I love this week, because this is when all the naysayers and doubters realise that this WOE really works!

(... and those who've cheated realise that that really doesn't work Wink)

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to record your first loss

I missed most of this weekend as I have my very lovely SIL staying with us, prior to her leaving for a 6 month stint in Australia. So I haven't been able to be as glued to the laptop as I am usually.

Glad to hear that some of you have reported in good losses already - I'll look forward to hearing the rest today!

Good luck everyone, for this second week. Hopefully after a good first week you'll know it's worth it Flowers

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 17/10/2017 19:32

Sorry that you are having a tough day blacktea I hope thing look up for you tomorrow Flowers

I've also had a bit of a blip today- caved at lunch and had a Diet Coke. Not ideal but not the worst I suppose.

B-pate, cream cheese and celery
L- pork stir fry
D- will be cauliflower cheese, maybe with salad if I can be arsed!

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 17/10/2017 19:38

Also scabbersley I really enjoyed the little journey you took us on today! I can also recommend slim-a-tea for the loo issues but it sounds like you're sorted now!

Scabbersley · 17/10/2017 19:39

TimbuktuTimbuktu Grin

yes, very much sorted Shock

SharkSkinThing · 17/10/2017 19:47

Can I join in week 2, please?

Had meant to start last week but it was week 1 of my PhD and a lot of wine was needed to get over the shock!

I'll weigh in the morning but I'm stocked up and ready to go!

🌞

Frigglet · 17/10/2017 20:13

Hello hello, I didn’t check back in yesterday, but had a good one.

Today’s been another good day for me. I think I’m motivated by my shock loss.

B- none, as running late
L - courgette spirals, pork belly, cheese, big dollop of mayo
D - chicken thigh on bed of spinach with salad and mushrooms 🍄

ilovecherries · 17/10/2017 20:15

I have finally popped my celeriac cherry. Shock It's a vegetable I took against as a kid and got so hysterical when I saw it that my tantrum has become part of family lore, and my dad mentioned it in his father-of-the-bride speech. Blush. Apparently I thought it had escaped from Dr Who (the first time round). I couldn't actually bring myself to handle it tonight (is celeriac phobia actually a thing?) but after it was peeled a sliced into chips by DH I was able to make chilli chips. And very nice they were Grin

Frigglet · 17/10/2017 20:15

Thanks for all the stories and support. I’m learning lots, which should keep me going. 🥑🥒🍖🍗

ClearEyesFullHearts · 17/10/2017 20:16

Welcome Sharkskin, nice to have you and enjoy the food!

blacktea Flowers. I have also lost my mother and fully understand why you're feeling emotional.

The one thing I would say is that I'm guessing your mother would want you to take care of yourself (that's what I would want for my daughter) and to do what needs to be done to get healthy. Obviously it's your decision, but you know you don't really need cake to celebrate your child's birthday, right? I wouldn't tell a non-drinker to have champagne for my birthday and I wouldn't tell a sugar-avoider to eat cake. Celebrations can be done in so many other ways.

ilove on the subject of not having decided what to do after your dry year, I'm halfway through a book about drinking. I see so many on here who have turned to alcohol in the first week, more than once, and this bookwhile not particularly well-written or scientificputs together a clear and energetic case for not drinking alcohol. It's a very easy read if anyone is interested. It doesn't judge or dictate, just makes a case for not drinking alcohol. Very similar to the Allen Carr book about smoking in its tone.

I guess what I'd say to you is that you don't really need a plan or decision, do you? You've found it easy enough for a year and it's working for you to avoid alcohol so who knows what happens next?

The book talks about FEAR and specifically the fear of giving up something we rely on. In this case it's alcohol, but Carr wrote about nicotine, and I believe this can be extended to carbohydrates, specifically sugar.

I believe many of us "cheat" on this way of eating partly because we are afraid someone will tell us we can't ever have sugar again.

Ramblingly yours Hmm,

Clear

Shark, come on in!

SharkSkinThing · 17/10/2017 20:24

I'm in! Thanks Clear and Cherries.

