Week 5 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Here endeth the first half!

Morning all.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I hope that the start of week 5 puts to rest the troublesome weeks 3 & 4, and we can get on with the job of losing weight from here on in!

Just remember that weight loss from now on will be slow and steady. Unless you have masses to lose, you should expect to see around 1-2lbs a week loss.

I hope that the scales, or the tape measure, are kind to you!

Here's to a great week

I know it won't be right for everyone but I am finding daily weighing, and tracking, really helpful.

I've posted two graphs, one for the last week, and one for the last month. I can see that weighloss has slowed as expected, but motivatingly, I can also see the the trend is still downwards (that's the yellow line). I can also see that for me the loss has not been linear, often with an 'up' before a 'down', but again that the trend remains downwards.

These are from Weight Diary which I've recommended before (other weight tracking apps are available Wink)

I'm getting a bit stumped with food choices, but more because no one else eats the high fat stuff I am. No one here likes it. So there are very few recipes which I find cross over. Roast chicken/gammon, goulash, chilli, chicken in a creamy mushroom sauce, chicken thigh/pork belly tray bake, moussaka, ummm not sure what else. Going to revisit my recipe books today, but I am finding the effort quite hard and just making pasta seems so much easier

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 15/02/2019 13:51

I know, I know, I hear you biwi but having a moan stops me reaching for the jacket potato 😄 I'm just being a pissy pants

BIWI · 15/02/2019 13:52

Sorry @BrassicaBabe Grin

I have a head full of snot right now, so insight and perception abilities are significantly lowered

@MrsKoala do you have the Idiot Proof Diet recipe book? There are some lovely recipes in there that the family might like. There's a very nice recipe for beef korma in there that springs to mind, along with Spanish chicken.

What about sausages and roast veg? That's a great way to get more fat into a meal, with the oil that you roast the veg in - you can use a slotted spoon to take the veg out of the baking tray for everyone else, but use it as a dressing on your plate of food. I sometimes also add halloumi to mine, along with the sausages as well.

And don't forget to check out the recipe threads here as well - I think the Spanish chicken recipe is copied out on there. There must be other stuff they will all enjoy!

Thanks BIWI. I used to have the book but guess which is the only one not to be found after our house move!? I will need to order it again. I did make the Spanish chicken, I forgot about that. It's just all getting a bit samey I think. Stewed meat or roasted meat.

My kids don't eat any of this anyway so I cook them different dinners too. Which is why I want as little effort as possible. All 5 of us have different food at every meal time. It's a pain in the arse!

MrsKoala · 15/02/2019 14:03

and now dh wants me to cook extra for fil too!

BIWI · 15/02/2019 14:08

Well, yes and no. DS1 has sensory processing disorder and severely self restricts his diet due to texture issues. So only eats my homemade pizza, sausage sandwiches, or hot dogs. We are currently worked on griddles chicken and noodles, but it's early days. DS2 also self restricts and we don't know if he has the same issues or whether he has learned it and eats fish fingers and beans, sausages and beans or cheese pizza (without any tomato sauce on).

DD on the other hand eats everything but eats at 4.15pm. Boys eat at 5pm and we eat at 8-9pm.

m0therofdragons · 15/02/2019 14:21

Nope I didn't give in @BIWI and am now in a better mood despite period pains like a teen. I've been to the butchers and bought some lovely chunky sirloin steak for dinner so am looking forward to that and an early night.

Throat is really sore so I think I'm run down and need to listen to my body. In laws are staying with us from Sunday so that'll be tricky but I'll ignore their comments (they swear by Herbalife Envy - sick not envy).

Mimosa1 · 15/02/2019 14:54

Coming on to say I had a v nice veggie korma from Tideford organic at under 5g carbs per 100g l. Not for every night but an easy packed lunch. They do a really good veggie bolognese too.

MrsTerryPratcett · 15/02/2019 15:43

I've stopped eating eggs and started on Greek yogurt for breakfast. A change is as good as a rest, right?

