Week 4 - Low Carb Bootcamp - where we're KOKOing!

BIWI · 04/06/2018 07:18

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you

Just a reminder to you all that week 4, like its evil twin week 3, can be a difficult week where weight loss is likely to be minimal or even non-existent.

Please don't despair if you don't see any movement on the scales - this does appear to be quite normal at this point in Bootcamp.

Keep going, keep following the rules - stay away from the chocolate and bread! - particularly make sure you get enough water and fat - and you should see things get going again very soon.

Here's to a good week for us all Flowers

@PebblesPony - are you really that bad that you have to resort to lactulose? Seriously, I'd try all the other remedies that PP have talked about on the threads. You have been reading the threads, haven't you? [wink

Lots of fat, plenty of water, more exercise are all good. As are high strength vitamin C, a strong black coffee, and making sure that you're getting all/most of your carbs from veg and salad.

@Chocchip88 - why are you eating the same things all the time? You're bound to get bored! Have you checked out the recipe threads for some inspiration? There are lots of lovely recipes there

@3stonedown - brilliant! Flowers

@Tuscansausage - that would suggest you're not eating enough protein or fat - and possibly not drinking enough water

@Laska5772 all that fat and water is really good for your skin!

@borowren list out for me your meals over the last few days and let me see if I can spot anything obvious

Well I've just well and truly fallen off the wagon after a great day and eaten 5 ice lollies. Poor DD will have to go without. They're the only sugary thing I ever have in the house but it looks like I might have to stop them too. Very much emotional eating as others have been discussing. Dealing with endless toing and froing of dp/xp and I deciding whether we are getting back together or not. Oh well will draw a line and hope I still sleep tonight.

bettyblueeyes83 · 04/06/2018 22:12

Just checking in as didn't have time this morning. 2.8lbs down this week, which I'm very happy with as overdid it on the alcohol on Friday night. Didn't get chance to eat at all until 4.30pm today, and amazed not to even have a slightly rumbling stomach. Feeling well.

Would also be interested to know if sugar-free gum is a problem?

borowren · 04/06/2018 22:16

Thanks BIWI. Happy to have some pointers!
I tend not to eat breakfast (never have)

Saturday
lunch was hard boiled egg, cold beef, big salad with coleslaw
Dinner was homemade burger, cabbage, sprouts and leek sautéed in oil and butter.

Sunday
Lunch was Roast chicken and veg (cauliflower, broc, cabbage, small amount of carrot)
Dinner was cold gammon and rest of the sautéed veg from Saturday.

Today
Lunch was left over chicken and veg from yesterday lunch
Dinner
3 egg omelette with A little onion, a little green pepper, some cooked gammon and a little cheese.

I drink 2 to 3 litres of water everyday and some tea (but with hardly any milk)

Only thing I know I probably shouldn't have is Diet Coke, which I do have fairly regularly.

ShagMeRiggins · 04/06/2018 22:29

ajandjjmum I didn’t mean to suggest your helpful post to Pebble was wrong.

I was trying to point out something I’ve learned over the past 18 months and highlight how easily we can rely on only one source for our information.

It’s easy for us all to get stuck into MFP or a quick google or word of mouth.

It’s important that we all do our own work while simultaneously using this forum to support each other.

Every opinion and idea is worth consideration. Every contribution counts.

Mandelinka · 04/06/2018 22:48

Food today:
B: fried mushrooms, kale, chorizo, 2 eggs. Topped with avocado and creme fresh
L: boiled cauliflower mixed with egg and cheese
D: lamb and asparagus
S: Greek yoghurt with cream
2 coffee w cream, 1 l green tea, 1l fizzy water
After last weeks eating off plan, I will class today as day 1 week 1 of BC.
I’ve taken measurements and won’t weigh until next Monday ( TOM will be over by then).

RedPandaMama · 04/06/2018 23:10

Hi, could someone put my weight in for this week as 207.8 please? Someone said this morning they did it, not sure if it didn't save or isn't working on my phone but it isn't there as that. I'm about 1lb down which I'm happy with seeing as I had a bad day this week.

Anyone else struggle with emotional/binge eating? I always have, but I feel like this WOE has helped me SO much. Whenever I used to feel down/stressed/anxious/overworked/hungry I used to reach for breakfast bars, cereal or chocolate. Now I just don't have those cravings, and if I am still hungry after dinner I'll have 4 or 5 strawberries with double cream, or maybe some greek yogurt with seeds. Smile

RedPandaMama · 04/06/2018 23:11

SO excited to be back in the 100s again. I went up to a whopping 230lbs while pregnant (last summer), had DD and was stuck around 220 for ages and couldn't motivate myself to get it off. Down to 207 now, hoping to get into the 100s in June!

sheldonesque · 05/06/2018 01:09

shagemeriggins

Sorry - I work shifts so apologies for the late reply.

Your chart did cheer me up - well done you!

I grew myself a fat coat suit to make myself invisible. Like that makes sense...

You are right, I have to address the why. I think bootcamp will help me come to some sort of peace.

Thank you Flowers

AthelstaneTheUnready · 05/06/2018 06:08

Shag! Nice to see you!

