Week 4 - Low Carb Bootcamp - where we're KOKOing!

BIWI · 04/06/2018 07:18

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you

Just a reminder to you all that week 4, like its evil twin week 3, can be a difficult week where weight loss is likely to be minimal or even non-existent.

Please don't despair if you don't see any movement on the scales - this does appear to be quite normal at this point in Bootcamp.

Keep going, keep following the rules - stay away from the chocolate and bread! - particularly make sure you get enough water and fat - and you should see things get going again very soon.

Here's to a good week for us all Flowers

At last - the scales have gone down 2 lbs! I was feeling that this was not working for me, but as BIWI said, coming towards the end of Week 4, we have movement again. Just praying it doesn't go up again tomorrow. Off to drink a gallon of water (not literally!).

Have a good Sunday all.

BIWI · 10/06/2018 10:02

Two groups down, one more to go, and then will be able to go back to the hotel, eat and collapse into bed! As I'm 8 hours ahead, I'll start week 5's chat thread very bright and early.

Typhoon Maliksi is hitting the coast line here so it's cool, rainy and windy. Just what I had in mind Angry

Oh that's good to hear @ajandjjmum My pound 'on' this week is still 'on' unfortunately. But I'm not too worried...I know it will shift as soon as I've 'been' 😳😳😳😳 (7 days without a poo and I'm feeling very heavy!!)

Justmuddlingalong · 10/06/2018 10:39

Feeling 🤢 this morning. Period due and not had a decent poo for days. Out and about yesterday, managed to drink plenty of water, but definitely not enough fat included in food. Very small gains the last few days, but at home today so will crank up the fat intake and hope for a whoosh before BC weigh in tomorrow.

Lonesurvivor · 10/06/2018 10:49

Well done ajon the loss, nice to see the scales moving again.

northern my troublesome pound finally went and a bit along with it but it's taken 9 days to reach that break through. I wouldnt normally care but I'm now a half pound away from the next stone bracket and just really want to see that on the scales soon, how daft am I getting hung up on a numberBlush

Hope your trip is going well BIWI have you got to see any of the area?

Gammeldragz · 10/06/2018 10:53

BIWI sorry to hear it's rubbish weather and you're tired, hopefully you get to enjoy your day off when it happens.

So I got a nice new low weight Friday, treated myself to some new shoes (Levi navy low tops) and lipstick. Weight has gone up 2lbs since then, but I am mid cycle and was in awful pain yesterday to the point of taking loads of painkillers so I shall blame a combination of inflammation and painkillers. Hoping to come back down tomorrow. But if not, I know it's in reach.

We're going to have a little bbq this afternoon, so that will be meat and salad with asparagus.

MrsBertBibby · 10/06/2018 11:09

Urgh, I just puked because of clearing up cat vom. Even my puke tastes weirdly sweet. Bleurgh.

Grimbles · 10/06/2018 12:47

Hello all, I've not been posting for a while but am still koko'ing. Down to 11st 2lbs now although I am hopefully going to start gaining again soon on account of being pregnant Grin

BlackMozart · 10/06/2018 13:33

Grimbles congratulations!! 💐
lurknolinger that is a great idea, I will do that.
mrsbb sorry to hear that, it sounds horrid.

MrsBertBibby · 10/06/2018 13:42

Well done grimbles.

Treated myself to a really easy scone like thing which really hit the bread spot.

1 cup ground almonds, tsp baking powder, salt.
Beat an egg, Add 1/6 cup melted butter, mix that in with the almond, spoon out (I made 4 blobs, could do more) bake on parchment for 15 mins.

Dunno how it will be later, but fresh from the oven with butter it was lovely. Cheered my battered belly right up.

Next time I reckon I'd add paprika or mustard powder. Kind of savoury scone like. Incredibly quick to make, 6g carbs for the batch (and I didn't finish them).

Rshard · 10/06/2018 14:02

Hope you’re feeling better soon mrsbb

Congratulations grimbles!

