January 2019 Low Carb Bootcamp - Week 1

BIWI · 14/01/2019 00:59

Well happy new year!

Here's a sparkling, brand new, Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for us all to get this new Bootcamp off to a good start.

Remember, you don't have to be on the spreadsheet if you don't want to - and if you don't want to declare your actual weight, you can index it - which means that your starting 'weight' is 100. Then for every pound you lose, you take off one. So if you lose 4lbs in week 1, then your 'weight' starting for week 2 will be 96.

There are over 170 people signed up, so the thread will move very quickly - but please, please, please read all the posts. Don't just jump on and post your own stuff without reading what other people have posted. That's especially the case if you're posting with a question - read the thread to make sure it hasn't already been asked.

Have a good look at the spreadsheet and all the tabs at the bottom, as there's a huge amount of information there - not just the rules, but also the list of vegetable carb counts, and some really interesting reading/videos too.

I hope everything there is clear, but if not - just shout.

Looking forward to getting going!

That's brilliant @AthelstaneTheUnready Smile

.....we must meet up again for another coffee Brew

Threeminis · 14/01/2019 11:59

@AthelstaneTheUnready
I've stopped smoking too. On day 12 just now.
I take my hat off to you starting bootcamp and stopping smoking in one go.
I've downloaded the SmokeFree app from nhs. It's good, gives you wee tips and tells you what each day smoke free is doing for your body etc

ludog · 14/01/2019 12:05

I've put my weight on the spreadsheet and it's showing -192 on total weightloss. I'm working off a smartphone, maybe that has something to do with it?

SheldonTheWonderShlong · 14/01/2019 12:12

Can I add myself to the spreadsheet or does someone else do that?

AthelstaneTheUnready · 14/01/2019 12:15

I can add you Sheldon Grin

Thanks all for the support re the smoking. I did it before, years ago, and managed 4 years smoke free until last March. Lungs are feeling crappy again, and it's so stupid to be cutting out sugar, booze, and grains for better health, yet continuing to suffocate myself.

Tryingnottobesociallyawkward · 14/01/2019 12:15

I forgot to say earlier, thanks for this @BIWI.

The spreadsheet will let me edit but it changes something in the next column so I took it out again. I have a proper look on the pc tonight.

It's a long day today, but I'm 2.5l of water in and had a lovely green salad with an oily dressing for lunch.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 14/01/2019 12:21

Holding your hand Threeminis! Having a wobble atm so off to buy some cheese.

Absolutely, Pretty! I'll PM you.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 14/01/2019 12:26

@Tryingnottobesociallyawkward - it's supposed to do that! Grin Put your number back in and I'll sort it.

Gammeldragz · 14/01/2019 12:29

Afternoon all and thanks for the new Bootcamp @BIWI.
Restarting at 178.6lbs, over a stone above my lowest last year so plenty of work to do here!

samii1989 · 14/01/2019 12:30

Hiya :) im using my phone atm. Its an android and the spreadsheet is opening in googledrive and not letting me add to it! Is there anything i can do??

Tryingnottobesociallyawkward · 14/01/2019 12:52

@AthelstaneTheUnready ahh in that case my number of shame is back. Many thanks!

Haworthia · 14/01/2019 12:54

Hello everyone!

I’m not new to Bootcamp. Did my first in 2015 after having my second baby. I lost two stone over 7-8 months. Since then I’ve semi low carbed to maintain and that’s worked really well for me. But through the whole of 2018 I fell off the wagon more than I was on it. I really need Bootcamp for the accountability and recipe ideas. I think I got stuck in a rut and started eating carbs again because I was pretty bored with what I was eating week on week.

Today:

B: Two hard boiled eggs mashed with mayo
Coffee with unsweetened almond milk

L: streaky bacon with spinach, cucumber and three slices of jalapeño smoked cheese

D: chicken thighs, broccoli, Savoy cabbage. Need to get some fat in there so I’ll add butter to the veg

I’ll also have a coffee with cream when my energy levels dip, late afternoon. I treated myself to a new 500ml water bottle yesterday to encourage the water intake Grin

Fairnair · 14/01/2019 13:03

Hi everyone. Thanks for the Bootcamp @BIWI.

Today so far I have had:

Drinks = 1 cup black coffee, 1.5 litres of water (excluding the coffee).

Breakfast = Sliced deli meats and a small wedge of Edam cheese.

Lunch = not had yet, going to have some buttery scrambled eggs & tinned pink salmon, plus homemade vegetable soup, which I am going to make now.

Forgot to weigh myself this morning, so will update spreadsheet later with 100 rather than my weight, and reduce the number for each 1b lost.

Good luck everyone.

Dia12 · 14/01/2019 13:05

Great job @biwi and AthelstaneTheUnready!
I’ve got myself all geared up - hope it lasts. I’m going to try and keep up with the thread to keep up the motivation as I usually fall flat after a month or so, particular if there’s a big social event.
Going to make the Shepard’s pie recipe on the spreadsheet tonight!

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 14/01/2019 13:24

There are lovely chocolate chip cookies left over from a meeting staring me in the face at work. I think I may need to leave the office on an errand until they have been scoffed. Sad

Hefzi · 14/01/2019 13:28

@Threeminis I'm 22 stone - the fatter you are the more you need to drink Grin. Luckily, I only drink water (and coffee!) anyway, and I drink a lot anyway through habit: just not quite 5.5 l!

Romanov · 14/01/2019 13:33

Placemarking - will update my weight (eurgh) shortly

i had
full fat greek yoghurt
pan fried chicken
boiled egg

and have some cauli soup to have if i get hungry in a bit

DramaAlpaca · 14/01/2019 13:39

Checking in.

BrassicaBabe · 14/01/2019 13:50

I've put a turkey thigh in the slow cooker. Not sure whether we'll have it as is or if I can include it in another recipe

Dreamqueen · 14/01/2019 13:52

Please can I be added to the spreadsheet. My starting weight is 150lbs.
Thanks.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 14/01/2019 14:09

Right, have tried adding myself to the spreadsheet on two different devices and it still won't let me. Could someone please put me on at 132.5. Thank you!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 14/01/2019 14:14

Time! Hello! How are the buns?

You're on. Can you definitely not add the weight in today's weigh-in column?

SheldonTheWonderShlong · 14/01/2019 14:22

Thanks athel. I am the biggest I have ever been (bar pregnancy). 2 years ago I was exactly 4 stone lighter than I am now. I have always yo-yo'd but 4 stone in 2 years? Time for action!

ilovecherries · 14/01/2019 14:25

Hi everyone. Reporting for bootcamp number 6, I think. Which is not because it doesn’t work, but because I had a shit load of weight to lose. So far, nearly 6 stone off, and about 18 inches off my waist Blush. Dress size down from 24 to 12. I seem to have been wittering on about my last half stone for about 9 months now, but it doesn’t want to go. Have added in some serious (for me!) exercise, which is certainly impacting my shape for the better, but so far isn’t reflected in the scales. On the plus side, I can now comfortably run 5k several times a week. 18 months ago I used to feel faint and sweaty strolling down the road. I really believe bootcamp saved my life. It certainly transformed it. Anyway, clocking in at 153 pounds, and big thanks as always to BIWI and Athelstane.

Bungalowbeth · 14/01/2019 14:32

Hi Everyone! When I put my shamefully high pounds in the first column it minuses it off the next column (weight lost) sorry if I messed up!

Day off today so had a late breakfast of Heck sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs with cream and mushrooms fried in yummy butter.

I lost over a 100 pounds on Atkins back in the early noughties so I know I can do this! Menopause be damned!
