Public Service Announcement

Anyone interested in HofC , there is now a 'house of colour summers' group, hoping someone is going to ask some questions or post anything of interest to summers.

Think it might have been ilovecherries , but anyone and everyone welcome.

Im already part of the 'house of colour autumns' group...sure there is one for Spring too.

[as you were]

StuntNun · 25/09/2017 20:12

Maybe we could have a second thread just for logging food and save the main thread for chat?

YoLoGammelZammoDag · 25/09/2017 20:28

Gah I lost an epic post. Angry all my posts are epic and by epic I mean long winded not of legend

FinallyHere · 25/09/2017 20:35

I feel your pain, YoLo, isn't it tedious when that happens...

ilovecherries · 25/09/2017 20:48

Oh, is that on FB, *finally?' I did ask on S&B but didn't get a big response.

FinallyHere · 25/09/2017 21:07

Yes, ilovecherries, I asked on the autumns thread on Facebook, and lo and behold, a summers group has appeared. I'm sure they would be glad to see any posts, with questions especially welcome. Enjoy.

HippadoppaloppaGammeldag · 25/09/2017 21:31

Stunt like a food diary thread?

Mimosa1 · 25/09/2017 23:00

Stunt Obviously totally up to you, but I enjoy reading about what people are eating on the "main" thread as it gives me ideas about what to cook l, so I'd encourage you to keep posting here.

I've been having some carb creep - dark chocolate and raspberries for desert but all things considered not bad at a catered evening thing tonight (salmon and and potatoes, left the latter) with some lovely buffalo mozzarella as a starter.

I had brisket for lunch which was v salty and interestingly I kept thinking I was Hungry after but knew it must be thirst and Lo and behold the feeling went away after some water.

Back home now for a while so back in control of what I eat.

Weigh in tomorrow am to see how I've fared on holiday ...

starsky22 · 25/09/2017 23:14

Thanks cider and cleareyes, I'm going to koko and hopefully my wobbly tummy will pissrightoff!

clear sorry to hear you are feeling low, but glad that you are back on track with lchf, I always feel much better when I am in control and have a plan!

cider how long have you stuck to BC and I mean really stick to it? It took me a good 3/4 weeks of low carb to get past the feeling rubbish phase and the carb cravings and then I started to find it easy, but after my carby weekend I felt crap and found it really hard again. Just wondering if you are in a cycle of low carbing for a period, then eating carbs and starting all over again with the cravings/feeling rubbish part and never actually getting to the bit when you feel better on low carb?

nomore bloody builders! I guess you are better off knowing now, rather than them start the job and leave it half done!

bella good luck with the ops Flowers

And as mimosa likes to see what people are eating, here is my food for the day:
B fasting
L 2 jerk chicken thighs, salad leaves, mayo & almond latte
D chilli (still with kidney beans in it) with yellow & green peppers, sour cream and cheese

10/10 for great attitude, C4

C4... Fuck ... That's all I can think to say.

Not sure about visitors on HDU but let me know and I can try to pop over

GammeldagBooks · 26/09/2017 07:05

NSV this morning. Put on one of my standard "this outfit doesn't look too bad on me" wardrobe selections and it's too big. I am sure last time I wore this top my tummy was straining it, today it's like a tent, and I keep having to adjust -hoik up- the trousers. Grin Did a day on proper strict BC yesterday so feel back on it. Have a wedding and a family photoshoot at end Oct so it would be amazing to lose a few more inches by then!

Grah0SoontobeaFitty · 26/09/2017 07:08

@Gammeldagfinderonwheels

bit of extreme fasting there today, girl.
Hope you got enough fat in that ham salad & Costa capachinno.

As much as you enjoy the effect of causing the dishy physio to blush
are you not eligible for a

Pacemaker for Diaphragm Paralysis
or has the 24 years of not using it led to the diaphragm muscle being irreversibly atrophied.

B eggs bacon
L Chicken salad with avocado mayo splash of lime juice
D roast beef stir fry veg
Snack those Chicharrones
I cut the pieces too small and cooked too low for 5 hours
As we had a roast threw the bits in the oven as it was cooling
They did crisp up but 2-3lb of pork belly made a cup of scratchings,
more like crumbs. cost about 6quid. Got the craving out of the way tho, so worth it.

I'll post a picture tomorrow, its 1 am and cant remember were my phone is.
Goodnight,
Hope you all have fun and for you Gammeldagfinderonwheels hope his hands are big and warm.

YoLoGammelZammoDag · 26/09/2017 07:16

c4 you will simply have to stop dying on us. Really. It's getting silly now. We need you for next boot camp. It's that or woolly hugs and you know how militant those knitters are.
Wink

Lol at physio boob brush blush. Grin

FinallyHere · 26/09/2017 07:43

Goodness, C4

[is it too crass of me to notice how much I enjoy your writing style, even though the subject matter is so moving that i find myself reading by peeping out through my fingers. Ooopps, sorry, something in my eye again.]

#namastebitches indeed

ilovecherries · 26/09/2017 08:22

C4, I hope you feel a bit better this morning.
ClearEyes, you are always so kind and supportive to everyone else, you deserve some of that too, so unload whenever you feel like it.
Cider, I felt pretty unwell for at least the first 4 weeks. It would have been very easy to listen to my gremlins who were doing the whole 'you need to modify this (by eating x, y, z)' before it will work for you, but I'd made a commitment to myself that for 8 weeks I would do exactly as I was told, and then if it didn't work, I'd eat what I liked. It worked ;). I think there is an underestimation in a lot of the literature about how crappy you might actually feel when you are adapting. I didn't find it a pleasant experience at all. On the plus side, the thought of going through that again has kept me pretty much on the straight and narrow :D

Heading home from Inverness today, have had an unexpectedly lovely time.