BIWI · 10/06/2018 14:47

Ooh another BC baby, Congratulations Grimbles Flowers

BIWI I must confess and bear the brunt of the stick - I had chip butties for lunch. I won't bore you with excuses. Just moving on...

MelanieCheeks · 10/06/2018 16:24

Aaaargh, who mentioned chip butties!

Actually I can usually curb my chips craving by adding salt and vinegar to something else.

My pooing problem seems to be well resolved with psyllium husk. I make up a little shot glass of a tsp of husk with water, add some flavouring like cinnamon or a drop of almond essence ( or himalayan salt and cider vinegar), a tsp of cocoa nibs or nuts for crunch and freeze. If I add a small sloosh of whisky or vodka that stops it freezing solid. I might try one topped with co-yo tonight.

Gammeldragz · 10/06/2018 19:15

melanie I wasn't even craving them, just they were leftover from kids lunch and I hadn't eaten because I was studying (excuses). I always forget I can't just have one chip (they're homemade and bloody gorgeous, I can easily forgo chips when we're out as they're never as good!).

Just eaten my bodyweight in barbecued pork belly, so I'm not expecting much for weigh in tomorrow!

LeapinLizards · 10/06/2018 19:26

I'm returning to the fold after a very tough 10days. My DF came to the end of the road after a long struggle with cancer. DSis & I stayed with him so that he could die at home, which is what he wanted. Feel very sad. However, I feel uplifted to read your news @Grimbles - even though I don't know you, it makes me feel incredibly happy to know you're pregnant. It's the circle of life.
Oddly enough, I haven't strayed at all from BC even though it's been a very stressful situation. I think being really controlled about my eating helped me feel better- having a bit of control in a situation over which I had no control, if that makes sense.

Goodasgoldilox · 10/06/2018 19:30

So sorry to hear of your loss LeapinLizards.
Well done on KOKO in these circumstances.

BlackMozart · 10/06/2018 19:40

So sorry to hear that leapinlizards but good you were able to be there at the end. I am sure that will give you comfort in the weeks and months ahead. Well done on staying on the woe too 💐💐

Laska5772 · 10/06/2018 19:42

Day out in That London and at the place we went the best /only lunch option was the ham hock parsley and green lentil salad on leaves . i also had a few ( about 10) cashews

Looking online this wasn't that good ..? can anyone advise if i've really messed up

I suppose i can only console myself that a it wasn't a very big portion and we did walk about 10 miles all told .

Dinner was an omelette with mushrooms Parmesan and asparagus and green salad .

I wont be able to weigh until Tuesday morning so hopefully any damage will have been minimal by then.

Divette · 10/06/2018 19:47

So sorry LeapinLizards Flowers

NorthernKnickers · 10/06/2018 19:54

Lovely news @Grimbles 💐💐

Condolences @LeapinLizards But you were there, and this will (in the future) bring some comfort to you 💐. Yesterday was the 5th 'anniversary' of my lovely dad's death. It's been a particularly horrid weekend as my uncle (dad's brother) has just been diagnosed with lung cancer (we heard about this on Friday) and that's also how my dad died.

I too succumbed today to my craving for chips...I did 'only' steal about 6 from my friend's plateful, and thoroughly enjoyed them...but I'm now cross with myself! It's pure emotional eating, I know, and I didn't need to do it really...ah well! What's done is done...back on it.

MelanieCheeks · 10/06/2018 20:05

This week will be hard. We are off to cork to se A-ha ( I know!) so staying in hotels and eating on the road will be a challenge. I hall aim for damage limitation.

Justmuddlingalong · 10/06/2018 20:10

I've just ordered psyllium husk powder to see if it'll shift me. 4 weeks with very little movement or production, I need something extra. Can any other LCers using it give me instructions about dose and how you take it? TIA

ajandjjmum · 10/06/2018 20:24

Sorry for your loss LeapinLizards - but well done on keeping to this woe.

NorthernKnickers · 10/06/2018 20:32

I'm the same @Justmuddlingalong It's becoming a real problem 😳
