Good morning all, for the final Monday of this Bootcamp.

Here's the spreadsheet for its last outing!

I hope very much that the last ten weeks have been successful for everyone - whether that's on the scales, seeing your clothes fit better, better health and general enjoyment of your food!

I'll keep this chat thread going, and when it's full, will start another one until we start the next Bootcamp, which will start in mid-October.

prettybird · 26/09/2018 12:10

Good news ilovecherries Smile

In other good news, brussel sprouts are back in stock in Lidl Grin

Long term Boot Campers will understand why I am so happy Wink and some have succumbed to the addiction too Grin

Rayna37 · 26/09/2018 13:02

Sprouts Grin I've been in a bit of a green veg rut so this is good news! Debating if I can get away with microwave sprouts for lunch at work...

Laska5772 · 27/09/2018 19:38

Oh I am having 'Totally bored with food day'..I am so bored with food ..
So far today have eaten: , some cheese (quite a lot - about 150g I reckon) , a small fried steak, a handful of fresh raspberries
and a few sticks of celery
Also 2 glasses of Wine Blush I was giving up wasn't I?

I have courgettes . mushrooms etc . but I really cannot be As'd

Tomorrow though (when DH back from working away all week ) I am making Veal Tonnato Yum! (I hope so anyway - never had it before but there was some rose veal reduced in Waitrose today)

Laska5772 · 27/09/2018 19:40

Yuk sprouts! I love dark green cabbage though, so cant quite work out why I still have a sprout aversion..

Justmuddlingalong · 27/09/2018 20:55

Please send willpower!! There are 2 white, fresh, fluffy, full of a gazillion carbs, breakfast rolls in my kitchen. I'm trying to ignore them, but I'm only human. Please give me the kick up the backside I need. 😩

Laska5772 · 27/09/2018 21:14

seriously justmuddling dont.. I ate a ham sadwich and an ice cream, the other week thena LC curry ( but with half a nan bread because i had already cheated that day ) after, and put on 7lbs in one weekend! .It refilled my Glycogen store with carbs and it took me all week to lose it again (plus DREADFUL, dreadful toilet issues for the next 2 days)

Just.Dont..

You have been warned.. ( esp about the Toilet Issues)

Laska5772 · 27/09/2018 21:14

.. Hope i am not too late with my warning..

Justmuddlingalong · 27/09/2018 21:21

No, @Laska5772, I've managed to restrain myself. I may sniff them, but I will not eat them. I've been careful all day so I'm not going to sabotage my day. Thank you for the support.

Rshard · 30/09/2018 13:53

Just tucking into a bowl of sprouts which made me think of you guys. So yummy

prettybird · 30/09/2018 15:04

Laska - every time I see your post, I read it as a warning about potential "toilet tissues " Confused and have visions about lots of toilet paper being required Grin which does fit with your warning WinkBlush

AthelstaneTheUnready · 07/10/2018 18:12

hi, everyone

My internet provider has finally reinstated my internet at my new address! Hoorah! only took a month, grumble grumble

Thanks @prettybird Blush (she typed, mellifluously) - and I'm very glad you stood up when I arrived or I would never in a million years have recognised you from the photos - you looked like a little pocket venus who has never been overweight in her life!

Lone, the sneaky sugar always enrages me; I've virtually given up buying ham because trying to find some without effing added sugar is difficult.

Good news on the referral, cherries - it will make such a difference in so many ways, so wishing you a very short wait!

Talking of weight , I am still bumping around the same few pounds up and down from the end of last bootcamp. Since I've been eating like a pig, and with as little discrimination, I do not deserve this - but have a sinking feeling that I'm a little more flab to muscle ratio than I was, which might account for some of it. Time to get a grip and lose at least another 1/2 stone of wobble on this next bootcamp!

HenryInTheTunnel · 07/10/2018 22:09

Have read this whole thread over a few sittings today and it's geared me right up for the next BC!! Have done it before but i let some big life stuff pull me off the wagon. I've known i needed to start again for ages but been putting it off. The lure of the easy carbs!

