I love this week, because this is when all the naysayers and doubters realise that this WOE really works!

(... and those who've cheated realise that that really doesn't work Wink)

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to record your first loss

I missed most of this weekend as I have my very lovely SIL staying with us, prior to her leaving for a 6 month stint in Australia. So I haven't been able to be as glued to the laptop as I am usually.

Glad to hear that some of you have reported in good losses already - I'll look forward to hearing the rest today!

Good luck everyone, for this second week. Hopefully after a good first week you'll know it's worth it Flowers

nut fluctuations are very normal, this picture shows me over the last 3 months - I can seemingly lose/gain 3lbs+ over night!

creme. I've had bullet proof coffee in the past but don't bother any more. Was good when I needed breakfast but didn't want any actual food. Now I just have black coffee in place of breakfast.

CremeDeSudo · 18/10/2017 16:13

@ASD is that daily?

ASDismynormality · 18/10/2017 16:15

creme. Yes it is, slightly obsessive....

CremeDeSudo · 18/10/2017 16:18

It's a good illustration though. An reassuring that there might be increases but overall the trend is down.

I know daily weighing is frowned upon but agree with someone else on the thread (could've been you?) who said they find it easier to accept daily fluctuations than weekly - I get thoroughly disheartened if the loss isn't enough after an entire week!

SoMuchToBits · 18/10/2017 16:22

Mimosa and Clear, I totally agree, there is huge societal pressure for us and our children to eat crap.

I just kind of accepted that my ds would have to eat rubbish at birthday parties etc, although he was eating much healthier meals at home. It's easier now he's a teenager, when the parties a few and far between, and sweets brought in for birthdays don't seem to be a thing any more.

It's strange though that if you tried to stop your child from eating e.g. cakes, sausage rolls etc at a party, most other mums would comment about how you were being mean to your child, not allowing him/her a treat, and generally give you a hard time about it.

It's seems messed up really, to think "My children deserve a treat, I know, let's give them something which will damage their health". And the same for ourselves really .

SoMuchToBits · 18/10/2017 16:26

Crème, Michael Mosley (in his Blood Sugar Diet book) says that daily weighing isn't a problem, and quotes a study which found that the people who weighed themselves more frequently on a weight loss programme lost more weight than those who weighed themselves less often.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 18/10/2017 16:26

Interesting. What is "enough" for you, Creme?

ASDismynormality · 18/10/2017 16:31

creme I seem to have a pattern of a new low weight and then bouncing up and back down towards it before reaching the new low again - if I weighed weekly I may just see periods of not losing any weight - by weighing daily I see the trend and also if it does go up a few times I really look at what I'm eating to see why. It keep me accountable but I fully understand why some people wouldn't like to weight daily or even weekly.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 18/10/2017 16:44

Grin

To be clear (pun intended), I'm not anti sweets, chocolate, etc. They taste nice enough.

Generally I don't like food that isn't real, at least I don't like it in abundance.

I don't like that children get dessert at school, expect dessert after dinner, expect cake or biscuits as an after school snack, and even breakfast becomes a pudding when it's basically a bowl full of sugared cereal.

I don't like that so many parents are time poor and don't have time to cook properly. These Bootcamp threads are notable for the "type" of person they attract--usually people who know how to cook properly and are willing and able to do so. (Also people who can afford this way of eating, which isn't cheap, but that's a whole other topic.)

I'm as guilty as the next mum of serving up processed crap for dinner when time-pressed or tired or disorganised.

Our society moves too quickly now. Cultures where previously it would have been unheard of to not sit down for a meal are now full of people eating as they walk down the street. It's not pretty. It's not sociable. It's not grateful. It's not healthy.

Meh.

What this has to do with LCHF, I don't know. Souza, all. Will think of an NSV to post, and be far more amusing soon. Maybe I'll even make time to fire up the ol' computer and upload some before/after photos that I promised on the first week!

'lo everyone, great to read how everyone is doing, 💐 and KOKO everyone.

Anyone enjoying mayonnaise and noticing how £££ the low carb ones can be, might like to look at the stick blender recipes for making your own. No more adding the oil drop by drop and stirring til your arm falls off.

