Morning all. Very excited to hear the final scores!

Here's the Spreadsheet for its last outing this Bootcamp

We'll keep this chat thread going, and when it finishes, we'll start a new one so that we can keep the support going until next Bootcamp.

You can also just use cheddar instead of baby bel; it's not as stringy and gooey as baby bel and is more crunchy. I just can't learn to love pork scratchings so I get my crunch fix from cheddar. I've been thinking of putting exploded cheee into the dehydrator to make crisps .... but I always scoff it all before I get around to it...!

C4pinkwheels · 07/08/2017 14:03

I fell off the egg fast before breakfast when DH brought me a cup of tea with milk and I drank it before thinking about the eggs!

B 1 hb egg with butter
L 2 scrambled duck eggs
D cream cheese pancakes with spinach

I will weigh tomorrow

oatcakesandcheeseplease · 07/08/2017 14:29

Hi everyone.
I'm coming in at a late stage but I thought I'd try and make a start - I'm reading the info on spreadsheets and finding it really helpful, Ive realised that I've done this kind of diet or similar before and liked it - although for various reasons like not bothering to maintain it afterwards or being pig headed I put the weight back on. I've got to see it as a life change and make it a way of life

I'm a more mature lady i.e. past the menopause and a granny and I supposes I've just let myself go (as my mum would say) I've had a couple of difficult years of my mums Alzheimer's getting worse to the point that she's now in a nursing home. We've moved house too! I see my weight gain as being a symptom of my upheaval and stress of the past few years and I now I need to spend some time getting myself right again

So .... here goes ..., wish me luck ..... is it really no chocolate or no wine??? I can see the point of this and it makes sense - do people ease up after a few weeks or have wine and chocolate at weekends?

Veryflummoxed · 07/08/2017 14:36

From one more mature lady to another good luck oatcakes

FinallyHere · 07/08/2017 14:46

Another mature lady here, too oatcakes

I didn't have any chocolate at all for the first two weeks. For a couple of days (can't remember how long, i think I've just blocked it out) all I could think about was something sweet. Then one morning, when i woke up, the craving had disappeared. It had taken my sweet tooth with it, hurrah.

Now, i always have Lindt 90% or Montezuma 100% in the house. I have two squares on Saturdays and on Sundays, if i fancy them. Sometimes, if i am busy, i just forget. Took a bar on holiday, and forgot to even unpack it. Its all very, very different.

YoLoZammo · 07/08/2017 14:48

oatcakes I now I need to spend some time getting myself right again

Yes. This resonates with me and many others I'm sure. Good luck and we are all behind you.

oatcakesandcheeseplease · 07/08/2017 14:55

Thank you 😊 a quick query. What about pulses and beans - like haricots?

OldBooks · 07/08/2017 14:58

No pulses oatcakes. Very dark choc is OK in moderation.

ilovecherries · 07/08/2017 15:30

Another mature person here. Humongous birthday looming. I didn't eat chocolate at all for the first 5 weeks, now I have the very occasional square of 99%. No alcohol either (which certainly helps, I think), because DH and I declared 2017 a dry year in advance of the humongous birthdays. I'm slightly embarrassed at how much better we both feel without it.

Distractotron · 07/08/2017 15:45

Ok, so this is my 2nd day on the egg fast and I'm feeling a bit tired and achey. I thought at first this was because I have been doing more exercise, but I'm starting to suspect carb flu due to achiness and the strict nature of the last 2 days' diet. I'll be a bit surprised if it is that, as I thought I'd already been pretty strict!
Will stick with it though. Any tips appreciated!

Distractotron · 07/08/2017 15:45
  • I'm drinking a huge amount of water already 😊
Mrsmartell08 · 07/08/2017 15:48

I'm 45 in October
And lercme tell you middle age spread is real :(

Mrsmartell08 · 07/08/2017 15:49

I've just ordered some magnesium spray as I find the tablets hard to stomach
I shall report back!

ilovecherries · 07/08/2017 17:52

I've eaten some lovely meals on this BC, but three scrambled eggs with 40gms of butter came to pretty near perfection. I'm sure I'd sicken of it fairly quickly, but today it felt absolutely luxurious.