Hoping to use this week to dip my toe back in the water including:

  • massively upping my water intake. Putting away the teacup on my desk so that i'm reminded to go for water, not brews.
  • replacing potatoes, bread, pasta and rice with FLGV
  • making lists of recipes that i can't wait to try
  • using up the non BC compatible foods i have already (carrots, tomatoes etc)

So this week will be lower carb but not LC proper, so i'm not going hard for the high fat bit until my big shop next weekend. Grin

AthelstaneTheUnready · 08/10/2018 19:06

Welcome, Henry Grin

Cracking prep work there! With you on the kitchen full of lovely, healthy, colourful veg, that happens to be non-BC... I see an awful lot of roast veg in my immediate future.

And I'm so glad you just said 'high fat' as I'd forgotten the duck breasts in the oven - fortunately rescued just 5 minutes over time.

BIWI · 08/10/2018 19:15

@HenryInTheTunnel

Aaaawwwww @AthelstaneTheUnready - no-one has ever described me as a "little pocket venus" BlushGrin You've made my day Flowers

So pleased that you've finally got internet access.

If you ever fancy some clothes shopping, I'll be happy to show you around the Glasgow shops and spend money vicariously through you Wink But you already seem to have a great sense of style.

Lonesurvivor · 10/10/2018 19:08

Is anyone else as excited as I am for the next Bootcamp to start, Monday can't come quick enough. I'm really looking forward to the chit chat and mutual supportSmile
I've faffed about a lot since the last one finished and was battling the same fair few pounds constantly but my head is in the right place this last while and fingers crossed I may start on Monday a little lighter than when I finished the last one.

HenryInTheTunnel · 10/10/2018 19:42

I'm excited too @Lonesurvivor ! I need some more structure.

Please can someone advise me as to what to buy in for satisfying snacks?

My total downfall is the period between getting in from work and getting tea on the table. To be quite honest, i think it borders on bingeing some days. Lately i've been making toast while i'm cooking dinner. I know it's stupid but i start thinking about it on the (long) drive home so it's all i want when i get in. One bad days, i've seen me stop at a petrol station for sweets too but i've managed not to do that for a while.

Tonight, i ended up having 2 slices of cheese on toast and the remainder of a tin of tuna that i'd opened for DS's packed lunch.

I didn't even really want my meal any more when it was ready FFS!

BIWI · 10/10/2018 22:28

@HenryInTheTunnel

If you're eating low carb 'properly' - i.e. also high fat - then you shouldn't be hungry.

However, a lot of snacking is based on habit (and also emotionally-driven).

The kind of snacks that would be OK should be those that are low/zero carb as well as high fat, so cheese and olives would be perfect. Nuts and seeds are OK but can be very carby very quickly so be careful about those.

The other thing to think about is if you're drinking enough water - hunger can often actually be thirst!

I’m so looking forward to it lonesurvivor, in fact I’m going to start today.

I’ve been broadly maintaining since the end of last boot camp but this last week I’ve been eating dreadfully - no particular reason why but I’m stopping it today!

Laska5772 · 11/10/2018 19:16

Oh , I am about4 pounds up now from the end of last BC , But I have been hitting the Wine rather .. ..
ah well.. I think week 10 is the week my birthday falls in , so it will be good to think that I shall be less for that !

I have been following the plan eating though and today I tried LC muffins wit almond and coconut flour for the first time ,as i have really been fancying marmite on toast.. I have to say , i wasnt keen on the finished thing and wont be making it again , but if you like a 'sweetish' bread thing , you may like it and it certainly is quick and easy . .. Also this recipe takes a lot longer than she says to cook in the microwave. so I suggest you at least double the time she says and keep checking ( I had to do it for about 5 mins in the end and my microwave is pretty good)

Then this evening i made these Courgette cheesy chorizo muffins as I am out all day on an early start training course and the breakfast and lunch will not be suitable.. I ate a couple for dinner as well and they are really nice . I shredded and fried the chorizo and a shallot with a a chopped mild chilli before I put it into the mixture.

Again, the proportions in the recipe are not quite right , I only added 3 eggs and had to put a dessert spoon of coconut flour in also as it was too runny ..I also baked them for 20 minutes not 12. but they came out really well . so I have a brunch to take with me .

Laska5772 · 11/10/2018 19:18

another go for the muffin recipe

BlackMozart · 12/10/2018 10:41

Hello everyone, sidles in quietly. I will not bore you with my carby woes but I will try and gird my loins as it were to rejoin. Is it next week the fun starts? 🙂