Re logging on the spreadsheet - can I do this myself or is it locked? I'm planning to weight tomorrow then join the next offical weigh in on 25/10? Is that how it works?

Thanks.

ilovecherries · 17/10/2017 20:25

Yes, you're absolutely right, Clear. Interestingly it's other people who are saying things like 'on the countdown now!' And 'guess it's going to be one big party at your house over New Year' and someone else said they were going to order us a wine case for Xmas so we are primed and ready to go on the 31st - and we suddenly realised that somewhere over the last year alcohol free living has just become normal for us. We don't really think about it, but suddenly it feels like everyone is monitoring us and willing us to restart.

ilovecherries · 17/10/2017 20:27

*do it yourself if you can - add yourself to the end. The units are pounds. And whatever you do, don't touch the blue cells ;).

BrassicaBabe · 17/10/2017 20:37

Can someone share with me their celeriac chips recipe?

Two NSVs for me today. Guy at work said I looked "trim". High praise indeed from this chap. Canteen lady asked "if I was loosing weight again". Choose to ignore the "again" reference Grin

SayrraT · 17/10/2017 20:41

Welcome shark, what's your PhD on?

I'm finally back in my own house for a bit, I've been house sitting and at a conference then house sitting again next week. It's nice to be home! I'd forgotten what OH looked like Grin

ponygirlcurtis · 17/10/2017 20:44

Brassica I used the one that's in the Bootcamp recipe thread.

I am doing moussaka tonight. I enjoy watching Bake Off (have it paused), I watch it enjoying my dinner and feeling pleasantly full but not as uncomfortably stuffed and ridiculously head-buzzy as I would be if I ate the cakes. Smile

CarbyDiem · 17/10/2017 20:46

Evening all.
I managed to leave my lunchbox at home this morning so today’s Friday kid has been somewhat odd. Work restaraunt hasn’t quite got the hang of hflc.

B. Creamy coffee
L. (This is the odd bit). 2 HB eggs, olives, a pot of tuna may and a pot of sadly low fat cheese.
S. Coffee with cream from Costa
D. Moussaka, broccoli, spinach.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 17/10/2017 20:49

Interestingly it's other people who are saying things like 'on the countdown now!'

Because most people drink alcohol unless they have religious reasons, or with AA, or are children.

They can't understand people who don't drink. They feel alcohol is a necessary part of life.

Indeed it's the most socially acceptable drug out there, I think.

I know more people who avoid Calpol than I do people who avoid alcohol. Confused

HarlotsWeb · 17/10/2017 20:49

B creamy coffee
L beef burger with salad in lots of olive oil
S olives
D broccoli, bean sprout and baby sweetcorn stir fry

Still feeling hungry so not sure I got today quite right.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 17/10/2017 20:50

By the way, I drink alcohol and even if I didn't would in no way judge others who do.

That's not what this is about. Just musing...Wink

Scabbersley · 17/10/2017 20:53

I'm convinced I've put weight back on Sad I seem to have been eating loads. I don't think I've cheated apart from milk. Maybe I need to cut that out.

RaininSummer · 17/10/2017 20:53

Ilove... celeriac or the Ood? Mine looked just like that this week.

RaininSummer · 17/10/2017 20:55

I am being a gannet this week. A low carb gannet but such a piggy I doubt any weight has been lost. I have always struggled in Autumn and Winter. Also finding it very hard to drink all my water.

ilovecherries · 17/10/2017 20:58

Oh god, Rain, that was my childhood nightmare! And I really couldn't bring myself to touch it tonight. I did buy it, but it bothered me all the way home, till I got it enclosed in one of those Lakeland vegetable bags. I think now I realise how tasty it is I will be braver next time.

blackteaplease · 17/10/2017 21:08

OK. I've decided to make a fairly small cake so there won't be tempting leftovers and to serve it with berries and dark chocolate. We will be on BC lite by then.

You are all right, e acting cake doesn't equal love and my kids probably won't notice me not eating any.

Anyway, I'm feeling stronger this evening and am busy planning my pack up for tomorrow. I'll be out on the coast surveying for approx 4 hrs in the cold so am taking tasty things to eat to get me through.
