Hunger is inevitable during the first 4-5 days I always find. Once I'm in ketosis I'm ok, it's just getting to that point. Having said that I'm still quite full from the halloumi last night!

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 21/09/2017 07:56

Yolo Grin Grin Grin

HippadoppaloppaGammeldag · 21/09/2017 08:00

Thought I might as well join in the Gammeldag fun!

I think I'm coming down with a cold, boo.

Food plan:
B - egg & ham (got Buggyfit later & suffer if I don't eat before exercise)
L - tuna salad & mayo
D - roast chicken with broccoli & cauliflower. Plus all the skin as no one else in my house likes it, so I get it alllllllll! Yay!

Gammeldagfinderonwheels · 21/09/2017 08:40

Food today

B fasting
L salad with eggs
S gammeldags
D chicken & leek soup

gammeldagfinderonwheels · 21/09/2017 08:49

And it came to pass in the land called Hi Fatlow Carb that the disciples of the Gammeldags did grow and spread around the land.
The angel of the BIWI did command that one of their number did write a song about the gammeldag and they did form a choir called the Gammeldagets and they did perform the song of the gammeldag whenever they imbibed the juice of the grape.

Namaste Gammeldagets

HippadoppaloppaGammeldag · 21/09/2017 09:24

Oooh we should write the song. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is singing "Gammeldags, gammeldags, the incredible gammeldags" to the tune of Spiderman. Hmm I'll have a think over the course of the day.

CiderwithBuda · 21/09/2017 09:25

You Gammeldags are all a bit bonkers you know? Grin.

Well last night's restraint paid off on the scales this morning. Down a bit. From 15 9.5 yesterday to 15 8.75 this morning. I'll take that!

Gammeldragz - I don't even drink cider! The cider in my name is from Cider with Rosie. Was moving from Budapest to the West Country and tried a name that combines both.

DH wasn't trying to sabotage me. He didn't mention me drinking or not drinking after that initial conversation. He also drinks less when I'm not drinking although he does still drink and he is happy with that. And after the initial hard done by feeling I have if he is drinking and I am not it's all good.

YoLo - it's definitely a lifestyle routine. Back from when we started going out together. Always a g&t or two while cooking and then wine. And it has gradually increased. I go through periods of cutting back - switching to white wine with lots of soda or stopping completely. I'm happy stopping completely at the moment. Going to try not to drink until I go to Boston at the end of October.

StuntNun · 21/09/2017 09:50

I had carb cravings last night, made worse by the kids leaving lots of their dinner and caved in to two chips with my burger and salad. Lo and behold Auntie Flo has arrived today so I don't feel bad about my minor indiscretion. Pre-LC it would have been bags of crisps and chocolate bars in the run up and I would have been seriously bad-tempered. I don't miss period pains either; they've all but stopped. Before I went low carb I would have spent three days maxed out on painkillers to be able to make it to work, now I get a mild twinge at most. No-ones going to tell me LCHF is bad for me when I feel ten years younger.

CiderwithBuda · 21/09/2017 10:38

That's good StuntNun. I don't get periods anymore thankfully. The blessing of getting older!

I forgot a friend is taking me out for lunch today. Just had a look at the menu and it looks fab. All thrice cooked chips and mash and carbs carbs carbs! Will have to be really careful. She is low carbing too so it might be easy but not if she decides to go off piste.

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 21/09/2017 12:29

Hi there everyone or should I say hail to the mighty Gammeldags
I did a long catch up post and my iPad just closed mumsnet down along with my post I was typing which has disappeared - god knows what's the matter with it!! I won't even begin to try to catch up with all the recent goings on here 😀😀 so I'll just dive headlong in. I've done three 18:8 days this week and I've found it fairly easy although I don't seem to have lost anything according to my scales. I'm wondering if I should be eating 3 meals when doing 18:6. Eg 2 egg mushroom omelette, feta cheese and loads of salad; total yogurt with creme fraiche, raspberries and some flaxseeds; 2 chicken thighs chorizo, mozzarella and loads of green veg and 3 litres plus water. Does this seem ok?

Getting fed waiting for our house extension to start - it should have begun this week and all that's happened is that a young lad has been sent round to dig a hole to look at the state of the soil and whether it's solid enough to build on - the poor lad has only been in the job a week as an apprentice and he forgot to measure the depth of the whole so his boss ent him back to measure it. We're getting worried that our build is delaying things as they haven't finished working on their current job - worst case scenario is that we look for another builder who can start soon - but if they're any good I imagine they're all booked up. Well that's my moans for the day, sorry to drop them on you all.

gammeldagfinderonwheels · 21/09/2017 12:32

Cider most places will do a chicken breast or steak with salad, take the lead and tell her you're not cheating today lest you should get exiled to the land of eggfast

Mimosa1 · 21/09/2017 12:55

Hi everyone. Hope all well. Oatcakes, building /your own house sounds v exciting, if a lot of work. What are you planning?

