Welcome Kew and Gale
Flowers Distract so sorry for the loss of your beautiful boy
Loads of luck Moist

Heading into day 3 of egg fast, 2lb down, feel fine and slept for 12 hours last night, bizarre. Think I'm going to have to try something different with the eggs today, getting bored.

B: Cloud bread and marmite
L: Cheese souffle
D: Omelette

MOIST · 09/08/2017 10:18

Well.

That went about as badly as expected.

Total mind blank. About duff I actually do bloody know. What a dick.

Never mind. I'm not distraught. I actually love my job so am perfectly happy to carry on doing it.

Veryflummoxed · 09/08/2017 10:31

Moist good luck. As Wombattoo said they chose to interview you and I think it was you said you were going for a job at the same work place (apologies if that was someone else). S that adds to the positive side of them choosing to interview you. I know that must work the other way as well (if you don't get it people know) but they'll also know what you're interested in doing so it could open up other avenues. Anyway I'm sure you knew all that and I'm rambling. Good luck. Good luck.

And hello Kewcumber

Veryflummoxed · 09/08/2017 10:36

Sorry Moist hadn't finished reading the thread when I posted. Flowers

Hi Gale
Distract so sorry for your loss. Flowers

FinallyHere · 09/08/2017 11:31

There you go, Moist don't let it get you down. I agree with Very about interviews opening other avenues. I was offered my current role after being interviewed for another, quite different, one. Never did find out what the connection was, other than the same people looking for different kinds of people.

Having joined the organisation, I was soooo glad I hadn't ended up in the first role, which I had thought sounded sooo interesting. narrow squeak

Welcome, Kew and Gale, glad you found us, it's brilliant here, such knowledge, experience and willingness to share. And a woe (way of eating) which works so much better for me than anything else I have ever tried, and, believe me, I have tried and despaired atquite a few.

Sorry to hear your sad news, Distract, thinking of you.

SummerSazz · 09/08/2017 11:44

Arrrrgghh. Lost 2 posts due to dropping Mexican wifi Angry

Done v well on All Inclusive until storm hit, one too many drinks and seduced by lasagne (about 6cm square!!) and chips (about 10!!). After 7 months of nothing like this food the results on my guts were, errrm, interesting ShockBlushGrin

moist well done, I hate interviews

distract Flowers

SummerSazz · 09/08/2017 11:47

Welcome newbies - It's a revolutionary woe. After years of low fat dieting the food tastes SO good. I love FF yoghurt, courgette and aubergine moussaka and cauliflower tabbouleh just to mention a few.

Well done to the egg fasters - am contemplating this when I get home but go camoing 3 days later

OldBooks · 09/08/2017 12:35

Tucking into egg meal no 8: 2 HB eggs mashed in butter and cream cheese. Yum.

Sorry it didn't go so well Moist

Summer fear of, um, explosions is what keeps me on the straight and narrow!

Kewcumber · 09/08/2017 13:49

BIWI I'm already not really hungry between meals. I really eating in anticipation of being hungry or becasue - thats what you do isn;t it, snack between meals.

If I'm prepared and have something proper and enjoyable for meals it's not so bad.

I made fat head rolls last night becasue I find if I have one then I can eat half for lunch and half for a snack with whatever topping I have (or just butter).

The upside is that I am enjoying my food which I hope means I can stick with it even if weight loss is slow. I have mostly already lost sugar/wheat cravings though I can't beleive that eating this much cheese can possible be good for me! No doubt it will calm down after years of beleiving that cheese was a big no no.

I'm starting to vary my proteins a bit more so chicken eggs fish and I've just bought some delicious looking Wagyu burgers in Costco so it's cheese burger with caesar salad tonight (DS can have a bun, I'm not that mean!).

The irony is that as I've decided to get as much of my carbs allowance in veg and berries as I can, I think I might actually be eating more veg than I was before! Added to the amount of cooking from scratch and the scarcity of ready meals my diet is undoubtedly healthier now.

Kewcumber · 09/08/2017 13:51

distract one of the great tragedies of having pets is not having them for a human life but only for a dog/cat/ano life.

