Good morning all, for the final Monday of this Bootcamp.

Here's the spreadsheet for its last outing!

I hope very much that the last ten weeks have been successful for everyone - whether that's on the scales, seeing your clothes fit better, better health and general enjoyment of your food!

I'll keep this chat thread going, and when it's full, will start another one until we start the next Bootcamp, which will start in mid-October.

Yes next Monday blackMozart.
I've a wedding Sat 20th, I. Ordered a skirt from coast and started low carbing following the two weeks induction. The skirt arrived last week and was too tight on the waste band and kicked out too much on my already big ass. I'd resigned my self to wearing something else but tried on the skirt this morning and it fits!Grin just about so hopefully another week will make it even better. It's not that I've lost a huge amount since the skirt arrived just that my stomach is a lot less bloated.

BIWI · 13/10/2018 08:01

Next week can't come soon enough for me either. I've had a lovely summer in one way, but a terrible time from the point of view of food, and low carbing has sometimes been but a distant memory!

We seem to have loads signed up again - last time I counted it was 124, but I'd say at least another 20 have joined up since then!

I'm just doing my shopping list now. I think i'm going to do a creamy Leek and Cauliflower soup and freeze it for my lunches this week.

Looking forward to doing pork belly again! Haven't had that in a while. And cheesy leeks too!

prettybird · 13/10/2018 10:00

Sidles up to BlackMozart and whispers "Me too" Blush

I was actually really good up until September and then fell off the wagon. Not sure how much of it was the changed routine as a result of ds going off to Uni that's my excuse anyway and I'm sticking to it Grin

I’ve had a couple of not so great weekends - last weekend was my daughter’s birthday so I knew I’d have a piece of cake and some of her favourite meal. It’s taken me almost a whole week to get back to ‘normal’ - felt permanently hungry with a massive craving for bread! It’s been a good lesson that I cannot let my carb intake creep up too much without setting up a spiral of feeling hungry and increased cravings.

BlackMozart · 13/10/2018 22:17

Thanks prettybird I know I’m not alone but I have been a complete twat. I’m not sure I will ever understand my capacity for self-sabotage though. Back to the grindstone.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 14/10/2018 07:57

Another one here for the Twat Group.

Deliberately choosing to eat and drink things that will make me physically feel worse (and pretty instantaneously too, not in some airy-fairy ortherexic clean-eating guilt way).

Some things because they do in fact taste great (hot brown toast with butter), others because it's emotional habit (wine and crisps on a Friday), and still others in a destructive/defiant mood (two sandwiches on the train, despite knowing I'll spend the last bit of the journey in the loo).

I'm just going to hang on to the fact that when I'm in full low carb BC mode, I very rarely feel the urge to do any of the above.

BIWI · 14/10/2018 08:26

Let's get all the confessions out on the table before tomorrow Grin

I was quite disappointed in DH last night. To be fair we had potatoes with our evening meal as i was using them up ready for this week. Had done by bootcamp shop with just a few non BC things for DS packed lunches.

DH then comes home with sweets to eat with Strictly. Did i refuse them? Of course i didn't, and they weren't even nice. But i am disappointed that he wasn't more supportive, especially as i don't think he fancies me at this size.

It's always going to be hard when he doesn't need to watch what he eats. He is always trying to pack muscle on so lifts weights and does protein shakes etc. But he can basically eat what he likes. And does!

GreyPJs · 14/10/2018 10:03

Good morning all.

I wondered if you have any thoughts on the Tom Kerridge low carb cookbook?

We’ve been using that for the last few weeks and for the first two weeks I experienced weight loss but for the last three or so, I’ve either stayed the same or gone up a bit. We’re not eating anything that isn’t in the book! Any thoughts?

Will be signing up to bootcamp!

prettybird · 14/10/2018 10:38

GreyJPs - do you mean the Dopamine Diet book?

I have it and have used it and enjoyed its recipes (although in some cases just for inspiration as I find it a bit "faffy").

In terms of Boot Camp I have a few thoughts.

