I love this week, because this is when all the naysayers and doubters realise that this WOE really works!

(... and those who've cheated realise that that really doesn't work Wink)

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to record your first loss

I missed most of this weekend as I have my very lovely SIL staying with us, prior to her leaving for a 6 month stint in Australia. So I haven't been able to be as glued to the laptop as I am usually.

Glad to hear that some of you have reported in good losses already - I'll look forward to hearing the rest today!

Good luck everyone, for this second week. Hopefully after a good first week you'll know it's worth it Flowers

I’m virtuously drinking water and have eaten 4 Parmesan crisps while dh is drinking wine and eating cheddars

Just got some vanilla powder with my shop, it’s pungent stuff! Guessing I’ll need the tiniest sprinkle on my yoghurt? I winced slightly at the price but it’s going to last ages I think.

Let’s koko through the weekend!

YoLoNovVitMe · 20/10/2017 20:49

timbuktu try pressing 0 several times. It usually gets me to a human in most phone menus.

blacktea i can't speak for everyone but it happened to me and a lot of others on the last bc and I was told it's very common. It will settle down over time don't worry. I have found since low carbing since May that after the initial shock period mid cycle, my periods have changed to every 2 or 3 weeks apart but are shorter, ie 4 or 5 days instead of 7. And most importantly, I no longer get hideous cramps every time. And the horrible hormone headache I usually get on day 1 or 2 is mild or non existent. Still a moody bitch though. Shock

RaininSummer · 20/10/2017 20:53

I am back in the zone. Have been doing bc lite since end of last bc but last week I found too hard to drop my little bits of dark choc and my nuts. Scales have been hovering up and down around the same place for about six weeks but got my low number today which cheered me up. Will carry on with stricter bootcamp for at least another week I think. Am struggling with water now its cooler. Do redbush tea and herbals count?

blackteaplease · 20/10/2017 21:02

I've just had an amazing dinner. Chicken curry with aubergine, mushroom and courgette sauce served with frozen cauliflower rice. It was absolutely delicious.

HarlotsWeb · 20/10/2017 21:06

Oh my God blackteaplease that sounds AMAZING. Home made? How did you do the sauce?

HarlotsWeb · 20/10/2017 21:07

I am going on holiday tomorrow, and won't be able to with myself on Monday. I think I might weigh myself tomorrow instead - rather than wait two weeks.

dataandspot · 20/10/2017 21:12

Cathy and Clare

Thankyou for posting your cheese scone recipe.

BIWI

Can you ask you how you deal with Christmas, birthdays and social occasions?

I am an all or nothing type person. I don't cheat at all when low carbing. (13 weeks this time). If I go off plan I stay off plan! So I would really like to conquer my massive weight swings.

BIWI · 20/10/2017 21:22

Christmas: I cook, therefore I get to say what we're eating! I do sometimes go off plan and eat carby stuff. But we don't have turkey and all the trimmings, so it's easier. We generally have something like a whole fillet of beef, with different veg. Sometimes I might have a roast potato or two, or possibly a Yorkshire pudding.

But I try to stay low carb as much as I can! I'm not a great pudding eater, so that's not an issue. My only real temptation is if someone has bought me nice chocolates - by which I don't mean Milk Tray or Roses, but stuff like Hotel Chocolat. The alcohol is the biggest downfall.

Birthdays (or other celebrations) generally the same - I've been low carbing for such a long time that it's pretty routine, to be honest. If I eat a dessert, it's because I really want one, and I don't beat myself up about it.

Social occasions are much easier, because I actively seek out low carb options. I have no qualms about asking restaurants to substitute things - salad for chips, for example. And I've never had a restaurant refuse to do that.

Going to other people's houses is a different matter. Generally - if they're really good friends - they know I low carb, or I tell them. But often they don't understand what that means! In which case I just go with the flow and eat what they have provided.

If you're going to adopt this WOE for the long term, you do have to accept that there will be certain situations where it's not possible - but not stress about it, and get back 'on the wagon' as soon as you can.

I made my every-second-Friday low carb chicken nuggets tonight: it was only after I'd made them that I realised that along with the parmesan, I also use flaxseed and ground almonds which aren't Boot Camp compatible Blush

Only had a few though as I only had 3 chicken breasts to divide amongst 3 of us rather than the usual 4. I topped up my supper with 8 microwaved (with butter of course ) brussel sprouts Shock

Dh has opened a bottle of Cava and is enjoying a glass......I am drinking water Grin

Halo
ilovecherries · 20/10/2017 21:35

I had an odd sensation today. For years I've felt I didn't fit into my body, that I was never sure where my physical edges were. I hated hugs (other than kids and DH) because all I could think was 'my back fat, my stomach rolls' etc etc. I always tried to get to a venue first if I was meeting someone, so I could be sitting when they arrived and didn't have to walk towards them. Today I was walking through a busy open plan office and had the oddest sensation of knowing where all my edges were, and fitting into the space I was occupying. Can't really describe it. But odd. And gratifying. I am feeling weird because I'm now well into a weight that I probably last saw 30 years ago so I am in very new territory.