I'm really sorry you and your family are dealing with it now.

oatcakesandcheeseplease · 09/08/2017 19:21

Hi, it's quiet on here ....
Starsky22 I'm doing the chicken and chorizo meal that you told me about - can't wait it looks like it will be delicious

ilovecherries · 09/08/2017 20:00

Evening All Grin

How is everyone? Welcome to all the new people. You've found your people. Moist, sorry your interview didn't go so well, but always a bonus if you still love the actual job you do. One of the big mistakes I made in my career was moving away f I'm working with 'real people' in the interests of career building. Never loved work as much again (even though the pay was better!)

Sorry to hear about your dog, Distract. Losing a pet really is like a death in the family, but rarely acknowledged as such.

Went into my GP today to pick up a prescription, and bumped into my GP in the car park. He said good morning as he went past, then turned round and said 'Cherries, is that you?' Haven't seen him for three months and while I had to believe nearly two stone off must be noticeable, that's the first real affirmation of it. Well that, and 3-4 dress sizes!

C4pinkwheels · 09/08/2017 20:17

Moist sorry your interview didn't go as well as you'd hopedFlowers

Distracto what kind of day have you had? I've been thinking about you.

Welcome newbies

Another day of egg torture here

B 2 hb eggs with butter
L 2 scrambled duck eggs with spring onions
D 2 fried eggs with celery and cream cheese

Having breezed this woe without cravings or too much carb creep I have found the eggblast torture but I haven't quit because that would make me a pussy. I've had terrible cravings, headache and apparently grumpiness too.

Namaste Bitches

OldBooks · 09/08/2017 20:29

ilove is this the spectacularly unhelpful GP who drove you to despair refusing to help you? It must have been so hard not to do a little "up yours" dance at him! And gosh 2 stone must definitely be showing, I am getting comments at 1 stone so 2 - blimey!!

C4 you are so bloody minded, which is probably a good thing considering the challenges you face. I am going to reintroduce something green to my diet tomorrow - I haven't struggled with the egg fast but I do miss veggies!

MOIST · 09/08/2017 20:31

Unsurprisingly I didn't get the job. Which is fine.

I am all egged out. I want fruit.

And I smell weird.

OldBooks · 09/08/2017 21:13

Egg fast CRISIS! I have run out of eggs!

Have 2 HB for lunch (with avocado) and will have to buy some on my way in to work, for microwave scramble (with asparagus).

Distractotron · 09/08/2017 21:18

MOIST well that sounds like the best result then, and it's all good practice 😊did you get feedback?
C4 and everyone, thank you for all the good wishes. You're all lovely Flowers Kew, yes it is tragic, my eldest has decided our next pet should be a tortoise, with that in mind! I don't think I could face having another dog tbh. He was with me before the kids, it's been a long time. We went and got some labrador cuddles from my aunt's dogs today and it cheered the kids up a bit. Spent most of today in a bit of a daze due to being totally drained from yesterday. Starting to come round a bit now. The kids have been having long chats about what Tricky will get up to now he is a ghost/in dog heaven. Bless.
I had omelette for breakfast and lunch but for tea I went completely MAD and had a ham salad. And have picked at the chorizo from the pulled pork mac and cheese DP made for him and the kids. Crazy times.
One of the nicest things I have had while doing this WOE was some frozen raspberries, blitzed with almond milk into a kind of melted slushy pudding. It was so sharp and sweet that I have thought about it repeatedly since I made it. I don't feel deprived of sweet things, but that was lovely. Need to get the ingredients in.

RaininSummer · 09/08/2017 21:23

This horrible damp weather feels like autumn and is giving me bad cake and and chocolate cravings . very annoying as have been solo good on this woe. Only given in to two squares of dark choc so far but now worrying how I will cope in winter.

GaleBeaufort · 09/08/2017 21:42

Today I've had
B 3 egg omlette cooked in butter with mushrooms
L Greek salad with feta, olives and lots of olive oil
D 2 Portobello mushrooms stuffed with fried bacon, boursin and topped with mozzarella then baked in the oven. I had them with a green salad, some coleslaw and mayo.

