Morning all. Very excited to hear the final scores!

Here's the Spreadsheet for its last outing this Bootcamp

We'll keep this chat thread going, and when it finishes, we'll start a new one so that we can keep the support going until next Bootcamp.

oatcakes Yes, I think it's carb flu. It can be really unpleasant for some people but should pass after a few days. It's the body reacting to the withdrawal from sugar and processed carbs. Google it and see if the symptoms match how you feel. It can be reassuring to know that it's 'normal' Grin

Mrsmartell08 · 10/08/2017 18:46

I've been a complete carby twat :(
Not helped by the fact dh is finding it really easy and has lost 18lbs
Grrr

oatcakesandcheeseplease · 10/08/2017 18:51

Wombattoo I've just googled carb flu and yep, that sounds like me - brain fog, irritability- shouted at DH twice today! A bit lethargic too and headache and nausea. It recommends water, salt, stock cubes, salty soups and fat.

ragz134 · 10/08/2017 18:53

Thoroughly enjoyed my steak and cheesey creamed greens. Will try to stop there - strawberries and cream are calling me, but I really want to stick to the program.

c4 my gods, that sounds bloody awful. I hope you recover quickly.
mrsmartell pick yourself up and start again. Also, men always do better on this WOE for some reason, plus they always lose weight faster than women anyway. Our bodies like to hang on to the fat in case we make babies to feed!

BIWI · 10/08/2017 18:54

@oatcakesandcheeseplease

Hi all its my 4th day of bc and I'm getting into the way of it although I've got a headache 🤕 is it withdrawal of carbs or sugar?

Carbs and sugar are the same thing!!!

And yes, it's definitely withdrawal. Keep drinking the water, make sure you're eating plenty of fat, and you also need to keep your electrolytes in balance - which means sodium, magnesium and potassium.

For sodium, make sure you're using salt in your cooking and on your food. Sources of magnesium and potassium include salmon, avocado, spinach and natural (full fat) yoghurt.

You should be through it in the next day or so.

@Mrsmartell08 it's a sad fact that men lose more weight, faster than women. Bastards Grin

Grin I'm really please for him but....sigh.
Maybe the school hols weren't the best ti.e to start?? 😣😂
I'm very cross with myself

cathyandclare · 10/08/2017 19:07

Grin @BIWI

I've kept to the egg fast but wine will be taken tonight. Have had shitty day, DD got one A level result a week early and she dropped a grade, she is heartbroken and we've got a very long week to wait before the rest.

This happened with DD1 too ( although went up on remark and ended at her uni of choice) it so tough seeing them sobbing. Anyway she appears to have got a D in what she though was her best paper and an A* in her worst.

Sorry for droning on.

Anyway, have been OK carb-wise but am going to allow myself something cold and crisp and I don't mean celery!!!

HemanOrSheRa · 10/08/2017 19:42

Evening All!

Blimey C4. You are brave for sticking out with the egg fast for as long as you did Flowers.

I AM NOW ON HOLIDAY UNTIL 29TH AUGUST Grin. First day off today. Busy getting my hair cut, cleaning (why?) and making LISTS ready for the off on Monday. I have completely lost my appetite so haven't eaten all day. I've just pan fried some salmon fillets to have cold with salad later. I hope I get my appetite back. We are staying AI Confused. I'm sure I will when I don't have to cook! I'm tired and I need a rest.

It's Hot Air Balloon time here. They haven't gone up tonight (or not over us anyway) but my little dog is TERRIFIED of them Sad. She'll be spending the weekend under the dining table I expect. She's frightened of two things - hot air balloons and The Hoover Monster.

GaleBeaufort · 10/08/2017 20:04

Thanks for the buffet suggestions, I shall certainly use them. After dinner last night and again tonight I've had cravings for something sweet. It will pass won't it?

Dinner tonight was low carb chilli, grated cheese and a dollop of full fat creme fraiche. It was very tasty. Heman I used to live in Northampton and they had a hot air balloon festival in the park there every year and the park was at the bottom of our garden. I loved it unlike your poor dog.

Veryflummoxed · 10/08/2017 21:31

Right I've made some pretty poor food choices the last day or three. Not to the excess I might have done pre LCHF though so I suppose that's something. Today back on track with lunch a mini pepperami and a slice of cheese. No veg I know but I made up for it at dinner. Chicken wrapped in bacon and stuffed with Boursin served with mange tout and roast cauliflower/broccoli (lots of veg). It was lovely.

My trousers were slipping down all day which made me happy and helped set me back on track.

Thinking I might try this egg fast thing. You all seemed to stick to it amazingly well with good results. C4 I felt for you

HemanOrSheRa · 10/08/2017 21:35

I've been pretty crap too flummoxed. Not eating much really. My jeans almost fell down in Home Bargains earlier, which was nice Grin.

MOIST · 10/08/2017 21:49

Cathy. It's painful isn't it. I feel for any parent with impending exam results.

I am feeling more than a little overwhelmed with life.
Not in order......

