Week 4 – Is this the new normal? Because it feels great!

BerylStreep · 28/01/2018 22:20

Welcome to the week 4 thread of Bootcamp. I enjoyed the power of wielding BIWI’s big stick last week so much that I am staying on for another week. Grin Normal service will be returning next week.

So week three was great – as well as lots of impressive scale victories, there were loads of NSVs – bras moved to the next hook, colleagues commenting favourably, feeling as if there is more energy, along with err, some less orthodox NSVs such as smaller earlobes and re-emerging pubes. Grin

The thing that has really struck me is the number of posters who have lost significant weight over the last year, and are sticking with it and still seeing progress. That’s a fantastic inspiration to us all, and really shows how this WOE works long-term.

There are a number of posters who have committed to doing dry February (along with a few who are kicking a diet coke habit). This starts on Thursday, but it goes without saying that this is not an excuse to put as much away as possible before that! note to self

Thanks to BIWI who has been working hard on creating the Bootcamp recipe threads. There are loads of great ideas there to avoid menu boredom.

So KOKO, and good luck for the weigh in, but also remember the scales are only one indicator of progress. Here is the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness.

Thanks beryl, hand is hopefully on the mend - back to hospital tomorrow.

ScreamingValenta · 29/01/2018 20:45

Beryl I find LCHF helps my digestion, and my IBS is much better without carbs.

SayrraT · 29/01/2018 20:46

I'm not at my house so I don't think putting it in the freezer or getting someone else to eat it would work Grin

Oddly enough, after posting my craving is going!

prettybird · 29/01/2018 20:47

You're not that far from me ilovecherries - we should arrange to meet up sometime, either at a mid point or one of the times you pass through Glasgow (if you do Wink) on the way North.

SayrraT · 29/01/2018 20:48

So, yes, I was going to eat someone else's chocolate Blush I'm house sitting just now.

feekerry · 29/01/2018 20:49

Thanks guys. Looking forward to it. Will have a re read of rules etc. Want to try eat as fresh as possible

SayrraT · 29/01/2018 20:50

Ooh, can I come too?

ScreamingValenta · 29/01/2018 20:50

Sounds like you're riding the craving out without any need to put the bar out of reach, Sayrra Smile.

SayrraT · 29/01/2018 20:53

I'm drinking water and ignoring it!

ilovecherries · 29/01/2018 20:55

Yes, prettybird, that would be lovely. We still have our house in Glasgow so I'm up there a fair bit. It's no distance at all if I get on the train in Oxenholme.

BerylStreep · 29/01/2018 20:57

Sayrra imagine the MN thread about you.

‘I asked a friend to house sit, and when I came back she had eaten my chocolate marzipan! She must have had a good rummage to find it, because it was hidden at the back of the fridge, behind some rollitos and a bag of macadamias, both of which have also gone. Anyway, do I confront the CF or not?’

I'd love to meet you too SayrraT

Ds has an away game against Biggar one Saturday in the near future (I never know more than a week ahead - although I do know his next 2 games are at home I think ). Maybe we could try to find somewhere to have a coffee, if you can travel a wee bit.

SayrraT · 29/01/2018 21:03

GrinGrin beryl

Unfortunately none of my friends would do that, if that was a real fear it might put me off. plus I'd replace it so no one would ever know GrinWink

Craving has gone pretty much. I might go to bed though and read my book, I'd never get out of bed for chocolate

SayrraT · 29/01/2018 21:04

pretty Biggar is only 10 mins away, I live in a wee village just outside Grin definitely let me know! I used to live in Peebles but not anymore (just thinking that maybe that's where you thought I was).

prettybird · 29/01/2018 21:18

Looks like I'll be meeting 2 of the more northerly Boot Campers some time soon Smile

Twoo · 29/01/2018 21:37

Beryl Grin Grin Grin

Gammeldragz · 29/01/2018 21:56

Sayyra I already do! Since I discovered LIDL's grated Parmesan for under £2 it has been going on everything!

LeapinLizards · 29/01/2018 21:58

Biggar is near me too - 40mins or so. Who knew there were so many of us in fairly close proximity?

TimeIhadaNameChange · 29/01/2018 22:39

If you’re meeting in Glasgow I might be able to come down. It depends when, though, it’s a six hour coach journey down, but it would be fun!

prettybird · 29/01/2018 22:48

I'm an hour away - although ironically if ds' club puts a bus on, it will be an hour and 25 mins for me (club is 20 minutes away from home) but Biggar is an hour both from home as well as from the club Confused

I may end up driving ds down rather than taking him to the club to get the bus.

I've now checked the SRU website: the game is on 17 February. Assuming the game goes ahead (don't know how weather dependent their pitch is), maybe we could meet up beforehand? Ds will want to be there at least 1.5 hours beforehand, which would be 12.30.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 29/01/2018 23:00

illove your hair looks fab, would not have guessed it is a wig.

Bit of a snacky day today

B: creamy coffee; mushrooms, 2 sausages and spinach fried in butter
L: didn't really have
D: cauliflower rice risotto with chicken, bacon and asparagus; small piece of home made low carb chic brownie with cream
S: about a 1/4 batch of fathead crackers with Parmesan; babybel.
W: 3.2 litres.

Not entirely sure about the brownies - have a fairly good consistency but taste a bit too much of coconut and have the "cooling" aftertaste associated with erithyitol (sp).

nekobus · 29/01/2018 23:04

Love the hair cherries! Sorry I posted then had to go back and catch up with the thread Smile and you look very trim prettybird. Nice shoes!

Read this tonight - very intersecting take on how to deal with plateaus (not just menopause-related which it does cover in detail) www.dietdoctor.com/top-tips-lose-weight-low-carb-women-40

nekobus · 29/01/2018 23:06

Interesting not intersecting! Random autocorrect Blush

BlackMozart · 29/01/2018 23:09

Sayrra
It’s funny how just posting on here a potential misdemeanour (or carby twattery) is enough to force a change of mind. I didn’t have a drink after I posted but knew if I didn’t own up to the possibility that I would do just that.

Well done for stepping away from the chocolate marzipan, and to the poster who gave the chuck the chocolate in the freezer idea - that was a really good one.

MumOfAPickle · 29/01/2018 23:23

Evening all, just checking in after my weekend. Slipped up with the booze but other than one or two minor errors stayed pretty strong in the food front. Back on it with a vengeance today
B: egg, smoked salmon and rocket
L: broccoli, mushroom, chicken, bacon and shallot bake
D: tuna cooked in herb butter with samphire and broccoli
S: pork scratchings & dark chocolate

I found a really dark, low sugar dark chocolate which is 14g carb per 100g so lower than the Lindt. I was staying in posh Richmond and there was a whole foods market -they're crazy! I spent most of the time examining the chocolate bars! This one is sweetened with stevia so I don't know if that's what makes the difference? The only one lower in carbs was the 100% cacao but I'm not sure I could do that one!

cherries your hair looks fab, it was the very first thing I thought when my eyes flicked to the pics before I'd read the post and pretty you look very smart and trim, glad it all went ok.

I forgot and wanted to give my body another day to get over the alcohol to weigh this morning so I'll do it tomorrow and post on the spreadsheet whatever it is.