I have tried really hard with my water today but have only managed just over two litres when really I should be looking at having four. I think I am going to have to build myself up to having that amount because I'm not a big drinker normally (hazard of the job) so this is a huge increase for me. I do have a little bit of a headache and a craving for something sweet but I'm just going to ignore it and drink more water. Sorry you didn't get the job moist but at least you're in a job you love.
Distracto when our dog died two years ago we swore we wouldn't rush into getting another but the house was so empty without one we got a puppy after only 5 months. That was two years ago and I would say it is the best thing we did....although ask me again when she's running around the garden with knickers in her mouth that she's nicked out of the laundry basket!

starsky22 · 09/08/2017 22:29

oatcakes hope you liked it, I had the leftovers for lunch and was just as yummy heated up in the microwave, with a bit of extra cheese for good measure!

Today:
B fasting
L cheesy chicken & chorizo with spinach & sprouting broccoli
D steak with roasted celariac, asparagus & mayo

Loved the roasted celeriac, was hoping it would get things moving, as suggested on here, but nothing yet!

ragz134 · 09/08/2017 23:26

Egg fast day three completed. Even did a karate session this evening, after trying to talk myself out of it all day. Day 3 hasn't been too bad, though I had to come to bed as DH is eating homemade pizza (that I made earlier and managed to only eat the topping off one small slice - mostly cheese so I counted it as a cheese serving!).

Planning one normal meal tomorrow of steak with creamy, cheesey spinach. As well as two egg meals.
I may do the egg fast again when I get back from Scotland, it seems like an effective may to get carbs low again after they've been creeping in!

OldBooks · 10/08/2017 07:02

Well I weighed this morning after 3 days egg fast ... 2lbs lost. Is it daft to be a bit disappointed? Still I need to focus on positives. It has stopped carb creep in the form of snacking, overeating at meals, and in particular a habit I had got into of having chocolate and cream or an almond milk hot chocolate nearly every night. I was also slipping on the water intake and definitely need to keep that up. I also feel good, I think I can tolerate very low carbs, in fact I feel like my body is happier with a low intake (something to do with PCOS/insulin resistance?)

The only thing still bothering me is the near endless period. I have been bleeding probably 80% of BC. I had 4 weeks, then a week and a half off, now approaching 2 weeks again. It makes me tired, achey and more likely to crave.

Distractotron · 10/08/2017 07:20

Gale - aaah, naughty pup! What breed is she? 😍
I'm actually not supposed to have pets in our rented house. It wasn't supposed to be a long term move, and he was staying with my dad temporarily, but as DP doesn't want to move right now (our 1st house together, kids not his) we just didn't tell the landlord Tricky had moved in. We definitely couldn't consider another dog, especially as we are both working.
Starting to feel a bit better about making the decision though. He really was struggling and I was worrying about him all the time. Kept hearing stories about dogs' back legs going or their suddely being in pain. He had lipomas all over, and one was threatening to dislocate his right leg. He was really struggling to stand, walk, lie down... I'm glad he went when he was so peaceful. He was so calm and not anxious at all. Such a good boy.
Ok I'll stop derailing the thread now! Back to LCHF.
I have a problem. I'm not actually losing weight right now. I did the egg fast, and yesterday my weight was lower than today. I had 2 large glasses of red wine on Tue night after sticking to the egg fast all day, then I had omelettes again yesterday with a ham salad for tea. I had a glass and a half of wine last night too. But I feel like I'm generally not progressing as well as I could be /have done in the past. I'm drinking loads of water and am only having the odd glass of wine/diet g&t here and there. I'm not eating anything other than fresh food (96% maybe), and not deviating from low carb meals. Plus am not as hungry as when eating carbs (obvs) so only eating 3 meals a day, which is plenty. So that's good, but I feel like I'm progressing very slowly. I'm 38 soon. Maybe that's a factor? Going to have a google and see if I can find anything useful. Will report back if I do 😊

Distracto she's a golden retriever, totally adorable..luckilyGrin

GaleBeaufort · 10/08/2017 08:00

My DS will be 5 on Monday so we are having a little party for him on Sunday with friends and family. I have decided to do a buffet of full of lovely low carb stuff:
sausages
chicken drumsticks
lamb koftas
cold meats
cheeses
salad
coleslaw
french bread (for those of them not low carbing it)

any other suggestions would be gratefully received.
