I love this week - when we find out how much people have lost, and all those of you who haven't really believed it will work are proved wrong!

Here's the spreadsheet

I hope that the scales have been kind to you, or that your measurements have gone down and your clothes are feeling looser!

I look forward to hearing about everyone's progress.

Here's to a great week 2 as well

I suspect there is a little bunch of week 4 stallers here. BC started on 14th. But I started in 1st. I guess there are a few others too going by the posts. Keep the faith!

I did JM shred a few years ago too with no diet change. I definitely lost inches. Keep going! (I'm running these days. If I was really committed I'd run AND do something like JM. I'm not that committed Grin)

@Katinkka, not a fan of celeriac mash either. Crisps or chips are a little better. But mine are still a mix of burnt and soggy with nothing in between. It has a bit of a laxative effect with me too. So you might want to watch out for that to add insult to injury Grin

Youcantscaremeihavechildren · 25/01/2019 18:51

@katinka it's an acquired taste I think, I love it but kids won't touch it.
Good ideas about the yoghurt, as it was that's all I ate pretty much all day, as I had a couple of spoonfuls for breakfast and left my lovingly prepared lunch at home.. Not what I needed on the first day of my period, feel awful as it is, so grabbed a tuna salad thing I had, poor choice as it had kidney beans, sweetcorn and red pepper in it.. Only had half tried to pick out just the tuna.
So I've come home and devoured dinner, also may have stopped at the shops and bought a camembert to bake later when the kids are in bed...
B. Yoghurt
L. Weird tuna thing, think it was about 20g of Carbs so left half..
D. Pork belly, leeks, ish rooms, cream. Was delicious..
1.5 lt of water.. Not great again..

Hello everyone.

Friday night is usually pub night but I'm babysitting so happy playing UNO with a very charming 5 year old.

Food going well, water intake tailed off the last two days, before that I was averaging 3+ litres a day.

Today:

B - 2 boiled eggs with mayo
L - Chicken soup
D - salmon fillets and green vegetables

I've been doing minimum 5 exercise sessions a week, mixture of short gym visits, hour long walks and brutal exercise classes.

MrsKoala · 25/01/2019 19:11

@BIWI (or anyone else) can I ask a question sort of unrelated to BC? I remember you said you had a soda stream and I thought they were just a in the 80s - But I drink loads of soda water and I'm also trying to cut my plastic consumption and am averaging about 5 bottles a week so thought a soda stream might be a good idea. But I've googled them and they seem really expensive. So my question is are they worth it and is the soda good and fizzy?

BIWI · 25/01/2019 19:11

@MrsTerryPratcett

Because I'm getting very disheartened and the toast is speaking to me right now

The toast is not your friend. If you give in, all you're guaranteeing is that the weight will go up!

For all of you who are in week 3 or 4 - it is very, very, VERY common for weight loss to stop (or even go into reverse) at this point, so don't despair, keep going, and it WILL sort itself out again soon

@knowhow sorry you're having such a bad time, especially when it should be a happy year for you!

But as you can see from responses already, this is a very supportive group, and lots of us understand the struggle with alcohol! I'm doing a version of dry January - didn't start till the 7th and will end on 28th because I have a long-standing social event. This is the longest I've gone without an alcoholic drink since 1994!

I'm doing dry Jan to sort of reset things - I had a pretty shocking year last year, and gradually the drinking crept up so that rather than being restricted to the weekend, I was lucky if I was managing only one alcohol-free day a week. So my ambition, after the event on Monday, is to restrict it as much as I can to the weekend.

I know it's not good for me to be drinking too much, and it's certainly not good for my weight! We have a big trip in April, so I'm focused on losing weight before then.

When is your wedding? How much are you aiming/wanting to lose?

@MrsKoala I bought the soda stream Crystal, which comes with a glass bottle, rather than a plastic one. All part of my drive to avoid single-use plastic! The amount of fizziness depends on how much gas you have left in your canister, but yes it's definitely very bubbly.

Each bottle is 600ml, and I bought extra bottles, so that we always have some full in the fridge. When you're drinking 2 litres of water a day, and have a DH who drinks a lot of water, you do end up re-filling the bottles a lot! But it's definitely worth it in terms of how much you save on buying bottled water/fizzy drinks. I used to buy 4 litres of sparkling water a week, and 3 large bottles of bitter lemon - now we just have the water, and I buy PLJ lemon cordial and (for DH) Teisseire sugar-free grenadine cordial - both of which are sufficiently sharp to taste reasonably adult, rather than like kiddy squash.

I'd recommend it.

