I love this week - when we find out how much people have lost, and all those of you who haven't really believed it will work are proved wrong!

Here's the spreadsheet

I hope that the scales have been kind to you, or that your measurements have gone down and your clothes are feeling looser!

I look forward to hearing about everyone's progress.

Here's to a great week 2 as well

Thanks mimosa.

I guess I’m being optimistic that I will actually last 8 weeks and will need to continue Smile

tootstastic · 22/01/2019 19:49

@wasabiaddiction Welcome! 🖐🏻

I also have a lot to lose and I'm here for the long haul and there are a few others in the 200lb+ category who are likely to be around a long time too, so you won't be alone between bootcamps.

I started on the pre-Christmas one on the 15th October at 18st 10lbs, got down to 16st 8lbs by the end of that bootcamp, then kept it going over Christmas and lost another half a stone. Hopefully, I'll just keep going, joining in with the bootcamps as they come up and hanging about on the bootcamp general chat threads in between. Even once the weight is off, it seems like a great place to keep on top of maintenance.

HI everyone. Today was a big day. I had an offer accepted on a new property. But the other bit was I went to the breast clinic, because I have had a sore right boob for a few months now. It turned out that the boob was fine, just some chest wall soreness (muscles) but they checked the other breast as is their practice. Unfortunatey they found a lump, it wasn't a cyst, so I had a biopsy. Argh. Feeling a bit weird about it. Don't find out for a few days now. Got stitches and feel strange.

B: a bit of greek yogurt but then the hospital took 5 hours
L: some olives (the only thing I could find in the cafe); then when i got back to work I had leftovers from last night - peppers, courgettes, halloumi
D: making celeriac and cauli mash with cream, topped with mushrooms and parsley
E: walking, and stress

Lost5stone · 22/01/2019 20:03

Just caught up, busy day! I am liking the idea of microwave babybel but it's the sort of food that I will end up mindlessly eating. I know I don't need snacks but having them there would probably mean I eat 12 in a day.

B: didn't have time (hides from the big stick). Have my friends DD Tuesdays and she was poorly so didn't get a chance to make something whilst looking after Velcro baby and DD
L: chorizo and halloumi salad (way too much salt for me, must have had my 3l straight after)
D: coconut and ginger pork. Served on cabbage fried in butter. Big hit with DP too who had his on rice because he "really needs carbs with every meal"
E: Swim

nowlook · 22/01/2019 20:06

@WhatThreeWords What a mixed day for you! Hope you have plenty to distract yourself with over the next few days until you know what's what. Thanks

WhatThreeWords · 22/01/2019 20:14

@nowlook thank you! I have lots and lots of work to do. That's always the thing to get you through, I find. Useful distraction.
It has rather taken the shine off buying my dream flat. @venusandmars knows which city I live in and I bet she can guess where it would be! Elegant, high ceilings. And something called a 'press'

BIWI · 22/01/2019 20:15

Oh bugger @WhatThreeWords. Fingers crossed for a positive outcome. But good news on the property! Talk to us about that instead!

OP posts:
prettybird · 22/01/2019 20:19

Ooh - I know what a "press" is Grin

We have one in our dining room and one in our bedroom - and covered up one in our kitchen when we moved it from a small room to one of the larger rooms in the back (we're in an upper conversion). We also have 13ft high ceilings Shock

prettybird · 22/01/2019 20:21

....and I hope the news from the biopsy is good Smile

WhatThreeWords · 22/01/2019 20:23

Well it is lovely @BIWI and I am very excited about it. It's Georgian. Three proper bedrooms, a very generous hallway. My bedroom has curved walls. The living room is amazing (dodgy wallpaper though), and lovely proper woodburning stove. Only one bathrrom, but a freestanding bath. There's a separate laundry area with a pulley for drying clothes (relief! I hate washing machines in the kitchen). There's an additional sink and loo. The kitchen needs a redesign. Or at least a change of handles and things for when we move in. Horrible splashback. Why does any house/ flat you look at have an awful splashback?!

Any kitchen designers, make yourself known!

On a separate note, the NHS cafe was a disgrace. The only allowed thing was olives. Everything else was sandwiches, crisps, sweets, ready meals. I did have a small flat white, but considering I was waiting for a biopsy i didn't think you would wield the big stick BIWI! I needed something to keep me going.

Back to the flat.
It's very central and very lovely and I am very happy about it.Smile

Rshard · 22/01/2019 20:25

Flowers for @whatthreewords, my fingers are crossed too

Welcome to the newbies! Good luck.

Really impressed with those navigating pubs, parties and other social occasions. I ignored biscuits at a meeting and some home made South African rusks that someone bought into the office. They frankly looked and sounded as though they needed to come with a free dentist appointment!

I made the bacon and halloumi salad for dinner - OMG, it was lush. Thanks to whoever posted it.

