I love this week, because this is when all the naysayers and doubters realise that this WOE really works!

(... and those who've cheated realise that that really doesn't work Wink)

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to record your first loss

I missed most of this weekend as I have my very lovely SIL staying with us, prior to her leaving for a 6 month stint in Australia. So I haven't been able to be as glued to the laptop as I am usually.

Glad to hear that some of you have reported in good losses already - I'll look forward to hearing the rest today!

Good luck everyone, for this second week. Hopefully after a good first week you'll know it's worth it Flowers

I'm very excited to be comfortably wearing size 18 jeans today when I had to sneak up to size 22 in May.

SayrraT · 20/10/2017 08:49

Thanks for the update hippa I'm Grin at the gammeldag. Keep us informed, did someone on the last BC not meet up with c4? Good job you two had exchanged numbers.

ragz well done, crossing my fingers that your next weigh in starts with 11.

At least sts isn't a gain ASD hope you can keep your anxiety in check. Post here if you need support, I'm sure someone will be around.

scabbersly focus on your NSV, if you'd had a Krispy Kreme who knows how many lbs it would be!

blacktea both those factors will definitely contributed.

ilove excellent new on reaching the 12s. Onwards and downwards Grin

FinallyHere · 20/10/2017 08:50

Thank you for the update , hippa, so glad you could be the conduit, do please send {{{{{hugs}}}}} , though given the state of C4's lungs, probably best that they remain virtual ones. And for the timely reminder from (sorry, the thread loves so fast that the posters name seems lost in the mists of time, ie yesterday) who reminded us to get on with the task in hand, of getting and giving support with this WOE (way of eating), and not get derailed by thinking our own troubles didn't deserve airtime.

gammeldags, incase anyone was wondering, were a form of pork scratching, which appeared a lot in the epic saga of the weekend-long celebrations around a danish wedding, as told by C4

OuaisMaisBon I'm loving the descriptions of your food. It's made me notice that I have got into a bit of a rut, food wise. Shall try harder, starting today.

KOKO everyone

maybeitsbecauseim · 20/10/2017 09:13

Keeping everything crossed for C4.

Have discovered a way of eating FF Greek yoghurt that I actually quite like - with liberal dose of salt and pepper stirred through. Has made my breakfast much easier. Though I am still very much looking forward to being allowed berries next week.

SayrraT · 20/10/2017 09:20

Salt and pepper Shock

ASDismynormality · 20/10/2017 09:23

may. I'm almost tempted to give that a go!

ASDismynormality · 20/10/2017 09:24

Thanks sayrra Flowers

Gammeldragz · 20/10/2017 09:25

maybe really?! Salt and pepper yogurt? I just can't imagine... Glad it's working for you though.

Scabbersley · 20/10/2017 09:31

cheese omelette for Breakfast
probably coffee and nothing else for lunch as we are at a sports thing and all food is pizza or burgers etc etc and can;t think of something convenient to take with me to eat

so need to plan a large dinner - thinking chicken breasts, spinach, cheese, cream

OuaisMaisBon · 20/10/2017 09:34

You're going to love it or hate it - I used to put Marmite in my yoghurt. Also - salt and pepper in yoghurt? Add garlic, cucumber, mint and olive oil and you have tsatziki. Nothimg wrong with that for breakfast!

OuaisMaisBon · 20/10/2017 09:34

*Nothing

DrDiva · 20/10/2017 09:39

Sending my thoughts to c4 too.

Due to a mad week I am not here much, but enjoying reading updates. Flowers for those struggling. I struggle with the water too, although it is getting marginally easier.

I am back to my usual weight of 10.5 stone. Would like to lose another half though!

Thiswillbemyusername · 20/10/2017 09:46

I quite like FF yoghurt on its own, but then again I can eat most things. I'm the complete opposite of a fussy eater

maybeitsbecauseim · 20/10/2017 09:46

Ouais - we are clearly on the same page when it comes to yoghurt! Like the sound of adding marmite but suspect it is probably too carby. Also keep meaning to make tzatziki but not managed to be sufficiently organised yet (mornings tend to be a bit of a rush out the door so need to do it the night before).

BIWI · 20/10/2017 10:06

@HarlotsWeb that sounds like a definite NSV to me!

@OuiMaisBon

Feels a bit wrong to detail my petty woes here after reading about her strength and courage in the face of her circumstances

Your woes are not petty ones. And - sad and concerning though C4's circumstances might be - this is the Bootcamp thread! It's here for us all to talk about low carbing and our daily struggles and victories - to support all of us and not just one poster.

Please don't worry about posting. I'm sure that C4 wouldn't be offended either.

And also, just to pick up on this comment:

though my love of salt on everything might be a factor

This is a good thing! If you're drinking all the water that you should be, then you'll need sodium, so salt is a positive.

(I love the fact that you choose 7, and only 7, olives each day Grin)

@blackteaplease your period will definitely affect your weight - and the general advice is to drink more water! So you do need to work on that!

@Scabbersley if you can't cope with your natural daily weight fluctuations, then I don't think you should be weighing daily. Honestly it won't help you. Try weighing only once a week, and you'll get a much more 'honest' view of your progress

probably coffee and nothing else for lunch as we are at a sports thing and all food is pizza or burgers etc etc and can;t think of something convenient to take with me to eat

This is potentially a dangerous idea. Why not take something like cheese? You can slice it into large chunks - or a pack of olives, or some sticks of celery to munch on? Or pre-cooked low carb sausages? There are plenty of options that will make sure you don't give in and have a pizza (just one slice won't harm me ...)