DD2 isn't well. No idea what's going on with her but she isn't right and being ill doesn't mix with autism well. Dr next week.
Boob issue.
Vein issue
2 impending bloody ops. 2 bastard general anaesthetics.
Work. Crap interview this week. Plus supposed to be starting sort of different department and new role in October.
Going away in a week. DD2 will be difficult.
Need to write a sodding essay and presentation by first week of September.
Urgh. It's all a bit much.

Mrsmartell08 · 10/08/2017 21:51

Hugs to all who are struggling for whatever reason xx

lurknolinger · 10/08/2017 21:56

Egg fast update, having said I couldn't join the Egg fast as I was out on Tuesday and Wednesday night, Ii was keen to do it as I was a bit despondent last week having only lost 4.6 lbs during the 10 weeks of bootcamp. So decided on Monday morning to go for it. All meals were the required eggs fat and added a bit of cheese for one meal a day ( took my own food egg muffins on Tuesday night). Only exception was Wed night, went out for dinner had a HFLC meal of steak and salad it was my birthday meal so might have had one small glass of red wine so managed to stick with eggs for 8 of the 9 meals.

Result - scales were down 4.2lbs this morning (compared to 4.6 in 10 weeks!). So am very pleased with that, but will wait and see what happens as I introduce normal meals over next couple of days to see how much I go up again. Wondering how much of that is likely to be water? Well done to everyone who either completed it or are still on it.
C4 oh that sounds nasty hope you recover soon.
Distraction So sorry about your lovely dog, it really is like losing a family member Flowers
Gale egg muffins are good and can be made in advance.
Welcome to the newbies, you really have found a lovely supportive place to work out how to look after yourself.

secretsignal · 10/08/2017 22:02

2lb down on my half-arsed egg fast. Hope it's broken the stall. Will weigh in again on Monday, but weekend wine may be my undoing again

HemanOrSheRa · 10/08/2017 22:06

Arse. I forgot the 3rd thing. Fecking Fireworks. Bum.

MOIST I imagine you as a glorious hippy type wonderful person Grin. You know what I'm going to say, don't you? Get your boob and leg sorted. Please. You need to look after yourself.

I can't help with your DD2. Sorry SadFlowers.

Work? Fuck it. I've worked in Local government in a community based, very specialised support role for 25+years. It'll be fine if you just do what you do for a while. And you'll help no one by trying to do more than you can deal with. No one. Do try and distance yourself. I know it's hard Smile.

And exam shit . I could write my own thread about that. It'll be FINE. It will Smile.

HemanOrSheRa · 10/08/2017 22:11

Oh. And 3 words. Long Legged Sloggis ShockWink. Thank you MOIST. I thought Big Bloomers were good. These are AMAZING Grin. 'Specially in nude if my dress blows up. Or I fall over. Or both.

MOIST · 10/08/2017 22:15

Oh I love my long sloggi. I've taken to wearing them all the time they are so comfortable.

I so wish I was a relaxed hippy type. I do wear purple doc martens in the winter Grin

lurknolinger · 10/08/2017 22:16

Flummoxed and Herman well done on the falling down trousers. Grin Moist sorry you are feeling overwhelmed sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Herman is right, look after yourself first Flowers

MOIST · 10/08/2017 22:17

Are you in Brizzle Heman?

starsky22 · 10/08/2017 22:22

cathy I feel for your daughter about the results, I know it will be a stressful couple of weeks, but hoping it all works out for the best. I had similar, was expecting an A or B for my one of my a levels, ended up getting a D, had to go through clearing, but still ended up studying law, at a uni that I loved and am now a lawyer!

MOIST Flowers that's a lot to deal with, just take it one day at a time and try not to worry about it all, easier said than done I know!

Scales were up 2lbs this morning, am repeating to myself that it is just water retention!

Today:
B half protein roll with peanut butter
L 3 chicken thighs (they were small!) roasted celeriac, courgette & broccoli
D meatballs with tomato sauce, spinach and mozzarella
S 2 slices of cheddar

HemanOrSheRa · 10/08/2017 22:33

I am MOIST! We see the Balloon Pit. Good for us. Not so good for a scaredy pup. We get woken by the 'hoooofff' of the balloons and run and wave Grin.

Thank you linger. I went to buy a foam doughnut hair doodad which my new and fabulous (and cheap!) hairdresser recommended. They didn't have any, neither did Boots Sad. I'll try the Poundshop like she actually told me to do. Anyway, I wandered round, picking up a Bag O Shite for DS and my jeans fell down Grin.

HemanOrSheRa · 10/08/2017 22:34

Ach. We can SEE the Balloon Pit.

ilovecherries · 10/08/2017 22:49

Oatcakes, I have rarely felt as bloody miserable as I did with carb flu. And it lasted a lot longer than a few days. And the itch!! I may have mentioned this itch many times. I only kept doing because bootcamp felt like last chance saloon for me. And then one day (about week 6!) it all suddenly got better, almost overnight, my brain cleared, the itch went, my skin glowed, my hair shone, my IBS got better, my reflux disappeared, I started to fart unicorn dust and I felt (and continue to feel), better than I have felt for years.
