Happy SSS Day! Grin

Yesterday was yum

B: 3 eggs, mushrooms, rocket, butter, cheese
L: butter fried tofu, crunchy salad leaves, mayo
D: asparagus, mushroom, spring onion scrambled eggs with mozzarella

I love how my urge to pick and look for food between meals has been turned off like a switch. Unbelievable. It makes me feel relaxed and happy. I used to feel panicky a lot, that I wanted to eat all the time. I'd plot what I'd eat (sugary carbs) after I'd put the dc to bed all the time. I just don't have that anymore. It seems like it was straight up carb/sugar addiction than anything mental after all! I wonder if some binge eating disorders are misdiagnosed this way. The problem won't be fixed until they break the physical addiction and replace it with satiating fat. Rather than therapy. Who knows.

Forgot to mention my agreement with Grah that exercise - especially "new" or substantial - can actually have a contrary effect on the scales initially.

Having started the Shred again, which I do Monday to Friday, with the weekend off, I find that from Tuesday to Saturday my weight is up Confused and the drop only appears on Monday after peeing for Scotland overnight on Sunday Shock

But I know I'm helping my fitness and shaping my muscles.

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 01/09/2017 09:08

Hi all
I'm raring to go with SSS 😱😎 is there going to be a separate thread or what? What do I need to do to get stated on it? Give me an hour or so to get showered and my glasses on and I'll post my goals for it here.

JustContemplating · 01/09/2017 09:36

Thanks for the explanation. It's made your conversation seem less like a foreign language. Smile

How long does it take to stop peeing like a racehorse? It's a pain in the neck.

starsky22 · 01/09/2017 09:37

I think I need to join you on SSS, as I've been having a bit of carb creep. The weight is still going down so I wasn't too worried, but after 10 weeks of lchf my IBS was finally under control, but last 2 days my symptoms are back. Bloating, stomach aches and diarrhoea after lunch yesterday, plus headaches. My period is due, so could be partly to blame, but think it's more likely the gravy with flour I've had recently! I thought such a small amount of flour wouldn't cause such issues, is it possible to be become more intolerant to food when you aren't eating it very often?

Yesterday;
B fasting
L leftover roast lamb, gravy, celeriac and broccoli
D meatballs, tomato sauce, spinach and mozzarella

Mimosa1 · 01/09/2017 09:39

Sounds great, keen to start SSS with you all. Still in the "I'm sooo hungry" stage but I know from experience it will calm down by tomorrow or the next day.

ragz134 · 01/09/2017 09:47

SSS here. Boiling some eggs for brunch. Maybe some kind of mozzarella, chorizo and aubergine bake for dinner, with greens. I'll get inventive!

prettybird · 01/09/2017 09:55

Justcontemplating - it does settle down. Initially I would wake up 2 or 3 times during the night, but now I can sleep through except for Sunday nights where all the fluid retention from doing the Shred during week seems to come flooding out Wink

BIWI Lunch was supposed to happen. I didn't have breakfast until 11am then had some toddler free time (didn't realise how easy one baby is until I had two!) so raced around doing errands and suddenly it was 4.30 and time to start prepping dinner! I am enjoying not being so hungry but you're right could have had a bit more/different veg that way.

BIWI · 01/09/2017 10:36

Ah yes. The world changes just a bit when baby no 2 comes along! Grin

Trouble is, it's all too easy to forget about yourself.

C4pinkwheels · 01/09/2017 10:40

I found the transition from 2 to 3 the hardest and when I moved in with DH 18 yrs ago I went from 5 to 9 overnight, the youngest 6 were 3,4,5,5,7 & 9 that was just pure insanity.

Giraffeski · 01/09/2017 10:42

I fell off the last thread and stopped weighing as scales broke but was doing really well until we went to France on hols two weeks ago- carby twat alert!
I have lost a dress size but have put on loads (not weighed so not sure HOW much) while we were away. But DH has promised he is giving up Haribo and crisps on Monday so I am getting back on wagon accordingly as it's just so tempting to have the odd one... and then two...

CiderwithBuda · 01/09/2017 10:43

Hi all. Haven't been to on here for a few days but am still at it. Did have a blip on Wednesday night though.

Will catch up on posts later.

Must drink more water!

