I love this week, because this is when all the naysayers and doubters realise that this WOE really works!

(... and those who've cheated realise that that really doesn't work Wink)

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to record your first loss

I missed most of this weekend as I have my very lovely SIL staying with us, prior to her leaving for a 6 month stint in Australia. So I haven't been able to be as glued to the laptop as I am usually.

Glad to hear that some of you have reported in good losses already - I'll look forward to hearing the rest today!

Good luck everyone, for this second week. Hopefully after a good first week you'll know it's worth it Flowers

Tried celeriac chips for the first time. They are amazing. Like a mix of chips and roast parsnips. Yum yum.

YoLoNovVitMe · 21/10/2017 23:08

I cannot find celeriac anywhere and never can. I've never had a chance to cook it. So I have celerienvy going on right now with all these chips, dauphinoises and gratins Sad . Will have to make do with swede.

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 21/10/2017 23:37

Oh dear I've drunk too much! Had a good low carb food day but the booze is very bad I know.

Oh well it's done now. I don't think I have the emotional energy to deal with my binge drinking and my binge eating at the same time.

Kleptronic · 21/10/2017 23:38

YoLoNoVitMe I got some celeriac in the Lidl and also in Sainsbury's, my greengrocers does them too. Mind you my greengrocers has green cauliflower in a Fibonacci spiral so I might be somewhere arcane, you never know.

GeneandFred · 22/10/2017 01:12

Can someone please point me in the right direction of a low carb pizza? I know the bases are usually made out of cauliflower but there are so many recipes to choose from! I hear good things about fathead, can anyone confirm this?

BIWI · 22/10/2017 01:14

@Tottyandmarchpane1 That sounds like one of the best NSV ever! Smile

Thank you for sharing your before and after pictures starsky22 and Gammeldragz - what amazing progress.

I guess for Thanksgiving I will just have to take a tiny bit of a couple of carby things to fill my plate out and try to slip most of them to DH or DS during dinner! Because this is Thanksgiving in the South, where nothing is safe for the low-carber! To go with our turkey it will be bread, mac n cheese, black eye peas, cornbread dressing, sweet potato casserole, corn pudding, mashed potato, dumplings, battered okra, green bean casserole, cheese and pineapple bake...

Luckily I hate Pumpkin pie and they all know it, so I won't be expected to eat dessert, and dodging the cookies and fudge later shouldn't be a problem if I just take my feral son and nephews outside to play.

blackteaplease · 22/10/2017 05:50

Morning all. It's the last day of week 2☺. I had terrible sugar cravings yesterday evening. I did resist but it was very hard work.

OuaisMaisBon · 22/10/2017 07:07

Good morning, everyone! Thank you for all your inspiring comments and photos, lurking here is keeping me on the straight and narrow.
Timbuktu - I hear you, but unfortunately, this way of eating is unforgiving and in order for it to work, you need to stay off the booze for at the least the first 2 weeks of BC. Believe me, I know, I am struggling daily with my "wine o'clock" - particularly since I am not losing anything and have not had the usual first week "whoosh" of 5 or 6 lbs I normally get when doing this woe. I'm sorry, that's not very encouraging to hear - but I am telling myself that 25 years of boozy carb-eating got me to where I am now, so 2 weeks of LCHF are hardly going to make a big inroad and it's worth it for my health to stay off the booze even if there are no apparent benefits currently! But I think you need to be in the right "head-space" to do strict BC - and also, not socialize much, I find that the hardest, so am hermit-like at the moment (also because I can't move much because of a bad back!) Well done for staying low-carb food-wise, anyway!
blackteaplease - yes, I'm still craving chocolate, and wine, though the wine, at least, is a habit - when I go to cook supper, I am used to doing a Graham Kerr (alcoholic Ozzie-sounding TV "Galloping Gourmet" in the Seventies) and drinking a glass or two of naice whine to increase my enjoyment in doing the cooking, and last night I craved it particularly, for some reason! Anyhow, we've both lasted till today, not going to sabotage ourselves on the last day of the second week, are we?!
KOKO, everyone, from an exceptionally traditionally built old bag!

Yolo we’re one of those small towns that’s the last to get anything but even in summer we can usually gat celariac.* Tesco, Morrison or Lidl. There’s lots around now as it’s that time of year so keep looking around I’m sure some will turn up.* It will have been worth the wait (i hope)

Totty that is a lovely NSV

Gobig that does sound difficult. Did anyone else’s mouth water just a little bit?

Morning. Still the same weight as 12/10 (not once in my life has my weight been this stable). I'm not sure it will go down any further, I don't have any obvious fat deposits left (will try and find one of those scales that checks this)

B will be scrambled egg, butter, cheese and avocado (again) because it is tasty and fills me up for the morning.