Off house hunting again in a few minutes, which is leading to an involuntary diminution of eating time. Which is not as fab as it sounds, since the last bootcamp taught me that as soon as I start restricting (voluntarily or subconsciously) calories/fat, I stop losing weight.

B: loads of cream in coffee
L: no idea, haven't planned, will be out, so failing anything good, nothing at all
D: belly pork, leeks, broccoli and butter

borowren · 05/06/2018 06:34

Aargh!
I definitely need your help @BIWI as scales say I'm up another 2lbs this morning, which puts me at only 6lbs loss for whole of bootcamp so far. 😔

Mimosa1 · 05/06/2018 07:07

73.3 kg today and 1st day back on BC completed. Thanks for the flowers BIWI.

Athelstane - house hunting sounds exciting, good luck!

And redPanda, that's some impressive progress.

MrsBertBibby · 05/06/2018 07:18

FFS. 3 pound gain on yesterday.

Rayna37 · 05/06/2018 07:23

itchyknees honestly, low carb toad in the hole just doesn't exist. There are some pretty creative people on here but you just can't make anything resembling the light fluffiness of the batter without regular flour IMHO. Try the sausages with mayo mixed with mustard?

borowren the only thing I wondered was have you read the rules tabs in the spreadsheet thoroughly? Especially the veg one; be careful with what's in your salad, avoid carrots, red and yellow peppers and always swap onions for shallots (the echalion ones are easiest to work with). Also check how carby your mayo is if using it.

Luki · 05/06/2018 07:26

@borowren I wouldn't worry too much. After my 3lb gain last week I've only lost 4lbs overall on this bootcamp.

Having said that, I've woken up this morning with a terrible headache, in a really bad mood and with spots all over my face. Last time that happened, I had a huge whoosh. I think it has happened again as my jeans feel really loose this morning.

I think every body loses weight in different ways. Hopefully BIWI can reassure you. KOKO. Flowers

Rayna37 · 05/06/2018 07:33

Yesterday:

B: 2 eggs scrambled with butter
L: a thin steak with wholegrain mustard and salad: spinach, cucumber, tomato, and hm coleslaw (which included some carrot), olive oil.
D: shepherds pie with cauliflower topping (frozen from when I last made it). Strawberries with Greek yogurt.
S: yogurt, a few walnuts, one square of 90% chocolate.

Nowhere near enough water and a few things I can improve on here I think.

Luki · 05/06/2018 07:44

Oh. Just jumped on the scale and apparently I'm another 3lbs up Confused In one day. Confused

slinks back to my black hole and dark mood Grin

Twoo · 05/06/2018 07:50

Luki I agree it is disheartening when the scales go up. It happens to me too. I’m totally sticking to bc rules too.

Have you checked your scale battery? Do you need a poo? Blush

Luki · 05/06/2018 08:19

Thanks @Twoo I have been a bit constipated the past few days Blush
I've had the scales for about 8 years and they've lain dormant for about five years of that so maybe you're on to something there.

Fingers crossed the scales move in the right direction soon. Sad

ilovecherries · 05/06/2018 08:56

Missed yesterday’s weigh in as I was up and out at 5am. After being 11.3 all week, was 11.4 this morning, but I had two x three hour train journeys yesterday, so not a lot to drink, and a lot of time on my feet, which were quite swollen last night, so I’m guessing just a bit of fluid retention.

MrsBertBibby · 05/06/2018 08:57

Luki I have gained 4 1/2 pounds in 2 days. I can only conclude that I am waterlogged from last night's swimming.

Is it worth measuring as well /in stead of weighing? It is bloody infuriating when it goes the wrong way for no bloody discernible reason.

I weigh daily because it keeps me on it, but it does cause some early morning cursing.

BIWI · 05/06/2018 09:09

Please, everyone, if you can't cope with the scales going up if you're a daily weigher, don't do it to yourself!

And as MrsBertBibby has said - the scales don't tell the whole story. Take your measurements as well.

I grew myself a fat coat suit to make myself invisible. Like that makes sense...

Perfect sense, sheldonesque. I think of mine as a suit of armour. And then start singing Simon & Garfunkel lyrics from I Am a Rock:

^I have my books
And my poetry to protect me
I am shielded in my armor
Hiding in my room, safe within my womb
I touch no one and no one touches me
I am a rock
I am an island
And a rock feels no pain
And an island never cries^

Ooh, that’s a bit deep before my first cup of tea! Hmm Just KOKO and shed your suit.

still loving your username Wink

In other news, I have played tennis two days in a row. This is big for me. Clearly, when I am not busy being Beyoncé, I am Serena Williams (or maybe Kvitova—I like her game).

ShagMeRiggins · 05/06/2018 09:33

I was just about to say the same as BIWI. There seems to be a lot of scales obsession this bootcamp. Think about the Big Picture!!!

bibliomania · 05/06/2018 09:34

Forgive me, BIWI, for I have sinned. It has been a week since my last confession, and these are my sins.

Back from half-term holiday in France. I did try (the tripe soup being a notable effort) but all the hanging around airports and train stations proved hard to negotiate. Anyway, I backslid to the tune of 2.5lbs, which could be worse. Back in harness again.