  1. You might just be experiencing the normal Weeks 3 and 4 "stall".
  1. Are you having enough water? The OP of this thread has a link to the Rules and that includes how much water you should be having.
  1. Tom Kerridge uses a lot of artificial sweeteners which we discourage on Boot Camp. I've been doing it a long time so will use them (after the 1st weeks strict Boot Camp) for special occasions/when I'm having people over for dinner.
  1. He also uses lots of nuts, which we also avoid on strict Boot Camp (can be reintroduced in moderation after the 1st 2 weeks).
  1. Ditto with berries: not allowed in the 1st 2 weeks.
Butterfly44 · 14/10/2018 10:58

Confessions 👀 Tonight I'm going to Byron's and ordering a freakshake to go with 😂 Last illegal meal before boot camp tomorrow

BIWI · 14/10/2018 11:33

@GreyPJs You're experiencing the dreaded 3-4 (sometimes 5) slow down.

Don't panic, keep on going, and you'll be fine.

I quite like Kerridge's book, but I don't like the processed stuff he uses (Bisto Chicken Gravy Granules is one example) of the amount of artificial sweeteners.

And I don't think a lot of his recipes are especially low carb either!

We have 3/4bottle of Wine left over from weekend ( left over wine?Shock) .. il be drinking that tonight.. otherwise am ready for tomorrow -oh but I did have a salted caramel ice cream cone yesterday on our (v long) walk . (whilst we are in confessing mode ) .

I'm expecting to start BC tomorrow probably about 4/5lbs up from the end of the last one I hope its not more

Laska5772 · 14/10/2018 13:11

Ack!.. forgot about no berries.. ill miss the raspberries and creme fraiche ive been indulging in a bit also

prettybird · 14/10/2018 13:30

Dh is insisting on opening a bottle of wine tonight - but as he is going to join me on Boot Camp, I'm not going to protest too much WinkWine

Lonesurvivor · 14/10/2018 13:30

I'll have the two week full bootcamp over before Monday, I'm ok to start on bootcamp light aren't I, once I don't blather on about eating stuff not allowed on full bootcamp?

prettybird · 14/10/2018 13:32

Lonesurvivor - that will be fine, I'm sure. And congratulations on completing the 1st 2 weeks already Smile

I always keep schtum about the 2 Brazil nuts I have daily for the selenium Wink

Lonesurvivor · 14/10/2018 13:40

Thanks prettybird I'm glad it's over, knowing I have a wedding first week of bootcamp spurred me on to step away from carby twatDom.

Does just two Brazil nuts provide enough selenium, that's good to know.

prettybird · 14/10/2018 13:42

That's what I read somewhere years ago Grin but don't ask me where Blush

starsky22 · 14/10/2018 17:30

Hi bootcampers, I'm looking forward to starting bootcamp and its nice to see lots of familiar names! My low carbing recently has been sporadic to say the least! I'm currently about 2 lbs over the target weight I got to last November, so haven't done too badly at maintaining, but I can feel bad habits creeping in and want to lose a bit more weight.

I need some help though, in the first 2 weeks of bootcamp I have a work lunch, drinks event, dinner out and a party to go to and I have no choice over the food at 3 of them. What should I do:

  1. Start bootcamp in 2 weeks when I can do it properly
  2. Start bootcamp tomorrow, but don't worry about what I eat/drink at the events
  3. Start bootcamp tomorrow, stick to it strictly and either don't attend the events or attend & not eat/sneak in low carb snacks
ilovecherries · 14/10/2018 20:02

Looking forward to starting tomorrow and getting more support again :). Final push for last half stone I want off before my breast reduction. Apparently that in itself will take off another 4-5 lbs ShockBlush. I’m still just under 11 stone (by about 4 ounces Grin) but I really want to be about 10 stone 5 before surgery, although surgeon says he’s happy with the weight I am, and what I describe as the World’s Longest Stall he describes as 8 months of maintenance. If I can get that last bit off, that will make it just over 6 stone in total, plus whatever I lose via the surgery. BlushShock Again! I’ve never really come off it at all, but think I probably need to be more mindful about portions now, plus I’ve eaten more salad veg than normal over the summer.

BIWI · 14/10/2018 20:03

I'd say (3). But see what you can do about controlling your food choices at the actual event - contact the organisers/hosts and see what you can do. But don't not go, and don't not start!
