I love this week, because this is when all the naysayers and doubters realise that this WOE really works!

(... and those who've cheated realise that that really doesn't work Wink)

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to record your first loss

I missed most of this weekend as I have my very lovely SIL staying with us, prior to her leaving for a 6 month stint in Australia. So I haven't been able to be as glued to the laptop as I am usually.

Glad to hear that some of you have reported in good losses already - I'll look forward to hearing the rest today!

Good luck everyone, for this second week. Hopefully after a good first week you'll know it's worth it Flowers

I get mine from Ocado. Ive just eaten about a third of a celeriac, Blush

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 16/10/2017 22:41

I'm also an East Midlands girl at heart, although I have left it all behind for the bright lights of the big city. Lived about halfway between Leicester and Nottingham.

I bought myself a celeriac today. It looks pretty serious. I assume I'm supposed to peel it? Might need a bigger knife!

I made cauliflower cheese for tea with sauce made from basically a pint of double cream. It was delicious but I could only managed small spoonful and now feel a bit sick- it was so rich.

Congrats on all those losses and I hope people are having some great NSVs too.

twinkledag · 16/10/2017 22:42

Good to see you @C4rollinandventing Smile

Managed to stick with it today! Onwards and downwards!

starsky22 · 16/10/2017 22:47

I'm a complete celeriac convert, love celeriac mash, in fact i think I prefer it to potato.

C4 I read your post earlier about the envelope your DH left and thought it was lovely and wondered whether that made up for him leaving the medical bag, clearly not quite yet!

Carby I find alcohol has a big impact on my weight loss, even just one glass of wine, so have made the decision to stop drinking (apart from the very rare occasion). I spent the evening in the pub on Friday and drank pints of water and didn't miss it. I know drinking will stop me losing and at the moment my view is that I would rather see the scales go down than have a drink, so I'm fine with it.

singadream · 16/10/2017 23:13

My dinner was disgusting. My fault. I rushed making a lamb mince then had cheese and a fried egg on top. Dh is away and it was my attempt to use up what was left in fridge. But was oily and yuk. Am now resisting ds's leftover birthday cake.

prettybird · 16/10/2017 23:21

Trying to up my veg count, I got home from a meeting at 10 and microwaved myself some brussel sprouts with butter for a snack! ShockGrin

Gammeldragz · 17/10/2017 06:05

Not RTFT but got a tear in my eye at c4 letter from DH. How sweet is that?! Well done everyone on the losses. 2lb down for me, can someone please update the SS as I haven't enough room in my phone for the sheets app!

HarlotsWeb · 17/10/2017 07:09

A lesson from last night that I should have known in advance.

It is not enough to think "I will have the roasted pork belly with winter greens and whole grain mash and then leave the mash." I need to ask the waitress to bring it to me WITHOUT THE MASH ON THE PLATE.

HarlotsWeb · 17/10/2017 07:11

(Having eaten the mash, I then slid inexorably into Baked Alaska for pudding. And then, because why the hell not, two pieces of fudge with my coffee. Because I am a carby twat.) Anyway. I shall not dwell. I am back on it today.

TheMonkeysOnTheTable · 17/10/2017 07:26

Morning all.
I'm on much way into work with what feels like a mountain of food. Especially seeing as I don't even feel hungry yet.
B: 2 squares of mushroom and spinach oven omelette (will probably only attempt to eat one and save the rest for tomorrow)
L: salmon, prawns, avocado and spinach.
S: celery and pate.
I bought emergency snack in as I have to work late tonight (parents evening). Im paranoid about getting stomach rumbly hungry in the middle of it and only having the option of school sandwiches to eat. (although I guess I could always hide in the corner and scrape out the cheese and over-processed ham filings.)

D: moussaka and salad.

There is definitely a disconnect between how hungry I feel and how much food I'm providing myself with. I'm guessing this will take more than 1 week to sort out!

Scabbersley · 17/10/2017 07:29

I slept all night last night. First night in ages.

I THINK it may have been the hot milk!

Is hot milk a complete no? I had a spoon of cocoa powder and a few drops of vanilla

TheMonkeysOnTheTable · 17/10/2017 07:31

By the way - those of you who've mentioned alcohol slowed down or stopped weight loss - is this something you found on other WsOE or does it seem particularly the case with HFLC?
Thanks.

ilovecherries · 17/10/2017 07:43

I do attribute part of my success on this woe to giving up alcohol completely. Haven't had a drink since 31st December. It's not just the calories, it's the fact I don't get the munchies, and am much less likely to make 'what the hell' decisions. We (because my husband stopped with me), decided we would go the whole hog, and go zero tolerance on it. We were kinda shocked that we could still have celebrations and holidays with no alcohol. Now our 'dry year' is nearly up we haven't decided yet what the next step is.

