Welcome @Foreverlexicon
This is a great way of eating if you want to enjoy food and not feel deprived. And Bootcamp has been devised so that you don't need to count calories or carbs.
However, there's no diet in the world - sadly! - that will allow you to drink whatever alcohol you want/whenever you want, so it's all about moderation.
On Bootcamp , for the first two weeks you can't drink any alcohol. This is because the first two weeks are designed to help you get your body burning fat as quickly as possible, rather than carbs. Adding alcohol into the mix will only delay this process because whenever there's alcohol, that's what your body will burn first, rather than either carbs or fat.
As @nowlook also explains, the other part of this strict two week period is to help your body adjust to moving away from sweet things. It's amazing how your taste buds will change in just a short period of time!
So it is better to avoid alcohol in the first two weeks - and especially if you need the motivation of seeing the scales move! That said, if you do Bootcamp Light, then you can have the occasional drink, and here we're talking dry wine, and/or spirits with either soda or zero calorie mixers. (The latter is something we also try and avoid on Bootcamp however - be warned that your body can respond to artificial sweeteners as if they are sugar).
But
What worries me about your post is that you talk about previous disordered eating. It's very, very important that you don't revert to that - not having to count anything might help you - but I try as much as possible to ensure that people on Bootcamp eat as normally as possible - the only difference being that instead of eating a diet which is high carb/medium protein/low fat, we switch that round to high fat/medium protein/low carb.
This is about eating good quality, unprocessed food, with plenty of vegetables and salad, with good fats like butter, full fat yoghurt and extra virgin olive oil.
If that sounds like it would work for you - then jump in!