Pretty foolproof (given I can make it) I tend to make it, and then keep it, in a small Kilmer jar. I have noticed that it only works with really fresh eggs which hold their shape when added to the bowl. Add anchovies for Caesar dressing, adding whatever in first, and the oil as the last ingredient. Enjoy.

p.s. Such a fast moving thread, brilliant support, thank you everyone.

And then here is the link, sorry 'bout dat

They probably learn quickly about normal fluctuations and accept them!

Here's a challenge for tomorrow (not everyone will be able to do this):

When you wake up, weigh yourself naked.

Do your toilet business, whatever it is, weigh again and notice if there's a difference.

Shower or bathe and weigh yourself again.

If you stay at home and don't eat breakfast, weigh yourself after an hour. Then maybe again after another hour. Always naked.

Then have lunch and weigh yourself again.

Weight fluctuates all the time, all day long.

SoMuchToBits · 18/10/2017 16:55

Yes, Clear, I agree with you on much of what you say. Especially that it's hard for many people to follow a LCHF diet, as it isn't cheap. It makes me quite annoyed that the cheapest foods to buy are usually the processed refined carbs.

I'm enjoying a nice glass of sparkling water with a slice of lime.

Lunch was prawn and avocado salad, dinner will be salmon with mushrooms and a cheesy cream sauce (basically cream heated up and grated cheese melted in) with some green beans.

CremeDeSudo · 18/10/2017 16:57

@Clear Well first week I was hoping for at least 2lb. I lost 1.5lb and that's what I logged on the Spreadsheet. I weighed again yesterday and I'd lost another 0.75lb but it was a day too late to be logged. I felt really demotivated on Monday given everyone elses fantastic losses but that .75 cheered me right up. If I'd waited 'til next Mon I'd have spent all week a bit dejected despite the NSV's I've had. I wouldn't cheat, but was disappointed. I'm hoping for 2lb next week too, so fingers crossed! I think I might start daily weighing and logging too..

SoMuchToBits · 18/10/2017 16:57

Haha, Clear, I could be taking my clothes on and off all day tomorrow! Grin

dataandspot · 18/10/2017 16:58

Cathyandclare

Can I have the proportions for your cheese scone recipe?

Thankyou

CremeDeSudo · 18/10/2017 17:01

I always weigh post toilet and naked!! Grin

prettybird · 18/10/2017 17:07

Ditto Wink

cathyandclare · 18/10/2017 17:10

dataspot I always just splosh a bit of whatever in but I will measure tomorrow morning and let you know :)

ClearEyesFullHearts · 18/10/2017 17:34

FinallyHere loved the video. My mum used to make mayonnaise all the time when I was growing up in France but you're right--these days it's so easy with a stick blender. I need to stop giving Hellman's my money. AngryWink

SoMuch Be sure to shut the curtains first. (Your lunch sounds lush.)

Creme I get it, but who cares how much others lose. Comparison is the thief of joy. Anything that is less than the previous week is a victory. Oh, and I weigh pretty much daily unless I forget. It can really work for some, it does for me.

Weighing daily--last weekend I woke up at 7.00 and weighed, went back to bed for a couple of hours then weighed again. I "gained" three pounds from lying down. Hmm

During the last Bootcamp I famously in my mind gained a pound after a pre-poo weigh in and a post-poo weigh in. Seriously. I gained a pound in about two minutes.

Do not pay attention to normal fluctuation

FinallyHere · 18/10/2017 17:52

ClearEyes "gained" three pounds from lying down"

That would be the universe warning you against lying downConfused

ClearEyesFullHearts · 18/10/2017 18:04

Fair enough, but a girl's gotta sleep!

CremeDeSudo · 18/10/2017 18:12

Thank you for the reality check Clear!

Gammeldragz · 18/10/2017 18:48

I think it was me saying that I find daily weight fluctuations easier than weekly weighing. I also find I lose more when I weigh daily as I'm more accountable and less likely to cheat. If I have a cheat meal/day it shows in a gain of several pounds the next day and I don't like that (spot them in the graph lol) so I'm less likely to cheat than if I had a week to make up for it. But if I known I've been on track and still gain I just accept it as I known it will be down again the next day. I rarely go up two days in a row.

Dinner was meatballs baked in pesto and mozzarella with fried kale.
