Week 4 – Is this the new normal? Because it feels great!

BerylStreep · 28/01/2018 22:20

Welcome to the week 4 thread of Bootcamp. I enjoyed the power of wielding BIWI’s big stick last week so much that I am staying on for another week. Grin Normal service will be returning next week.

So week three was great – as well as lots of impressive scale victories, there were loads of NSVs – bras moved to the next hook, colleagues commenting favourably, feeling as if there is more energy, along with err, some less orthodox NSVs such as smaller earlobes and re-emerging pubes. Grin

The thing that has really struck me is the number of posters who have lost significant weight over the last year, and are sticking with it and still seeing progress. That’s a fantastic inspiration to us all, and really shows how this WOE works long-term.

There are a number of posters who have committed to doing dry February (along with a few who are kicking a diet coke habit). This starts on Thursday, but it goes without saying that this is not an excuse to put as much away as possible before that! note to self

Thanks to BIWI who has been working hard on creating the Bootcamp recipe threads. There are loads of great ideas there to avoid menu boredom.

So KOKO, and good luck for the weigh in, but also remember the scales are only one indicator of progress. Here is the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness.

ilove you look great! That wig is fabulous. Belated Happy Birthday! Flowers

blackteaplease · 29/01/2018 15:23

Nice wig ilove. I love the colour. My mum had 2 wigs during chemotherapy so that she could change styles easily.

EeeSheWasThin · 29/01/2018 15:26

GuyMartinsSideburns

added for you.

SchrodingersFrilledLizard · 29/01/2018 15:29

ilovecherries, your hair is gorgeous! Really suits you and I never would have guessed that it is not your own.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 29/01/2018 15:33

Oh, fab hair! That was also my first thought before reading. Along with fab skin! Congratulations on the change of mind. I expect it's not the first thing you've thought "I deserve better" since you started your weight loss?

Glad the cat's home, Rags - do you keep trying to tempt her with bits of your own food (meat only)?

YoLo, definitely not hot flushes, just running steadily a lot warmer these past two weeks.

Gammeldragz · 29/01/2018 16:20

Athelstan I bought her favourite treats earlier and she went mad for them just now, so hopefully appetite is back.

I'm making that sun-dried tomato and cream chicken again - added fresh chili this time, except I have it on my hands and just rubbed my nose Shock

abbey44 · 29/01/2018 16:26

cherries I love your hair - it suits you so well, would never have guessed it wasn't your own.

Needing to dig deep this week to keep focus - weight the same as last Monday, despite no cheats and lots of walking with the dogs Hey ho. KOKO.

BIWI · 29/01/2018 17:06

Lovely hair Ilovecherries!

ilovecherries · 29/01/2018 17:34

Thanks everyone, you are all very kind. Yes, I wish I still had my own hair, but I don't and I know a lot of worse things happen. The first time it happened I had the neck and jawline to rock the bald, but that wasn't going to work at 60, so this feels like a good alternative. Glad I made the decision to go for it.

BrassicaBabe · 29/01/2018 17:35

My biggest LCHF challenge so far....roasting a duck (a treat requested by the kids and ran out of time yesterday) and I'm roasting potatoes underneath the bird in the fat!! 😩😩

vintagebella · 29/01/2018 17:45

Just logging my food before I catch up with the thread

B - coffee, 2 egg omelette with spinach and mushrooms
L - coffee, fathead pizza leftover from Saturday
D - gammon, white sauce (no flour) green veg (lots)
S - 1 tsp peanut butter

3 litres of water, one salty drink, one tea with almond milk

In case it helps anyone I've discovered Waitrose whole nut peanut butter is the lowest carb I've found - 5.3/100g. It does have a little palm oil in it now which it didn't before Angry but I'll keep it for the moment. Next best is Whole Earth at 7.6/100g

I'll try and catch up now, KOKO

ScreamingValenta · 29/01/2018 17:53

Still at the same bloomin' plateau! Aaaargh. I haven't even moved to 'lite'. I wonder if I am not drinking enough water; I will try upping my intake this week. I'm blowed if I know what else it could be Sad.

Gammeldragz · 29/01/2018 18:00

Right logging food as I'm pretty pleased with it after the dreadfulness of yesterday.

Breakfast - Sprouts in butter with Parmesan
Lunch - Greek yogurt with cinnamon
Dinner - chicken in sun-dried tomato and cream sauce, with stir fried greens.

