Zammo there's no way I'm posting on that thread, haha!

C4 - happy Lola day and congratulations on getting back home (and away from the flashers from Pervy old lady Grin )

This - welcome.

I have lost 3.1kg on SSS despite falling off the wagon a couple few times. Interesting discussion on why that is. For me, it's not stress per se, it's more to do with embarrassment about saying "I'm on a diet" to people, and can they accommodate me when we're being hosted. In my mind, I somehow think that's going to trigger an assessment from others "oh yes, she is overweight" and/or have friends or family say kindly "you don't need to lose weight" even though Im far from a healthy BMI - I just don't want to draw attention to it either way.
It's tied up with an insidious belief that relaxed, confident women eat whatever they want whenever, so I'm trying to reframe it as making healthy choices. I find this particularly tricky though when I'm someone's guest and they've prepared a meal, but trouble is, it never ends up being one cheat meal, but triggers a few days of carbytwatness. I'm back on the wagon now though (love a PP's ref to the American west) and feeling good about the next bootcamp.

ilovecherries · 01/10/2017 20:13

I had a small (but HUGE to me) NSV tonight. Before I got fat I used to run. But that was 25 years, pre-accident and five stone ago. I've been walking a lot and had promised myself that once I hit 12.13 I would try trotting. Well, I'm still a couple of lbs off that but suddenly just thought 'right, first of the month, let's do this'. So off I went. And I trotted half a mile. Which is hardly a marathon, but I was SO chuffed with myself. AND my running tights are a 14 ;).

Lenl · 01/10/2017 20:18

That's fantastic ilovecherries!
I also used to run. Would like to get back into it. I used to actually enjoy it and feel sad I let that go.

Half a mile isn't to be sniffed at either! I'd happy with 100m right now haha. Well done! Flowers

FinallyHere · 01/10/2017 20:28

... with lots of fat, I hope? BIWI 75ml extra virgin and 25ml apple cider vinegar, got it covered ok

FinallyHere · 01/10/2017 20:33

Eeekkk, well done ilovecherries. Trotting, indeed : - )

Welcome everyone new, and newly posting on this thread. xx

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 01/10/2017 20:55

Sorry I’ve not been around for a few days - busy sourcing stuff like flooring and fires for our extension- fire for our living room as the one we’ve got from when we moved in 8 months ago was recently condemned by the gas man.
C4 great news - looking forward to pics of Lola and Alfie
Well done everyone.

Ive also kept to my SSS - I decided I was going to do it - like I did the Woe - it’s all or nothing - last chance saloon. I’ve jumped off the wagon on previous diets etc and I’ve been pathetic, but not this one. I don’t quite know what’s kept me on the straight and narrow apart from sheer stubbornness. I’ve read quite a few books that have helped my thinking - I found Gillian Riley’s eating less and ditching the diets useful (although I lost nothing on her programme!!) and somewhere I read about asking yourself what worked about all the diets you’ve ever done and what didn’t work, and why things worked or didn’t.

I’m almost 12 stone. I’ve been doing 16:8 about 5 days in 7. I’ve even started realising the times when II want to eat just because it’s 4 oc and I’ve always had a snack whether I’m hungry or not at 4oclock like pavlov’s dog. So I’ve stopped doing it if I’m not hungry

HippadoppaloppaGammeldag · 01/10/2017 21:06

ilove that's a brilliant NSV. You'll soon be on the half marathons Grin

Good to know SSS worked for some others as well. I feel like it's given me a real "reset" and my head is properly in the zone now.

Gammeldragz · 01/10/2017 21:21

hippa well done being sticking to SSS.
Mimosa excellent SSS loss!
ilovecherries wow, well done on the trotting! I did c25k, ran a 5k, then never went running again! Nice to be able to though, it isn't easy.

I stuck to most of my SSS rules. Have lost 3lb, so not bad at my stage in the game.

Not long until new bootcamp! How much is everyone hoping to lose? I'd like 5lb in 10 weeks?

ilovecherries · 01/10/2017 21:26

I'm still losing about a lb a week, so I'd love to lose 12lb between now and Christmas.

ASDismynormality · 01/10/2017 21:32

ilove. That's a fabulous NSV.

I would love to get into the 13's by the end of bootcamp, so about a stone. Realistically I going to be happy with any loss as it's really slowing down now. A great NSV would be fitting into some size 14 trousers Inhave comfortably, I can just do them up but it's not a pretty sight!

littlebillie · 01/10/2017 21:37

I wasn't SSS but back on boot camp 7lbs to go Grin

FinallyHere · 01/10/2017 21:57

Hi NOMORE I'm another fan of Gill Riley's work. Whenever I 'do the work' i find her ideas around choice that pop into my head. I was very pleased to read much about HFLC on her website more recently.

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 01/10/2017 22:09

Hi Finally I’m the same - Gillian Riley’s stuff about choice is stuck in my brain. I like the times and plans and the outline too it’s so simple and make such sense - I’ve read her books over and over but I can’t seem to lose much weight with it - it must be helping me on this woe though. I’ve not seen what she wrote about LCHF yet. I’ll look for it

twinkledag · 01/10/2017 22:09

Welcome this.

