BIWI · 23/07/2018 07:42

Good morning all, for the final Monday of this Bootcamp.

Here's the spreadsheet for its last outing!

I hope very much that the last ten weeks have been successful for everyone - whether that's on the scales, seeing your clothes fit better, better health and general enjoyment of your food!

I'll keep this chat thread going, and when it's full, will start another one until we start the next Bootcamp, which will start in mid-October.

Hello everyone!

Long time (very lapsed Blush) BCer. Suddenly got my arse back in gear and planning on joining the Oct BC Grin

In the meantime I need to share this gnocchi recipe with you, it was AMAZING!

TerfsUp · 20/09/2018 08:43

Oh, that gnocchi recipe looks great. I miss pasta and gnocchi so will definitely be giving that a try.

Thank you!

StuntNun · 20/09/2018 14:27

Time a lot of runners/cyclists favour bananas for energy when you're low carb but need an extra boost. They're carby but give a slower rise in blood glucose than the gels.

Wildheartsease · 20/09/2018 21:12

(namechanged)

Well, a planned camping holiday (in France - with all that lovely food) and an unplanned early return -due to Dad ending up in hospital back at home- wasn't good for sticking to the bootcamp ideals.

I feared that all the lost weight would be back in place... but I checked this morning and seem to be less than a pound up!

Thinking back, I've eaten carby things (tea and cake was an essential part of family hospital-visiting and French bread was lovely) - but haven't been tempted to overeat in the way I would have in the past.

You can have a holiday - eat with other people and fit in ...and then get back to work without needing to start all over again.

No yo-yo-ing? It really isn't a diet.

(+Against all the odds, Dad is making a great recovery.)

m0therofdragons · 20/09/2018 23:07

Wow, the summer holidays threw me way off the wagon and all weight lost went back on. So frustrated and struggling to get back into it with new job. I was so tired tonight I just ate lots of cake for dinner! This is not me so I need to stop this nonsense. I'm all good until about 5.30pm onwards. Will start again from now! No cheating

TimeIhadaNameChange · 21/09/2018 09:11

m0ther - I'm similar in that I'm good all day, then dive into food of an evening. Last night was particularly bad. But the fault lies earlier on in the day, as all I'd had was a dry salad with ham (didn't get round to putting any oil on as I was distracted) followed by some yoghurt and double cream. Walked the two miles home at gone 8 and went straight into cooking dinner.

What was missing from the day was not only a fat on my salad (either have olive oil or mayo) but also my usual 5 o' clock snack (cheese, ham or the like) which gets me through my (usually run) journey home. I had had a small slice of cake earlier on in the afternoon which really didn't help matters.

Could you factor in a small high-protein, high-fat snack some time before half five? It might help stop the munchies if you intercept them.

m0therofdragons · 21/09/2018 14:00

Yep I need to up protein and fat in the day. I know this yet have fallen back into the eat less/starve to lose weight mode (in my brain) which I know I'll fail at.

Wildheartsease · 22/09/2018 09:35

Perhaps the lack of gain was because I still have so much to lose?

(I was expecting gains- they usually happen - especially in a stressful situation like this.)

ItsalmostSummer · 23/09/2018 02:39

I am back too. Ill weigh in this week if the spread sheet still works :) I think I’ve put on a few.

Countdownto40 · 23/09/2018 21:38

right.. drawnig a line again.. I have followed all the food principles but the Wine consumption has gone up .. damage is not that bad ( about 3lbs from last end of bootcamp weight) but I want it off again beforehe strat of the next one!! ..

Last December was my 60th and we had a fab city break in Florence.. but I was way over what I would have wanted to weigh, (almost 2 stone heavier than now) .

I want to be at least another 10lbs lighter than my end of bootcamp weight for my 61st so that means a whole stone to lose from today..