StuntNun · 07/08/2017 18:03

Distract I feel like that when I go below 10g carbs per day. I'm sure it will pass in a day or two.

ragz134 · 07/08/2017 18:22

Just made the snicker doodle crêpes from Ibreatheimhungry, I feel really sick now! Next time, I'll use less sweetener. They were very sickly and 2 eggs worth was too big. Have only managed 4 eggs so far today, but they were large ones. Also had a babybel while out. I will try to eat more eggs later, but can't promise it. Think I'll avoid sweet recipes for the rest of the fast!

10:30am 2 scrambled eggs with butter and cheese
2pm babybel
6pm snicker doodle crêpes

85% fat 15% protein. About 1000 calories.

MOIST · 07/08/2017 18:29

I had a HB egg for breakfast (on the go st 10am). Just had my lunch(18.90!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). 3 eggs scrambled. With a chunk of butter.

Knackered.

MOIST · 07/08/2017 18:29

18.00. NOt 18.90.

Humph.

oatcakesandcheeseplease · 07/08/2017 18:53

Hi thanks for the welcome everyone.
I'm still reading through everything and trying to get my head round it. I'm looking forward to getting going - I had tinned mackerel in oil added to a pan of leaks and some chilli paste for lunch, and as DH is doing one of his 5:2 fast days today (5:2 is not my cuppa at all!) I'm having salmon in oil and lemon with chill (again) and loads of veg tonight. Does this sound ok?

Can I ask, if you're eating all these eggs - do people get constipated - if so what do you do to prevent it happening on a low carb diet?

Distractotron · 07/08/2017 18:54

Thanks Stuntnun.
I've just made a 5 egg omelette with the last of my weighed-out cheese from this morning. With approx 5 tbsps of butter. Was expecting to be bored of the same thing for all meals but tbh I've been so hungry because of being out doing stuff with the kids with the kids - I've looked forward to every omelette so far!
Frank's hot sauce has been a gamechanger on tonight's dinner, though. I really want to make the buffalo omelette now.

Is anyone going to make the 'pasta' recipe from the I breathe I'm hungry website? It looks great!

Wolfcub · 07/08/2017 19:13

Delurking again because I remember a discussion about nice Somerset beaches and I was wondering if someone could remind me of their recommendations. We are hear on holidays. It dh is from Weston and trying to persuade him that there's a better beach to be had is an uphill struggle

Mrsmartell08 · 07/08/2017 19:27

Oh gawd
I've had flapjacks and a caramel waffle thing
Why??
I didn't even enjoy them!
Grrrrr
Back on it tomorrow - I have a dental appt so won't be eating much at least

ilovecherries · 07/08/2017 19:56

Oatcakes, re constipation, I find that I'm normally eating so much green veg and drinking so much water it's not a massive problem (the egg thing is just a short term thing a few of us are doing to either get back on track or kickstart a stall). Having said that, the first few weeks till I got used to this woe, I used physillium husks from Holland and Barrett - though I never needed them at the suggested dose - I just took two with a glass of water at bedtime.

ilovecherries · 07/08/2017 19:58

I kinda messed up my egg fast today because I forgot that you were meant to eat an egg within 30 minutes of getting up, so I fasted as usual. I had my 3 scrambled eggs at 2pm, and I'm still full, dinner has been and gone. I'm hoping that's ok?

FinallyHere · 07/08/2017 20:17

Hi oatcakes I haven't tried the egg fast. Normal bootcamp for me includes lots of water and lots of spinach, broccoli and raw white cabbage, so my digestion is in fine fettle. If I am away from home, I sometimes need a bit if extra help, for which my recently discovered magic solution is roast celeriac.

Chop all the peel off, then chop into roughy chip shop sized pieces. Toss in a mix of olive oil and coconut oil (or whatever) and roast at on the top shelf on the highest setting. A shallot is a fine addition. Twenty minutes before the end, add chopped chorizo. Sprinkle with thyme when you take it out.
