I love this week - when we find out how much people have lost, and all those of you who haven't really believed it will work are proved wrong!

Here's the spreadsheet

I hope that the scales have been kind to you, or that your measurements have gone down and your clothes are feeling looser!

I look forward to hearing about everyone's progress.

Here's to a great week 2 as well

I (as usual!!) stayed the same this week. However #ProjectBunsOfSteel (aka RED January) is going well, with a run every day so far. Today I ran a 10k for the first time in more than a decade. And more amazingly, I did it fasted. Which considering that 6 stone ago I couldn’t walk the length of myself without having a sugar crash, is amazing.

regularbutpanickingabit · 23/01/2019 16:06

OK, day 2 proper and I am feeling happy which is a good sign that I might be back in the right mindset.

yesterday:
B - two boiled eggs and two sticks of cheese
L - leftover bolognaise sauce with baby spinach and lots of parmesan
D - chicken thighs fried in butter with leeks, courgettes, a dash of wine ( I know i know but i boiled it down and didn't do the usual glass of wine to drink at the same time), chicken stock, tarragon and double cream. Served with wild rice for the family and more baby spinach instead for me.
S - greek fage yoghurt. Some very dark chocolate. I find days 1-3 tough and letting myself have that means I can get through it.
Lots and lots of water, black coffee and peppermint tea.

Today:
B - 2 boiled eggs and cheese
L - leftovers of last night's creamy tarragon chicken
D - burgers with cheese, avocado and oily salad

Tomorrow - working at someone else's office so that will be a big test. Not sure I will have leftovers so will visit a pret for boiled eggs and then the chicken chef salad for lunch. Need to make sure I keep up the water.

m0therofdragons · 23/01/2019 16:17

@regularbutpanickingabit you've just reminded me I have left over bolognese tonight! Day is improving Grin

Popped out from work to see dd2 in a school assembly and bought a bottle of water on the way. I know I haven't drunk enough today.

KiteMarked · 23/01/2019 16:35

B - eggs with butter, brie and cheddar cheese
L - very much on-the-go today, so I grabbed some ready-chopped broccoli and a packet of cream cheese. Need to increase water intake, but was in my weekly maths class so didn't want to be popping up every 20 mins!
D - not sure yet, I have a few recipes that I shopped for the other day, so I won't go off plan.

Someone noticed my weight loss today, but she's always saying I've lost weight. Grin This time she was right though!

Rshard · 23/01/2019 17:58

Well done on the 10k run @ilovecherries! That’s a good distance.

BrassicaBabe · 23/01/2019 18:00

@ilovecherries well done you on the 10K! I'm a newish runner too. It feels great didn't it! Thinking I might keep up the RED in February too.

B: Greek yoghurt
L: 2 eggs, a bratwurst sausage and a peice of cheese
D: home made cheese burgers, with left over buttered savoy

Cheeseandapple · 23/01/2019 18:02

😖 struggling to keep up with the posts this week! I'll peruse the thread when DD is sleeping.

Yesterday
B almond porridge with soya milk this time.
L leftover cheesy creamy green bake
A more left overs with sausages.

Today
B sausages and eggs with mayo
L salad with 2 boiled eggs
S caprese salad

Feeling very pleased with myself as went out for coffee with a friend who ordered a cookie. Cookies are my kryptonite but I didn't even falter! Also was checking DDs pasta was cooked so bit a piece and then spat it out 😂

BIWI · 23/01/2019 18:05

I went for a run today as well, for the first time in weeks. I deliberately didn't time myself, but had as a target running the length of a road nearby, which measures just over 1km long.

I ran that without a break, which I was pleased about, then after a couple of minutes walking, ran back, a slightly different way, which was just less than 1.5km, so overall 2.5km

Small steps!

@whatthreewords Yes everything worked out fine in the end. I am due my final annual mammogram soon and touch wood will go back on 3 yearly screening. The NHS breast care service is amazing, everyone without exception was wonderful. You just have to keep busy until you get your results. It's easier said than done! Also you will be amazed how many people when you get chatting have also had to have biopsies etc
Bury yourself in lovely glossy interior design magazines! Smile

LostaraYil · 23/01/2019 18:22

Haven't kept up with the thread very well! @ WhatThreeWords, all the best, I hope the results come back ok.
Today
B- creamy coffee
L- salad with chicken, coleslaw
D- salmon with hollandaise sauce and broccoli
S- cheese and cucumber
I can't manage to eat breakfast, but I have a snack between lunch and dinner so still 3 meals... I have been able to cut out the berries and nuts so I'm keeping the carbs low.
I'm feeling down because we're in the process of buying a house and some new shit seems to come up every day e.g changes to on street parking arrangements, a previous dispute with a neighbour, other neighbour is planning to build an extension etc. We love the house and need to move asap but I'm starting to feel like it's not meant to be😭. We also can't risk losing the buyer for our current place as we've been through all sorts of hell with this one and spent last year getting it sorted. Normally I would be knee deep in chocolate and wine at this point but thankfully there is none in the house...

AthelstaneTheUnready · 23/01/2019 18:37

WhatThree, another hand to hold while you wait (you may need to buy a few octopi to help you out with the offered hands here - and a special waterproof bag to carry them in).

Lostara, I feel your pain - it's shriekingly nervewracking trying to buy, even when things go relatively smoothly.

