Good morning all, for the final Monday of this Bootcamp.

Here's the spreadsheet for its last outing!

I hope very much that the last ten weeks have been successful for everyone - whether that's on the scales, seeing your clothes fit better, better health and general enjoyment of your food!

I'll keep this chat thread going, and when it's full, will start another one until we start the next Bootcamp, which will start in mid-October.

Thank you Athelstane - I just need to get back on the laptop now and go back over the last 10 weeks to input my weights Smile

bingenomore · 24/07/2018 16:06

HI all - back from 1 week in scout camp followed by 4 days of partying in France. The good news is that Ive only put on 1 lb which i'm SURE is due to post-exercise inflammation. I'm hoping for a whoosh by the end of the week. I survived camp with all your recommendations..olives and small bags of pork scratchings very useful. I also took small portions of nuts . At breakfast everyone tucked into cereal/porridge/toast but I had boiled eggs or cheese and ham or an avocado. For evening meals I just ate the bolognese with out the pasta, the sausage without the mash etc . and then after supper would sneak away and have a bag of pork scratchings. As for the France bit, we were watching the Tour De France so whilst everyone else hit the booze I drank gallons of fizzy water - a bit boring but the intense heat put me off booze anyway. You'll be pleased to know I avoided the baguettes and went for cheese instead of desert when eating out. In fact I was so good I was a bit miffed I put on ANY weight ! I read an interesting theory in Tim Noakes book Real Meal Revolution ( Highly recommended ) that each person has a different degree of insulin resistance and its this that determines how many grams of carbs we can tolerate daily without gaining weight - hence why some people have lost staggering amounts of weight on this BC whilst others ( like me ) a fairly modest amount. It just re-inforced to me that if you are extremely insulin resistant, which many of us are helped by years of frigging low cal high carb diets, then you simply HAVE to follow this WOE otherwise you'll end up in big trouble with diabetes ,high blood pressure, higher cancer risk etc. Anyway enough waffle , well done everyone- great results- yes lets keep the thread going and think up some personal challenges- I like the new recipe a week one and I think I ought to get up earlier and give my dog a long walk before work ( She currently gets a shortish one )

bingenomore · 24/07/2018 16:25

Apologies Qumquat - I've just read your post on the end of the last thread- I doubled up on recommending Tim Noakes book- and now I remember that it was you who had the camping challenge - hope my tips weren't too late . As I said nuts olives , peperami things and pork scratchings saved me - if you have a chiller box ham, cheese avocado and boiled eggs - good luck !

colouringinagain · 24/07/2018 20:12

Bit late to the party but never mind!

I'm camping soon so that's v helpful bingenomore it's going to be hard though as no way of keeping food cold (though costcutter next door)

Anyhow, did my first day, then read the rules. Not too far off. My query is around portion sizes - any tips?

B plain Greek yogurt with 5 strawbs. Tea with milk.
L several slices ham, half avocado, half yellow pepper, green salad
D 1 fillet smoked mackerel, 2 boiled eggs, big pile broccoli with some butter, piece of cheese.
Lots of water.

I am a sugar addict, so really hoping I can stick to this. Ultimately need to loose a stone to get back to edge of healthy him.

colouringinagain · 24/07/2018 20:13

Bmi not him!

prettybird · 24/07/2018 20:57

Portion size is up to you. But the important thing is to read your body's hunger cues and to stop when you feel full.

The fat and protein will satiate you. Trust us! Grin

Sometimes you'll think you're hungry out of habit. Drink some water first before eating something.

colouringinagain · 24/07/2018 21:20

I'll try! Am I right in thinking anything over about 30g carb/day makes this diet pretty ineffective?

prettybird · 24/07/2018 21:40

I think someone posted earlier about research that said everyone has different levels of insulin resistance - and therefore different degrees of carbohydrate tolerance.

We don't count carbs (or calories Wink) on this WoE - as long as we follow the Rules.

Twoo · 24/07/2018 21:45

To who ever asked about people carrying on weighing in weekly, I’m in.

