Happy birthday bastard (oh I liked saying that Grin)

I think maybe we need to Myers-Briggs everyone. Then allocate roles accordingly.

(I'll be the introverted control freak being creative at the back).

Gammeldagfinderonwheels · 24/09/2017 13:12

I've found the Bootcamp of Namaste Bitches to be fantastically supportive and I know it's helped me to stay focused on this woe. We've welcomed newbies and lurkers since bc finished so I'm sure everyone will continue to be supportive in the bc of Danger of the Christmas Party .

Maybe those of us who have stayed active should do a little introduction at the start of bc, what do people think?

MOIST · 24/09/2017 13:15

Like AA Grin

My name is MOIST and my last carb was 97 days ago.

I might need s namchsnge for the next one. I've been MOIST for a while now.

GammeldagBooks · 24/09/2017 13:49

I've been MOIST for a while now

Did that make anyone else snigger or just me? Grin

FinallyHere · 24/09/2017 14:04

ENTP here Moist Smile

TempusEejit · 24/09/2017 14:16

Hello everyone! I'm back from holiday, only 3.2lb gain which is great as my pre holiday weigh-in had followed a 4 day fast. And despite gaining on the scales my waist is actually down half an inch! We were full board, lots of high carb treats available but I managed to stick to around 50g carbs a day and am still in ketosis so I'm very proud of myself as I usually put on at least half a stone on holiday starting from a fully carbed up state already.

Count me in for Bootcamp, the support here is great Smile

WetGammeldag, fnarrrr.

Yeah I like the idea of introductions!

Had the pollo salad at Pizza Express and left the doughsticks and the croutons. It did have little roquito peppers and tomatoes in, but overall I don't think it was too bad. The goats cheese was lush.

Out again for lunch tomorrow, there's baked king prawns with chilli & tomato sauce & baby gem salad that looks quite nice and about the most BC friendly thing I can see. I think I'm going to have that.

Food for today:
L - pollo salad
D - got some eggs to scramble in the microwave with a pulled pork portion (probably got sugar in, but I fancied it)

ClearEyesFullHearts · 24/09/2017 16:55

BIWI I'm in for next Bootcamp, and not a moment too soon. Am doing alright but not really losing. (Having a bit of 'back-to-school ennui, change of season to sad grey England, and husband working away a LOT' types of issues. Have realised I need the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness in my life.)

ilovecherries I have friends who work for HoC and they encourage you to contact your colour stylist with your concerns. If you're not comfortable with that, or feel she has nothing further to offer, contact their customer service via web page. They receive loads of training before they can join but there are always people who are new, or people who aren't that great.

When I did mine the stylist of one year was being overseen by a senior stylist to make sure she gave the full HoC experience. It isn't a cheap service so please make sure you got the information you needed from it. You deserve that.

Hippa not sure what's in your pulled pork but if you ever fancy making your own via slow cooker, this recipe is to die for, very easy, and works out to about 9 carbs per serving. Bunless and without the optional BBQ sauce, obviously, and possibly higher than other meals (it's the brown sugar and onions that up the count), but still good if you're aiming for 20-30 per day.

C4 you're taking an awful lot for the team! Wink Glad you're enjoying your time with DD.

I also think the idea of introductions with new Bootcamp is a good one, but that seems to happen naturally. But I have to correct the person (can't remember!) who made the great joke about not having had a carb in 97 days (nice one)...you have. We all have. Just the right kind!

KOKO.

BIWI · 24/09/2017 17:29

ENFP here Smile

BIWI · 24/09/2017 17:32

@CiderwithBuda please don't take this the wrong way, but are you not just repeating a pattern of behaviour? Doing a diet for a short period, falling off it, deciding it doesn't work, and so moving on to the next one?

Why don't you give Bootcamp a proper try - give your body chance to get used to something?

The Blood Sugar Diet is tough - only 800 calories a day for 8 weeks. So you certainly won't be able to drink the wine on that one Wink

I worry that you are simply self-sabotaging. But there's always the hope that somehow the next diet will be the one that does it for you. (Until you fall off that one as well ...)

ClearEyesFullHearts · 24/09/2017 17:57

ragz are you drinking alcohol? Has your activity level dropped? Any carb creep? Drinking all the water?

If you're following the plan and are still stalled, okay. It happens, and maybe you need to do something to kickstart it. But it shouldn't really matter that much what your calorie intake is (within reason) when you're doing LCHF.

Cider do you carb count? How many carbs are you on, generally? If you're saying you need more carbs to feel better, then up your vegetable consumption rather than eat a tortilla or similar. If for no other reason than at least the veg will provide nutrients.

And if you're drinking, maybe it feels like the tortilla or whatever bready type food makes you feel better simply because of that post-alcohol 'must have carbs' thing. Which I'm sure is to do with insulin or whatever and I'm sure someone will explain the science behind this and why it makes people 'feel better.'

I'd advise hanging in properly with Bootcamp but good luck with whatever you're choosing. Smile

CiderwithBuda · 24/09/2017 17:59

BIWI - you are not wrong! It is definitely a pattern. But. I'm not planning on doing the BSD - just using recipes etc. I won't be limiting myself to 800 cals a day. I just want to eat a more Mediterranean way of low carbing which is obviously what the BSD is based on.

I know that carbs are not good. I know this is a way of eating for life. I just need to find a way to do it where I'm not feeling a bit blah for want of a better word! It might be dairy that doesn't particularly agree with me. I'm going to experiment but stick with low carb.

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 24/09/2017 18:05

Acronym alert. What's ENFP?