I've been swinging around a lot on the scales but the overall trend is ever so slowly downwards so I'll take it although would have liked to have lost more before my weekend away with lovely, slim and stylish BFF coming up. She sprang back to her old figure in a matter of days after having had her kids, and if she weren't so fab, I'd have to hate herwink]--

Anyway, as a reward for having stuck to this diet woe for a WHOLE month, I booked myself an industrial clean of our supposed to be self cleaning oven. (Not being snarky, think it's the longest I've ever managed to stick to losing weight and am bloody proud of myself). Best money I have ever spent! It looks brand new and honestly don't think it had been done since we moved in Blush The chap came with industrial solvents, whipped the thing out and started scraping away. Very satisfying!
The oven is now a thing of magnificence and DH is not allowed to sully it with his chicken tikka roasted directly on the rack, as it needs to be admired reverently for a few days.

gammeldagfinderonwheels · 21/09/2017 12:55

Oatcakes Builders are a law unto themselves, this is typical practice for them, they run late on a job and send the trainee to placate the next customer by digging a hole.
They already know the ground is suitable to build on, your house is proof of that. Please tell me you have some sort of contract with them? And if not please don't hand over any money up front, you should pay them only for work completed and if you're not confident in gauging that it might be worth paying a quantity surveyor to do that for you.
You're absolutely right in thinking that any builder worth using will be busy right now. I do think you should insist on speaking to the people they have been working for most recently it will give you a current picture of what it's going to be like for you.
The best tip I can give you is to buy a cheap electric kettle and give it to them on day one with a box of teabags, jar of coffee and a pint of milk. You don't want to spend your days making tea for hairy arsed builders and definitely no biscuits.

BIWI · 21/09/2017 13:18

@Mimosa1 I've just had mine done too - ovenu.com. I can highly, highly recommend them. It looks like I have a new oven and hob now!

starsky22 · 21/09/2017 14:05

Hello gammeldagers!
I'm going to get so confused with all the name changes!

Moist hope you feel better soon Flowers

cider I'm the same at the moment, I know that alcohol stalls my weight and I'd rather seen the scales go down than have a drink, I actually think it's easier to abstain than have a drink ocassional as you will get out of the habit, koko you're doing great

grumpy how long have you been doing low carb, you're better off eating 3 meals a day until it's well established and then you won't find it hard to fast, if you are hungry in the mornings then eat breakfast!

hippo lucky you getting all the skin, I made a serious mistake when I taught my children to love it!

Yesterday:
B fasting
L chicken tikka masala, cauli rice, broccoli
S small slice of frittata & bacon
D steak, asparagus, creamy mushrooms

StuntNun · 21/09/2017 14:19

NOMORE afaik most people only eat two meals when they do 18:6.

Mimosa1 · 21/09/2017 14:50

I know, Biwi, it's amazing Grin

starsky22 · 21/09/2017 15:04

I've got a work lunch coming up, here's the set menu, what would you choose? Its ordered an advance so not sure I can request substitutions.

Keeping on keeping on until the new bootcamp
ASDismynormality · 21/09/2017 16:16

starsky. I would go with the chicken liver parfait to start , I'm making the assumption it will be derived in a pot with the bread on the side, and leave the bread. Then I would choose the fish and leave the potato.

wombattoo · 21/09/2017 16:53

^B. Bacon and mushrooms
L. Cheese omlette
S. Pork Scratchings
D. 3 eggs scrambled in butter.
1 creamy coffee and 2 normal with a bit of semi-skimmed milk. 2l of water so far.^

Grimbles I didn't mean to offend you. I was basing it on the above post on Tues evening.

I am guilty of not eating enough veg/salad. Planning to remedy that Smile

mimosa I had my oven professionally cleaned for the first time too a few weeks ago, up till then I'd thought the oven door was frosted brown glass, turns out it's not Blush

Hope all you Dagettes are doing well.

ilovecherries · 21/09/2017 17:18

Satisfying little whoosh this morning. Don't know what my actual weight is because mum's scales are weighing differently from mine at home, but am two pounds lighter than when I arrived and first weighed on hers.

HippadoppaloppaGammeldag · 21/09/2017 17:51

Starksy I'd have the chicken liver parfait & leave the bread, then either the plaice or chicken and leave the potatoes.

Well done ilove !

I have already eaten all the chicken skin when I was carving it up for the girls to have theirs earlier. It was bloody delicious, as always. I make a paste of salt, garlic and tarragon with a bit of olive oil and rub it over the chicken before roasting it. I'm thinking of branching out and using sumac next time.

Got a few lovely meals to make out of the leftover chicken now, doing my chicken pizza bake, chicken and black bean stew for the girls, chicken chilli and will have a lovely rocket, feta and chicken salad tomorrow for my lunch I think.

I bloody love roast chicken.

HippadoppaloppaGammeldag · 21/09/2017 17:53

Cider how did the meal go?

NoMore I only eat twice. I'm too full to eat 3 times!!