WhatThreeWords · 22/01/2019 20:26

prettybird as a friend of mine said, high ceilings make us feel so much better because we used to spend so much more time outside. They are a joy

And thank you!

BrassicaBabe · 22/01/2019 20:27

Brunch: ( having a bad day so it was something of a sulky low carb binge) 15g pork scratchings, 2 baby bell, sea weed thins, snack pepperami
Lunch: coleslaw
Dinner: buttered savoy and brisket

Plenty of water

Struggling this time. Got more on my plate and weight isn't shifting like it has in the past which is also affecting my resolve. No, that's not true. I'm a committed low carb'er now after 18 months but I'm pissed off that I weigh the same as this time last year despite being nearly a stone lighter in the summer. Sorry, on a downer.

Ran 11k yesterday, 3k today.

WhatThreeWords · 22/01/2019 20:30

@brassica it's a horrible feeling when things are not working. I mentioned my friend with the blood sugar monitor, well she works out her blood sugar spikes when she is stressed. Could that be happening to you? It's so frustrating when things that worked before don't work again so quickly. I'm sure others have more advice. I just want to say I understand the horrid frustration.

BIWI · 22/01/2019 20:33

@BrassicaBabe did you really only have coleslaw for lunch?!

And I'm sorry, I know you might be feeling shit, but your menu today really wasn't good. You need to eat properly, and particularly make sure that you're eating more fat and more veg and less processed stuff.

you need to look after yourself, not sabotage your best efforts

Darkbaptism · 22/01/2019 20:34

I made butter chicken curry in the instant pot this evening, it was so good! Lunch was a subway salad, that was good too!

BrassicaBabe · 22/01/2019 20:35

@BIWI it was homemade coleslaw (8g carbs for the portion). I didn't scrimp. Thought I was doing well as it was high fat with the mayo and a decent portion of veg Sad

BrassicaBabe · 22/01/2019 20:40

@WhatThreeWords thanks Blush really ought to pull myself together with a kick up the arse.

m0therofdragons · 22/01/2019 20:41

Feeling more positive today but still full of cold. Spaghetti bolognese (courgette spaghetti) for dinner.

WhatThreeWords · 22/01/2019 20:46

@darkbaptism I'm getting into the Instant Pot. The celeriac and cauli mash I made today is amazing!

BIWI · 22/01/2019 20:56

But @BrassicaBabe, that will have been nearly all carbs, more so than fat. And you need protein as well!

WhatThreeWords · 22/01/2019 21:15

bloody hell mumsnet! SInce I posted about the breast clinic, the sidebar ads are now 'Spire healthcare' 'world experts here when you need them' 'fast access to treatments'
Why did I say anything? So blinking offputting and trying to pray on myfears

GerrysSuccessor · 22/01/2019 21:17

Busy few days here and I’m struggling to keep up with the thread! Trying my best to read it all but think I’m probably missing bits.

Today’s food:
B: chopped eggs with butter
L: cheese salad with homemade dressing, coffee with thick cream
D: enormous fatty, butchers, proper old school pork chop seared then baked with garlic butter, roast broccoli and cauliflower. Completely delicious.

I’ll have a decaf coffee with cream in a minute.

Have done better with water I think. Find it much easier when I’m at work- I can punctuate my day better. First litre before work. Second one between first lesson and break. Third between break and the end of the school day. Fourth between 3.15 and bed. Few cups of tea and coffee in between (I drink my tea black and weak so I think it probably counts as water to be honest!)

Thought I was mostly past the cravings but then sat in the car passing cheese straws to my very hungry children after swimming and thought I was going to burst with the neeeeeeeeeeed to just have one buttery cheesy pastry delight. But I managed somehow to resist by telling myself I could have all the cheese and butter in the world when I got home, just not with the pastry! Funnily enough telling myself I could have it meant I didn’t actually end up wanting it...

tootstastic · 22/01/2019 21:18

@WhatThreeWords thank goodness for your beautiful flat to take your mind off things. We'll all keep everything crossed for you that the biopsy shows it's nothing to worry about Georgian properties are my absolute fave. We're in an Edwardian one, which is lovely, but I dream about my forever house being a beautiful Georgian one. One day....

What a bloody cheek targeting you with ads, Mumsnet that really stinks!

DH and DD complained that tonight's chicken curry was too creamy, so I may have been a bit heavy handed with the cream, but I thought it was really nice. Served mine with just broccoli, they had rice. @Lost5stone my DH also thinks he can't do without the rice!

WhatThreeWords · 22/01/2019 21:24

thank you @tootstastic and others above. your chicken curry sounds lovely. 'too creamy' = fabulous!
Yes I am so happy about the flat! Now I need everyone to move out underneath and to win the lottery and then I can have my Georgian mansion!