Oh and another thing: I've started really enjoying green tea since beginning this WOE. I wouldn't have liked it before because I used to have sugar in my drinks, but I just have green tea by itself. Supposed to be healthy too

YoLoNovVitMe · 22/10/2017 08:21

Thanks very klep . I will keep scouring the shop shelves!

nomore how did the soup turn out?

Veryflummoxed · 22/10/2017 08:23

Forgot to say Pretty that dinner looks lovely.
This will be. Well done.

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 22/10/2017 08:26

I know. I feel such a twat. I told myself as I was pouring the first drink that I’d only have one. Obviously that was a massive fail.

What’s more irritating is that I’d even manoeuvred the night to mine so I could cook and control the food. And I managed to dodge lunch out at IKEA and all of the carby snacks people brought so otherwise it was quite a successful day.

Suppose I ought to check in

B- avocado, scrambled egg with kale and bacon
L- meatballs and salad
D-pumpkins and paneer curry with cauliflower rice

  • too many vodka and diet cokes.

I’m going to try and go for a run today once I feel a bit more human.

Hippadippadation · 22/10/2017 08:32

Well yesterday was a success - stuck to the salads, meat and cheese and resisted the apple cake, custard and fairy cakes. I had a spoon of clotted cream though and now as expected I have a cystic spot on my jawline! Oh well, was worth it. Grin

Food plan today:
L - leftover salad and meat
D - more leftover salad and meat (there's absolutely loads, I massively over-catered)

C4 is still unstable so they've not woken her up yet. That's all I know.

StuntNun · 22/10/2017 08:33

I woke up in the night feeling hungry which is a bit strange. We had a late dinner because DH and I take turns to cook for each other every Saturday after the kids have gone to bed. So I'm not sure why I was hungry at 3 a.m. I got up and had a big drink of water in case it was thirst rather than hungry but it's 8:30 now and my stomach is actually rumbling! No fasting for me today.

Hippadippadation · 22/10/2017 08:34

Oh and as expected, DH tried to argue with me saying I was too thin. T shut him up, I jumped on the scales in front of him and did my BMI. That shut him up and he's promised to get off my case now. Hooray!

InkyToesies · 22/10/2017 08:45

Just checking in with a NSV...my bra feels loose!

@Ilovecherries could you give me your cauliflower cheese recipe please?

Great inspiration and support from everyone else, including those who are struggling. Me too, but it's so worth it. Blimey, that Ancel Keys (sp?)- the low fat way is the way to lose weight guy- has got a lot to answer for.

CarbyDeadUn · 22/10/2017 08:48

Thanks for C4 update Hippa.

CarbyDeadUn · 22/10/2017 08:50

It’s my turn to do church cake. I was just sorting out my ingredients and thought I’d do a GF version too. Then went back in the kitchen and put the GF stuff back in the cupboard. If I make it I will eat it. So no GF version today (I’m usually the only GF needy one so I’m not doing anyone else out of a cake).

ilovecherries · 22/10/2017 08:54

inky. It's beyond easy. Break cauliflower into florets and parboil them to soften. Drain them well and return to heat for about 30 secs, shaking the pan (to dry them). Heat about 200 MLS double cream in a pan with a couple good handfuls of grated cheese. Stir all the time, it will thicken very quickly. If you want spice, add mustard, chilli flakes or horseradish at this point. Put cauliflower in overproof dish, pour sauce on top, sprinkle with more cheese. Bake in hot over for 15-20 mins. Serves 4.

GrumpyOldFucker · 22/10/2017 08:59

Your before and after pictures are amazing starsky22 and Gammeldragz! And thanks starsky for the link too, very interesting reading.

Yesterday I went into London shopping and had a nice NSV - the only size in some trousers I liked was XS, so I tried them and the assistant told me I didn’t need the S as they hung just as they did on the mannequin in the window! (Didn’t buy them though - £140!!)

Today’s plan is for a big Sunday lunch of

  • okra “chips” with taramasalata dip
  • Tom Kerridge’s Lancashire hot pot, made with lamb shanks, turnips and a celeriac top
SoMuchToBits · 22/10/2017 08:59

Very, is your Tesco very recent along with an M & S ? If so, I think you might live in the same town as my sister!

I need to ask all you celeriac eaters - does it taste anything like celery? Although I can buy it in my local greengrocers, I have never dared try it, as I hate celery!

GrumpyOldFucker · 22/10/2017 09:01

This is the Tom Kerridge book btw - he lost loads of weight low carbing. I find some of the recipes a bit higher carb than I want but they are usually adaptable.
