Wow! This is the first time I've had to start a second thread this early!

Please continue to post all your meals, ideas, questions, woes, successes etc here!

I'm currently on a train Oop North with very dodgy wifi so can't guarantee I will see or be able to answer all your questions, but I'll do my best.

Also, tomorrow I'm at a funeral Sad so won't be around very much

It sounds like most people are doing well, but also coming to terms with what this WOE actually means.

Bootcamp is designed to be easy to follow but it's not easy to do! You have to adjust your total mindset and do things completely differently from what you've been used to doing.

So let's all see this as a week of adjustment, and - having drawn the line Wink - let's move on to a really good week next week

Soooo constipated. 5lb exactly off since the start of bootcamp. I'm so chuffed I didn't revert to my usual Saturday night chocolate and crisps binge. Feeling great. Sleeping like a log. If only I could poo. Sad

BIWI · 20/05/2018 09:29

If you're constipated (really constipated, not just going less often), then make sure you're getting your carbs from veg and salad, rather than other sources, so that you're getting plenty of fibre.

Make sure you're drinking plenty of water, and really keeping your fat high.

Other things to try:

strong coffee
high strength vitamin C table
magnesium supplement
upping your exercise

... and if all else fails, there's always sugar-free Haribo

Strong coffee?

I am not going nearly as often as before starting (nearly a month in). It's odd.

Waswittyonce · 20/05/2018 09:30

@AromaticSpices me too! I've spent hours working in the garden after work and even running up the stairs to bed! Thought previous lack of energy was down to getting older, apparently notSmile

MrsBertBibby · 20/05/2018 09:32

BIWI can I double check, nuts are OK for veggies at this stage? You told me off for pine nuts, but I thought veggies were allowed at this stage. In moderation, obvs, and no cashews etc.

BIWI · 20/05/2018 09:47

Sorry @MrsBertBibby - I had forgotten you are a veggie Blush

Yes, nuts and seeds are allowed. Just go easy with them, and make sure you know the carb count of the nuts you're choosing

OP posts:
qumquat · 20/05/2018 09:54

I've heard that magnesium supplements are good for constipation random. I'm taking them and actually my bowels a lot happier on this woe than normal, not sure if it's the food or the magnesium though! I also take acidophilus tablets in the morning. Keeping up he water intake should help too.

I imagine as well there's probably less 'stuff' to come out than normal so going a lot less doesn't necessarily mean constipation.

(Hello by the way. I'm lurking avidly but this is my first post. Thank you everyone for your inspiring and informative posts)

SummerRayne17 · 20/05/2018 10:07

@gumquat That's what i thinks happening with me. It's not that I feel constipated or am struggling to go, it's just less in volume and less in frequency!

Seafour · 20/05/2018 10:07

Ilovecherries thanks for the kind words, I'm just so so frustrated and going to look at clothes yesterday was a big mistake, as well as a wedding outfit I wanted to find some nice summer everyday clothes but couldn't even find a t-shirt that I liked. Why do you like Hush?

Food today

B creamy coffee as I'm currently still in bed (despite the grandchildren)
L prawn salad
D roast chicken with buttered leeks, broccoli, kale and roast cauliflower

Namaste bitches

maxthemartian · 20/05/2018 10:09

Magnesium oxide will certainly make you go! Just a word of warning though, you will absorb minimal actual magnesium. You need a different form for proper absorption.

I have been adding a teaspoon of psyllium husk to my morning yogurt-and-cream fest. That plus the water and all the green veg seem to be keeping things moving Grin

wherehavealltheflowersgone · 20/05/2018 10:15

Had a terrible weekend in terms of sticking to the rules - out for dinner Friday night and had onion rings and corn on the cob with my steak Blush this was followed over the next 24 hours by a glass of wine, cake and ice cream, crackers, a croissant, then more cake and ice cream. This morning I weigh the same as I did last Monday so all the efforts and carb flu were in vain Angry
Anyway I've drawn a line and back in BC today. I need to reflect on good alternatives to ice cream on a sunny afternoon ...

GuyMartinsSideburns · 20/05/2018 10:17

Hi all,

I'm going to have to lurk in the background for a bit - recently been put on some anti depressants but experiencing the worst physical symptom of terrible neck pain (wakes me up at night, can't turn my head, twinges etc) so I'm going to spend the next couple of weeks coming off them. (Not ideal to do it this quickly I know but I'm hoping having not been on them for too long means the ride might not be too bumpy, and I really can't take this pain any longer.) I'm seeing my gp in a couple of weeks.

So anyway my eating is all over the place at the moment, I don't want to eat much - feels like I can't stomach it. I've just had a yogurt for my breakfast, not ideal but was the easiest, less nauseating thing I could find.

Koko all and I hope to be back soon!