FinallyHere · 24/09/2017 18:15

Sorry about the rash of acronyms , that was me, picking up on something someone mentioned about assigning us all roles based on our MBTI types MBTI

Next after models for colour and style analysis, team dynamics, this is my most favourite thing in the world. I do love a classifications system, systemising people within it then noticing the really interesting bits which is where people differ from the norm.

If i didn't have to earn a living, i would be doing a research project, to see whether i could find any correlations between mbti and the house of cour colour and style analysis systems , and whether there was anything to be learned in this space. Haven't got as far as an actual hypothesis to prove, or even to understand what school might be interested in supervising. Im going for a Euromillions win to fund it, so would probably sponsor a readership and get them interested that way. Probably starting with industrial psychology and social media. Thereabout anyway.

ilovecherries · 24/09/2017 18:25

I have an MBTI license to administer and debrief the assessment. Love it. I'm an INFP.

ilovecherries · 24/09/2017 18:27

So I DO get paid by organisations to do it, which I love :)

FinallyHere · 24/09/2017 18:35

Ooohh, ilovecherries I now have serious career envy. At one stage in my career, I had a secondment which meant that i was scheduled to undertake the first stage of that training. Sadly, the organisation embarked on a merger, all training plans put on hold, prioritising global integration courses.

I chose to go back to a line role, rather than stay in the merger work and lots of those training and development roles were cut anyway. Would have loved to continue but have been earning my living as a project manger ever since.

If you ever need an (albeit somewhat elderly and unwaged) apprentice, I'm your woman.

ilovecherries · 24/09/2017 18:46

I'm actually very lucky because I'm self employed now, but in my last 5 years at work before I took early retirement I was sponsored to a lot of training: MBTI, Covey 7 Habits, Jack Canfield SuccessPrinciples and a Coaching qualification. I worked in organisational change, and my job was merged then disappeared, but I did well out of it.

MOIST · 24/09/2017 18:52

I'm an INFP too ilove.

SightlyDampGammeldag?

Gammeldagfinderonwheels · 24/09/2017 19:00

Cleareyes you lot are so lucky to have me absorbing all this carby rubbish for you but it stops tonight, do you hear me, I just can't take it any more, it's not fair, not fair, not fair I tell you, why does everyone else get to eat the fat and I have to drink beer, ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO ME ^ I feel used, used I tell you

I know introductions happen naturally but I was eluding to making it clear that we are part of the inner sanctum of the Gammeldag Illuminati and therefore will be naturally supportive of the fledgling bootcampers on the dangerofthechristmasparty bootcamp. It will be obvious to all the newcomers that we're all bat shit crazy everything we say makes perfect sense and we never speak in our own secret language and haven't created our own terminology for anything at all.

Cider stay for bootcamp, go on, aw go on, go on, aw go on stay, go on you know it won't be as much fun anywhere else and ...........
You have to listen to BIWI, she is a higher being and she knows her shit, all of us here are thinner because of BIWI and her knowledge so don't diss her by going on the batty diet that will make you weak, miserable and moody. I've done long term low calorie and it will just make you hibernate and not be able to do anything and if you go out all you can eat is Air or Dust and I don't mean nice space dust but the manky stuff you find on the floor.

Once we have introduced ourselves BIWI can reveal that a group of long term hospitalised insane people are also on the thread but they are harmless because there are bars on the windows.Grin

I made it home in one piece, I was very impressed with the help from train staff, hated the taxi ride at this end (just don't enjoy it, never feel safe bouncing around in the back) so it does open up some possibilities for me. There is a big but though and that is I can't get on the train and go somewhere for the day because I can't carry a ventilator, power pack and suction machine if I'm on my own can I, it's frustrating because I would love to get on the train and go to London and while away a day in Harrods an art gallery.

I'm getting strict with myself and more honest with you lot, I often post food and end up eating something completely different and I still have a guilty Atkins bar habit but I ate the last one today and I won't be replenishing my stash. I also haven't been brilliant on the water consumption front either. So I will be posting what I actually eat rather than leaving the fantasy menu on the thread.

Today I have eaten:

Two slices of halloumi and some smoked ham
I Atkins bar
I pkt of Gammeldags
Dinner will be some stir fried chicken with pepper, spinach, cauliflower and courgette noodles

Gammeldragz · 24/09/2017 19:59

Undecided to treat myself to some of the carbier veg for dinner, as I've stalled anyway!

Chicken thighs x2, broccoli, carrots, parsnip, red onion and celeriac. With gravy. Avoided Yorkshire puds and stuffing.
Still well under 50g carbs for the day. Most days I'm well under 30g. By estimation. I may track them strictly for a week, just to see if there's been any carb creep.
Don't drink really, two days this month and not much then. Apart from the Oppo ice cream last weekend, I haven't had anything naughty.
Maybe the Greek yogurt and cream is stalling me?

Shiraznowplease · 24/09/2017 20:24

I am massively craving sugar today, thinking of sneaking the children's jar of Nutella and a spoon 🙊😱

Llareggub · 24/09/2017 20:27

I had goulash, spring greens.and broccoli with yoghurt this evening. Yum.

FinallyHere · 24/09/2017 20:42

I've decided to log a couple of days worth of food on MFP, so I can see a more accurate breakdown of my consumption. Goodness, it's tedious at first, but I can see how once you get your regular type of meals loaded, it gets easier.

One question I'm stuck on, do you log the amount of raw meat marked on a packet or do you weigh it once it is cooked? I don't have any idea whether that would even make a difference, but it lets me put of the whole logging things for another day.

I'm supposed to do making a video of myself, for an upcoming school reunion. If only I avoided these by making the house spotless, rather than multishirking here in MN all day.
