I love this week, because this is when all the naysayers and doubters realise that this WOE really works!

(... and those who've cheated realise that that really doesn't work Wink)

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to record your first loss

I missed most of this weekend as I have my very lovely SIL staying with us, prior to her leaving for a 6 month stint in Australia. So I haven't been able to be as glued to the laptop as I am usually.

Glad to hear that some of you have reported in good losses already - I'll look forward to hearing the rest today!

Good luck everyone, for this second week. Hopefully after a good first week you'll know it's worth it Flowers

Holger It's DH's sister that lives in Denmark, she's been there for 45 years. I absolutely love Danish Weddings they are so much fun compared to ours. The back story is all in our threads from the between bootcamp chat somewhere. It was a week of epic posts detailing everything that happened and me having quite a lot to drink having not touched a drop since February. I love going to Denmark but it is very expensive.

prettybird · 16/10/2017 15:37

I was 13 stone in February 2016 - got there just before going skiing - so not that long ago but had to wear a pair of dh's salopettes rather than my own smaller pair I had worn 2 years previously (although I had had to wear dh's salopettes before Blush).

I was under 10 stone when I got married in 1998. Trying to aim to get, not quite there, but at least into a healthy BMI (which is around 10 stone 9lb) by my 20th wedding anniversary next May. Need to KOKO ShockGrin

Hi all, I've just come back from the most delicious lunch with my DF. I was complaining of being a bit lonely this maternity leave - second baby so none of my NCT friends from the first time are on mat leave. He is retired and so he decided to take take me out for a steak lunch in the middle of the day with baby. The reason I'm posting is that they showed the weight of the steak - 180g - and it made me think of the previous discussion about portion size. I'm pretty sure that the recommended portion of meat is only about 100g? Regardless, it was delicious and I ate it all with a fried egg on top and buttered greens. That said, I'm still a little
bit hungry, so I'm guessing not enough fat. Amazing what a difference it makes to satiety, so I'm going to have lots of olive oil on salad tonight plus lamb and aubergine curry. KOKO

C4 - i love phase 8 dresses. Haven't heard of Velvet Mint or Hush but will need some bits for work when I go back next month, and have a few days on my own while my baby will be at the childminder settling in, so off to have a google! Hope to be a size smaller then :-)

Thiswillbemyusername · 16/10/2017 16:15

I feel a little bit sick and headachey today. It's not from carb-flu as I passed that stage a while ago.

B: devilled eggs and coffee + cream
S: Greek yoghurt and pork scratchings
L+D: chicken, bacon, leeks, asparagus mushrooms mixed with cream and feta cheese

HolgerDanske · 16/10/2017 16:49

I'm struggling a little this afternoon. Feeling antsy and also a bit sad. It's due to having had over a week off work which is so nice, but also gives me a lot of time to think which isn't all that good for me.

If I wasn't waiting for a parcel to be delivered I'd have gone out for a good long walk in the sunshine to work my way out of it.

But I'm going to take out one of my drawers of tat and get it done (it's not tat really, but it is stuff I need to sort through and clear out)! It always feels so good to get things off the chore list.

Later I will make a couple of admin calls as well, which will clear a bit more of the mental load.

Dinner is going to be haddock in a parsley and cream sauce, with lots of broccoli and cauliflower.

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 16/10/2017 16:52

Thiswillbe it could be a reappearance of carb flu as I know I get it coming and going on and off maybe lasting part of a day - I was just thinking I’d not had it for about a week and I’m 10 weeks in.**

As I said in my hastily typed post this morning as I was rushing to get out the door I’ve lost 1lb this week, not great but going in the right direction.* My eating was probably a bit erratic last week as I was away in London and couldn’t always keep to LFHC -although I did try hard to keep to it.* Also I’ve ended up a bit bunged up again!!! Oh well KOKO

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 16/10/2017 16:54

The bold gremlin is lurking around again.
We have a weird light up here in the midlands and the sun was orange earlier - I think it’s the effects of hurricane Ophelia. I’m worried about my relations in n Ireland

Rshard · 16/10/2017 17:09

Sorry to hear you’re feeling a bit low holger Flowers hopefullly doing a constructive job will help.

I’m in Derbyshire nomore and we had the weird light and orange sun around lunchtime, is glorious sunshine now. The wind has got all my bedding and towels dry - makes me happy!

HolgerDanske · 16/10/2017 17:33

Thank you Rs, it's passed now. Or at least I feel more comfortable with it. I made the two phone calls that were due so I feel a lot better now. I dread the idea of making phone calls when I'm on my own time, which is odd because I make a LOT of phone calls in the course of my working day.

I'm going to have a bath now and read my book. Chilling is such a luxury.

wombattoo · 16/10/2017 17:35

Wow, there have been some amazing results. Well done everybody.

Welcome Princess and Flamingo Thanks

Furry and Very I have updated the spreadsheet.

Thanks for the new thread BIWI

HarlotsWeb · 16/10/2017 17:56

I can't update from my phone, but if someone could put in 241 lbs for me, I would be so grateful.

Not a bad day so far. Celebrated weight loss with a MacDonalds breakfast - just the sausage from inside a macmuffin. They asked me three times to be sure I meant it when I said no bread, egg or cheese (I don't like egg or cheese), and then they shrugged and laughed and charged me 40p :)

HarlotsWeb · 16/10/2017 17:58

I am being taken out for dinner though. Hoping to be able to navigate through the menu. Main course should be ok. But what to do about pudding? If I feel myself crumbling, is there a least bad option to go for? Or do I need tips on how to stand firm and keep refusing?