@Katinkka. I love celeriac, but I'm not a fan of it mashed on its own - even with lots of butter. But I have found that if you mash it with cooked leeks, it's a lot better, and interestingly is much more like eating potato mash somehow.

BIWI · 25/01/2019 19:26

@BrassicaBabe - why don't you just grate your own mozzarella?

OP posts:
BrassicaBabe · 25/01/2019 19:31

@BIWI cos it's all soggy and won't go through the grater? Grin Happy to try anything most things once GrinGrin

BrassicaBabe · 25/01/2019 19:33

@BIWI daily weighing and a regular drinker. You seem soooooo much more human to me now. Still god like of course, but just slightly closer to us mortals now GrinGrin

BIWI · 25/01/2019 19:35

It's true. I'm only human!

If you buy the block, rather than the ball, it's a more solid texture and will grate more easily. (Even more easily if you use a food processor)

@Katinkka i am with you Celeriac mash is not nice but chips are much better. I cut the celeriac up into chip shapes and season then put in the oven. I did try par boiling then oven but they were a little mushy still.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 25/01/2019 20:12

I made celeriac mash for the first time this week with extra heavy cream. I liked it but DP didn’t. I love all veg though.

I’ve had a really tough day at work. I’m totally fed up. DP is knocking us up something delicious (I hope) downstairs and I’m watching curious George with DS in bed.

I’m a week 3/4er. I’m not daily weighing so don’t know what the outcome will be this week but glad I know ahead of time that it might be a shite weight loss week.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 25/01/2019 20:34

Another one checking in here with the alcohol problem, knowhow. I have fluffed dry January on a few days now, but am persevering. It really is a day-at-a-time thing for a few days, and then a few-days-at-a-time seems quite easy, and then it seems like you've cracked it right up until you're opening a bottle, and then it's back to day-at-a-time... Blush

It's my hardest thing to give up, which means it's probably the most important thing to give up.

I told prettybird I wasn't going to confess this, but since I have company... I have also put on 4lbs this week. Combination of really horribly overly salty roast ham water retention, time of the month, and my week 4. But my measurements have gone down another 1/2" all over, and I'm back to grabbing my arse again* since just this week I can begin to feel the muscle in it, rather than the wobble.

  • On a previous BC I was so impressed to feel my gluteus maximus feeling solid that I wandered around for days clutching one buttock.

If Athel has gained this week I feel about a million times better.

Screw you toast. You never call, you never write, you only want me now I've met someone else.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 25/01/2019 20:56

Been there, done that, so am in fortunate position of knowing it's just a blip, rather than fearing it's permanent.

Your toast can run off with my Grand Marnier, MrsT, and screw the pair of them. I hope the one gets soggy and the other gets sediment.

Thank you Athel for the gain confessions. And others for the stall confessions. And others who really fancy a glass of wine! I feel so much better now. Not in a way that we all need to fall into a loaf of bread, but rather we're all human but KOKO together Smile

LostaraYil · 25/01/2019 21:34

Had a couple of glasses of prosecco at a friend's house this evening, and salted peanuts to go with it... I needed it, I was on the verge of tears all afternoon and feel quite cheerful now! That's the end of dry January for me I think, but I didn't go all out and will be back on the wagon tomorrow after (hopefully) a good sleep. KOKO, everyone, you are foing great. Grin

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 25/01/2019 21:50

Hi everyone! Latecomer alert...

Was unwell first week of bootcamp and totally forgot about it this week as has been manic at work and lots going on including going to my daughter’s graduation last weekend.

I’m going to start in earnest on Monday coming (I’m already halfway back to LC bootcamp proper, but just need a couple of days to get myself properly in the zone, however I’m being fairly careful already so there will be no cheating going on).

Have decided probably best not to be added to the spreadsheet as I can never ever get it to work and someone else ends up having to put my stats in every week. I’m planning just to update with a comment on weigh-in day, mainly to keep track myself and also to keep myself accountable and motivated.

Lunch today was chicken broth.
Dinner was celeriac mash with cabbage fried in butter and goose fat, and beef casserole.

Last I weighed, which was a few days ago, I was 156.3 lbs. Not looking to lose an awful lot, just want to go down by about a stone and one clothing size. Mostly doing this for my health.

Good luck everyone, and well done, and thanks for having me!

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 25/01/2019 21:55

And in the interest of full disclosure, I am another one who got nicely back into the habit of a nightly glass or two of something or other over the Christmas period. Goodness me it’s a difficult habit to break isn’t it. The only reason I didn’t have a glass of wine tonight is I was too lazy to walk the two minutes to our local shop to get a bottle!
