I love this week - when we find out how much people have lost, and all those of you who haven't really believed it will work are proved wrong!

Here's the spreadsheet

I hope that the scales have been kind to you, or that your measurements have gone down and your clothes are feeling looser!

I look forward to hearing about everyone's progress.

Here's to a great week 2 as well

BIWI - Honest answer? Desperation.

No matter what I do I can't seem to shift the weight and in utter desperation I bought this slimatea in H&B. Have drank it a handful of times and it really does clear out the system. Its a gentle laxative effect but deep down I do know its not the best way.

I want to lose at least 2 stone in 10 months - when I think about this I just panic and I self destruct by eating things I shouldn't. God, its so hard.

BIWI · 25/01/2019 10:46

Have you tried low carbing before @knowhow?

It really does work - you can eat lovely, tasty food, you won't feel deprived, and honestly, you should be able to lose 2 stones in 10 months without resorting to such drastic action.

Why not just give it a go and see what happens? Jump in and join us!

I'm sure all the other Bootcampers, new and old, will confirm that this really does work!

B - haloumi, bacon (leftovers from previous night) + avo & lots of lemon juice. Almond milk coffee
L - bit of a antipasto plate, salami, cheeses, olives
D - stir fry with chicken thigh & lots and lots of lovely greens (broc, pak Choy, green beans, spinach) to make up for rest of veg lite day.

MrsKoala · 25/01/2019 11:42

Just drinking my Lactofree proper cup of tea and loving it. It's my first proper cup of tea for ages, so thank you for recommending it.

Yesterday was my day with 7 kids after school doing homemade pizza and chocolate cake and I wasn't tempted once. Hurrah.
Yesterday:
B- Spinach and courgette omelette
L - Gammon and veg creamy bake
D - Roast chicken and coleslaw

knowhow · 25/01/2019 11:47

Thank you BIWI

Yes I have done low carb before and it works for a time. Whilst I am on an honest streak I must admit here that my downfall is alcohol.

Dry January was an epic fail (having experienced two traumatic events in quick succession since Jan 1st) and I absolutely know that alcohol is hindering my weight loss.

1stMrsF · 25/01/2019 13:29

@knowhow Just speaking from my own experience, so do ignore if you don't agree, I think you have to be in the right place mentally, and not trying to juggle too much in order to lose weight. I've been thinking about this for a long time before I felt ready. If you're having a difficult time at the moment, perhaps aiming for moderation and preparation rather than drastic change might help? I found the DrinkAware app was very helpful in supporting me to cut down my drinking over a few weeks by setting small challenges, which might be more realistic than a goal like dry January (followed by giving yourself a hard time for 'failing'?)

knowhow · 25/01/2019 13:36

Thank you 1stMrsF

Mentally I have been through the ringer (and back) over the last month so yes you are probably right. I set my goal too high, and beat myself up for failing (which has added to my high anxiety and extreme sadness from recent events)

This year was supposed to be full of joy and happiness as I am getting married. And I was supposed to cut down my drinking, starting with dry Jan and then only drinking every other weekend thereafter (or on special occasions) plus low carbing, so I can reach my ideal weight.

But now I just feel sad and anxious and on top of that like I will never lose the weight...and who actually cares anyway!!! Its a constant struggle.

I will have a look at DrinkAware - thank you

counting down the hours until I can get home and have a drink

knowhow · 25/01/2019 13:37

sorry for hijacking this thread btw. I am aware my life is a WHOLE other thread!!

1stMrsF · 25/01/2019 13:41

Checking in with food for today

B - Avocado and egg mayo
L - random selection from school salad bar: quorn fillet, cooked chicken, salad leaves, cottage cheese, leeks in a mustard dressing. Not enough fat and did not enjoy it, but better than fishcakes and chips!
D - DCs on a sleepover so planning a BC friendly homemade curry night with DH: Curried chicken thighs with yoghurty sauce, Sag Paneer and stir fried curly kale.

1stMrsF · 25/01/2019 13:53

@knowhow Please don't worry. I have found this group very supportive. Do hang around Smile

knowhow · 25/01/2019 13:54

Thank you :)

m0therofdragons · 25/01/2019 15:16

Dc had pizza yesterday and I just had a couple of pieces of pepperoni from on top. Omelette for dinner tonight. Cupboards are quite bare until shop arrives tomorrow evening so that's always dangerous but mentally I'm on it with mini targets.

