Week 9 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Just two weeks to go!

Evening all.

As promised, I'm starting the next week's chat thread early. I'm in the lounge at Heathrow, waiting for my flight to China. By the time I arrive at my destination it will be around mid-afternoon in the UK so thought I'd better do this now!

Here's the Spreadsheet

Hopefully no glitches with it this week.

So we have reached the last two weeks. Still time to lose a few pesky pounds. One thing you could consider doing, if you feel like it, is going back to Bootcamp and having a strict couple of weeks to finish off.

But whatever you decide, hope you have a good week.

2 pounds off for me this week after nothing last week making a total of 17.

Tried to meal plan last night but was too hot and irritable so just slung loads of low carb stuff in the trolley at Tesco and will just have to cobble some meals together from the fridge. It will be like playing ready steady cook! 😂

Twoo · 09/07/2018 10:12

Oh bless you Gamme’ , such a disappointment for you. Hope it comes off quickly!

Gammeldragz · 09/07/2018 10:15

Thanks Twoo I knew it would cost me, but blimey that was a shock!

Twoo · 09/07/2018 10:18

I imagine most of that will be water/glycogen in your muscles .... water water water and on point with this woe should get rid pretty quickly :)

DramaAlpaca · 09/07/2018 10:27

Stayed the same this week but had an upward blip midweek which is off again now. Will KOKO.

StuntNun · 09/07/2018 10:50

I'm up too Gammel but Auntie Flo just arrived so I'm hoping that's the problem.

prettybird · 09/07/2018 10:54

Rather too much wine over the weekend so I'll be weighing in tomorrow Wink

Place mat king Grin

I just wanted to say Seafour, that no-one could think that of you in any way. They will see your love for your family and your incredible resilience and positive outlook. Be nice to yourself, you're amazing!

NorthernKnickers · 09/07/2018 12:33

Thanks @BIWI ...enjoy your trip (China...Wow!!)

2lb off for me this week making 17 in total. Happy with that. I'm so impressed with how well people are doing...even the tiny losses all add up! I've been up and down over the past four weeks...but fingers crossed those big gains (some days up 4lb from the day before 😱) are evening out and a more realistic 'steady loss' pattern seems to be emerging.

@Seafour your current weight is less than my current target...you look amazing and will shine on Saturday 💐

significantfish · 09/07/2018 12:56

Hello, I've only posted once on a thread but I've lurked on them all since the beginning. My weight loss is slow too, 7lb off since the beginning of BC but I have lost 3 inches off my waist and 1.5 inches from my hips which is amazing!

I've had a few fuck it moments when I've seen other people's huge losses but I feel like this woe has just become how I eat now. I'm not craving any carbs, I've stopped grazing on the kid's leftovers and my crisp habit has been beaten into submission (it was replaced by a pork scratching habit for a bit but that's better now)

So overall I'm happy and will definitely KOKO. My original plan to lose a stone by summer is now to lose two by Christmas which will take me to goal.

Thanks everyone for your posts, tips and enthusiasm. It's a massive help to read how everyone else is doing!

bibliomania · 09/07/2018 13:19

Bobbing up and down over the same 2lbs, but it's still a total of 6lb since the start of BC, which isn't so bad. I talked on last week's thread about dropping breakfast so I'm doing 16:8, so I've been doing it the last couple of days and it feels fine, so I'm optimistic.

Seafour · 09/07/2018 13:34

Gosh, sorry everyone for the self pitying rant this morning. Life is a wee bit stressful right now. Your kindness and positive messages mean the world.

Twoo · 09/07/2018 15:17

Seafour you are dealing with beyond normal life circumstances & health worries ... you’re allowed to rant Grin

I’ve bean reading Gary Taubes book ‘why we get fat’. His eating plan is very much like this woe. In his book he lists foods that can be enjoyed in limited quantities. Some of which are cream, cheese, mayo, oil, pork scratchings. All my favourite things. I wish I’d read his book earlier Grin

Imho his book is worth a read.

