Morning all Flowers

Here's the spreadsheet of fabulousness for you all

Many thanks to wombattoo and SayrraT for keeping the threads going while I was away.

Lots of people talking about how to deal with future events, especially Christmas, and this is something that's really important to think about. This is a tough time of year for low carbing. But it's also a tough time of year if you can't squeeze into your partywear - so you need to decide which is more important. Those roast potatoes or looking good Wink

Good luck everyone

@Grimbles creme brulee can be low carb!! You can use inulin for the brulee bit, it actually goes crisp and caramelised like sugar (thank Tom Kerridge for that tip), it's just ever so slightly less sweet.

I make Delia's summer berry brulee in ramekins as a simple weeknight dessert - mix together greek yogurt and whipped cream (sweeten to taste) and spoon it over a layer of raspberries cooked down with a little sweetener, sprinkle top with inulin then blowtorch it. Nice served with keto shortbread.

Scabbersley · 17/11/2017 22:46

I've had a stupid day of food.

B: coffee
L: creamy coffee, pack pork scratchings
D: hm chicken and spinach curry

SoMuchToBits · 17/11/2017 22:47

Evening! I went out with my friend and chose a "platter" which contained mozzarella, artichoke and pesto, plus some olives and peppers. It should have had a ciabatta too, but I asked for it without. I also had one glass of dry white wine and lots of water. At the concert there were cups of tea and biscuits, so I had a cup of tea and ignored the biscuits.

A successful low carb evening, I think! And the concert was good too. Smile

Oh do come back tooold . Nobody told you yet how BIWI is The Dark Enforcer of BC! Wink She wields her big stick and keeps us all on the straight and narrow. In a good way.

There is a lot to learn on BC and it's not all about weight loss either. Contrary to what you may think, we are a very supportive lot!

Thiswillbemyusername · 17/11/2017 23:08

@Toooldtobearsed don't go! BIWI is making sure you eat enough. Don't take offense! (I know it can come across as a bit of a telling off at times, we've all been there believe me Smile )

Today's meals have been:

B: 4 devilled eggs and a bit of salad
L: chicken, bacon+ avocado salad w/ glass of sauvignon blanc
D: scrambled eggs w/ butter, cheese avocado
S: prosecco + dark chocolate

Lots of drinking happening this week as there's been a big birthday in the family, will be back on track next week.

BIWI · 17/11/2017 23:15

@Toooldtobearsed

You haven't offended! But this is Bootcamp, rather than just finding any old way into low carbing.

However, that doesn't really matter, but I was concerned about what you're eating, as just one meal a day really isn't good nutrition, or for your health!

I am hoping fizzy paracetamol and nurofen are low carb!

I have plantar fasciitis and after spending all day in my wellies my feet are literally throbbing Sad

wombattoo · 18/11/2017 01:25

Tooold Don't go. We have all felt the weight of BIWI's big stick, but it is not weilded lightly. You must know that vodka as a desert and whatever else (chocolate) was a no no. Stick around and pick up some good habits and feel the support. You haven't caused any offence. We are supportive not judgemental Thanks

Grah0SoontobeaFitty · 18/11/2017 03:05

@prettybitd look at you rocking the bikini bod
Expecting you remember the rocking bikini thread from earlier BC.

Definitely jealous of the hair.

Rshard · 18/11/2017 08:53

Happy Saturday all!

Another weekend, another swimming gala for me but I have low carb food with me so all good.

Hope everyone has a good day

StuntNun · 18/11/2017 09:00

Tooold there's no need to bow out of the thread, we're here to provide support. In general we advise against eating only once per day because it makes it difficult to get sufficient micronutrients in your diet. So it's great that it's working for you in the short-term but it may not be ideal in the long-term. Having managed to develop scurvy a couple of years ago (for complicated circumstantial reasons - not due to eating low carb) I can personally attest to the fact that vitamin deficiency is no fun whatsoever. That said, there are people who successfully maintain a one-meal-a-day eating pattern so it can be done if you're eating nutrient-rich foods.

The bigger issue with eating only once a day is for people who have a history of eating disorders. To prevent relapse I recommend that anyone with a past or present ED always eats at least two meals a day. This isn't aimed at you Tooold but at anyone who feels they may be vulnerable to disordered eating.

