Week 4 – Is this the new normal? Because it feels great!

BerylStreep · 28/01/2018 22:20

Welcome to the week 4 thread of Bootcamp. I enjoyed the power of wielding BIWI’s big stick last week so much that I am staying on for another week. Grin Normal service will be returning next week.

So week three was great – as well as lots of impressive scale victories, there were loads of NSVs – bras moved to the next hook, colleagues commenting favourably, feeling as if there is more energy, along with err, some less orthodox NSVs such as smaller earlobes and re-emerging pubes. Grin

The thing that has really struck me is the number of posters who have lost significant weight over the last year, and are sticking with it and still seeing progress. That’s a fantastic inspiration to us all, and really shows how this WOE works long-term.

There are a number of posters who have committed to doing dry February (along with a few who are kicking a diet coke habit). This starts on Thursday, but it goes without saying that this is not an excuse to put as much away as possible before that! note to self

Thanks to BIWI who has been working hard on creating the Bootcamp recipe threads. There are loads of great ideas there to avoid menu boredom.

So KOKO, and good luck for the weigh in, but also remember the scales are only one indicator of progress. Here is the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness.

Massive screw up this weekend for me. Had visitors all weekend and did okay until today’s Sunday lunch when the mashed potatoes, Yorkshire’s and sticky toffee pudding called. Now can’t envisage non carb tomorrow (also massively unprepared for it food wise).

Will I have regained all my (water) weight? And how do I proceed?!? Bit disgusted with myself tbh!

Twoo · 04/02/2018 18:06

Breath deeply and exhale Dakota’ . Don’t turn a bad day or two into a bad week or two. Get back on the waggon and keep at it. You can do it! Just think how well you e been doing and how great you feel being more svelte !

BlackMozart · 04/02/2018 18:16

A belated happy birthday to you Cherries 💐🍾
I love your posts. You are so modest and so inspiring at the same time. 🙂

BIWI · 04/02/2018 18:18

@DakotaFanny - then start visualising very quickly! You must have something in your house that you can eat that's low carb? And then get yourself to your nearest Sainsbury's Local/Tesco Express (or whatever) and stock up - even if it's just half a dozen eggs or some cheese.

Cheesey quote:

"Failing to plan is planning to fail"

DakotaFanny · 04/02/2018 18:28

Okay, yes, I can do this. I have cheese, a bit of ham and she’s loads of peanut butter. Oh and loads of left over cauliflower cheese and chicken. Thanks ladies!

Tesco shop on plan for tomorrow.

Huzzah and thanks.

YoLoHogwomanay · 04/02/2018 19:19

hope you had a wonderful birthday ilove. who needs cake? I do

velocity sounds like you are doing well. I drink a lot of fruit tea because its too cold to drink cold water right now. The lightheadedness is most likely because your body is adapting to lower glucose levels and to burning fat instead of carbs. extra important to chuck on the oil and butter while you go through this transition so your body has enough available alternative fuel to adapt properly and not think you are on hunger strike. also you need to keep your electrolytes in balance so try mug of hot water and bovril, marmite or any random stock cube added. it's an instant dizzy fix I find. and add more salt to your food since you are drinking more fluids on this WOE

YoLoHogwomanay · 04/02/2018 19:21

And welcome back to dominatrix stickdom BIWI !!!

BerylStreep · 04/02/2018 19:35

Cherries I seem to have something in my eye. Sniff

YoLo I like to think that the big stick morphed into a rod of enlightenment on my threads Grin

velocitykate · 04/02/2018 19:57

Thanks Yolo, nice to know that I'm hopefully on the right track!

Have just made myself some egg muffins with pepperoni and smoked cheese to have as snacks and breakfast on work days (don't have time to cook breakfast in the midst of sorting kids out!)

PennyMise · 04/02/2018 20:27

Checking in - might need the big stick Blush Stayed on plan all weekend and then had a few spoonfuls of some fancy patisserie today. I feel bad about it but not heading towards a ‘ ah, fuck it’ moment, which is new to me. Instead, I’ve got my food prepped for tomorrow, readied myself for a gain and determined to chug ahead. Which is a massive NSV for me - normally I’d have followed with some other stuff I’d been craving and then kept going. But I honestly didn’t want anything else and have stayed positive while acknowledging I didn’t really exercise my willpower. So silver lining and all - hey ho.

YoLoHogwomanay · 04/02/2018 20:59

lol @ "rod of enlightenment" beryl Grin You have done a sterling job. Thank you from all of us.

velocity BIWI is rigjt as always It is a case of planning. I never have nothing lchf in the house I can eat and I pack my food for the day ahead each evening. Sounds like you have got off to a great start.

Great attitude to your transgression penny. Do you know why you did it?

ScreamingValenta · 04/02/2018 21:03

Thanks to Beryl and PrettyBird for great threads last month!

headoutofthesand · 04/02/2018 21:13

Two days out this weekend and a night away and my resolve has faltered. My intention had been to do full Bootcamp for the first four weeks (so until tonight) but I think the knowledge that I will soon be moving into lite led to me being carried away. Back on the wagon tomorrow.