Luki · 09/07/2018 15:26

I think my scales have finally given up Grin Mondays weight: 11 stone, 10. Thursdays weight: 11 stone, 8. Today's weight: 10 stone, 12!! So a loss of 10lbs in 5 days. Hmm Even the whoosh fairy isn't that generous Grin

I'm still going to allow myself to think it's true for a few days until I can go out and buy new batteries Grin

LeapinLizards · 09/07/2018 17:28

@Luki, wow, your scalesShock. Maybe the weight loss is real??
@Seafour, you're an inspiration to us all & 7lb is brilliant, esp given everything else you've had going on. Enjoy the wedding.

qumquat · 09/07/2018 17:39

@seafour remembering your photos the other week you most certainly don't look disgusting; you look great and the difference in your before and after photos was really clear. 7lb in 8 weeks is pretty much a lb a week which is a great rate of weight loss.

I am happy today as I've broken into a new stone zone after faffing around the same two lbs for weeks. I am being more careful with my lunches which I think has definitely made a difference. 8lb down in total for me since the start which I'm happy with.

Mimosa1 · 09/07/2018 17:44

@Seafour 7lbs in 8 weeks is very good indeed, it's more than I've lost

I am intrigued about body set points though. I'm now bobbing up and down 71-72kg - a weight I was for years. It's just in the inside of a normal bmi and 15kg since I had the baby. I couldn't have done it withoutBC but there hasn't really been much change for for a few months. I've lost just over 2.5kg this BC but I'd put it back on after Christmas when I was less strict so it's not a loss loss iyswim. Does a set point sound halfway plausible or in the nicest poss way, am I making excuses?

BlackMozart · 09/07/2018 17:56

seafour in the picture you posted of yourself earlier in the threads you could not be described as fat or ugly!! You will look fantastic.
Well done for any losses big and small and for those stoically kokoing.
I will weigh tomorrow but am in the camp of basically putting on and taking off the same few pounds all the time. It is demotivating because even when I stuck religiously to it in the first five weeks I still only lost a few pounds so I will stick it out until the end of bootcamp and then have a re-think.

Gammeldragz · 09/07/2018 18:02

Mimosa I stuck at around 12 stone for ages, having gained and lost over Christmas and since. Took ages to start moving down again, so I do think it's a thing. Until this weekend I had settled at around 11 and a half for a few weeks and I'm fully expecting to struggle to move past that point as well, but I know that with perseverance it will move again.
I have no science for this, but I'm sure it's a thing.

AlwaysAToDoList · 09/07/2018 18:16

Hi, sorry to intrude Smile I’m going to be starting this tomorrow and just wondered if you’d all had good results for quick fat loss?

I lost 4 stone from sensible eating and exercise and I’ve completely stalled for months. Hoping this will be the jump start

Destinysdaughter · 09/07/2018 18:53

Hi all, just caught up with the end of the last thread and wanted to say something about my experience of low carb baking. I've done this WOE before and the thing I always really struggled with was breakfast. I couldn't face either something fatty in the morning or cooking something so for me, making low carb cakes, brownies, muffins etc was a good way for me to eat something that was quick and 'like' carbs. I never ate many sweet things normally, as I'd rarely allow myself to, so for me, I'm not triggered by them, as some pp are. They were also great for a mid afternoon snack and are v portable. I've now lost 2 stones since Jan so it has worked for me and stopped me diving into carbs first thing in the morning when my resolve is weakest!

3stonedown · 09/07/2018 20:06

@Alwaysatodolist when I started boot camp in May I had lost 3 stone and had stalled and for me personally it's given me a big jumpstart. Knocked another stone off (even after 2 weeks of cheating) and continuing to lose, plus all the other benefits of just feeling so much better. I would definitely give it a go in your circumstances

AlwaysAToDoList · 09/07/2018 20:21

My meal plan is like this

  • Protein Shake
  • Pasta and Chicken
(Pasta is chickpea and less than 20g of carbs)
  • Protein Shake
  • Feta and Mushroom Omelette

I’ve worked out my macros and it’s 24g carbs per day Smile

StuntNun · 09/07/2018 20:30

If you think you're in a stall then check out the three-day Ubercamp menus on the spreadsheet. It's ultra low carb and works well for shifting a few pounds quickly or breaking a stall.

AlwaysAToDoList · 09/07/2018 20:44

Thank you, I’ll have a look Smile
