Week 5 - Low Carb Bootcamp - the end of the first half

Morning all.

A very early start to this week's chat thread, as I'm 8 hours ahead of the UK right now.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness one more time

Hopefully by now, low carbing is starting to become a habit rather than a hardship. We're out of the dreaded weeks 4 & 4, so for those who haven't seen much movement on the scales, things should start to get going again now (although don't expect to see huge losses from here on - around 1-2lbs a week is a normal and healthy rate of loss)

For those who aren't seeing any movement in the bathroom Grin make sure you're eating plenty of fat - see how you can find ways to add more fat to your diet. Similarly water. And look at what you're eating, and be sure that you're getting your carbs in the main from veg and salad.

I have noticed that there's a fair bit of slippage cheating starting to creep in, and I'm calling you all on that! Remember that this isn't an especially forgiving way of eating, and if you cheat, you won't lose!

But good luck for the rest of the week

Should have added - that's 9.5lb since the start of this Boot Camp, which includes the classic Weeks 3 and 4 stalls.

prettybird · 11/06/2018 11:08

Sorry to hear about your dad LeapinLizards - but glad you and your sister were able to be with him Flowers

@MrsBertBibby

Blimey. Facebook is spamming me with a company (pushed by a diabetes page) signing people up for LCHF advice, with a registration fee of 30 notes! Daylight robbery!

I know! £25 for Bootcamp is such a bargain, don't you think? Wink

Thanks BIWI for the new thread and well done for all the losses!

I'm pleased reddot that you've seen a good loss after your concerns, this woe really does work!

My trip into the 9's from last Thursday (was late weighing in last week) has stuck, so I'm really happy. I've only lost 2lbs this bootcamp but am now only 6'lbs from goal.

Good luck to all those to still weigh and to guy for that exam

3stonedown · 11/06/2018 11:19

redpandamama I'd do olives and burger (ask no bun and salad instead of chips) and a black coffee for dessert

devoncreamtea · 11/06/2018 11:19

Sorry to hear your sad news lizards

Well done on the shifting pounds ajandjjmum!

Skuse my ignorance, but what is this husk you speak of?! I remember getting a touch clogged last time I tried this woe, so it might be good to get some in if it does the trick (whatever it is!).

Congratulations grimbles on your pregnancy! flowers

I am just getting going with the BC! Effectively on week 1...but bearing your terrific collective advice in mind, this morning I was ravenous and remembered 'more fat' so I cooked mushrooms in butter and added cream to my scrambled eggs and now I feel - if anything - a bit too full!!! Definitely helps to stop the feeling that I "ought" to fill myself up with a bit of bread. I am not great at the water either, which would probably help those kind of feelings...

havent weighed or anything as no scales!

Well done threedots that is a great start, any tips for the first week?

Destinysdaughter · 11/06/2018 11:24

Psyllium husk is a good way of relieving constipation. You can buy it online

Hi everyone i'm back after a couple of weeks. would love to say i stuck to the plan but did not manage that so have gained.

Unfortunately didn't have too much choice in this as i had a severe back problem followed by surgery last week so my mobility has been very bad although i have pushed through on breast feeding.

This all made eating properly very difficult, i admit that i could have done better but the pain was not good for my will power and i didn't have a lot of options as i couldn't cook. i have not gained much so i hope to lose it all this week then continue on as planned.

So far had two boiled eggs. planning to go out for a sneaky kebab (minus bread) for lunch.

Dinner will be spicy beef or bolenaise, haven't decided.

Leelaseye · 11/06/2018 12:03

So very sorry for your loss leapin Thanks

It's a 1.75 loss for me this week which is amazing considering I have hammered the wine (embarrassed to admit just how much) and not kept up with the water.
I'm helping with end of life care for my very elderly Nan (we're trying to manage the situation at home, but god it's hard) and haven't really had much appetite but what I have eaten has been on plan. In fact, I reckon I wouldn't have had nearly enough energy to cope if it hadn't been for this WOE, which is something I'm incredibly grateful for.

KOKO everyone xx

Breaking news! My thigh gap, last spotted on a beach in Corfu in 1987 has come back to me!!! I never thought I’d see it again. I thought I spotted a glimpse of it a few weeks back, but decided it was a hallucination. At the gym this morning, looked in the mirror, and there it was in its gorgeous 1 inch glory, winking prettily at me. I examined it carefully from every angle, and it’s true. Grin

Unfortunately the thighs themselves need a bit of attention, but even so...

MrsBertBibby · 11/06/2018 12:39

Sorry you've had such a rough time, cereal. In awe of keeping the be going through all that.

Grin at Cherries.

Lonesurvivor · 11/06/2018 12:45

Thing101 · 11/06/2018 13:24

I think the spreadsheet has gone a bit wonky! Promise it wasn't me!!

traceyturnblatt · 11/06/2018 13:35

Afternoon all, sorry I've been a bit quiet. New diagnosis has come with whole lot of new new-ness which is making me feel shit.

Anyhoo, another 1.4lb off for me but I seem to have disappeared from the spreadsheet?

MrsBertBibby · 11/06/2018 13:49

Sorry it's tough tracey.

Leela, I think wine is more than justified in such hard times. Power to you!

Lonesurvivor · 11/06/2018 13:52

I'm gone from the spreadsheet too now.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 11/06/2018 13:53

ooo-er. Spreadsheet mayhem.

I've re-ordered it again, Thing, but Tracey, I'm afraid your line has been squidged almost to invisibility. I'll see what I can do now if everyone could give me five minutes without changing anything

AthelstaneTheUnready · 11/06/2018 13:57

Right, fixed.

Someone had tried filtering some of the data*, which turned some of you invisible. Back now.

  • which of course is interesting and informative, but do please put it back when you've finished!
BIWI · 11/06/2018 14:01

PLEASE DON'T TRY AND TINKER WITH THE SPREADSHEET!

Just enter your weight and leave the spreadsheet alone. It's a lot of work for @AthelstaneTheUnready otherwise

Thing101 · 11/06/2018 14:02

Thank you Athelstane - I am in awe of your spreadsheet mastery!!

Lonesurvivor · 11/06/2018 14:16

Thanks AthelstaneTheUnready I'm in awe too of how you manage it, I can just about enter my weightGrin

ItsalmostSummer · 11/06/2018 14:47

Congrats everyone this week!! I have put on 0.3. Strange but the. I am not drinking enough water. Otherwise I am doing full bootcamp. I have said no to wine and sweets this week. Yay! Anyway I will keep on keeping on, because next week should be a good weigh in.
Oh and lastly, I found my hip bones this last week. That was a good surprise Shock
