Week 4 – Is this the new normal? Because it feels great!

Welcome to the week 4 thread of Bootcamp. I enjoyed the power of wielding BIWI’s big stick last week so much that I am staying on for another week. Grin Normal service will be returning next week.

So week three was great – as well as lots of impressive scale victories, there were loads of NSVs – bras moved to the next hook, colleagues commenting favourably, feeling as if there is more energy, along with err, some less orthodox NSVs such as smaller earlobes and re-emerging pubes. Grin

The thing that has really struck me is the number of posters who have lost significant weight over the last year, and are sticking with it and still seeing progress. That’s a fantastic inspiration to us all, and really shows how this WOE works long-term.

There are a number of posters who have committed to doing dry February (along with a few who are kicking a diet coke habit). This starts on Thursday, but it goes without saying that this is not an excuse to put as much away as possible before that! note to self

Thanks to BIWI who has been working hard on creating the Bootcamp recipe threads. There are loads of great ideas there to avoid menu boredom.

So KOKO, and good luck for the weigh in, but also remember the scales are only one indicator of progress. Here is the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness.

It sounds like there has been a fair bit of cheating / indulging in too much chocolate/alcohol/nuts going on. It's Monday now so let's start this week as we mean to go on. If you're having trouble staying on track then post your food daily to keep yourself accountable. And if you're tempted by something you really shouldn't have then come on here and post about it and you can't have whatever it is until you've had three replies.

Scabbersley · 29/01/2018 11:43

Lots of cheating! myself included Blush

B: nothing, fasting (well, coffee with almond milk and lots of water)
L: tuna, lettuce, avocado and mayo. Greek yog
D: dh has made a sheperds pie. I'll scrape the mash off and have with sprouts and spinach.

weebarra · 29/01/2018 11:45

I sts this week but suspect too much alcohol.
However, I am on the tightest hole of my belt, am wearing a top I haven't worn since the birth of DC3, who starts school in August, and have resisted lots of potatoes and crisps.

Scabbersley · 29/01/2018 11:47

I am just desperate to get under 12 stone. I've been 12.1 for weeks pre xmas and am now stuck there again. Pre Xmas I had a few days of 11.13 but it didn't stick.

BIWI · 29/01/2018 11:51

Stop cheating then, @Scabbersley!!! Grin

Montypulciano · 29/01/2018 12:03

Adding myself in. I forgot to weigh as I had about 4 hours sleep with sick Dd2. However there is room in my bra 😀

Well done to all losers and koko yo everyone who didn’t lose. We will get there.

Scabbersley · 29/01/2018 12:16

Thanks BIWI good advice Grin

mrsglowglow · 29/01/2018 12:17

Hi All, great job Beryl!

I stayed pretty much the same this week. Food wise I've been doing fine but had a blow out alcohol wise at the weekend - prosecco, gin, shots 🙃 got a bit carried away but drank loads of water for the rest of the, weekend. Contemplating dry February now.

lisbapalea · 29/01/2018 13:05

Just realised period has started whihc has made me feel better about my gain. Hope it comes off swiftly this week. Food today:

B - greek yog, berries and flax
L - canteen salad including egg, cheese and ham, with (low carb - I checked) mayo
D - will be thai salad with prawns

Lots of water. Have had 1.75 l so far....

JingsMahBucket · 29/01/2018 13:08

Speaking of periods, I forgot to mention something peculiar on the Week 2 thread. I had my period then and my cramps were almost nonexistent. Also, my period was only 3 days long!! And very light/medium. That’s the lightest period I’ve ever had in my life. Fingers crossed it keeps going that way. I hate periods.

BrassicaBabe · 29/01/2018 13:21

checking in. Off to catchup with thread now :)

StuntNun · 29/01/2018 13:31

Jings I had a similar improvement when I went low carb: much lighter and pain-free. It's worth eating like this for that one benefit alone.

ilovecherries · 29/01/2018 13:34

I have a scarily massive birthday on Saturday. I had initially hoped I'd be in a healthy BMI by then, but that calculation was made on the basis of earlier bigger loses. However, I will only be 4-5 lbs short, which given an overall loss of over 60 lbs I'm pretty damned chuffed with. Last birthday I remember feeling devastated by the state I was in, and how unwell I felt. This time I'm feeling optimistic and excited about the next decade. I have a new dress for the occasion (in a size 12!!!). Last year my 22s were too tight.

And I have hair. After a long struggle with hair loss (I've had two episodes of baldness in my life, from which my hair never really recovered fully), I've had another massive shed and multiple bald patches this last year. I don't think it's this WOE, I'm pretty sure it was just the genetic lottery. Either way though, I decided I had nothing to be ashamed of, and I deserved to look and feel my best. After a lot of thought (my previous run ins with NHS wigs were not good), I've invested in a beautiful wig (with two more on the way - oops!Grin). I look about 15 years younger the moment I put it on. I'm pleased with my decision, and it's probably one I should have made several months ago. I thought about keeping it quiet, then I thought 'fuck it cherries, you won't be the only one in the world with this problem, sign some light!' Clearly I'm going to turn to woo woo in the next decade as well. So - here is Gorgeous Gladys (not my real name, but what we've christened my first wig).

ThunderboltsLightning · 29/01/2018 13:40

@ilovecherries your posts are always inspiring! Those photos are lovely.

Happy birthday and well done for the achievement Thanks

GuyMartinsSideburns · 29/01/2018 13:50

Forgot to pop in this morning, could someone add my weight - 134.

Thanks very much Smile

ShagMeRiggins · 29/01/2018 14:01

ilovecherries before I even read your post I thought “great hair!” And those perfect eyebrows. But mostly...that skin.

I aspire to have your forehead. Hmm

My weight is down 1.6lbs. Am pleased with this but slightly annoyed that my 4lb loss this BC is overshadowed by my husband’s 10lb loss. Envy.

There’s only 10lbs between us (but nearly a foot in height Blush) and if he keeps going at this rate he will undertake me. Might have to start spooning in a touch of flour with his sauces. Wink

ilovecherries · 29/01/2018 14:16

ShagMe, thank you! I may have missed the genetic lottery with hair, but I scored with skin. My grandma's skin was pretty much like this when she died at 90, and my mum, now heading towards that age herself, is similar, so I have my fingers crossed. My DD at 21 has more forehead wrinkles than me.

ASDismynormality · 29/01/2018 14:28

ilovecherries. Before reading your post my first thought was beautiful hair and it’s still my thought now. It really suits you.

Twoo · 29/01/2018 14:28

Cherries’. I think I luvs you Grin. I love reading your posts and hearing about how far you have come. Flowers

Twoo · 29/01/2018 14:31

Flowers are for your birthday Cherries’

LeapinLizards · 29/01/2018 14:33

Love your hair, cherries! And it's great to hear how much you've achieved since your last birthday - go you!

YoLoHogwomanay · 29/01/2018 14:34

ilove you look lovely!

athel i have the opposite. less fat, less insulation, less sweatiness, more feeling the cold and needing the heating turned up. You sure you're not getting hormonal hot flashes? Wink

Rshard · 29/01/2018 14:46

You look fab ilove Flowers

Gammeldragz · 29/01/2018 15:15

Ilove fab wig, very nice and goes well with your eyebrows. I need new hair, a wig is tempting! Or I could just stop giving myself spontaneous haircuts...

Cat is home and curled up sleeping, she isn't affectionate at all but she does like a lap, as long as the lapee doesn't take liberties and try to stroke her! She's eaten a grand total of three small crunchy treats, so clearly not ready for food yet but has always been fussy with eating. Vet doesn't know why she had the episodes so it's just wait and see...
