How interesting! ilove

C4 that is indeed shite. Today of all days. #Lolacanwait.

I think they ought to supply you with a bright pink bed. Just for you. To cheer you up. With glitter on of course. Chin up and get out of there soon. Is this the ghastly superbug rearing its head? Hope its not that and just a common cold . Fwiw I get a fluey bug very time i fly. The damn airlines recirculate the virus filled cabin air all flight.

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 25/09/2017 09:01

c4 I'm so sorry. -sending you positive vibes I'm on my way out to my art group - yep that's me, i do life drawing.
I'll try to catch up later

Veryflummoxed · 25/09/2017 09:10

Oh C4 that's absolutely crappy. I hope you get better soon and are home where you belong cuddling Alfie and Lola. (I was going to berate you for not taking enough for the team in that you didn't have enough to prevent me from being a carby twat last night, but in the circumstances I won't mention it)

I confess to a sudden, from out of nowhere, ridiculous episode of carby twatishness last night.

GammeldagBooks · 25/09/2017 09:14

ASD I have started BC today too. I have noted my weight and am determined not to allow carb creep. Thanks for the nice comments on my journal, it has really helped me to stay focused.

YoLoGammelZammoDag · 25/09/2017 10:28

ASD your overall downward trend is pretty darn good though. You have lost the equivalent weight of a 10 year old child! Imagine carrying a 10 year old around all day every day. Then putting them down.

Keeping on keeping on until the new bootcamp
ASDismynormality · 25/09/2017 11:08

Thanks books and yolo. I know I have done really well so far but also that I'm getting a bit lax - this was the kick up the backside I needed!

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 25/09/2017 12:03

Sorry it's not about boot camp or LCHF but I've got to vent - Bl%dy f^^ing builder has rung us up this morning to tell us he can't do our extension - too much work on he said and it needs a lot of digging down to do the footings. After all his faffing and fobbing is off he's finally told us straight. DH is on phone as I type to try getting another builder. At least now we know where we stand

CiderwithBuda · 25/09/2017 12:09

Starsky - well done! That's really good.

And ASD - fab result.

I'm back on track today. Going to limit dairy and see if I feel better. Have gotten into a bad habit of putting yummy extra thick cream on my yoghurt. And snacking on babybels. Also have noticed in the past that I can do plain eggs but if I add too much butter or any dairy I feel queasy after.

Will menu plan for the rest of the week focussing on Mediterranean type low carb foods.

And will drink more water. And no wine!

CiderwithBuda · 25/09/2017 12:10

Omg NOMORE - nightmare! How bloody unprofessional. Hope you find someone.

ASDismynormality · 25/09/2017 12:20

NOMORE. That's really frustrating, hope you find a good reliable builder.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 25/09/2017 12:49

Flowers for C4

starsky well done on the 2 and the 25, and we all have "fat" days. Even Kate Moss.

books your bullet journal made me laugh, no idea why. It just looks like something you were having fun doing while doing it.

I'm very low again today, my head is just not on a good place and I can't shake it off, nor explain it. Finding myself exhibiting behaviour similar to what preceded a recent, extended, severe depression and it frightens me. I just keep thinking that if I force myself to do things I'll stop feeling so low. And I'm hoping that works because my last resort is anti-depressants, which I really don't want. Bugger.

However, the bright side is I feel back on track with strict LCHF, and that always makes me feel rather pleased with myself!Wink

bellalurgy · 25/09/2017 12:49

Finally caught up - I'm not going to be able to remember all the new names, who's who and what's happening...... except c4 and the latest journey to hospital. So sorry c4, I hope you get out again as quickly as possible.

To summarise, you've all gone part Danish, there's been babies and dogs, lots of alcohol and carby twatdom, a date for the new bootcamp (yaaay), the odd op and trip away/meals out and a wedding ..... phew!

Welcome to all the newbies - I'm not quite an original but not a newbie either - I plan to stick around a loooong time as I have a lot to lose Grin

Quick update from me. I've had all my pre ops and am going in for op number one on Wednesday. This is the biggest in terms of surgery but I'll have a general and it's my second mastectomy so I'm not too worried about it. I just need to plan food and drink cos I'm not touching hospital 'food'!

Although I've kept on with this woe I've not planned to lose weight, I've just wanted my body to catch up with itself and be in good nick (ha!) to minimise the risk of complications. I'm now on day 231 (according to mfp) and have kept around 12.2-12.4 since I consciously stopped trying to lose weight. That's nearly 3st since I started and I'm now confident I can maintain. Still about 3st to go but I'm very happy with the progress I've made so far!

I've also had pre ops for cataracts. The first op will be within 8 weeks then the second once I've recovered properly from the first. Not looking forward to these as its only a local anaesthetic. I'll be awake with someone poking around in my eye Shock No option though, I'll just have to be a grown up or lose my sight!

Anyway, I'm definitely in for BC, need to get going again. I'm not sure yet about other ops (possibly another two) but I'll deal with that when it happens. Just think, if you keep going, imagine how different next spring/summer will be??? KOKO

Gammeldragz · 25/09/2017 13:02

c4 buggeration! What awful timing, I'm so sorry. Is your body publishing you for the carby twatness on holiday? So unfair. I hope they fix you quickly. Flowers
Nomore that's infuriating, hope you find another builder.
Bella good luck with the op, as for the cataract surgery, I have watched this and it is rather alarming as an observer. But the patients all coped amazingly well, apparently the eye drops and anaesthetic mean that you can't really see from the eye that's being operated on. And they try to bring the instruments in from the side, so you can't see them! The worst part is the anaesthetic injection going in, I think. Once you're in theatre you can't see what's going on.