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 16/10/2017 17:59

Rshard so am I!! I’m between Derby and Nottingham

BrassicaBabe · 16/10/2017 18:04

Cheese board Harlot?

Rshard · 16/10/2017 18:12

That’s good to hear holger enjoy your soak.

You must be very close to me nomore!

CarbyDiem · 16/10/2017 18:13

Moussaka and spinach.
Cooked enough for the next few days meals.

Week 2 - Low Carb Bootcamp - my favourite week!
cafeaulaitpourvous · 16/10/2017 18:16

Help!

I have bought a little squash thing from Aldi and it is now roasting in the oven

I plan to stuff one half with home made bolognese topped with cheese

Is squash ok?

Breakfast - ham and olives
Dinner - small sirloin steak, cream and mushroom sauce and salad
Tea - hopefully above

ClearEyesFullHearts · 16/10/2017 18:23

Harlot's definitely a cheese board if available, if not a coffee (decaf?) with cream is perfectly acceptable.

This is the societal expectation that there must always be dessert (sugar) on a night out for dinner. What did BIWI call it...SOS? Something like that. Can't remember, but it was clever.

It's simply not necessary.

I've never been a dessert eater, or cakes with tea, or sweeties, or whatever. Sure, I like them. They taste nice. But I'd much rather have the cheese or a savoury starter than dessert.

People generally don't care about someone's food choices unless they're

a) worried about the other person, e.g. anorexia/obesity
b) over-invested/have own issues, e.g. if I'm eating sugar/breaking my diet I want to take everyone down with me, or
c) revolted, e.g., I dunno, someone ordering bananas with liver or something Confused

Honestly, most people don't care. If anyone asks and you don't want to discuss LCHF just say, "I fancy this tonight instead" or something equally noncommittal.

Enjoy your dinner, and congrats on your first week.

Giraffeski · 16/10/2017 18:33

Well done to everyone, theres some great losses!

I didn't have breakfast this morning as I was so rushed getting kids out of the door and out to work, so just had a coffee, but I actually didn't feel that hungry all morning.
B: coffee with cream
L: cauliflower microwaved with butter (AMAZINGLY nice and ridiculously easy) mixed with a bit of grated cheese and ham hock.
D: not had it yet but will be home made beef burgers with salad and celeriac chips.
The constant weeing has slowed down now which is nice!
I'm feeling really motivated by my 9lb loss, so KOKO!

wombattoo · 16/10/2017 18:33

Harlot s/s done

Giraffeski · 16/10/2017 18:40

We are going to Portugal on Sunday so I may not be able to update next week (perhaps I can just weigh on Sunday and take that as my number)
I'm slightly worried about keeping to it as we are going with another family so will be a lot more meals out than we would normally do when away.
We are in a villa so I can do a supermarket run for cream, butter etc, and some barbecues so again that will be fine. I will have to resist the sardine pate though in the restaurants (nothing to spread it on), and lovely monkfish rice.

Hippadippadation · 16/10/2017 18:46

Carby that looks amazing. Send some this way!

Harlot cheeseboard or filter coffee with cream.

cafe I think squash is quite carby.

Seems to be a lot of us in the East Midlands this time. I'm north Leicestershire. I went out for a walk in the weird sun to the co op to get more milk & eggs earlier. It was weirdly warm.

ChinchillaFur · 16/10/2017 18:49

carbydiem I also 'only' lost 1lb but I am determined to be happy. A 1lb per week loss is 10lb over the course of bootcamp. 10lb is at least one dress size. KOKO.

Youcantscaremeihavechildren · 16/10/2017 18:51

Hi all I've been looking for you...i'm starting 2 weeks behind as I've just done my first half marathon, feeling really tired and rubbish today with zero energy and a really difficult week at work ahead. Two week half term coming up, so thats when I'm starting...will dip into these threads and prepare this week, I joined the last bootcamp late too!

ClearEyesFullHearts · 16/10/2017 18:59

Carby I've been reading your posts with interest and you seem to be struggling with this WOE.

I'm wondering if this is the way for all weight-loss diets you've tried? I believe you were on the last Bootcamp thread (under another name) and I'm wondering how much you lost then?

You don't have to say, of course, but I get the impression it must have been enough for you to KOKO this time. Also, I'd ask what would be a better weight loss choice for you. Because most diets suck, don't provide proper nutrition, and are not sustainable as a way of eating.

In the long term, at goal weight, this way of eating will allow the occasional bagel for breakfast, bowl of pasta, slice of cake. OCCASIONAL. Maybe one of those once a week. It really depends on our individual reactions and tolerances. So ask yourself if you can live with that. Most of us find the food glorious, but BIWI says this way of eating doesn't work for a small percentage of people. If it's not working for you, don't do it. If you don't like the food, don't do it. But don't give up until you have found a method that will work better for you. Otherwise it's yo-yo dieting and that's no good.

I'm glad you've come out on a more positive note today and are sticking with it. We are all cheering for your success and happiness.

It is so important for us to use these boards in moments of weakness because there's always someone there to support and encourage, which doesn't feel like it happens in our real lives.