Rshard · 17/10/2017 07:49

I agree with ilove, it’s the associated munchies with alcohol that derail my previous attempts so I’m keeping clear.

B - mushrooms, scrambled eggs cooked in butter, 2 piece bacon
L - spinach, rocket, lettuce, tuna, half an avocado and mayo
D - homemade bolognaise

Are we still counting day 1 of x? Is this 59?

Hope everyone has a good day

GoBigOrange · 17/10/2017 07:50

Down from 243 to 239. Not a bad start!

I wasn't very organised last week though, so I was eating probably too much cheese, yogurt, slightly too carby veg etc. I was also having milk in my coffees. Almond milk has now been bought and is actually pretty nice. So that is saving a few carbs anyway.

Monday:
B - 2 scrambled eggs with spinach and ham
L - creamy leek, celery, asparagus soup
D - Cod, courgette, green pepper, mushrooms cooked in butter.

ponygirlcurtis · 17/10/2017 07:59

Monkeys, someone with better knowledge will come along but my understanding is that this WOE is about biological processes (ketosis, fat burn, etc) rather than just calories in VS calories out. Sugar and too many carbs affect those processes. I read it somewhere as them turning off the 'fat burning tap' or resetting it and it could take a day or two to get the process going again - so stalling things. Alcohol has sugar (and sometimes carbs? I think beer is basically liquid bread) so it interferes with the processes just as other sugary or carby foods would. knowing this doesn't stop me struggling to give it up...

readyforno2 · 17/10/2017 08:23

I'm here!!

Sorry I'm just joining the thread now. Had a good (food wise) week last week but it was mental.

We've just moved out of our flat into my dads with the 2dc in tow. Staying there for two months till the new house is finished.

Food yesterday
B - natural yog
L - mushroom and cheese omelette
D - chilli (picked out the beans) and lettuce
Probably 3l water and two coffees

Today
B - natural yog
L - left over chilli
D - sausages with mashed cauliflower

I'm so happy to be back on this woe, can't wait to see the results.
KOKO everyone, I'll read the thread properly later.

HolgerDanske · 17/10/2017 08:30

Yes this WOE has quite a complex biological base. So where on a calorie restricted diet you might be able to 'cheat' one day and restrict the next to make up for it, it doesn't work that way with low carbing. For maintenance, yes, in moderation, but to take advantage of the really quite effortless weight loss process on LCHF and particularly on bootcamp, and keep the fat burning going (because that is actually what it is - your body switches from using readily available carbs to using a different fuel burning process in order to access your body fat for easy energy) you have to stick to the rules. Every time you have something you shouldn't, you derail the body's switch from its fat burning state and it can take quite a while to get back into that state.

Alcohol is an easy fuel, it always takes precedence as fuel. So it derails from various perspectives - it puts something in that has to be burnt before any other fuel will get touched. So every time you have a drink it will be longer before any fat is burnt. It then also, depending on the drink, can be very high in carbs so derails the actual process going on in your body. Plus the issue that people have already mentioned, that alcohol tends to be a gateway step to less control, less determination and more intake of things that should not be had, thereby derailing the process again.

I'm sure someone will be along to explain the science in more detail.

Pannacott · 17/10/2017 08:41

3.5 lb loss for me which I'm happy with. It was lower earlier in the week but I had wine (we were away and it was very stressful!). Feeling good for the weeks ahead.

B - omlette with spinach and cheese
L - greek salad, no toms
D - chinese style pork with cabbage, roast broccoli and cauli rice

I meant to say to whoever posted earlier about breastfeeding - this diet can definitely affect breastfeeding. Any diet which reduces your calories (and for many people this will) can affect breastfeeding, so that might have something to do with it. And the food you eat can affect the taste of the breastmilk as well.

HolgerDanske · 17/10/2017 08:48

Good morning everyone btw!

KOKO! Flowers to everyone for making it this far, and good luck to the new starters!

NSVs:

Clear, fresh looking face
No puffiness in my face
My arms look much better already
My stomach is done bloating so I can see a bit more of a waistline

Just a thought, there have been some instances of people having veg they're unaware of being very high in carbs and that sort of thing, so just thought I'd mention that there is an allowed veg list to guide you and all sorts of other helpful information and advice, on the spreadsheet.

ASDismynormality · 17/10/2017 08:54

I visited a secondary school for my son yesterday, it was such a bizzare experience. Afterwards I nose dived into some cream and raspberries, at least it wasn't cake I was craving! I did feel sick after so feel no hurry to eat cream again!

twinkledag · 17/10/2017 09:13

I had a good day yesterday, first one in a while Grin

prettybird · 17/10/2017 09:19

Still showed 13stone 1lb this morning Smile - even before any "movement" doing the Shred (Pilates class today instead) Wink

Scabbersley · 17/10/2017 09:29