Gammeldagfinderonwheels · 26/09/2017 08:46

Grah because my diaphragm was rendered useless by a spinal cord injury, there is nothing to stimulate, they did investigate it but it was a case of lights on nobody home sadly.

Yolo trust me, dying is definitely not on my agenda Smile while I can, I want fun, adventures, matching underwear and pretty shoes.

Finally it makes me really happy that you enjoy my writing style, sorry if I make your eyes leak. Maybe I should start a blog.

Just to make it absolutely clear to everyone there was no brushing of boobs, it was just the fact that they were exposed, quite close to him and according to DH they are magnificent Grin

YoLoGammelZammoDag · 26/09/2017 08:59

YYY to the blog c4 !! And please make sure you litter the text with plenty of shoe porn pics. I think we deserve it having put up with all your shenanigans recently. Grin

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 26/09/2017 09:11

Hi everyone thanks for your support about our f'ing builder, I don't normally swear except when I'm really angry we have spoken to the builder we almost chose and he's very sympathetic and thinks he can make a start in a month - he's coming to look at our plans etc this morning. He's much nicer and trustworthy- old school type.

There been so much happening on here I don't know where to start. C4 keep being you. I look for your updates to see how you are. Are you in derby royal or QMC - as I live not far from both hospital and will drop anything off if you need anything

I don't know about two threads - a proper bc one and a chatty one - won't the proper bc one evolve into a chatty one.?
Cider stay stay stay. It takes 30 days (I read) for something to become a habit and if you're like me you've spent years trying out different diets til you don't know what's right or wrong for you anymore - so why not give this woe a bit more time. We're here for you.

I felt a bit like eating more yday after all our drama with builders but I went to Costco instead and stocked up on bc food - and bought a pair of shoes and some pink pyjamas.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 26/09/2017 10:12

oatcakes - really glad to hear you've got a possible replacement lined up and almost ready to start. That's really good news.

c4 - Hope you have a better day today. I suspect it wouldn't be hard. Love the fact your ward had a LCHF meal for you. Great support team there!

Well, I was wrong, there was no suggestion about CF being there for dinner. Think that was only because he had to be back for something, though. DP and VF actually turned up earlier than expected, which was surprising. Of course, they'd already had a drink, and when we got back to the house disappeared to the shed for another. It was a shame, I'd hoped to persuade them to have a cuppa first, so I could have a chat with VF, and he would have been up for it, but not DP. So they had alcohol instead, and then came back to the house and had more. Tried to have a decent conversation with VF but DP kept drunkenly butting in, so I'd pick up the iPad and read whatever thread I found. Rude to VF, possibly, but not as rude as DP.

I think VF is realising how much I put up with from DP. Whether he'll have words with him I don't know. But we'll see.

DP did offer to make me a drink last night, and I asked for hot water and lemon, without sugar or honey, which he did, willingly, go and make for me. However, he put some honey in it, despite what I said. He did offer to make me another, but I couldn't be bothered. I've realised that what is most hurtful about that was the fact that he never listens to what I say (have to repeat myself multiple times, even when he's sober), yet I can't have a conversation with him without him telling me what CF has said on the subject. And it's not a question of sobriety as he rarely is when with CF.

Thankfully he's thinking of going away again at the weekend, so I get the place to myself again. Can't wait!

MOIST · 26/09/2017 12:56

Sweet cheeses C4 Shock

Blood H has discovered my LCHF cauli cheese. Git has eaten my leftovers portion so now I have nothing for lunch.

Mimosa1 · 26/09/2017 13:02

Aaargh just lost a long post!

C4 i completely second the blog idea - you're a brilliant writer.

Ilove - so impressed with your 8week rule and inspiring to see it working so well for you. I'm trying to picture myself in 8 weeks and if I'm sensible and keep up just over 0.5kg per week, I'll be back to my preprenacy weight. I'd still have an overweight bmi and a long way to go before my first prepregnancy weight, but I'd still be delighted with the former and after all 8 weeks is not that long.

Time - hope you're able to have a nice weekend of pampering yourself. As an aside, My not so guilty pleasure is reading ideal home magazine in the bath. No one else in the house reads it so I don't care about getting the pages wet and I throw it away afterwards.

I had a SV today - after 3 days away, I came back to being 1kg lighter so officially in the 13st, 170s (by the tiniest hair's breadth). Still another kg to be back at my lightest on this woe, but really chuffed to have lost weight while on holiday. It was one of those hotels where there is plenty of "free" food - bowls of biscuits and big baskets of apples everywhere, etc. So I'm pleased I was able to stick to my guns (with the exception of the g&t and red wine glass that made me feel like death the next day). I wonder if this woe makes for worse hangover bc you also have the carbiness? Makes it easier to not have it I suppose.

I've just made Jamie Olivers 5 ingredient lamb stew - 7g carbs per portion so looking forward to trying to out. You fry some lamb for a few minutes, add in rosemary, pickled onions and destoned olives, a tin of tomatoes and a tin again of water. I love all the ingredients so should be delish and no chopping!
