I love this week, because this is when all the naysayers and doubters realise that this WOE really works!

(... and those who've cheated realise that that really doesn't work Wink)

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to record your first loss

I missed most of this weekend as I have my very lovely SIL staying with us, prior to her leaving for a 6 month stint in Australia. So I haven't been able to be as glued to the laptop as I am usually.

Glad to hear that some of you have reported in good losses already - I'll look forward to hearing the rest today!

Good luck everyone, for this second week. Hopefully after a good first week you'll know it's worth it Flowers

Late lunch of sausages, creamed leeks, mashed swede and fried sprouts with bacon. Dinner will probably leftovers. ‘‘Twas so delicious I’m having trouble not eating to much of it. Currently drinking loads of water instead.

prettybird · 22/10/2017 18:25

Every so often I get despondent, thinking how far I still have to go Sad

Then I remind myself, it didn't all go on overnight, and even if it takes longer to come off than go on. I also remind myself that I can either choose to do something about it or just do nothing and still be in the same unhealthy weight range in the weeks and months ahead. And that losing weight slowly and regularly is better for me in all sorts of ways: to ensure I've properly got into the habit of this WoE, to get my body used to and - relevant given the discussions about tummy overhangs - to give my skin the chance to keep up with my weight loss.

CarbyDeadUn · 22/10/2017 18:32

Evening all.
I discovered some GF pork scratchings today. So I ate them for lunch.
Also had leftover meatzza.

Being sensitive/irritable/intolerant is a right pain in the arse (often quite literally) but it does mean that I’m not tempted by the cookies and cake I have leftover from church. I’ll take them into work so they won’t go to waste. But I was thinking just how hard it must be for those who could eat them but shouldn’t.

InkyToesies · 22/10/2017 18:39

@PrettyBird I understand your despondency, however, the good news is that it's coming off faster than it went on. I know it doesn't feel that way, but a watched pot never boils and all that...

@IloveCherries I took the broccoli-instead-of-cauliflower cheese based on the recipe you gave me out of the oven 20 minutes ago. It looks and smells heavenly. Thanks again.

ChinchillaFur · 22/10/2017 18:57

Just logging my food for today.

B: 3 Keto waffles, FF greek yog and 6 raspberries
L: 4oz steak burger, 1 slice streaky bacon, cheese, celeriac chips & salad
D: 2 Eggs Benedict on spinach, 3 asparagus & 2 slices streaky bacon.

Good luck for tomorrows weigh in and week 3 everyone.

ASDismynormality · 22/10/2017 19:38

pretty I understand how you are feeling, I also have a long way still to go. What's my alternative, giving up and getting unhealthy again? We can do it!

carby. My family still eat biscuits, bread, cake - we have it in the house all the time. It's all food I could eat if I wanted to but I don't (which has surprised me). Changing my own eating habits was hard enough without expecting my family to do the same, I know that works for some but not me.

I had an awful stomach ache today, I don't know if it's the effects of Fridays Oppo. I'm going away for a couple of days this week so hope it's better by then. Also my weight was up 3lbs this morning so taught me not to binge on ice cream even if it is low carb!

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 22/10/2017 19:52

Well day before weigh day and I am mainlining water in an attempt to flush it all out. Had a new low on scales this morning but I suspect it won’t show again tomorrow.

B- Omelette with feta, spinach and chorizo
L-pumpkin soup
D- gammon steak with celeriac chips and kale

I’m watching bake off which is proving a challenge. Trying to resist picking at something.

Scabbersley · 22/10/2017 19:54

I am doing really well but really missing my hot drink in the evening. Would normally have horlicks or cocoa (I know, rock and roll). Any clever ideas? Decaf tea doesn't quite do it.

Scabbersley · 22/10/2017 19:56

B: left overs from yesterday
L: avocado and pate. Greek yogurt
D: gammon, cauliflower cheese (the low carb way), spinach and broccoli. Couldn't eat it all.

S: half a pack of pork scratchings, they were disgusting

Not quite enough water but about 1.2l.

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 22/10/2017 19:57

Pretty i sympathise. it’s very frustrating.* I know I’ve lost 12 lb so far and that it’s the best I’ve done on for a long time. I look at my fat flabby stomach and my arms and think when will i ever get it off. Why can’t someone wave a magic wand and I’m lovely and slim (and 15 years younger!).* Then I tell myself to get on with it - it’s a woe and it took me years to put it all on and my weight is a symptom of years of overeating and dysfunctional eating so it needs a changed approach to sort

Scabbersley · 22/10/2017 19:57

Not hopeful about the weigh in as I am very constipated Blush

CarbyDeadUn · 22/10/2017 20:02

Scabbers. Have you tried pukka teas? I like a mug of the bedtime one at, well.... bedtime.

