Week 5 - Low Carb Bootcamp - the end of the first half

Morning all.

A very early start to this week's chat thread, as I'm 8 hours ahead of the UK right now.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness one more time

Hopefully by now, low carbing is starting to become a habit rather than a hardship. We're out of the dreaded weeks 4 & 4, so for those who haven't seen much movement on the scales, things should start to get going again now (although don't expect to see huge losses from here on - around 1-2lbs a week is a normal and healthy rate of loss)

For those who aren't seeing any movement in the bathroom Grin make sure you're eating plenty of fat - see how you can find ways to add more fat to your diet. Similarly water. And look at what you're eating, and be sure that you're getting your carbs in the main from veg and salad.

I have noticed that there's a fair bit of slippage cheating starting to creep in, and I'm calling you all on that! Remember that this isn't an especially forgiving way of eating, and if you cheat, you won't lose!

But good luck for the rest of the week

Morning all. Annoyingly 2lb up from Friday which means I have STS this week and took me out of my 1 stone down achievement. Oh well, as a daily weigher I am now used to little ups and downs overnight, I am sure I will be fine by the end of the week.

On a positive note, I have 2 weddings to go to in the summer and the dresses I had planned for them are now way too big so I need a hunt for a size 12 dress!

Good luck on your exam guy

Kleptronic · 11/06/2018 08:25

2lb down for me.

abbey44 · 11/06/2018 08:26

Morning, thanks BIWI (though it'll be afternoon for you)

Only 1lb off this week, but the measurements are shrinking. Have spent the weekend having a massive trying-on session of stuff in my wardrobe and anything that's too big is OUT. I'm not going back there again! Am putting it on eBay like there's no tomorrow, but it's going to take a while to list it all, there's that much. Shameful. But the other side of it is that I'm rediscovering things I'd forgotten I had from years back that now fit - a white linen Armani jacket is a particular treasure Smile. Thank goodness I held onto my skinny stuff - I think it almost qualities as vintage now, the length of time it's been since it last fitted!

Luki · 11/06/2018 08:27

Morning all. 3lbs down this morning Smile pleased with that. Half a stone in total since BC started. My clothes are starting to fit better and I'm loving not having so many energy dips. Yesterday I was up at 6am, at work for 4 hours, grocery shopping, 2 loads of washing, 90 minute walk with the dog, cleaned house top to bottom, cooked a roast, and even went to the gym for an hour in the evening! My legs are aching this morning Grin

Well done, everyone. We've made it to week 5! Yay! Flowers

MrsBertBibby · 11/06/2018 08:28

Oh happy frock-shopping 3stone.

I found a load of party and going out frocks in my wardrobe rummage. I went through a phase of wistfully buying things when they were massively reduced, even though I never get to go out like that. Loads of things still have tags in. I kind of wish someone would get hitched so I can see what I can get into now (although most of the stuff in there is from a fair while back, so probably not much yet!)

If I can get back into the dress I bought to wear out on my 40th, I shall be thrilled, but I suspect that won't be in time for my 50th, which is only a few weeks away.

RedPandaMama · 11/06/2018 08:47

1lb on for me, completely deserved as BIWI said I am one of the cheaters. Blush Getting back on it now and hoping for a good loss this week. I have 12 days until I go on holiday and I would like to be another couple of lbs down which would mean I've lost a stone in total.

Goals for the week:
3 litres of water a day, carry water bottle EVERYWHERE
10,000 steps a day + start exercising again, despite my dodgy knee, going to try some yoga and light strength workouts. Aiming to workout today, Wednesday and Friday.
Stick to bootcamp rules. Lots of healthy fats. Aiming for 30g or less of carbs a day, will allow myself 50g today to get back into it. Going to MFP everything for accountability.

Have a good week everyone!

Mimosa1 · 11/06/2018 08:49

2.6kg down (first week woosh), which I'm pleased with, taking me to 71.1kg. I haven't seen the 60s for, oh 5 years or so. I'm worried this is my new set weight, as I've been hovering around 72/3 for 6 months. I'm
Hoping though that it just needed a reset and I will lose again from here.

Good luck with your exam @GuyMartinsSideburns ! What are you studying ? (If it's not too outing!)

3stonedown · 11/06/2018 08:51

MrsBertBibby I'm sure you will use them one day. I threw out all of my "small" dresses a few years ago when I thought I may as well give up ever being a 12 again. What a shame. I struggle with shopping too as I am quite hourglass so things tend to look a bit cheap on me, might have to pop over to S&B for that one.

FuriousFifties · 11/06/2018 09:05

2.8 loss this week for me, pleased as punch with that, thank you everyone for keeping me on track.
leaping sorry for your lossFlowers

Champagnecharleyismyname · 11/06/2018 09:07

3lb loss this week after staying the same the week before.

MrsBertBibby · 11/06/2018 09:11

Blimey. Facebook is spamming me with a company (pushed by a diabetes page) signing people up for LCHF advice, with a registration fee of 30 notes! Daylight robbery!

bibliomania · 11/06/2018 09:14

A slight blow-out on Sat - 3.5 choc biscuits and 2 glasses of wine. Mind you, that would have been a restrained night in in the past, so progress of a sort.

Went for a run on Sun and had to keep pulling up my jogging bottoms up with one hand.