Llareggub · 01/09/2017 10:43

Hello, I have been low carbing for a week and a half now. Thought I would join in, mainly because I have been eating the same thing every day which is fine for now but I am getting a little sick of mackeral.

I have lost 8 pounds so far (result!) and I am sleeping better. I am aiming to do this until 21 September when hopefully I will have developed this into a habit rather than a diet.

I am also trying to build in more activity during the day, but this is proving tough. I have more energy though and no hunger.

Grimbles · 01/09/2017 11:27

Hi all. I need a bit of a pep talk and/or a kick up the arse.

I have just weighed myself and am 13st11, so I've lost a total of 5lbs over 11 days. I know that this would normally be a good thing but I can't help feeling a bit disillusioned at the same time. I was so strict with what I ate and I was looking forward to the end of BC and being able to add a few extras back into my diet. Sad

RaininSummer · 01/09/2017 11:28

That is excellent but you had better plan some different meals before you get too bored and mess it up. Have you seen the recipe database? If you can find it, search out the actual bootcamp threads and it should be at the top somewhere thanks to the amazing people who organise this.

RaininSummer · 01/09/2017 11:30

Sory, above was to LLargub, Grimbles, that is a brilliant loss so far. I think you see this way of eating as a longer term thing. What sort of 'extras' were you thinking of?

prettybird · 01/09/2017 11:46

Grimbles - I'm on the phone so difficult to search on you to remind myself of your history and your starting point, but......

Remember this is a marathon, not a sprint. 5lb in 11 days is good. That's c3lb a week. Yes, some of us get a bigger initial drop, mostly of water, but then we might have a bigger/longer "stall" in weeks 3/4/5.

It also depends ok how close you are to your target.

Once you settle in to this WOE, while it's nice to get a 2lb or more drop in a week, 1lb is still good. And remember, this is an average - some weeks you might STS - or even go up a pound.

The point about this WOE is that you don't need to feel like you're starving yourself.

You asked a wee while ago about if/when you can ease up on the WOE. For me personally, I've been able to have the odd piece of cake/peppermint crisp/good chocolate if I really want it. And if I do, I make myself eat it mindfully. Appreciate it, and then go and drink loads of water and get back on the wagon and avoid BIWI's big stick Wink

Grimbles · 01/09/2017 11:58

Rainin, things like yoghurt, an occasional glass of wine, some nuts, seeds and berries.

Thanks to you and pretty for your pep talk though :)

DH is impressed with 5lbs and is wanting to give it a try himself so we will both do 2 weeks BC starting on Monday. I think it will be a lot easier with both of us doing it, and as DS goes back to school getting into a routine with food prep will be easier too.

I'm not giving up but I am not going to be too strict over the weekend. I'm not going to be eating bread, rice, etc. but I may have a couple of glasses of wine and a curry dish without worrying about the carbs in the sauce.

prettybird · 01/09/2017 12:18

Grimbles - I do the same at weekends. Share a bottle of Cava with dh on a Friday night, with every 2nd week dh and ds having a Lidl curry while I will just have the meat bit without the rice (although some weeks I have an omelette instead). Alternate weeks I make low carb chicken nuggets for us.

Saturday night I'll often have good red or white wine, depending on what we're eating. I try to drink less than dh (and we often have a friend over, so it's shared amongst 3) so that I have less than half a bottle - or even keep some for the next night.

Llareggub · 01/09/2017 12:26

I eat the same every day because 1) i like what I am eating and 2) i have little time to research alternatives. I know I will have to though!

ClearEyesFullHearts · 01/09/2017 12:47

Starting SSS at 199.8 lb.

Wondering if there are general guidelines here? I've seen people posting various things about what they're doing but it sure will make it harder to beat them with a stick if I can't remember their rules! Grin

Good luck everyone.

JustContemplating · 01/09/2017 13:34

I'm not sure about SSS because I am still feeling like I haven't a clue what I'm doing anyway. I keep forgetting to count how many carbs I've had because I keep having to look it up.

Also, this really doesn't feel like a diet at all. For lunch today I had bacon, a couple of boiled eggs and a cucumber and tomato salad. I'm stuffed!

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 01/09/2017 13:36

That's why I thought maybe a seperate thread for it, so we could jot down our rules and there weren't posts in here confusing people who aren't doing it?