Not reported food for a while, so
B- creamy coffee and an avocado
L - cottage cheese and another avocado...
D - roast ham, broccoli and leeks in butter

No eating between meals, but not enough water yet - am on it now. Probably not enough food for the day either, but I'm trying to fight off a bug and feeling a bit too unwell to shove more down my face for the sake of it. (I'm sure I read somewhere that your body can't digest and fight bugs so efficiently at the same time, which is why you lose your appetite a bit when you're ill). Earliest night in the world for me tonight, see if I can't vanquish it.

Batshittery · 23/01/2019 18:45

Hello everyone
I'm still plodding on and sticking to the rules. I think I saw a 1lb gain this morning but I know that can't be correct and it will resolve itself.

toots your weight loss is amazing Thanks

whatthreewords fingers crossed your results are fine Thanks

m0therofdragons · 23/01/2019 18:55

@BIWI well done on the run. I keep thinking about it but haven't made it out yet. Maybe next week as I'm full of cold right now.

BIWI · 23/01/2019 18:59

Ah yes, you don't want to be running if you're not well. And it was bloody freezing as well!

The problem is though, now I've started, I've got to keep it up Grin

I'm hoping, though, it will help me sleep. Despite no alcohol for 17 days now, I'm still waking in the middle of the night, which is getting very boring.

Doilooklikeatourist · 23/01/2019 19:36

Had a disastrous start to the day , had to take DD to work , then pop to Tesco , should have easily been back by 9-30 but there had been a crash on the A road , so all the traffic was diverted to the B road that we were on ,took over 45 minutes to drive 5 miles , got back at 10-15
So
B 1 ryvita with butter and cheese ( should have had scrambled eggs when I got back )
L ham and cheese omlette
D salmon fillet ( pan fried in butter ) with spinach , courgettes , broccoli and a cream , leek and mushroom sauce
Loads of tap water ( even though it’s bloody freezing )
@BIWI , the last 3 nights I’ve been sleeping really badly too it’s so annoying ( though last night there were a couple of hail showers which didn’t help )

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 23/01/2019 19:37

Today was

Breakfast. Mashed up boiled egg and butter.

Lunch. I made that warm winter salad that someine suggested on the week 1 thread. The one with halloumi and bacon, it was too salty for me. Mind you I always say that about bacon and I think together with salty cheese it was too much for me. Still ate it all though. Might try it with chicken.

Dinner. Chicken thighs, half an avocado, green salad with mayo, green beans baked with olive oil and parmessan.

Snacks. So far just a baby bel. Will probably have a bit of hard cheese later.

Think I am coming down with something.

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 23/01/2019 19:59

Well done Ilovecherries
I'm training for a 10k run and have run 5k but working on it....
You've give me hope that I can do it!! 😂

LostaraYil · 23/01/2019 20:06

Those of you not sleeping well: last year when I did keto for a while I got to a point where I really couldn't sleep more than 4-5h a night so I looked into it. Low carb foods don't give you much tryptophan, which is a precursor to serotonin, a neurotransmitter that helps with sleep. I took 5-htp supplements which may have helped. Obviously there could be other causes as well.

MrsTerryPratcett · 23/01/2019 20:10

Well done cherries I might do RED Feb since I'm doing this and Dry Jan and don't want to overload my will power Grin

Thinking of whatthreewords. Fingers crossed.

Does panneer work the same as halluomi? The man at the shop was very convincing but now I'm home I'm dubious.

Cheeseandapple · 23/01/2019 20:16

Ok finally caught up.

@WhatThreeWords all the best for your results. Whatever the outcome & despite its many failings, we've got a fab NHS who are very hot on this sort of thing.

@BIWI well done on the run! That's about the distance I'm managing at the moment & its nothing to sniff at. I always think, if you've been on a run, or even just a plod, at least you weren't sitting on the sofa!

I realised that I'm not really snacking between meals at the moment. Usually I have breakfast then graze my way to supper so this is a revelation- so many fewer dishes.

I find that the time I struggle the most if out with friends. Im on mat leave at the moment & so am in a coffee shop with other mums and babies most days. It's really hard to avoid sweet treats but don't want to stop getting out the house to meet friends either! Any tips/things I can think about when next faced with a cookie/cake/milkshake filled menu?

MrsKoala · 23/01/2019 20:17

I'm trying to keep up with everyone but not having much chance to post.

Yesterday was
B - 2 boiled eggs with green bean soldiers
L - Pork mince curry with steamed veg rice
D - Gammon and cauli and leek cheese and roast swede

Today
B - 2 sausage, very buttery scrambled eggs and fried spinach and courgettes
L - IPD mousaka and enormous green salad with oily dressing
D - roast pork belly with red cabbage, radish, onion and celery slaw

I must say i'm starting to feel a bit sick at all the rich food. and I feel quite fat! im still spilling over my jeans!

Cheeseandapple · 23/01/2019 20:19

@MrsTerryPratcett do you mean to cook? I slice it in to just larger than 1cm cubes and shallow fry on low/med heat until brown & crispy then turn them out on some kitchen roll, add salt, eat half 🤭 then add whatever is left to my meal.

What are you making?

MrsTerryPratcett · 23/01/2019 20:23

@Cheeseandapple I just wanted to fry some cheese Grin

Probably shallow fry to crispy and maybe chilli oil on it with a salad. Does it taste crispy and salty. Two of the food groups I recognize

WhatThreeWords · 23/01/2019 20:31

Everyone is being so kind. Thank you all! Had tonight’s dinner of mash again tonight.

For avoiding sweet treats I would @cheeseandapple make sure you are drinking enough water, then have a cup of herb tea immediately (perhaps cinnamon and apple, or ginger?) and sip it slowly. Remember it comes in waves. And think of the weird sugar crapness and the slump they will feel after.
