I love this week - when we find out how much people have lost, and all those of you who haven't really believed it will work are proved wrong!

Here's the spreadsheet

I hope that the scales have been kind to you, or that your measurements have gone down and your clothes are feeling looser!

I look forward to hearing about everyone's progress.

Here's to a great week 2 as well

and @tootstastic I may mention something to Mumsnet. It's made me feel like my lovely, caring NHS advice and waiting time for results is somehow something I should circumvent with private healthcare. We cannot all do this. Maybe I am over-reacting, but it just seems so manipulative.

Darkbaptism · 22/01/2019 21:27

WhatThreeWords, celeriac and cauliflower mash sounds great, how long do you cook it for?

tootstastic · 22/01/2019 21:29

@WhatThreeWords I don't think you're overreacting at all, I hate targeted ads at the best of times, but when you're going through something like this, it's not on.

Best to distract with dreaming about your Georgian mansion. I'll join you!

BIWI · 22/01/2019 21:32

... and I'm still no wiser - what is a press?! (is it some kind of cupboard?)

OP posts:
WhatThreeWords · 22/01/2019 21:33

@darkbaptism I put on the saute function and cooked down a leek and garlic in butter. Then turned that off and put in frozen chopped celeriac and whole frozen cauliflower. Put lid on and set to 12 mins on high pressure. It took a while to get to pressure, but as you know, it's easy because you don't have to watch over it!
Once finished, did quick release, then used hand blender to mash together with a good glug of double cream. Lots of salt and pepper.

Let a slice of salted butter melt on top and then added separately fried mushrooms

It reminded me of polenta. Would have been amazing with extra parmesan. Or a duck breast fried and cooked pink. Or lamb chops. Or oxtail stew drool - like ossobucco. You could have put some saffron with it.

WhatThreeWords · 22/01/2019 21:38

BIWI yes it is a cupboard. It looks like a door to somewhere, but it isn't and it usually reveals some shelves. The Georgians - so pretentious!

In many flats/ houses, the door stays, in this flat, one of the 'presses' has the door taken off and it is made into a bookshelf. It's a good place for storing things like gin DVDs

prettybird · 22/01/2019 22:02

I don't know about England but in Scotland, the presses are on outside walls. As the walls are 3 feet thick solid stone, the presses are "built" 1.5 feet into that, so are lovely and cool Smile (Although in some cases, this can also mean damp Sad) Not sure if that's were the term has come from: it's been "pressed" into the wall.

We've cut the door on the press in our bedroom in half (and then half again to make a pair of centre opening doors) so that the upper half is display shelves and the bottom half, with what's left of the door, has the gas metre and general odds 'n' sods storage.

Dia12 · 22/01/2019 22:28

Hello everyone, just caught up on thread. Keeping fingers crossed for good news on your biopsy @WhatThreeWords Thanks

I've had a good day with food. Had some fajitas with low carb pitta and lots of guacamole. I'm keeping an eye on my macros using MFP and have some ketostix left over from last time I was low carving and was reassured to see ketones show up even in my dilute urine.

I'm really looking forward to having some strawberries and cream....roll on week 3!!

WhatThreeWords · 22/01/2019 22:40

Thank you @dia12

And @prettybird that’s a good idea what you have done to the press! Clever you

venusandmars · 22/01/2019 22:47

When I was young I thought it was called a 'press' because it was the best place to hide when you were playing sardines Grin Grin

@whatthreewords your food descriptions have me salivating... duck breast fried and cooked pink; lamb chops; ossobuco with saffron.... I'm on my way to your place for dinner!!

re the ads - I got 'microwave mac and cheese in 5 minutes' ha ha they've misread MY profile Grin

Threeminis · 22/01/2019 22:54

@WhatThreeWords Thanks
The new place sounds wonderful! Try to focus on that for just now. Worrying won't help at all

Mimosa1 · 22/01/2019 22:56

@WhatThreeWords I'm cross with Mumsnet targeted ads on your behalf. That's not OK. Thinking of you and fingers crossed all ok when you get your results. I think your new flat sounds just lovely.

I'm learning such a lot on this thread. Just today, I've been educated about chicken bricks, Georgian presses, and Strathmore water. What's next?!

WhatTheFronti · 23/01/2019 02:30

🤞💐@WhatThreeWords

I'm thrilled the scales keep dropping (daily weighed) and very much enjoying this WOE.

B - coffee w Almond milk, herbed cream cheese & proscittio parcels
L - Large chicken, avocado, feta, cucumber & mixed greens salad with ff mayo (I seem to have a version of this everyday...)
D - homemade butter chicken, ratia, "zucchini rice"

I'm really excited to be getting a crockpot multi cooker (can't get a instant pot here sadly) I think it will make the next few months a lot easier - plus will have time to experiment when kids go back next week!