@maybeitsbecauseim I love the sound of salt and pepper yoghurt! I'm much more of a savoury person, and this definitely sounds worth trying. It's one of the reasons I sometimes add peanut butter to my yoghurt, as I like the saltiness. I also sometimes add a few Maldon salt crystals to it as well

For all those of you who are struggling with the water, please remember that it is really important. One thing that I find works is to buy a 2 litre bottle of Sainsbury's own sparkling water - it's less than 50p - and have it on my desk. I know that I have to drink at least half of that during the day, and then have more when I get home. Having it on my desk as a physical reminder works really well

BIWI · 20/10/2017 10:09

This is important, although it may sound harsh

I'm not surprised that C4's PA's post was reported. And if MNHQ have refused to allow a password re-set then that should alert us all to the fact that sometimes people are not what they may seem.

Having said that, I have no reason to believe that there is an issue, but MNHQ will know a lot more than we do.

Thanks for updating Hippa. C4 we’re rooting for you. Go girl. Flowers

Forgot to post food yesterday

L asparagus soup(hm) two boiled eggs mayo cherry toms cucumber
Dinner I had yogurt on my lamb curry. Cauliflower and broccoli.

I picked at left overs again last night. As a general rule I have my evening eating under control, encouraged by the fact that I then try to fast till lunch. Things are a bit hectic at the moment and I think it’s because I’m not being very mindful at my eating meal that the snacking is creeping in.

Scabbersley · 20/10/2017 10:17

thanks @BIWI

I feel absolutely sick and stuffed after the cheese omelette so think I'll be ok. Good idea about the cheese I will take it. Normally I chuck an apple and a banana in my bag!

I absolutely 110% promise I will not have pizza. If I can avoid krispy kremes on my daughters birthday I can avoid anything Grin

ponygirlcurtis · 20/10/2017 10:18

At the moment I am on track for another pound or so loss on Monday. However I have a double whammy this weekend - period due plus a long-planed overnight with my best friend that will involve 2 lunches and a dinner out. I have already had a look at one lunch menu and I think if I put together some starters and sides I will be OK, but one of the other lunches will be more a cafe, which from experience tells me that most stuff will be carb-based. Hoping for an all-day breakfast or something like that.

Scabbersley · 20/10/2017 10:20

And I need to watch my water. Have drunk approx 1.2l so far today, will take a bottle with another 300ml out with me, so by the afternoon that will be 1.5. Two more big glasses in the evening will be 2.3l.

blackteaplease · 20/10/2017 10:54

Thanks @Biwi. Wednesday I was on a site visit all day with no loos, yesterday I was in meetings all day again with limited loos. In those scenarios I tend to limit water intake and then run out of time in the evening to catch up.

Normally I am fine with the water and am back on it today.

Mimosa1 · 20/10/2017 11:02

Hi all,
Congratulations on the losses, and just sticking with the programme for those who haven't. I think I'm on track for a woosh this week (1.5kg so far but I only count mondays) and the ONLy thing I have changed is drinking more water. Biwi you should write a book!

Best to c4

Giraffeski · 20/10/2017 11:11

Breakfast this morning was six pieces of salami as in a rush to get out the door!
Going to have a bunkers burger from McDonalds at lunch as I'm out of the house all day.
Dinner will be an adapted shepherds pie with normal mash for everyone else and cauliflower mash for me. I m serving with broccoli and carrots and peas (latter two not for me!) on the side as I normally cook it with carrots and peas in it.

Now, quandry-
Dinner out with friends tomorrow night- they normally go to a great deal of effort as both DH and I are coeliac and DH is allergic to milk, so I am hoping I can just eat the bits that are BC friendly and not really mention it to them. They are both Chinese so they often cook something Asian which I will just have to make do with, although I figure I can just put some rice on the side of my plate and not eat it.
Importantly- I am 100% sure that I can do this (put the rice on plate and not eat) without actually eating it, otherwise I wouldn't try. I did it with roast potatoes at cynical ILs last week when we went for Sunday lunch so if I can resist a roastie I can def resist rice!
We normally take chocolates or similar when we go round- I might take a box of Green and Blacks chocolates and then I can have just one? If DH wasn't allergic to milk I'd take a cheeseboard :)

cathyandclare · 20/10/2017 11:17

Sending get well vibes to C4.

The cheesy-scone-type things are:

90g milled flaxseed
1.5 -2 tsp baking powder
30g grated cheese
3 eggs

Mix together, divide into 6 scone or patty shapes and put in hot oven until brown. If you don’t want a cheesy taste then philly works well too, I think it needs something to break up the flax as it’s quite dense and whole grainy

Week 2 - Low Carb Bootcamp - my favourite week!
BIWI · 20/10/2017 11:25

@Giraffeski

Dinner will be an adapted shepherds pie with normal mash for everyone else and cauliflower mash for me

Why not do the cauliflower mash for everyone? Not only does this save time, it also normalises low carb eating. And nothing wrong with cauliflower mash - it's lovely! Equally, there's a recipe on the Bootcamp recipe thread that uses celeriac mash. My personal favourite is celeriac and leek mash.

In terms of your quandary, they are good friends of yours and already do what they can to help out with your diet, so why not tell them what you're doing? Your reasons for doing low carb are totally valid, so I can't see that they'd object!