Excellent NSV cherries.

Hello to everyone else, well done to everyone who deserves it and an encouraging kick up the backside to everyone who needs it - including me!

Major disaster in Twinkle Towers this weekend... the fridge broke!! So I now have a tiny fridge which holds about 1/3 of what it used to while we wait for a new fridge arrrggggh. And it's Sod's law that it broke the day after I did a £100 food shop...

Anyone done this WOE without decent fridge storage?

Spent most of my weekend cooking all the meat in the freezer that had defrosted 🤦‍♀️

Looking forward to bootcamp starting next week, I really need it!

Tomorrow's menu -

Eggs
Salad
Chicken Thai green curry

starsky22 · 01/10/2017 22:17

Evening all, well done to those who stuck to SSS, I started on 11th Sept after my week away and stuck to no alcohol and BC lite apart from a few bites of carby things here and there. I lost 6 lbs in Sept, so very pleased!

C4 Woohoo to going home and to Lola arriving, looking forward to seeing pics!

Cider Glad you are still with us and are feeling better, I know others feel better on a slightly higher amount of carbs e.g more veg so worth experimenting on what works for you, we are all different after all!

BIWI I was in London this week and went to Leon, they had a 'no carb' option - naked chicken burger with satay sauce, coleslaw and rocket, it was yum, it's obviously not no carb and was a bit worried about the satay sauce, but much better than most options at fast food places.

Welcome this and lily

I fasted this morning and then had fathead pizza for lunch, toppings were mushrooms, spinach, ham and pepperoni and 1 slice of garlic bread and was so full that I haven't needed dinner! Considering whether to have breakfast tomorrow or see how long I can fast for!

HippadoppaloppaGammeldag · 01/10/2017 22:40

I'd like 1lb a week in time for xmas.

I keep hearing about Gill Riley, what is it?

Llareggub · 01/10/2017 23:15

Well my SSS results are in: i started on 94.7kg and I am now 88kg. Chuffed. I measured my visceral fat today at the gym and was amazed to find it was 9 and in the green category. I can't believe it is correct but the trainer assured me it is.

Next goal: 82kg.

Moanranger · 02/10/2017 00:22

I had a great brunch today. This was planned for awhile & was super-easy to achieve. Mimosa take note -LC & treats are not mutually exclusive. I went with a group to Cote who I find to be really accommodating. Had a glass of Blanc de Blanc, eggs florentine, hold the muffin, and a noisette coffee. Just told the group I was LC-ing- no one commented. So tasty, & not heavy & I love hollandaise but it's not something you make at home.
Agree re G Riley - very insightful, but I find that psychological approaches don't really shift the weight, only a strict eating plan does that.
WI tomorrow.

HippadoppaloppaGammeldag · 02/10/2017 06:33

Well done Llareggub (only just realised what your username is! Grin)

Today I will mostly be at the park with DD2 before going to work.

Food plan:
L - eggs, avocado, salad
D - homemade broccoli & stilton soup

C4 hope all was ok with Lola, send us some pics please!

Happy Monday everyone!

MOIST · 02/10/2017 08:04

Right. It is October. I am back on it. No more bloody cheating. Can't weigh as scales are broken but I was getting a bit weird and obsessive about it. So I'm off shopping instead. Stock up on decent food. Stop making excuses and drinking too much.

ilovecherries · 02/10/2017 08:30

My goals for the last quarter of the year are to lose another stone and be able to run/walk (mostly run) a 5K. Kids will be home for Xmas so everyone has already been warned that on Sat 30 December, we will be having a family outing to the local park run. At the moment, the first feels more achievable than the second, but I'm determined that it's time to add some proper exercise into this. If 2017 was the year of weight loss, 2018 will be the year of fitness.

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 02/10/2017 08:57

Bad night for me last night. B”””dy insomnia!!! No idea why. Sometimes it can be that something I are with sugar or msg in it but I’ve not had any of these since I started this woe

Does anyone know what exercises can I do to firm up my flabby arms. I dislocated my shoulder in March and couldn’t move it much while it healed and my arm muscles looks really saggy now. I’m embarrassed about them

StuntNun · 02/10/2017 09:50

NOMORE I found the 30-Day Shred brilliant for toning up my bingo wings arms.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 02/10/2017 10:05

Had a lovely weekend, even if I was in the office all day Sat. But I took yesterday off in the main and sat and read. All day. Of course, DP came back when I was about 20 pages from the end of my book so I ignored him for a wee while, but all was good.

Think I may have eaten too much cheese on Sat - a whole mozzarella and a whole halloumi, but they were both wonderful. Annoyingly, the only vaguely roast thing in the freezer was a Caribbean chicken thing that had a very sweet coating, but I gave most of the sauce to DP and didn't eat the chicken skin so it wasn't too bad.

DP still hasn't got the hang of low carb! He picked up yoghurts for me - both 0% fat, and some protein bars from Lidl. He's getting me some double cream for the yoghurt today, though, and the protein bars aren't too bad, so I will eat them. He is doing his best!