Mimosa1 · 04/02/2018 21:15

Evening all, posting my food for accountability

B - 1 slice low carb toast (4g slice) with butter
2nd B - 1 slice low carb toast with goat's cheese
L - Thai chicken curry with brocoli instead of rice, and a few mouthfuls of white wine
S - 3 small slices of frittatas with courgette, tom, sausage and goats cheese but they added up - about 2 eggs worth?
D - Breton chicken with leeks bacon and a creamy cheese sauce over celeriac mash, plus 2 sq of dark chocolate.
W - not enough plus 3 or 4 cups of milky tea

It's all HFLC but lots of it. Feel myself teetering on the edge as my appetite, after having been ill for a few days and not fancying much, seems back with a vengeance. Maybe drinking more water will help. I miss that feeling of not feeling hungry every couple of hours ("eating in" someone described it as in an earlier thread). I know this woe works so will keep on keeping on and hope I'm less ravenous tomorrow!
Keeping on

GrandOldDukeOfPorkiness · 04/02/2018 21:26

B creamy coffee
L celeriac- topped shepherds pie with broccoli
D skin on chicken breast with broccoli
W about a litre Blush

BIWI · 04/02/2018 21:52

@Mimosa1

Sounds like you're not really doing LCHF, but you're actually doing HCHF!

B - 1 slice low carb toast (4g slice) with butter

4g per slice is a lot for just one slice of bread - so it's no wonder that you needed a second slice for a second breakfast

2nd B - 1 slice low carb toast with goat's cheese

So now you've had 8g carbs and it's just breakfast?

L - Thai chicken curry with brocoli instead of rice, and a few mouthfuls of white wine

Why the wine?

S - 3 small slices of frittatas with courgette, tom, sausage and goats cheese but they added up - about 2 eggs worth?

Not quite sure why you're worried about the eggs here - these are perfect Bootcamp food. But did you check the carbs in the sausage?

D - Breton chicken with leeks bacon and a creamy cheese sauce over celeriac mash, plus 2 sq of dark chocolate.

Sounds fine, but chocolate? Along with bread and wine today?

W - not enough plus 3 or 4 cups of milky tea

Why not more water? And why the milky tea? Lots more carbs in that!

BIWI · 04/02/2018 21:52

@GrandOldDukeofPorkiness

Not drinking enough water is a constant confession of yours! Why can't you drink more? It's really important.

BerylStreep · 04/02/2018 22:03

Lovely low carb meal tonight: roast chicken, buttery leeks and celeriac Dauphinoise. Resisted the wine that dh insisted on opening (to be fair, he was celebrating our U16 rugby team getting to the final of the Scottish Cup Smile) and just had water (had also had about 2l in the afternoon while at the rugby club).

The low carb creme brûlée was a great success. 10g of erythritol amongst the 4 servings (400ml cream, infused with vanilla and 2 eggs), and then a tablespoon of inulin on each portion before blow torching it.

Week 4 – Is this the new normal? Because it feels great!
ilovecherries · 04/02/2018 23:16

DD was home for my birthday and was sorting some clothes out of her wardrobe, and offered me a pair of size 10 Lily jeans from Oasis to try, as they are too big for her now. They went on, and fastened! They were even fairly comfy. I wouldn't wear them yet as they def gave me a muffin top but omg. Size 10. Last week I was delighted to get into size 12 jeans from debenhams, but these are much smaller.

Scabbersley · 04/02/2018 23:38

BIWI you asked me what I meant when I said I was eating slightly more carbs than recommended.

8g of carbs for breakfast is fine surely if the rest of your food is less than 12g which, apart from the wine and chocolate, I think it would be.

YoLoHogwomanay · 05/02/2018 01:41

Aaaaaaannnnd she's back!!!

mimosa personally fwiw, I think the combo of carbs and not enough fat at breakfast or lunch, plus wine led to more hunger, hence the mealsized snack of frittata before what sounds like a great dinner. add to that the carby milky teas and you are just stimulating your appetite and sabotaging your weight loss. If I were to tweak your menu today, I would have had the frittata for breakfast with a creamy coffee or an almond milk tea. Then the same lunch bar the wine and making sure I stir fried the broccoli in coconut oil or added more oil to the curry. Then substituted fruit/herbal tea for the milky tea, or another creamy coffee. Your dinner sounds fine (I might have added kale or cavolo nero) and tbh I would have had the dark chocolate just because!

Twoo · 05/02/2018 05:36

Good morning Peeps. I’ve looked everywhere for Thread 5 but can t find it. Anyway not weighed yet as still in bed coming round.

Yesterday’s menu

B - None
L - stirred fried massive prawns in butter. Cream & mushroom sauce. Brocolli. Coffee with cream.

D - 1 slice of low carb bread (3.7g). Buttered. Small piece of smoked cheddar. Fresh white crab meat. Coffee with cream.

W - not enough as it would not go down for some reason. Really struggled which is unusual for me. I will try harder today.

Not decided on today’s menu yet. Will post later with weigh in.

blackteaplease · 05/02/2018 06:23

It's too early @Twoo, when it comes it will be linked on this thread so you can find it.

GrandOldDukeOfPorkiness · 05/02/2018 06:37

Couldn’t weigh this morning as I was staying with my mother overnight, and the scales there are the most unreliable and ancient things you could imagine. So I will weigh tomorrow instead, which gives me time for a day of proper water drinking too.