MrsBertBibby · 20/05/2018 10:26

Good luck with the drug weaning Guy. Take it slow.

SummerRayne17 · 20/05/2018 10:26

Forgot to mention todays food plan...

B - 2 poached eggs, broccoli rice with butter, 1/2 mashed avocado.

L - Bellypork, roast asparagus and baby corn.

D - possibly prawn stirfry with veg.

S - coffee with cream, yoghurt with cream.

MrsBertBibby · 20/05/2018 10:27

And thanks (and phew') BIWI!

RedPandaMama · 20/05/2018 10:27

I'm down 4kg already! Every day I weigh myself so I can track a trend average rather than one weight which tends to fluctuate a lot if I'm on my period or had a drink the night before or whatever. But as of this morning 4kg down!

Eolian · 20/05/2018 10:37

Another lb down this morning and am pretty pleased about how the weekend's going. No cheating at all and no booze.

Today's meals:

B: bacon, egg and mushrooms
L: tuna mayo and salad
D: lamb chops and roast veg

My loss has been a bit slower than some people's (I started 5 weeks ago and have lost 8lb) but am just happy the scales are going in the right direction. I suspect I'd be losing more quickly if I laid off the dairy a bit, but I find that hard!

Mimosa1 · 20/05/2018 10:42

Wow @RedPandaMama jealous

@Seafour I've just had a good run at Oasis for summers clothes. It's not normally somewhere I'd go in, but I've bought some really nice white stretchy jeans, a plain t-shirt and some long tailored shorts and I'm delighted with them. Some of the materials can be a hit and miss (why so much polyester?!) but the colours are really nice and honestly think it's worth a look as there were some real gems.

I've just put double cream in my yogurt and it's a revelation! But the vanilla extract I bought at Waitrose is not nice, it's got ethanol in it and tasted really synthetic in the yoghurt. Does anyone have any recommendations?

UnimaginativeUsername · 20/05/2018 10:43

I’m really pleased for everyone who is already seeing results. I am not down in the slightest, in fact I’m up a little bit. Oh well. I’ll just keep going and maybe I’ll see a lower number on the scales next week, or the week after, or at some point anyway.

ilovecherries · 20/05/2018 10:53

HaHa, Seafour, have you seen me on the Hush thread?Blush.

They were always a brand I liked the look of - I used to love the styling but at 16 + stone they weren't for me. As I started to lose weight, I found their clothes were forgiving enough to see me through a couple of dress sizes. I like the high cotton/bamboo/viscose content of a lot of their stuff, and I rarely see anyone else wearing it IRL. They aren't terribly dressed up, but I always feel like I've made an effort in their clothes, rather than just slobbing about.

Iamnotacerealkiller · 20/05/2018 11:02

Thank goodness I've finally found this thread again! Need to vent a little. My mother in law is staying and I have done sooo well with food as I have done all the cooking.

Mil in law has just gone and pulled out a 1.5kg bag of chocolates Shock.

She bought it 'because it's the ones you like' talking to OH only for him to say 'you know I can't eat those as they give me migraines'. Cue argument concluding in 'well cereal will have to have them they are her favorite' they are and I agreed for the sake of shutting them up but I am unequivocally without a doubt not even going to open the bloody things. Soon as Mil is gone tomorrow they are going in oh bag to be distributed at work!!!

It's been ages since I got this far into a low carb diet without failing and I'll be damned if my down fall will be Mils accidental generosity!! If I want chocolate and cheat I will.go and get it myself!!

Seafour · 20/05/2018 11:04

Mimosa thanks for the oasis tip - I will have a look

Ilovecherries thanks, I have lurked on the Hush thread, I like the look of their clothes for everyday, I need a change from White Stuff and Boden it's become a uniform for women over 50 where I live. All I bought yesterday were two pairs of cropped leggings from M&S, most of my tops from last year were to fit over my huge spinal brace so about 3 sizes too big. My wardrobe is depressing right now.

kakiqueen · 20/05/2018 11:15

Hello everyone
I have also been lurking and reading the thread. You are all doing so well.
I completely fell off the wagon last night and feel really ashamed for that.

Today is a new day though and I have seen BIWI's line. So I will start afresh this morning.
I've done a kettlebell workout and had a boiled egg for breakfast.
Now it's gardening and sunshine.

MrsBertBibby · 20/05/2018 11:17

My wardrobe has got a bit cheered up as I just tried on my jeans which have been off limits due to massive muffin issues since last summer.

They are still tighter on the thighs than I'd like, but I can definitely wear them again without a massive gut squidge making me look dreadful.

I have some really lovely old jeans from years ago stashed away. It would be amazing if I could get into those one day, but I think that's a good couple of stones away still.

Keep at it Unimaginative it'll come.