CognitiveDissonance · 23/01/2019 06:37

Good Morning everyone, I'm a little late jumping on the thread but have been doing this since the 2nd of Jan. I'm really disheartened to have only lost 3lbs in that time, I've been working so hard. I know that by and large I'm doing the right thing because I am in ketosis but the weight is just not shifting and it's starting to affect my motivation. This week I've made adjustments buy completely cutting out dairy, no berries, upping my water and keeping a closer eye on calories but i just seem to be stuck in a permanent stall :(

GerrysSuccessor · 23/01/2019 07:26

Very pleased with myself this morning. Was in a rush, which is usually when I would make excuses and think ‘I’ll just grab breakfast and lunch from the shop on the way in’. But I ignored that inner voice knowing it would lead me astray and managed to make myself a quick salad and some boiled eggs to eat when I get to work. Small victories.

Plan for today:
B: boiled eggs with butter
L: cheese salad
D: courghetti bolognese. Pasta for DH and the kids.

WhatThreeWords · 23/01/2019 07:27

First class on train today/.. go for the Great British breakfast - can I have sausage and black pudding? Also grilled tomato, mushrooms, egg and bacon

Return I think only option is Beef Rendang? Slow cooked coconut marinated Malaysian curry?

Thanks everyone for your kind wishes

Doilooklikeatourist · 23/01/2019 07:36

💐@WhatThreeWords fingers crossed for good results ( also loves a property thread )

boldlygoingsomewhere · 23/01/2019 07:37

Whatthreewords, hoping for a good outcome from the biopsy. Flowers

Rshard, I know the South African biscuits you mean! They are hard and can only really be eaten dunked in tea or coffee.

I’m really struggling this time round. I just seem to be bouncing around the same half stone. It doesn’t sound much but on me it’s the difference between my clothes being too tight and too loose. I thought I’d done well since last Bootcamp but looking in the mirror was a shock. My bloated, flabby stomach is back with a vengeance. Sad

ChangoMutney · 23/01/2019 07:54

Let me be an example of what not to do. I went to the pub last night and had two vodka and slimline tonics, completely my fault I could have resisted I didn’t even really enjoy it and this morning I have a hell of a hangover, my tolerance has clearly dropped. The whole thing was pointless so I’ve learnt my lesson now and will say no next time.

Fortunately I didn’t completely collapse and came home and made salad with various low carb leftovers.

tootstastic · 23/01/2019 08:02

@GerrysSuccessor well done on the mindset change. Great to know yourself well enough to know your pitfalls before they happen.

@boldlygoingsomewhere if it's any consolation I felt a bit like you between bootcamps. I stalled and when weight did come off, it came off very slowly. I felt bloated and wondered why it wasn't working. Now, just a couple of weeks later, my tummy feels flat again and that bloated feeling has gone and the weight is coming off again. So, persevere and it will right itself, our bodies are weird and seem to go through phases.

I've had a small victory this morning. My BMI was 41 (class 3 obese) when I started and has just squeaked under the 35 (class 2 obese) to 34.9. Not a huge excuse the pun difference, but it has made such a difference to how I feel. I'm beginning to look more 'normal' if that makes sense? I can fit into so many more clothes, my wardrobe is literally opening up and I'm getting to wear so many things that looked ridiculous in even a month ago.

AandL · 23/01/2019 08:17

To add to the press discussion in Ireland your press is your kitchen cabinet!
I enjoyed my half day off plan yesterday, not stepping on scales today & just getting back to koko! Bit of a sore head but will get lots of water in to me. Day off work, hurrah, well until 1 when mammy duty kicks in.

WhatThreeWords · 23/01/2019 08:19

@tootstastic - that's so impressive! well done you.

I woke up this morning and felt all worried about things. I need to keep myself busy.

Dia12 · 23/01/2019 08:20

Well done @tootstastic, that's no easy feat, it takes a lot of lbs to shift bmi 👏🏼

I'm much like you @GerrysSuccessor, it takes a while for my body to be convinced to start showing loss on the scales...but something is certainly happening, your hard work won't be in vain. I also find it can be easy to over do it on the calories on this woe so keeping a food diary always helps me and definitely increasing water content has also helped suppress my snacking.

@BIWI do you limit your protein in anyway?

prettybird · 23/01/2019 09:00

I did like this response from Anna Soubry:

I sometimes feel like saying "Okay, have your wretched hard deal in all its ghastliness" but that would be so irresponsible and we have to put our national interest first, and getting rid of no deal is the absolutely the right thing to do.

It felt very human - and echoes some of my own suppressed thoughts about the potential for a hard/No Deal Brexit to hasten Scottish independence.

Condamine · 23/01/2019 09:01

WhatThreeWords I am also sending you positive thoughts for a good outcome. I have been in your shoes and the waiting and not knowing is the worst. Flowers

My new scales have arrived and I'm actually a pound less on them, I am ignoring the metabolic age that puts me 7 years older! It also says my water percentage is 40 and on the low side. I am religiously drinking 3.5l of water a day plus a couple of teas and coffee.
BIWI do you think I should up my water or it's not really necessary?