Despite feeling rough and sore this morning from pain over the weekend (GP suspects endometriosis, I have recurrent pelvic pain in various locations) I was VERY tempted by the sweet treats in the coffee shop - but I resisted! Haven't been that close to caving in to sugar in a long time. Came home and had bacon, eggs and cheese. Also had a couple of tiny bits of roast parsnip (about 40g worth - 15g carbs, they really are very high!) - have tracked all in MFP.

YoLoGammelZammoDag · 25/09/2017 14:19

Good luck bella

How bloody disgusting of your builder no more. All your plans dashed at the last minute. What a total git.

cleareyes keep posting here. We are all here for you. How are things going with DH? Does that factor in with your mood/mental health?

cider what exactly are "Mediterranean" low carb foods? The only ones I can think of are meat and fish and olive oil. Surely we eat those anyway on this woe? Apart from those, Mediterranean to me means tomatoes, focaccia, pasta, peppers, risotto, paella, ciabatta, tiramisu and pizza!! no low carb there

CiderwithBuda · 25/09/2017 14:59

YoLo - yes - meat, fish, olive oil, olives, tomatoes, peppers etc. Obv not pasta, pizza etc. I just want to see if eating more of those foods makes me feel better. It's not hugely different to how we eat on this WOE obv but I'm not going to stress about peppers and tomatoes for instance being higher in carbs. it's not hugely different but just some tweaks for me. For instance I tend to rely on pots of egg mayonnaise and cheese and onion deli fillers from M&S and I know they are not great but I also think it's things like that that make me feel off.

Having said all that it's gammon steaks and fried egg for me for tea tonight! Grin

Mimosa1 · 25/09/2017 16:15

Hi everyone, I'm on my way back from my w/e away and catching up on the thread.

C4 - what a bloody nuisance, I'm so sorry - hope you feel better soon! Good on you for recognising your symptoms and proactively getting yourself to HUD.

Clear, hope you also feel better soon and same to the OP about to have an op (apologies for not naming names, am on my phone while DH is driving).

I think I did ok this weekend, no carbs except for tomatoes and 1 g&t with slimline tonic and 1 large glass of red which i was happy to have at our gorgeous restaurant . That said, I felt horrendous the next morning, I must say. No more booze for me until my bday then Xmas. We'll see what the scales say tomorrow...

HippadoppaloppaGammeldag · 25/09/2017 16:24

C4 bums, that's rubbish. Hope your stay isn't too long.

Clear keep talking to us lovely, we're here to support you.

Cider the mediterranean way of eating seems to be what I've subconsciously been doing in this between bootcamps period. I do feel good for it & still losing a bit. My carbs are about 40-60g per day. I have to track, otherwise I lose all grip on portion sizes and I've not got long until my goal.

Lunch today was probably a bit carby, they didn't have the baked prawn dish I'd seen on the online menu, they had pan fried scallops instead. It came with chorizo "jam", which tasted quite sweet. I also shared a goats cheese and walnut salad with my step dad, which was pretty epic and had apple in it. Had a coffee afterwards and one bite of DH mint choc chip sundae. Got chicken salad for tea at work.

Now I'm not going out for any more meals for a while, so I can take control more. Although I was back to my pre-holiday weight this morning and have done 2.5l of water already, so it hasn't been too bad.

Grah0SoontobeaFitty · 25/09/2017 16:29

@Bellalurgy good luck. I know it's rude and not something you might want to share but going back a few threads, the ladies were wondering how much a cup size weighed. Could you ask your doctor if he knows?

@ciderwithbuda is the problem not with the food, but with something else? In lots of previous threads, there have had some amazingly honest revelations about the reasons why people have created their eating habits. I think, that because we can't see each other and the feeling of friendship people talk about more personal things. Once typed, and people support and express similar feelings it seems to lift the typist, and others, they become empowered to believe that they are worth the effort and change happens within themselves.

Do you have a goal an idea of where you want to get too?
Ie.
until I get too...... I will not do/have .... ?
But once I do

As a doctor once said in a book
When trying to lose weight. do what it takes to lose weight.
Once lost do what it takes to not put it back on.

Have fun hope we are all on the new bootcamp sign up thread.
YOYO can't do multiple threads spend too long on just 1.

Grah0SoontobeaFitty · 25/09/2017 16:34

@NOMOREoatcakesandcheese

Hopefully, you have only lost time and not Money on that builder, will you be getting multiple quotes?
are these sites any help?

Bella. Excellent summary. Good luck with the ops.
ClearEyes. Keep talking and gentle hugs.
Builders are shit (sweeping generalisation but ime they are).

wombattoo · 25/09/2017 17:08

Bella I hope all goes well for you. You certainly have a lot on Thanks
C4 I'm sending you good wishes to get home soon Thanks
NOMORE What a shitty trick from the builder. At least you know where you stand and can try find someone else.

Regarding a second thread - we had something similar a couple of years ago and it caused a few problems. There is also the risk that regular posters stay on the 'other' thread and new people don't have the benefit of all your experience.
It makes it very awkward to manage what is in effect 2 boot camp threads. Imo.

You're all very kind. Felt better after posting and managed to get some important things done. Going out tonight with friends and will have the usual pub quiz fun, I'm sure.

Really don't want to derail thread with my problems, but am certain the depression and diet are intertwined. Being healthy again will help me immensely, yet I'm deeply bothered by how much my self-esteem is influenced by my appearance, and even more bothered by how much it all affects my depressive tendencies, and bothered still by how much of this is intertwined with my marital problems.

But thanks for the comments, they lifted me.