Generally everyone is being very supportive but I am going to scream if I am asked one more time if I'm 'allowed' something. 'No carbs except vegetables' is surely evident that it excludes bread, cake, ice cream, pasta, dates, honey, etc etc. It's making me feel really cranky to be continually saying no. I'd understand if people were confused about say, carrots or peas, but ffs, cakes made with wholemeal flour and honey are pretty evidently not low carb.

dataandspot · 20/10/2017 21:37

Getting back on the wagon is probably my biggest issue! Once I have some carbs they seem to suck me back in!

ilovecherries · 20/10/2017 21:38

And I WILL deck the next person who goes 'ooooo cream! Naughty, naughty'. Oh bugger off! (I may be a little tetchy today!)

blackteaplease · 20/10/2017 21:42

@harlots

I made it up, one courgette, one aubergine and half a pack mushrooms. 2 diced chicken breasts Tin of tomatoes, chilli, garlic and random generous measures of cumin, coriander, turmeric and salt and pepper.

I did it in the slow cooker for 4 hrs on low.

Thiswillbemyusername · 20/10/2017 21:46

I am so full today! Love hearing everyone's NSV and recipes. I had sea bass and roast vegetables for dinner which I really enjoyed. I need to start planning my meals the night before though, I didn't have much to snack on today and was eyeing up carbs (I persevered though)

ASDismynormality · 20/10/2017 21:54

There were 37.5g of carbs in the whole tub so yes it could have been a lot worse, takes my total for the day to about 65g.
I bought it because I was stressed and ate it for the same reason. A problem that hasn't gone but I suppose was sort of controlled because at least it was a low carb choice just too much of it.

Anyway next week I'm going away, first time since starting this woe I won't be self catering. I trust myself to choose the low carb options and my family are good at keeping me on track.

starsky22 · 20/10/2017 22:08

I'm going to stay with friends for a few days next week and didn't want to put them out, so wasn't going to tell them about this woe and just try to avoid as much carby stuff as possible. However having read BIWIs post, I am going to tell them, as they are good friends and I know they will do what they can to support me.

Hippa thank you for the update, glad they have found the cause of the infection, had to be gammeldags didn't it! Hoping for a speeding recovery and that we get C4 back in our fold soon!

Veryflummoxed · 20/10/2017 22:10

pretty.* * I also use flaxseed and ground almonds which aren't Boot Camp compatible
Oh my goodness you are right.* We had chicken goujons coated in almond flour a couple of days ago and it didn’t occur you* me Blush

Veryflummoxed · 20/10/2017 22:16

Another bold fail.

Cherries that made me smile.

starsky22 · 20/10/2017 22:31

dataspot In the last 4 months I have had 2 events where i had planned carbyness, I had to have a plan in advance to ensure I didn't go off the rails, I ensured I had low carb meals the rest of the day, drank tons of water, did extra exercise and got straight back to BC the next day. I put on weight both times, but lost it within 3 days, however the headaches and carb cravings from eating carbs/sugar and then giving then up again lasted well over a week, so it's not something I would recommend on a regular basis. I also had been low carbing for at least a couple of months before I did this and had made good progress with my weight loss and decided I could cope with the impact on my weight loss journey.

Lenl · 20/10/2017 22:49

That's interesting star. It was my birthday last weekend and we went out for a meal, I ate a low carb main of mussels but had already decided weeks ago I would have a desert. I enjoyed (though not as much as I thought which was another interesting thing) and didn't feel bad as it was a planned decision. However I am still almost a week later struggling with sugar cravings. Really not worth it.

starsky22 · 20/10/2017 22:49

finally serve with a fork Grin

holger glad you didn't retreat into food, hope things get better

Lenl · 20/10/2017 22:50

Or even a dessert. A desert might have been more useful weight loss wise. Not much sugar there Grin

NutButterNutter · 20/10/2017 22:57

Thanks Biwi I needed the big stick. No idea why I did it. Carby twat emerged after a week and a half but has been beaten back. Punished myself with boiled eggs and cabbage (never. again. Envybleugh). Water and exercise underway!

wombattoo · 20/10/2017 23:20

Monkey I think it was you who asked about physillium husks. They are ground seeds that help with constipation.

In the spirit of StuntNun's post - here's my story:
I never had a weight problem until I had a hysterectomy at the age of 36. I suddenly gained a lot of weight. I tried sw, ww etc. they didn't work. I found boot camp about 2013 and I've been here ever since.
I now weigh around 12 st. It looks quite a lot but I wear clothes in size 12/14.

I have done this for a few years and I go 'off piste' quite often. I have periods where I eat bread/chips etc but the following day, I get right back on it. It doesn't impact on my weight, however, I am not a daily weigher. The fluctuations don't derail me.

I have said this repeatedly on every bc, take measurements, try on clothes that are too tight because I went down full dress size when the scales only showed a loss of a few pounds.
Keep the faith and keep on keeping on.
