I love this week, because this is when all the naysayers and doubters realise that this WOE really works!

(... and those who've cheated realise that that really doesn't work Wink)

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to record your first loss

I missed most of this weekend as I have my very lovely SIL staying with us, prior to her leaving for a 6 month stint in Australia. So I haven't been able to be as glued to the laptop as I am usually.

Glad to hear that some of you have reported in good losses already - I'll look forward to hearing the rest today!

Good luck everyone, for this second week. Hopefully after a good first week you'll know it's worth it Flowers

Thanks, cherries.

SarryaT, I'm in the social sciences and it's based around women's participation in sport.

Veryflummoxed · 17/10/2017 21:45

Food for me today
(Late) breakfast. Left over beef and veg stir fry
Lunch. Two cups home made asparagus soup
Dinner. Roast lamb, sprouts, mange-tout, roast shallot, mushroom.
I’m actually feeling a little peckish now but I’m in bed so there’s no danger of me getting out and eating.

SayrraT · 17/10/2017 21:48

shark one of the PhD students in my group is doing a interdisciplinary project and part is social science (farmer attitudes to bio-security). Her last presentation was really interesting, I admit that previously I thought that social science was a bit 'fluffy' but her work has changed my mind.

The why's of people's behaviour are very interesting.

Good luck, hope you enjoy it Smile

Today:
B fasting
L bacon & mushroom omlette
D salmon, roasted pumpkin, leeks & broccoli

Baked a chocolate fudge cake today and managed to resist licking the bowl, but did have one bite of the trimmings to check it tasted ok! It was nice, but didn't feel the need to have anymore which is an achievement for me, usually after making cakes I feel sick because of all the cake mix/icing/trimmed off cake I have eaten!

SharkSkinThing · 17/10/2017 21:56

Thanks, SayrraT! I can assure you there's nothing fluffy about this research! The topic your friend is doing sounds fascinating.

😀

FurryTurnip · 17/10/2017 22:01

Day 2 for me, feeling quite tired and headachy....but still on track (despite a pack of hot cross buns in the kitchen)

B: 2 fried eggs and avocado
L: cauli rice with mushrooms, courgette and spinach in a creamy stilton sauce
S: boiled egg and a few almonds (allowed for veggies!)
D: saag paneer and cauli rice

TheMonkeysOnTheTable · 17/10/2017 22:07

Thanks to everyone who spoke to me about alcohol. I'm definitely happy to cut down on drink but I don't think I want to give it up completely. Maybe I should read ClearEyes book. In the meantime I'll stick to wine and vodka sodas in moderation as a weekend treat. I'll watch the weight loss though (obviously! That's why I'm here...) and reassess if necessary.

Almahart · 17/10/2017 22:08

NSV 1 went to yoga for second week

NSV 2 when I got back DH had a bottle of wine on the go and I wasn't remotely tempted!

Also made a delicious moussaka and bunged loads in the freeezer, do a good day diet wise

C4rollinandventing · 17/10/2017 22:48

Harlot I am known for delivering the truth when it comes to falling off the wagon, I coined the phrase "carby twat" on the last bootcamp and I'm very pleased it's resurfaced here, carby twat of the week is newGrin
If we'd had it on the previous threads I definitely would have won it once or twice.

Sharkskin welcome, now I know why my daughter wasn't very communicative last week, she's just started a Chemistry PhD and was probably consuming large quantities of wine.

Furryturnip it sounds as if you need to drink more water, it should get rid of the headache. Love the name by the way

Lola the puppy has the squits - I just had to wipe her bum with a baby wipe, I couldn't contemplate the thought of her licking it!!!!!!!

thedayismine · 17/10/2017 22:58

Just swooping in before bed to share my day ...
DH weighed this morning and is 5 lbs down which is great ( especially as he goes off piste when not with me !)
So then I couldn't resist and am 3lbs down ( which makes 5 so far as I started a bit early)

NSV - I couldn't finish dinner last night and today I have just felt hungry at meal times never ravenous .
NSV - I bought a pair of black skinny jeans and a jersey shirt for a night out at the weekend - the lady in the shop made me size down ready for further weight loss and I feel really confident I will be losing more weight and the jeans will look much better soon! Just felt like I am finding my mojo a bit more already .
Blacktea glad to hear you are feeling better . It's not easy and as everyone else was saying the emotional ties to food can be very powerful.

Enjoying reading the updates sorry if I am not keeping up too well !

GeneandFred · 17/10/2017 23:30

Hi all,

Coming up to day 3 for me. I started on Monday gone as I was away. Going ok so far. Struggling a bit with not eating Crisps. Anyone got any ideas?

Also I've cut out milk from my tea after checking the carb level. Can I use soy milk in tea instead? Been having herbal tea instead but need a cup of Yorkshire in the morning!

ClearEyesFullHearts · 18/10/2017 01:10

GeneandFred try pork crunch or pork scratchings for the texture of crisps.