Can someone explain prosciutto cream cheese parcels to me? Or is it as it sounds Grin

BrassicaBabe · 15/02/2019 16:06

Sorry you are snot ridden BIWI

So for future analysis:
B: a few spoonfuls of greek yoghurt straight from the tub
L: omelette with feta
D: left over roast pork and buttered veg
S: small pork scratchings bag and snack pepperami

Aiming for NO WINE again. But nearly killed DH last night with the sans relaxation aid rage Hmm so might have to adapt!

I’ve fallen off this bootcamp somewhat (but not the woe). After 18 months of weightloss and maintenance I’d lost nearly 6 stone. Yesterday I lost my final 8 lbs during a breast reduction. :). In May 17 I was a 40K. LCHF brought me down to 32K. I now look about 32DD although I’m obviously still very swollen so may be less, which I’d be delighted with. I’m not going to lie, I cried buckets when I saw them, for the first time in my adult life I have boobs that are proportionate to my size and frame. Clearly it’s a big operation and yesterday was a particularly bad day, but I will use the old chestnut of ‘why didn’t I do this years ago’. I am VERY happy.

BIWI · 15/02/2019 17:53

I was wondering where you were, @ilovecherries!

So glad that it's gone well, and you are so happy. And wishing you a speedy recovery Flowers

Yes, the run-up was ghastly, BIWI, I was absolutely terrified, and right up till I was in theatre wasn’t convinced I’d be able to go through with it. Have more or less been in hibernation, just couldn’t think or talk about it beforehand. Now having to stop myself from accosting other people’s visitors and asking them if they’d like to see them :)

MrsKoala · 15/02/2019 18:11

Congratulations ilovecherries. You sound so liberated and very brave. It must be so hard emotionally and physically to make that decision.

This thread is great, it has it all; new babies AND new boobs! So heartwarming and positive.

bluelefant · 15/02/2019 18:57

Oh @ilovecherries I am so happy for you 😊 and also envious as I know perfectly well what life with enormous boobs mean and really hate mine!
I wish I could chop mine off one beautiful day...

Mimosa1 · 15/02/2019 20:03

@MrsKoala I love your post. New babies and new boobs indeed! Congratulations @ilovecherries and @YessicaHaircut

nowlook · 15/02/2019 20:15

@ilovecherries

Where in the world did you shop as a 40k? I'm not sure a bra size should ever be interchangeable with a long distance running event.

Really pleased for you. As a 32d, I invite you to share the joy of Lise Charmel, Marie Jo L'aventure, Aubade and Simone Perele.

I may be poor, but, fuck me, there's no chance of embarrassment if I get run over by a bus.

Doilooklikeatourist · 15/02/2019 20:42

@ilovecherries , omg , you’ve done so well , and been so brave
6 stone is about the size of a 10 year old 💐?
Hell of a lot though

I’d recommend trying the low carb granola listed earlier , I’m really enjoying it for breakfast with yoghurt and a couple of berries , I’ve made tomorrows up already ( like overnight oats , but nicer )

StuntNun · 15/02/2019 21:34

I hope your recovery is going well Cherries is your new bra size going to warrant buying a lot of new tops to show off your boobage?

1stMrsF · 15/02/2019 23:43

Shock cherries Wow. Just wow. Good on you.

ilovecherries · 16/02/2019 05:37

Yes, I see lots of new clothes in my future. And I look forward to bra shopping, although I will be in a surgical compression bra 24/7 for a couple of months. nowlook it was a nightmare. I used to have them specially made in Poland then I found one in Bravissimo that I could just about get away with - it didn’t fit great, but I didn’t scare small children in it! I’m hoping to go home today after they’ve had a scan to check for any internal bleeding. I rather wish I could take my hospital bed with me for a few weeks, I’m rather liking being able to eject myself without putting any pressure on my arms!

venusandmars · 16/02/2019 08:03

*@ilovecherries@ a friend of mine had a breast reduction, and what a difference. She stood differently, walked differently, even talked differently. And just from the different posture, she looked like she'd lost a lot of weight, even though she hadn't. Fingers crossed for a smooth recovery.

Food today:
B - poached egg on spinach
L - roast cauliflower with left over beef rendang
D - antipasti and salad