Target 1: under 11st by 20 Feb (dd1's birthday)
Target 2: under 10st 8 by 31 March (my birthday)

tootstastic · 25/01/2019 15:46

@knowhow if alcohol is your crutch, it's very hard to just cut to nothing when you're having such a difficult time. I would ease yourself into this woe and try to cut down the alcohol as much as you can. The lowest carb drink is vodka and soda with a squeeze of fresh lime, apparently. Maybe limit yourself to that and plan to cut it out completely when you're more on top of things. Good luck with it Thanks

BrassicaBabe · 25/01/2019 15:51

@1stMrsF and @knowhow I'll join you in trying the drink aware app. I find not eating bread easy but struggle with the no alcohol thing. I'd never achieve dry January.

I'm going to try pizza casserole this week as a treat. It's just layers of pizza stuff (sauce, browned minced beef, grated cheese, pizza veg and sliced meats baked in the oven. I know grated mozzarella is coated in potato starch to stop it sticking together. Can I just rinse it off does anyone know?

MrsTerryPratcett · 25/01/2019 16:07

Can someone please guarantee that the weight GAIN I'm having in week 4 (I started early) is going to magically turn into loss at some point? Please? Because I'm getting very disheartened and the toast is speaking to me right now.

I even gave up the electrolytes for BIWI Grin

BrassicaBabe · 25/01/2019 16:08

@1stMrsF which app do you have? Too many options when I searched

samii1989 · 25/01/2019 16:17

I also started early.im on week 4 now and I keep losing and putting on the same pound! :/ lost alot the first few weeks so it's slightly discouraging. I'm doing 30 day shred every day aswel and have been since 1st Jan! Does anyone know when this plateau will end?

LazydaysofSummer · 25/01/2019 16:29

@MrsTerryPratcett and @sami1989 have you measured yourselves recently ? Last time I did this, I stalled completely for a few weeks but despite not losing weight I still lost inches!
This WOE does work and the weight will start to drop again just KOKO!

Condamine · 25/01/2019 16:37

@knowhow. I found just trying to do one day without wine helped. When I had done that I was so pleased I did another until I was so proud of my tally of days I didn't want to break my record and start again from scratch. It really was one day at a time.
I also bought Seedlips and had it with tonic and it got me past that tricky time when you are cooking dinner.

MrsTerryPratcett · 25/01/2019 16:43

Someone did say my trousers looked looser. I want to see a lower number though!

Doilooklikeatourist · 25/01/2019 16:49

I’ve got a Dry January app , which goes beyond January, and there is a Facebook support group too @Brassicababe @ @knowhow @1stMrsF
I’m finding it helpful ( especially the amount of money they reckon you save )

Mandelinka · 25/01/2019 17:32

samii1989 I could’ve written this myself, also started LC end of December so it’s my 4th week, doing the Shred or other JM dvd’s 3-5 a week and lost so far total of 4lbs. I can see my shape is definitely changing and I’m loosing inches but this time round the loss is much slower than my previous attempts at BC. It’s a bit annoying.

I’m a daily weigher and had a 2 week stall before so hoping the current one it’s going to end soon...

Mandelinka · 25/01/2019 17:38

Food today:
B: fried bacon, mushrooms and eggs
L: yesterday’s leftovers ( Owen baked haloumi, couliflowe and sweet potatoe) broccoli
D: Rest of HM veg soup with creme fresh, ticket and salmon with mayo if still hungry

W: probably not enough, will try to catch up once I get home. My Friend is coming round for a cuppa tonight, will try to resist a glass of red we usually have

AandL · 25/01/2019 17:53

Didn't get M&S done for 2 as I knew I'd be tempted by the wine! Bit of a messy day but finally have car sorted after prang this day last week.

Need to get another litre water in!

B scrambled eggs with bacon lardons and cheese, creamy coffee
Resisted cake offcuts at work!
L vintage cheddar, ham, olives
Creamy coffee, just gave Ds the choc that came with it
D pulled pork, chorizo, mushrooms, spinach, fried egg, small mashed avo.

Going to a spin HIIT class at 8 so will have shower jacuzzi sauna after to relax, wish I could change into my pyjamas at gym! Grin

Katinkka · 25/01/2019 18:20

Celeriac mash is not nice! My son was not too pleased either.