6 black coffees (will be at least 8 by the end of the day) but only one glass of water so far. Black coffee is basically water though, right?

headoutofthesand · 29/01/2018 18:32

A 2lb gain here so back up to 148lbs. Some of that is due to period bloat; some of it is sheer greed. I did manage to avoid descending into full carby twatdom but I ate about half a wedge of Brie and stupidly opened the "emergency" bar of 85% Green & Blacks dark chocolate to have one square and ended up having a whole row. And I had a few bits of butter. I need to get back to FLGV!

BIWI · 29/01/2018 18:36

@ScreamingValenta

Why not post up what you've been eating and drinking over the last few days, and let's see if we can spot anything?

BerylStreep · 29/01/2018 18:37

Gammeldragz I hope your cat is ok. Glad she is home.

Rshard – I’ve added your weights for the last 2 weeks. I hope your hand is on the mend.

Cherries – before I even read your post I saw your photo and thought ‘ooh, lovely hair’. It looks fantastic – I really like the honey highlights. Am very envious of your lovely defined jawline. Happy birthday for Saturday!

It’s great reading about everyone’s progress. I’m sulking with my scales and refusing to enter my weight on the spreadsheet. I think I might need to start logging with MFP just so I can give myself a bit of accountability. A colleague did say to me today that every time she sees me I look better and better Smile.

ScreamingValenta sometimes the body will resist any fat loss and when it senses it happening, will apparently temporarily replace the lost fat with water.

Food for today:

B: Cheese, Tomato & ham omelette. Decaf coffee with almond milk
L: Packet of macadamias & greek yoghurt. Sparkling water
D: Likely to be chicken meatballs with courgetti
S: 2 more coffees with almond milk. Need more water.

B leftover pork curry
L rump steak, pea shoots
D bacon, egg, sausage, stir fry veg
W keep on drinking....

nekobus · 29/01/2018 18:44

0.8 pounds on, I guess this is my stall as I've been following BC rules really well except Sat night (haggis, a little trifle and a lot of booze) and the Saturday before that (vodka and soda, 2 glasses prosecco) but those were genuinely the only off piste moments in 3 weeks. Back to basics I think, and I'm loving the new style recipe threads and I want to try at least 2 or 3 new recipes each week!

Today
B - cabanos sausage, olives, babybel (car snacks)
L - leftover bolognese with cheddar
D - will be prawns in curry sauce with cauli rice
S - 2 creamy coffees, 2 mini bags pork scratchings
W - have done 1.5L so need to drink more tonight

Good to see so many losses especially for week 3, KOKO folks!

Scabbersley · 29/01/2018 18:46

cherries I love your hair. I want mine just the same!

BlackMozart · 29/01/2018 18:48

ragz fingers crossed your cat continues to get better 💐. It is so hard when our pets are sick.
Well done on all the losses, the nsv’s and those that have sts/gained but know why and aren’t descending into carby twatdom 🙂
Picture of what I’m having for dinner - a yummy veggie bake with layers of roasted aubergine, courgette, red onion, garlic topped with pesto, a couple of tbsp’s of marscapone and a teaspoon of concentrated tomato paste.
Finally confession time. I am about to be a twat (unless I can be talked down) all because of the dry Feb coming up. My brain is telling me to open a bottle of wine and drink it over the next three nights as I am going to then not have any for 28 days - yes really. This is what is going on in my head. No joke. I know this would be stupid, but I wonder if any of the other dry Feb’rs are also cracking open a bottle? (As you can see I am looking for partners in crime). Blush

Week 4 – Is this the new normal? Because it feels great!
BlackMozart · 29/01/2018 18:49

Plus mozzarella in that dish too!

BlackMozart · 29/01/2018 18:51

I also wanted to say cherries that you look fantastic!

BIWI · 29/01/2018 18:51

Last day of my sabbatical - back to work tomorrow Sad

So I'm back on the BC wagon. Today:

B - 2 x coffee, bacon and egg (one rasher and one egg), Berocca (my first half litre of water)
L - tuna mayo, with finely chopped shallot, some chilli, lime juice and black pepper
S - some dark chocolate (3 squares) that was the last in the cupboard!
D - (will be) pan-fried duck breast, cauliflower cheese, roasted tenderstem broccoli and radishes

BIWI · 29/01/2018 18:52

Oh, and have downed 2.5 litres of water (sparkling) so far. I sometimes add a dash of PLJ, for a bit of citrus flavour.

blackteaplease · 29/01/2018 18:53

Don't do it BlackMozart. A whole bottle of wine has loads of carbs so you would lose at least half of the benefit of dry Feb in a gain.