Lonesurvivor · 11/06/2018 09:19

MrsBertBibby
We are really lucky here to be getting so much advice and so many tools to help us from BIWI and the other regulars.
I've paid a fortune over the years for Sw/Ww and combined haven't received the advice and support I have in a few weeks on here.
I know it must be rewarding somewhat to run these threads and help others, other wise why do it, but it must get frustrating too when people won't take on board advice or cheat and expect results. Some days it must take a lot of patienceGrin

GiantPandaAttacks · 11/06/2018 09:47

Morning all. Half a pound off for me, if someone can update the SoF. Not brilliant but a move in the right direction. Going back to catch up on the thread now!

bettyblueeyes83 · 11/06/2018 10:01

Down 1.6, which is an 8.6 loss overall (being a week behind, so this was week 3 for me). Had a very busy week so lots of not-quite-ideal on-the-go eating out, but other than some potentially carby canapes it wasn't too bad, and I've been really good this weekend and cooked some lovely high-fat meals. Not been tempted to waver at all and have upped my veg. Feel well - skin looks great! - and enjoying the freedom of not craving sugary snacks every five minutes. Am still tired but think this is life rather than diet! Followed BIWI's advice and got some High5 Zero electrolyte tabs and have been drinking a pint of water with one in in the mornings, which I think is really helping - no carb flu or cramps yet, which I got badly the first time.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 11/06/2018 10:03

Morning!

Hugs to Northern and leapin, congratulations to Grimbles, good luck vibes to Guy.

Think I've STS this week but will have to wait til tonight, if not tomorrow, to fill in the SS as I've left my phone at home. It's a lot more than I deserve tbh as I've had a hugely carby weekend. Started off feeling sorry for myself Friday (started cleaning the room where the rabbits had been in which set my hayfever off massively, and then a lack of proper dinner didn't help), decided to enjoy myself when out for the day Sat, instead of sticking to the planned LC options, and then gave up yesterday. First time in a long time I've had so much rubbish! However, today is a new week.

Goodasgoldilox · 11/06/2018 10:03

I agree Lonesurvivor. The advice on here is good- patient and generous. The spreadsheet shows what a huge effect it is having. BIWI and others are saving the world (from all kinds of health problem) 1lb at a time.

threedots · 11/06/2018 10:09

Condolences to Leapin Flowers

Congratulations to Grimbles Smile

It hasn't been a week of LC for me yet but I got on the scales this morning and it seems I am 3lb down!

RedPandaMama · 11/06/2018 10:16

Anyone fancy helping me out? I have two birthdays today, a friend and my dad, and am going for two meals out! Shock

Lunch is Nandos in town which is easy, getting chicken wings, chicken breast, halloumi and a mixed leaf salad. Water to drink.

We're going to this place for dinner though. I'm thinking olives as a starter, chicken Caesar salad (most places come up as that being around 12-16g carbs) and one of their interesting drinks instead of dessert, does that sound okay? There is also a duck breast meal option that sounds nice. Could anyone help me pick one of their alcoholic drinks that wouldn't ruin my first day back at it?
the-lostandfound.co.uk/knutsford/menu/restaurant

So many nice sounding gin cocktails but a lot of them have syrups...

TY Grin

ilovecherries · 11/06/2018 10:26

STS but ok with that as I feel I’ve properly consolidated my new current weight and I have seen glimpses of lower during the week.

Nan0second · 11/06/2018 10:28

Sorry to hear about sad news leaping
Hope people are not too sore after the big stick got them...
59.1kg so 300g off on an early weigh on Saturday. I am very much on bootcamp light now which I find easy to stick to. I have gone off alcohol completely which is odd and had my first glass of prosecco in 3 weeks last night. It was fine but not as good as it used to be.
I made brownies (v not low carb!) for church on Sunday and couldn’t even lick the spoon they were so sweet.
Tried a Keto mug cake on Saturday night. That is my first low carb bake since starting in January. It was nice and I’ll probably do it again at some point but it won’t be a regular thing.
chocolatecoveredkatie.com/2018/04/09/keto-mug-cake-recipe/

I also have another recipe to try...

Nan0second · 11/06/2018 10:32

redpandamama Those choices are fine.
You could also have the burger with no bun and swap the fries for salad or veg or the green beans.
Duck is likely to have a v sweet glaze and the pineapple ketchup Is a no!

AromaticSpices · 11/06/2018 10:51

Argh I've not been following. But I've had a BIG event out of the way as of Saturday so from now on I am free to follow the plan. Did a good shop before work so I have my lunches sorted all week, and back on IF too. Only ten weeks to my holiday and I absolutely must get a handle on my eating habits.

I won't be logging weight today but I will next week.

Justmuddlingalong · 11/06/2018 11:02

10lbs in total off since start of bootcamp. The 0.6lb that will take me to 10 stone is still there, mocking me. Bastard. 😠Psyllium husk powder just arrived so fingers crossed that helps with the constipation. Any tips on how much/when to take it would be gratefully received. Hope everyone has a great day. Thanks again to BIWI and all who're contributing to the threads.

prettybird · 11/06/2018 11:04

2.5lb off this week Smile Well and truly under 12 stone now at 11st 11.5lb Smile (Have been under 12 stone since Friday but am pleased that it stuck for weigh-in day Smile)

So that's me now under what I'd reached for Christmas, got back to in mid January and was still at in late March (when I then started going off piste for a month or so Blush) Grin

That's over 3 stone since the end of May last year. Smile

For those that are stalling or frustrated at slow progress - remember to take those measurements. Last Wednesday, when the scales still said 12stone, I measured my waist. It was 33.5", which is 0.5" less than it was in March (when I was 11st 13lb) and a full inch less than when I was 11stone 13lb in January ConfusedGrin
