and umami like. I like them

Siameasy · 22/02/2019 19:01

I like those seaweeds and what about pork scratchings Unexpected?
Have u made roasted kale? Omg amazing- and salty
As for nuts I thought they were allowed after the initial two weeks?! I’ve had the odd nut but I’ve had them in a meal rather than as a snack.

BIWI · 22/02/2019 19:39

@UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea you can have nuts on Bootcamp! It's only in the first two weeks that you can't.

However - you need to be careful, as it's so easy to eat loads of nuts, as they're so very moreish, and the carbs can really mount up. Also, be very careful which nuts you choose, as the carb counts vary hugely. Macadamias and almonds are the best, I think (from memory). Peanuts and cashews are to be avoided!

Sounds good on the job front @BrassicaBabe! Can you tell us more or is it all still TBC?

@Dia12 Flowers for you. That sounds tough.

@venusandmars sounds like you did brilliantly well! It's so tough to resist in those situations Star

Tried roast duck breast for the first time. Beautiful. So tender and really fatty. I served it with leeks fried in butter

BrassicaBabe · 22/02/2019 20:18

@BIWI new job could possibly be one week uk based on week Europe and hotel living. Could be good for LC as I find meat and veg easy to order. Smile Pot loads of money, but significant challenges as we still have a young (primary) family

Trying to negotiate with myself on the wine front Grin (I'm not the only one who has little arguments with themselves surely!). Wonder if i can have 2 glasses and then 24 hour fast until dinner tomorrow and that final lamb curry Hmm

@BrassicaBabe - only you can really decide what you're doing about the wine. But if it's the age-old devil vs angel on your shoulder, you need to decide which side you're on.

If you go with the devil, who else will be affected by this?

(Clue: only you?)

Well done to everyone cutting back on wine - I love how supportive this thread is - and well done to the runners, wow! I be never made it last week 2 of C25K and I'd like to try again.

Food today

B - 2 cups of lactose free milky tea
S - 1 cup of semi skim tea
L - cod, cauliflower and garlic purée, brocolli and 1 milky tea
S - rasberries, strawberries and cream and 1 tea
D - chicken thighs, lettuce and coleslaw, 2 square of dark choc and 2 lactose free milky teas.

Looking back that is a LOT of milky tea - 6 cups. It was so cold today though. I need to cut down. I think I'm a bit addicted though, is that even possible? Sigh. I'm trying to learn to like it black. Very weak it's sort of OK.

chocolateavocado99 · 23/02/2019 01:09

Just back from 4 days in KL. Did ok the first 2 days, but 3 and 4 were a LC disaster. It was the wine that started the spiral. I do so much better without alcohol.
Have houseguests for another week now, so will just do my best until they leave and then go back to strict BC.
Just weighed myself. Up 1.5 kg, but it is also tom so that could be a factor ( or it could be the delicious Indian dinner last night).

ShagMeRiggins · 23/02/2019 06:25

Yesterday was Day 1 no booze, plus all the water. Hoorah. It was very easy. Plus treadmill. Not quite giving myself a Star but at least I didn’t fall at the first hurdle.

Doilooklikeatourist · 23/02/2019 08:04

Well I know today is going to be an issue before I even get out of bed !
Have friends coming for dinner , I’m making it low carb ish , but there will be wine involved
Will do damage limitation, and get back on board on Sunday
Suns out ( even in Wales !)
Happy weekend everyone 🌞

Just having a quiet moment with a hot water and lemon before the day starts. Kids are next door with my DSis and DH still in bed so it's silent GrinHave unpacked the shopping, brought in the milk, emptied the dishwasher and put on a wash - very satisfying!

Drank rather too much wine last night, got a bit over excited! We started with some fizz as we were celebrating receiving a financial windfall. Feel like a day off as a result so hopefully that'll help. Weight is tracking back down after a mid week peak and I really think it's the water that makes the difference - another reason the wine doesn't help as I forget to drink water when my wine glass is full!

Delicious meal last night at my DSis's who has been so supportive finding LC dishes. Chicken breasts stuffed with Borsin and wrapped in prosciutto with a baked garlicky field mushroom and steamed greens.

We will be watching rugby later so I'm going to have a go at making some LC 'scotch eggs' to eat in front of the TV.

Well done everyone and KOKO. Have a lovely day.

m0therofdragons · 23/02/2019 09:46

Iced 3 big cakes and 30 cupcakes. I ate some icing though. Not expecting a loss this week now, just hoping for the scales to stay the same. Cross with myself but moving on. Birthday cake looks good though.

Doilooklikeatourist · 23/02/2019 09:57

NDV , just realised my bra is way too big in the back strap
Looks like an expensive day out and some new undies are required 😀

Doilooklikeatourist · 23/02/2019 10:39

NSV even

ShagMeRiggins · 23/02/2019 10:45

Bras are such a great NSV indicator, likeatourist. Sometimes, to be sure, I’ll wash a loose bra to see if it’s still loose after shrinkage Grin

Siameasy · 23/02/2019 12:08

Great to have a NSV Doilooklikeatourist I really hope to go down a back size too! I’ve got such a big rib cage tho-I wear a 38 back, it’s really annoying

What struck me this morning is how our stomachs must’ve shrunk so much internally. I just ate breakfast and got full so so quickly!

Mimosa1 · 23/02/2019 13:43

@Siameasy @Doilooklikeatourist i went up a back size l when I was pregnant and my rib cage hasn't got narrower. I know what you mean.

I'm off to Centreparks this week with my family. I've never been and heard very mixed reviews (passionate on both sides!) we are doing a big shop to stock up on HFLC options and DH has decided to start this woe again as well. I won't be able to weigh in on Monday but really want to be in the 74s or dare I even hope 73s by next weigh in. That would be the weight I was coming back from my summer holiday last year. Still 10kg more than when I moved in with dH, sigh but inching ever more closely to a normal BMI.

nowlook · 23/02/2019 14:09

Afternoon all! I have the dullest afternoon. DH and the DC return from skiing tonight, so I'm washing bedsheets/ digging out half eaten packets of Quavers from down the sides of their beds. I'm considering running a hoover round. DH is very tidy; me not so much, so it's a genuine labour of love.

@1stMrsF congratulations on your windfall!

Food-wise, I've recovered from my blip in the week and stand to stay the same as last weigh-in. Phew!
