I love this week, because this is when all the naysayers and doubters realise that this WOE really works!

(... and those who've cheated realise that that really doesn't work Wink)

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to record your first loss

I missed most of this weekend as I have my very lovely SIL staying with us, prior to her leaving for a 6 month stint in Australia. So I haven't been able to be as glued to the laptop as I am usually.

Glad to hear that some of you have reported in good losses already - I'll look forward to hearing the rest today!

Good luck everyone, for this second week. Hopefully after a good first week you'll know it's worth it Flowers

C4. I am praying hard for you. KOKO you amazing woman. We have a date for that Great North Run and I have no intention of doing it without you.

I have a confession to make. Not been on the thread much as had a crazy week. Been a carby twat because I'm ill and feeling crap. Now I can add guilt to that too. Not putting my weight on the sheet until next week. Back to proper bc now. Onwards.

Spent all afternoon reading the thread only to find the horrible news about C4 going back to HDU again, and it sounding much worse this time. For those of you who don't "know" her, not that I and others do that well, but a small group of MNers have been supporting each other during and since last Boot camp. C4 has lots of paralysis due to spinal injuries, including two legs and an arm and most importantly her diaphragm which means she can't breathe properly unaided and has to spend a large part of each day and all night attached to a ventilator giving her oxygen at home. She has had a nasty lung infection for months and has been in and out of HDU several times recently, with several episodes of stopping breathing altogether. She frequently scares her family (and us) but this time seems much worse with talk of a tracheotomy (which she really doesn't want, hence the fuck off comment to the consultant, which made me smile) and the possibility of an enforced coma. I know she won't mind me summarising her situation here as she has shared all of this info openly. I just thought new bcers should appreciate how seriously ill she is. She says that her "normal health" is classed as critically ill. Yet she still finds energy to support and encourage the rest of us. She is truly inspiring and I hope she knows we are all rooting for her.

I'm looking forward to her getting better and back on the thread to kick my arse!!

I've enjoyed reading all the SVs and NSVs. Well done everyone. I've been lchf for a few months now so not expecting a big initial loss on this bc. Or any in fact since my sugar binge this week.

nekobus · 19/10/2017 22:26

Delurking to say thinking of you c4 hoping for good news tomorrow, thank you so much for updating us, C4s PA. #namastebitches

I didn’t lose anything in my first week, which then led to some carby twatdom yesterday, now now I’m caught up with the threads (took me a while you chatty lot!) there is so much good advice in here I’m determined to get back to basics tomorrow and not let this derail me. I like the thinking that the next 8 weeks will pass by whether I do this or not so I might as well give it a go Smile

Thiswillbemyusername · 19/10/2017 23:50

@BIWI well done for your NSV!

I did eat more than that I tend to post my breakfast in the morning so I can place-mark Halloween Grin

HarlotsWeb · 20/10/2017 06:43

Morning everyone. My morning exercise thing was cancelled (after I had got up at 4.30am to get there, and it is twenty mins too early to get into the office, so am having two MacDonalds sausage patties and a black coffee for breakfast to fill the time.

Well done on the skirt, biwi. I think my own sort of NSV is that it somehow feels a bit easier to get in and out of my car recently. Do you think that could be connected??

Rshard · 20/10/2017 06:58

Morning

Nice NSV biwi!

I think def connected harlot, I’ve definitely got spring in my step.

DD and I out for the day, I’m taking salad with tuna and feta to avoid temptation. Can’t stomach any yoghurt yet, so will have that for supper.

Wishing everyone a good day, especially c4

ChinchillaFur · 20/10/2017 07:15

Hoping we get some good news about C4 today. Have prayed for her.

My NSV is that I totally survived my 12 hour work day. My food all worked brilliantly and I didn't even eat all my nut stash. I am however exhausted today so am high alert for wanting to cheat! Still, last day today before half term yey! Meeting my friend at a coffee shop at 3pm today but I know they do black coffee with cream so I won't be tempted by the shortbread on the saucer trick!

Planning cauliflower cheese for tea I think. Maybe with a tuna steak lurking in the freezer. Or possibly fathead pizza. Getting a bit sick of salad so need to change it up a bit.