Scabbersley · 22/10/2017 20:04

Yes. It's the hot milk that I like though. I've drunk hot milk and honey or horlicks throughout my life since I was a child.

ilovecherries · 22/10/2017 20:07

I have been asked 19 times today if I won't 'just have a little bit'. I have said no thanks 19 times. But really, just F off already. I'm bored of it.

OuaisMaisBon · 22/10/2017 20:07

I've been drooling since someone mentioned "cheesy celeriac chips", but I can't find a recipe for them anywhere. Do I just oven roast the celeriac pieces with olive oil and seasonings and then put them under the grill for a bit with cheese on top once they're cooked? (I'm another one who loves celeriac in all the ways you can eat potatoes, but who hates celery!)
I'm anticipating no loss, and perhaps even a small gain, tomorrow and am somewhat pissed off about it. If I haven't had a proper "whoosh" by the end of a month of strict BC, then I'll probably re-think and go boring calorie counting low carb and low fat. I'm particularly peeved since I have soooooo much weight to lose that you'd have thought it would have dropped off me, at least in the first couple of weeks! Maybe exercise would make all the difference, I must try to go swimming from tomorrow.
KOKO, all, from this exceptionally traditionally-built old git. Grin

SoMuchToBits · 22/10/2017 20:15

Oooh, lots of people who like celeriac but hate celery - think I might have to go to the greengrocers tomorrow!

Dinner tonight was pork tenderloin and mushrooms in a garlic, cream, sage and mustard sauce. With buttered leeks. It was lovely. Ds is really enjoying my "diet" meals, and is starting to decline the extra carbs (which I'm not eating) at some of them! Think he might be a bit of a low carb convert! Grin

Hippadippadation · 22/10/2017 20:17

Ouais from everything I've read, this WOE heals your body first before losing weight. If your metabolism is effed up from years of dieting, your body needs to catch up first. It's not a magic quick fix diet that you lose pounds and pounds every week, nothing is. If you're enjoying the food, you can't really ask for more than that, can you ? You'd rather be hungry & miserable eating low fat stuff than all these lovely satiating things you're eating now?

Focus on the NSVs as well - is your skin clearer? Sleeping better? Mind less foggy? Are you taking measurements? Your body can change, even if your weight doesn't go down. I had a 25 inch waist at 9st 10lb - unheard of on low fat diets!

Please don't give up just because you're not losing "fast enough."

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 22/10/2017 20:17

Scabbers hotel chocolat do an amazing chocolate chai.**

I have been thinking about trying a coconut milk cocoa if I can find a low enough carb one.**

Otherwise try almond milk.** I think it would be nice warmed up and you could maybe use a tea bag to give it some flavour?

SoMuchToBits · 22/10/2017 20:18

Scabbersley, how about a small amount of cream, heated up with a sprinkling of cocoa powder or a small grating of very dark chocolate on top?

toomuchicecream · 22/10/2017 20:19

Excited!! Actually read the rules on the spreadsheet and discovered I should be drinking 5 litres of water a day, not the 6 I've been forcing down. Even better - I've been aiming for 12 pints of water a day (yes you can hear the sloshing sound as I walk...). I've just done the calculation and that's actually 6.8 litres of water. No wonder I'm having to get up for the toilet so many times in the night!

CarbyDeadUn · 22/10/2017 20:19

I am so having warm cream with cocoa tonight.

SayrraT · 22/10/2017 20:20

scabbersly try a chai teabag in hot almond milk with added cream. I like that as a hot alternative drink.

I'm house sitting again and I've brought my scales with me Grin

CarbyDeadUn · 22/10/2017 20:20

I am sad about celeriac. It’s so useful but it gives me exorcist style projectile pukes.

SoMuchToBits · 22/10/2017 20:24

Oh dear, Carby, that might just have put me off the celeriac a tad...

ClearEyesFullHearts · 22/10/2017 20:25

prettybird your post about feeling despondent may have started out...erm... despondent, but I took inspiration from the way you logically and emotionally turned it around.

I've been feeling brilliant lately, lots of positive feedback, compliments, NSVs, energy, etc. Then yesterday lovely family member took a photo in which I can only be described as...obese.

Which I am.

Sigh.

Sucks to feel great but realise the road ahead. In my head I'm already a size 12 (which might be why some of us cheat after a significant weight loss/milestone--we feel we've won when we actually aren't where we want to be).

Anyway, your post was timely. It was a brilliant post. KOKO.