BrassicaBabe · 18/11/2017 09:27

Oooh, I’ve seen 10.6. Can I hang onto it until Monday...

Wh0KnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 18/11/2017 10:03

Ouch Scabbers - I have it too, wellies are pretty well a no for me these days, I can keep it at bay by wearing trainers with orthotics most of the time but very hard finding any other suitable footwear.

Anyone else struggle with water on dsys whn you are out and about? I was out hslf the day in town yesterday and forgot alk about my water until the afternoon then couldn't catch up so only made 2L (I'm not prepared to drink much after 8.30 as I would need to get up in the night). It's not just carrying the water around it's finding loos (I am a bit weak in the PF). Going to a football match today, ladies loos are grotty, few in number and a long way from where we're sitting Sad, so I'm trying to work through a lot now.

GailLondon · 18/11/2017 10:07

Morning! Husband away for the weekend so I've had to miss parkrun this morning :(

Currently sat in soft play with the little ones as it's too cold to face the playground!

chocdog · 18/11/2017 11:32

I'm cosy in a Cafe One having black coffee and killing time before I pick up DD. Just ate my brunch (Spinach and hard boiled egg) out of a tupperware pot sitting on a freezing cold wall ouside the Salvation Army. Bootcamp Life.

Mimosa1 · 18/11/2017 12:57

Hi everyone, I'm popping on to sing the joys of Delouis mayonnaise and aioli. Oh. my. Goodness. For someone who never particularly liked mayonnaise, I could almost eat the stuff with a spoon. It's more expensive than Hellman's but so so nice. The garlic one is not for a day when you can't brush your teeth after though - it's really strong.

GailLondon · 18/11/2017 13:08

I've just put a batch of the DietDoctor keto garlic bread (recipe linked by BIWI the other day) in the oven.
They look...........interesting!!!!! Will update on the final result later

Scabbersley · 18/11/2017 13:20

Tooold don't bow out! I flounced a few weeks ago and am so pleased that I slunk back in. Everyone has been so supportive.

Wh0KnowsWhereTheTimeG0es it's a bitch isn't it? I have to wear wellies as I do so much outside with horses in mud! I've got insoles in today and just mainlining nurofen.

B: bacon
S: boiled egg
L: coffee!
D0dont know

ilovecherries · 18/11/2017 13:20

Scabers, one of the advantages of dropping a show doze over the last 6 months is that my shoes can all accommodate orthotics. Can't believe the difference in makes, I even have them in my slippers. Wellies would be beyond me though. My jaw is still clamped shut though :(

singadream · 18/11/2017 13:31

The last couple of days I have felt completely bloated. Any ideas why this would be? Last night I had pork belly and salad. This morning I felt bloated. Had sausages for brunch and now my tummy feels uncomfortable again. I have got af If that makes a difference?

ClearEyesFullHearts · 18/11/2017 13:39

GailLondon is the garlic bread purple?

BIWI · 18/11/2017 14:07

@singadream - generally speaking, the cure for bloatedness is more water!

@GailLondon - very interested to know how it comes out, and if it looks anything like the picture!

OP posts:
GailLondon · 18/11/2017 14:25

ClearEyesFullHearts Yes It's very dark brown with a hint of purple! Like a rich rye bread colour or even darker. But I'm actually pretty impressed with the texture and how well they have risen. I've just done the first part so far and baked them into rolls, then tonight for dinner i'll cut one open and toast with the garlic butter.
I think its the type of psyllium husk I used that caused the dark colour as the psyllium powder was quite brown to start with. Apparently other brands are much lighter in colour so I am going to order in a different brand from amazon where the reviews say it doesn't give the purple/brown colour!
I've just tried one of the rolls with a bit of normal butter, its quite good! A bit spongier in texture than standard bread but thats only to be expected with so much psyllium and egg in the mixture. And that will probably improve when toasted to get a bit crispier. Definitely the most bread-like thing I've had in a while with such a lowcarb count.
So i'd give it
Taste: 7/10
Looks: 2/10 but should be better next time I try!