Going to attempt to try my 'good' jeans on tonight. Strangely I haven't lost any more weight on the scales but I feel loads slimmer and think I look it too, so hoping they will do up.

KOKO everyone. We have almost completed 2 weeks. Brilliant stuff.

Frigglet · 20/10/2017 07:16

Morning all. Bit of s funny day yesterday as o genuinely couldn’t remember if I had breakfast. It’s just so busy he me and children sorted for school and work. So yesterday I had:

B - nothing
L - beef on bed of cauliflower rice with mushrooms and grated cheese
D - cubed lamb with courgette spirals with creamy sauce
S - 2 pieces pork scratchings

Approx 2 litres water.

I need to up my water intake.
Luckily I’m not tempted by carbs and happliy say “no thanks” to sweets, pizza, cakes etc that are shared in office on daily basis.

Will probably try on a previously tight pair of jeans in a mo. If they go on, o may even wear then to work as Fridays are dress down days. Hope everyone has a good day.

Praying for C4 and her family & friends. 💐

HarlotsWeb · 20/10/2017 07:20

The water is almost the hardest bit, I think, frigglet. I react differently to food temptation on different days, but I always struggle with the water.

Frigglet · 20/10/2017 07:34

I agree with you Harlot and taking the little and often approach. Trying to have a plastic cup of water each hour while at work. Didn’t expect that water would be the bit I found toughest. I do find I can drink it if it’s ice cold, or boiled hot. So that helps.

OuaisMaisBon · 20/10/2017 07:34

Good morning, all - hope there is good news from C4's bedside this morning. Feels a bit wrong to detail my petty woes here after reading about her strength and courage in the face of her circumstances Sad

Anyhow, thank you for the enocouragement yesterday, I managed to keep off the chocolate and wine, but I am feeling downhearted as I am not losing anything at all (apart from my initial drop from my carb-fest weight the day before BC started) and as I said yesterday, am doing it right, apart from possibly too much dairy and mayo and maybe not enough water. Anyhow, I am not going to give up this time. Well, not today, anyway. I will do it for a whole month, even if I stay stalled. But I will need periodic pep talks, I'm afraid!
KOKO, everyone!

Frigglet · 20/10/2017 07:38

So, I just about got the jeans on, but they’re still too tight and will have to wait before I can wear them. Ah well, I think I’ve kept to boot camp really strictly, but not quite there yet. I’ll try them again in two weeks.

Oncewaswho · 20/10/2017 07:40

Morning all, thanks for exlaining about C4 Yolo, as a newbie I had been wondering. Sending all the very best to you C4. Half my keyboard doesn't work including return key and the letter before q in the alhabet, so excuse lack of letters and aragrahs. Water I am trying to combine activity with drinking so at work I am making myself go to the kitchen for a glass of water every hour. At home leaving a glass by the kitchen sink so every time I go in I have water. This weekend will be challenging, staying with the carb addict ILs.

StuntNun · 20/10/2017 07:43

Ouais this is a support thread for everyone so don't feel that your concern isn't important enough. We are all at different stages of our weight loss journey and we are all dealing with different issues whether they be mental, emotional or physical. Sometimes we need support to not eat the carbs but often we need support with the other stuff going on in our lives as well. List out a couple of days food and you'll get some advice. It's usually drink more water and eat more fat! How much weight have you actually lost so far? And is your TOTM due? I routinely gain at least two pounds when my period is due but it's all water.

SayrraT · 20/10/2017 07:48

If the jeans were less tight than last time then at least you know things are going in the right direction frigglet Grin

I've lost another lb so I'm delighted (even though it's just glycogen and water)!

blackteaplease · 20/10/2017 08:00

Morning all. I'm very disappointed to have gained 2 lbs overnight! My period is due and I've had a busy couple of days so the water has slipped. I'm hoping the gain is due to those factors and will go again.