Bingenomore your post resonated with me and I totally get the insulin tolerance spectrum theory. I know I have to keep low, generally under 20g per day.

MrsCoyote · 25/07/2018 05:53

It is 11,2 lbs off for me. love it.
Thank you all, especially BIWI and Athel, for the threads and stories and support.

3stonedown · 25/07/2018 06:31

I'm going to go back on my personal goal of getting to healthy bmi by 31st as it's my birthday tomorrow and a wedding on Saturday so won't be that strict. I'll change it to 7th Aug.

colour I worry about portion control too but have found I seem to naturally regulate on this WOE. For example if I eat a big lunch I tend to only have a small dinner because I can't stomach any more.

Rayna37 · 25/07/2018 06:44

bingenomore I'm so impressed with how you handled your camping trip and France! I think you'll have no problem reaching your goal with that kind of attitude.

Gladlymycrosseyedbear · 25/07/2018 07:52

(Well done on the camping trip. From what I know of this sort of camp - you could easily have fallen into a very high gain.)

I'm down 10lb over this camp and 20lb overall. I'm going to continue and hope to up my exercise too.

Thank-you very much to BIWI and all experienced advice from those on this forum.

m0therofdragons · 25/07/2018 08:30

Last night we took dc to a lovely local Italian. There were no lc options so I went for risotto to test if I'm able to allow occasional carbs. No obvious side effects so that's good. Back to it today though Grin

Lonesurvivor · 25/07/2018 09:03

Morning all. Thanks for a great bootcamp. As someone very reluctant to cut back on carbs I'm delighted to have made it to the end.
Haven't lost anything in the last couple of weeks but 14 down over this camp brining my total weight loss since I started trying earlier this year to 38.

Like you borowren I'm going to increase healthy carbs for a while as I'm needing a bit more variety. I've enjoyed the plan and not having hunger/cravings but I've been bored with what I'm eating the last couple of weeks, I'm not a huge protein fan either.
I'll stay on chat too and be on next bootcamp when ever that is.
Actually knowing there will be another bootcamp around Autumn is a nice security blanket. I'm not worried about playing around with my carb levels and ending up falling off track, it's just something I'm doing until the next camp. If it works it works if it doesn't no harm done, I'll be back on boot camp to restart more losses.

Ooooh, I got the job! Properly and legally this time Grin

NorthernKnickers · 25/07/2018 11:14

Hi everyone, I'm really happy with my 20lb loss over BC. I've been up and down throughout but as I've been weighing daily this was easily manageable, and I've been able to work out why...dairy! When I cut back, the losses kick in again. Nice to finally work this out!!

I shall continue on maintenance and hope by Autumn BC I've shed a few more lbs.

Thank you all for keeping me (and yourselves!) going this past 10 weeks. It's been a blast 😂

Have a lovely summer xx

Fantastic m0therofdragons - not that there was ever any doubt! Flowers

m0therofdragons · 25/07/2018 11:48

Thank you Grin

prettybird · 25/07/2018 12:02

I've now weighed in formally and I'm down a pound on last week Smile - a loss of 1 stone 2 and 3/4lb this Boot Camp (ok, the 1st half+ stone of that was simply getting back to where I'd been before falling off the wagon for a month Blush) AND over 50lb since I started last May ShockSmile 3 stone, 8.25lb to be exact.

Down to 11 stone 4.75lb Smile

Only 5.75lb to go until I'm into a "normal" BMI Grin ....I'm going to make that my September target.

LeapinLizards · 25/07/2018 12:10

Brilliant news @m0therofdragons! Big relief for you after the uncertainty.

Another who's very impressed with the self-discipline of @Bingenomore on the camping trip.

LeapinLizards · 25/07/2018 12:12

That's a brilliant achievement @prettybird. What a great loss you've had. I think the most impressive bit is how you fall off the wagon BUT CLIMB BACK ON when many would fall off and stay off.

BIWI · 25/07/2018 13:26

Congratulations, @m0therofdragons! Flowers

And also to you, @prettybird! Gin Star