Monkeys the alcohol is something I struggle with. I keep questioning why.

Definitely not a sugar 'addict'snd can live without most obvious carbspotato, pasta, rice, grainshappy to get carbs through vegetables.

Why do so many of us fail with cakes and booze?

Genuine question. And I do t think it's a coincidence that these are both celebratory offerings.

No one ever blew out the candles on a potato. Hmm

ClearEyesFullHearts · 18/10/2017 01:11

*don't !

AdiosPieceOfToast · 18/10/2017 01:34

I’m ashamed to say that I lost it for three days after having my pet put unexpectedly to sleep. Trying to find my way back and if I’ll be able to at this point Blush 🙁

ChinchillaFur · 18/10/2017 06:33

Adios don't be ashamed. Having your pet pts is traumatic and I reckon it's normal to crave your old comfort foods. If we were in week 4 you might have resisted better. Just aim for a really good day 1 today xx

Clear your question is interesting. Both cake and alcohol are eaten/drunk more for emotional reasons than hunger. So much of what we consume is not to fill our bellies but is filling a different gap - grief, boredom, stress, sadness even happiness. I definitely need to retrain my brain.

Rshard · 18/10/2017 06:57

clear with me cake and alcohol is more a reward; getting to the weekend, having a rubbish day st work and on previous diets - a treat after losing. Or gaining!

adios Flowers could focussing on this woe be a small distraction from your sadness?

B - buttery scrambled eggs, avo, salmon
L - spinach rocket lettuce cucumber mayo 2 egg muffins
D - not sure. Will check the thread later for some inspiration.

Oncewaswho · 18/10/2017 06:58

I've totally fallen off the wagon since Sunday after a good first week. In the last three days I have succombed to bread and rice. Back to it today.

C4rollinandventing · 18/10/2017 07:00

Adios so sorry to hear about your pet Flowers koko because you deserve it, but when you're ready and in the meantime please be kind to yourself.

SayrraT · 18/10/2017 07:06

Aww adios so sorry to hear that Flowers

I am now back in my house so I will finally now be able to brave the scales....not sure that I want to.

Good luck to your daughter with her PhD as well c4. I hate to disappoint you but "carby twats" have been been around for a while Grin I'm sure I remember them from my first BC.

I think I need to start recording food as I haven't been and it helps keep me on track.

cleareyes I am actually laughing at the though of someone blowing out candles on a potato Grin

What's the carb count of the soy milk gene

Well done on all of the NSV Flowers

starsky22 · 18/10/2017 07:09

adios I'm so sorry to hear about your pet Flowers. You can definitely get back on it, just commit to eating low carb today and take it one day at a time.

I am having a lot of thoughts about cake at the moment, we've doing a bake off in work today, so there will be a lot of cake in the office and I'll feel obliged to have some in order to vote for the winner, plus its for charity. Although i csn obviousky still donate without eating cake, but it's about joining in with the fun. We're also celebrating something, so they'll be sandwiches/nibbles and champagne. Hmmm, not sure what to do.

Oncewaswho · 18/10/2017 07:23

I'm sorry Adios, I hadn't RTFT and missed your ost Flowers

ClearEyesFullHearts · 18/10/2017 07:42

Hmmm, not sure what to do.

I am. Don't eat the cake and sandwiches, don't drink the champagne.

That's what to do. Confused

Veryflummoxed · 18/10/2017 07:51

(despite a pack of hot cross buns in the kitchen)
I had to do a quick mental check on the time of year Grin

* Struggling a bit with not eating Crisps. Anyone got any ideas?*

Pork scratchings and exploding baby bel. Cut a babybel in four, put separately in scilicone muffin tray in microwave. Mine do perfectly in one minute eighty seconds. It will probably take a bit of tinkering with though. I’d advise starting lower (130secs?) and then going up ten seconds at a time. If it’s soft (after cooling for a second or two) it’s under done. If it’s gone brown it’s over done. Should be crisp and light. You can do this with just about any hard cheese, I’ve done Stilton, cheddar and Parmesan. Can also be done on baking parchment in the oven.

Not caught up yet put posting so I don’t loose post.

SayrraT · 18/10/2017 07:52

I've weighed in and I'm 10lbs heavier than I was at the end of the last BC. Why do I do this to myself?

ilovecherries · 18/10/2017 08:07

Starsky - don't do it. I think one of my biggest take-ways (no pun intended!) from 2017 is that I can't/won't eat or drink to either please other people or to blend in. I have to want health more than I want to put something that will stall me into my mouth.

Adios, that's tough about your pet. If you feel up to it now, just start day 1 again today and repeat the first two weeks.

My NSV this morning was to go for a run (yes, I know :)!). For the first time since I had my accident 10 years ago I ran more than I walked. I'm on week 3 of Run Your First Mile and I did 90/60 intervals. While I know it's possible to be fit at any size, personally my pinned and wasted leg wasn't capable of running with 16 stone bearing down on it. Those three stone off are def making themselves felt now.