Thats a good goal i reckon , so I'm back on bootcamp as from tomorrow.. (would be today, but im visiting parents and subject to what they have in for lunch, )

ilovecherries · 24/09/2018 09:40

I’m just back from nearly 4 weeks in various parts of Spain and my weight is...2 ounces down Grin. I’m really pleased at this woe is obviously so ingrained now that it doesn’t feel like deprivation, it’s just what I do. My only off piste wanderings were I did have whitebait a few times, and they had been dipped in flour before frying, and coffee came with milk, nowhere appeared to have unsweetened cream. But I walked 6 + miles every day. That in itself was miraculous because in the past the heat would have killed me had I tried to move about, plus I never had the right clothes, but this year I was able to wear shorts and vest tops. Total revelation. I came back to some amazing news as well - I’ve been approved for a breast reduction! It will be about 6-9 months now, so in that time I would like to loose another stone, just to see if that finally shrinks my chest, and if it doesn’t, then at least I will be in optimal condition for the surgery.

ilovecherries · 24/09/2018 09:56

I’m not super-hopeful that any more weightloss WILL reduce my chest, as proportionally it’s stayed the same through 5+ stones. Started at 40K, and I’m now 32K. Realistically, the surgeon is hopeful that an E/F will be attainable, so they still won’t be tiny, but certainly more manageable.

Gammeldragz · 24/09/2018 12:16

ilovecherries excellent news, that will have a huge impact on your comfort and back I imagine. Also clothes will fit better!

I'm still LC but just not losing, had this weekend off and gained 5lbs! Hoping it goes quickly. I have managed maintenance but haven't lost anything for months, so I need a clear plan for next bootcamp as I still have a stone to lose. I've slipped into bad habits of not enough FLGV and too much high fat foods that aren't nutritional enough (cream and peanut butter!).

Rshard · 24/09/2018 12:51

Hi , lovely to see people about again. I’ve also mainly maintained my weight from the end of last bootcamp, couple over at the moment but want to be back there for 25 October start. Like others sneaking onto bad habits! I’m so close to my goal!

Excellent and exciting news ilove

Lonesurvivor · 24/09/2018 13:09

Hi all, it is lovely to see people back again Rshard shows how keen we all are for bootcampGrin

Well done on sticking to plan on your lovely long holiday Ilovecherries. Isn't it amazing how our individual bodies work when you've lost all that weight and your boobs have stayed the same. Does it cause you much back pain? I'd imagine it makes choosing clothes, especially dresses extra hard too.

I've lost 7 of the 9 pounds I'd gained so hoping to get the last two off and start seeing further results very soon and hit that oh so near 3 stone off Mark.
It's taken a while but I've managed to cut out snacking which has really helped with dropping the pounds. It's been hard to do though, snacking is my weakness but the results are worth it.

ilovecherries · 24/09/2018 14:14

Thanks everyone, I am so pleased. The GP promised he’d refer me and support my request if I reached a BMI of 30, as that’s the highest you will be considered at. I hit that last August and he felt that since it would be about 6 months before I’d be seen, and was losing weight steadily, we should go ahead with the referral. Waited about 6 months and had my first of three assessments in Feb by which time I had a BMI of under 25 so my weight was pretty much right out of the equation really. I kept hoping I would lose more off my chest but it never really happened. Obviously a 32K is MUCH smaller than a 40K but proportionally it’s the same and the surgeon doesn’t believe I will get significantly smaller even if I lose more. Surgeon made a referral to the funding committee at the end of June and it was approved exactly a year after the original referral. I’m now officially on the waiting list. Smile

Countdownto40 · 24/09/2018 16:33

Hi everyone

I've started today. Brunch was 97% pork sausage and eggs. Dinner is lasagne with a green salad. Must try and avoid garlic bread!!!

ilovecherries · 24/09/2018 17:09

Welcome, countdown :). Just checking re your lasagne - have you used something else other than pasta, (eg courgette slices) and made a flour-free sauce? Asking because in the beginning it’s really easy to forget the less obvious carbs.

Countdownto40 · 24/09/2018 17:14

I'm going to pick out the pasta but argh I forgot about flour Blush It's only got 25g in it spread amongst 6 people so minimal damage?

Laska5772 · 24/09/2018 20:21

cherries that's great news (something I have always wanted but seriously worried about doing it , id have to go private id reckon anyway as 36E probably wouldn't be considered that large ..but I'd love to be a nice neat B cup )

ilovecherries · 24/09/2018 20:56

I thought I would get refused on the basis of age, but both the GP and the surgeon were very supportive about the degree to which it limited life and caused chronic pain (to the extent that I felt quite sorry for myself by the end, lol!). Also needed to have a psychological assessment to ensure no body dysmorphia then after all that it goes to a funding committee. Now I have NHS approval as a necessity surgery rather than cosmetic we are actually going to see if DH’s private healthcare via his work will cover it.