OuaisMaisBon · 20/10/2017 08:02

Thank you, StuntNun, your words are much appreciated! I am way past menopause, so water retention because of the time of the month is not a possibility - though my love of salt on everything might be a factor, now I think about it.
Wednesday's food:
B: two hard-boiled eggs, mayo and curry powder. Seven Kalamata olives.
L: Roast chicken with skin on, pesto sauce, leafy green salad, mayo.
D: Keto Philly Cheesesteak casserole (reheated with extra mozzarella on top), cauliflower puree, 200 gms broccoli, leafy green salad, mayo.
Between 2 and 3 litres of water throughout the day.
Yesterday's food:
B: 3 egg and bacon muffins. Seven Kalamata olives.
L: Roast chicken with skin on, pesto sauce, leafy green salad, mayo.
D: Provencal fish soup with added mayo, chilli flakes and grated gruyere, leafy green salad, mayo.
Between 2 and 3 litres of water throughout the day.
Today:
B: 3 egg and bacon muffins, 7 Kalamata olives.
L: Avocado, prawns and salad, with mayo.
D: Probably: Provencal fish soup with added mayo, chilli flakes and grated gruyere, leafy green salad, mayo.
Trying to up the water intake.

One of my problems is that I have a bad back and ankle and though I love cooking, bending down to the oven, or standing doing preparation, makes my back much worse, and I am most comfortable lying down, or sitting in the driver's seat of our car (not driving, though because of my ankle and the accelerator!). I can't go swimming at the mo because of the back pain, though I know it would help my ankle and knees.
Pfft.

ilovecherries · 20/10/2017 08:10

Morning everyone. Some great NSVs! I've been out for my run and I'm finally firmly under 13 stone with a 5 day run at 12 something and today showing 12.12.

Thiswillbemyusername · 20/10/2017 08:11

@OuaisMaisBon all your food sounds very tasty. I really need to up my cooking game!

I have some curry powder so I'll try that in some devilled eggs this morning. I was all about the omelette when I first started but it's become less and less appealing as time goes on. My creamy coffees, on the other hand, have become better each day!

Hope C4 is okaySad

Hippadippadation · 20/10/2017 08:14

Morning everyone I have the c4 update as some kind person has reported A for using C4's social media even though she has full permission. Therefore mumsnet won't send her a password reset. Luckily C4 had my number as we've been trying to meet up for ages.

So she was comfortable overnight. Sometimes she inhales food when she eats, due to her condition. They drained her lungs and found a prawn and "what could only be gammeldags" (A's words, not mine Grin) and that was what was causing the infection. C4 is now responding to antibiotics and they may try and wake her later today if her lungs don't refill.

Keep her in your thoughts please oh good people of Bootcamp.

I've got a busy day today with the DDs, they want to go to soft play this morning and DD2 is going out with her friend this afternoon. I have to deep clean, tidy and make an apple and cinnamon cake as DH has invited his aunt and uncle round tomorrow for lunch. I can't believe it's the last day of half term already!

Food plan:
L - crudites, ham, pate, cream cheese
D - no idea, may go to the chippy and get a kebab meat and salad

Scabbersley · 20/10/2017 08:15

Feeling a bit pissed off that I seem to have gained a pound and a half overnight despite avoiding all obvious carbs yesterday PLUS not eating a single Krispy Kreme despite them being on a plate all evening (dds birthday). Grr.

ASDismynormality · 20/10/2017 08:17

Well done in the 12's ilove. Also to everyone else who have had some great NSVs.

My weight has stayed the same so far this week but that seems to be what happens to me between the middle to end of my cycle, frustrating but nothing I can do.
I'm getting myself really worked up over choosing a secondary school for my son (was fine when choosing schools for my DDs) so I think my anxiety has crept back up and I'm losing control of it. I really don't want to go back on to medication as that was a large part of my weight gain last time.

Gammeldragz · 20/10/2017 08:25

Hippa thanks for the update. Only c4 could get Gammeldag aspirational pneumonia! Sending love and best wishes.

I hit the 12 stone barrier today! Spot on it, so hoping to get into the 11s next week.

OuaisMaisBon · 20/10/2017 08:27

Hippadippadation - thank you so much for the C4 update. It's sounding like good news, hopefully. ( My mind boggles at A being reported. )
Wishing C4 a better day today.

Almahart · 20/10/2017 08:28

Had a good day yesterday

Scrambled eggs
Lamb curry and salad
Calves liver and salad for dinner - we went out for youngest's birthday to local Italian. Had one glass of red wine but am ok with that as we very rarely eat out
