I would ask a health professional as I believe thatsimilar to BMIthis advice is genetic and doesn't take into account varieties of body shape.

The concern, I imagine, is how much fat is stored around the midsection and crowding the internal organs. I say this as an hourglass who has become a pear.

There are toning exercises that can help with the midsection and make the muscles and abdominal core tighter. Pilates comes to mind, and I've heard interesting things about hula hooping!

ClearEyesFullHearts · 28/07/2017 15:52

Very creative,ilovecherries

delft, sorting is my therapy these days. I'm nearly finished with a great project I was working on (think needing to find a home for the contents of approximately 20 moving-sized boxes of crap) and am thinking I will take a rest afterward. Then my eye turns toward a cupboard and the Demented De-Clutter Fever takes over once more...

delftblue · 28/07/2017 19:49

It's very very satisfying isn't it? It makes me feel great.

I have a big mound of stuff to sell on ebay so this will rumble on for a while but I cleared quite a lot of things today. Amazing what you keep hold of then never use.

Stinking weather all day here. Had lamb tagine with cauliflower tonight. It was really nice.

wombattoo · 28/07/2017 20:04

Welcome back delft Smile

ilovecherries · 28/07/2017 20:31

B: 2 scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and spinach
L: a sliver of ham from the inside of a sandwich then a bag of salad leaves with olive oil in a service station
D: pan fried salmon, salad with oil, a few rasps and a spoonful of cream.

MOIST · 28/07/2017 21:12

Evening all

B. Cream coffee and pork belly
L. Meatloaf (pork, beef, mushrooms, Parmesan, onion, courgette) and cauliflower cheese
D. Meatloaf and chard fried in butter with a dash of ricotta.

I think I've overdosed on meat recently.

starsky22 · 28/07/2017 21:19

Was a bit snacky this evening while waiting for dinner, not sure why, as wasn't that hungry, but been tired all day and needed something.

B bacon, mushrooms & eggs
L indian spiced lamb & saag paneer
D roasted chicken leg, cauliflower cheese, cabbage & leeks
S 1 sausage, small slice of pork belly, teaspoon of peanut butter

Mimosa1 · 28/07/2017 21:38

wombat thanks for the tip on ketostix, I still had time to cancel the Amazon order so took your advice :)

bimi thanks for the note on the diet sodas. Think I need another read of the spreadsheets.

Feeling a bit bored and discouraged today as I e been weighing regularly, and understandably losses have slowed since the first week, but must keep at it. I have a weekend away with a dear friend (who happens to be very slim and stylish) at the end of Sept at a gorgeous hotel with a pool, so would love to feel better about myself by then.
On a more cheerful note, like the other declutterers on the thread, I'm on a mission while I'm on mat leave to get rid of a lot of stuff around the house. I started doing some eBaying last week, very satisfying!

prettybird · 28/07/2017 21:48

Having a 48 hour egg fast. It's certainly put the kibbosh on my albeit low carb snacking when bored rather than hungry. I can eat if I want to - but have to go to the trouble of cooking something (although I do now have 2 hard boiled eggs if I do really want a snack).

So far today, I've had scrambled eggs with cream (and started in plenty if butter), 2 soft boiled eggs with butter and salt and an omelette (again in plenty of butter). 6 eggs in total so far, with 2 hard boiled eggs ready if I need a snack but I think I'll be ok for the rest of the evening.

Must go and have some more water Smile

Determined to get that stubborn last pound off so that I can achieve my target of a stone off by the end of Boot Camp - and book myself that cut'n'colour Smile

Grah0SoontobeaFatty · 28/07/2017 22:27

Welcome Back Delf, Jim any one heard from C4 did she end up staying home?

starsky22 Strange I got snacky last night to fortunately have the whisps -- 100% Parmesan Cheese Crisps carb =1 gram per 15. can only eat about 6.

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 29/07/2017 08:36

Hi everyone. I've got to get through an afternoon tea later. I won't have the choice to just eat sandwich fillings etc. Plan is to eat a couple of brown sandwiches and hope it doesn't do too much harm.

B - nothing
L - dreaded afternoon tea
D - no idea, fritatta maybe

Wish me luck bc-ers.

prettybird · 29/07/2017 08:44

Hippa - maybe you shouldn't skip breakfast - or at least have a HFLC lunch so that you're not starving when you go to the afternoon tea. That way it will be easier to resist just giving in to temptation and having more than a couple of sandwiches.

Remember, what you do have at the tea, eat mindfully and appreciate it. Part of the problem of the "normal" carb obsessed diet is that people just wolf it down Hmm

OldBooks · 29/07/2017 08:55

hippa why can't you have fillings & cream, or order something else?

Weight this morning was 15'7, lowest yet seen! Brings total loss to 12lbs Grin very pleased!!

ASDismynormality · 29/07/2017 09:26

hippa. Could you perhaps ask if strawberries and cream is an option?

New low on the scales this morning and I have finally hit the 15's, even if it goes back up to 16 by official weigh day Monday it was good to see!

Cherrypi · 29/07/2017 10:04

Gone a bit off plan this week due to a few meals and snacks prepared for me and a child with a vomiting bug. Decided to eat some biscuits to cheer me up but you know what it didn't work. I didn't really enjoy them and they just made me hungry. Back on it today despite reading a whole paragraph against low carb in the latest James Wong book :-( There was one point he made that stuck with me. Could we sustain a whole population eating low carb? Meat using more land than wheat as it were.

C4pinkwheels · 29/07/2017 10:06

Morning campers, sorry I've been AWOL for a few days, had a huge skid related fight with DH and have been licking my wounds ever since. There is a family wedding abroad in September and skids have been invited. We had decided to make it a bit of a holiday and stay for a week. DH has booked skids into self catering house and us a few doors away. They will be totally reliant on DH for lifts to supermarket/eating out, they will wings and whine about wanting to spend time with DH alone and I will be left sitting in some remote area with nothing to do and nobody to talk to so I would rather stay at home or just go for the weekend, get the wedding done and come home. DH keeps saying we will have a lovely time and he is going to talk to the skids about not being horrible to me, ignoring me etc but I know he won't do it.
So I'm not speaking to him, he's trying to be extra nice to me, he leaves at 4am tomorrow for a week overseas with business.

But I haven't been a carby twat, KOKO although I was very tempted to eat cake yesterday when I was out with my PA and DIL, made do with a black coffee instead.

Food today

B yogurt and berries
L scrambled eggs & bacon
D chicken, chorizo and oven roast veg

Namaste bitches #myfatcanpissrightoff

C4pinkwheels · 29/07/2017 10:07

Whinge not wings

Veryflummoxed · 29/07/2017 10:16

C4 sorry hope it works out.

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 29/07/2017 10:49

Guys, I cannot not have the afternoon tea, or order something else, it's not an option I'm afraid. I've had some eggs, as it's not until 2.15pm.

secretsignal · 29/07/2017 10:55

Hippa these unavoidable situations will crop up from time to time. Just choose the best options you can, eat mindfully, enjoy the occasion and get back on it tonight. It will be fine.

ASDismynormality · 29/07/2017 11:00

In that situation hippa just accept you are going off track for just one meal and enjoy it! As secret said these situations happen from time to time.

BIWI · 29/07/2017 11:06

@Cherrypi

Could we sustain a whole population eating low carb? Meat using more land than wheat as it were.

The implication of this is that if you're low carbing somehow you'll eat more meat. That's not the case. I don't eat any more meat than I did before I started low carbing - I just eat less carby veg or rice/pasta than I did before!

And it's perfectly possible to low carb and eat a vegetarian diet - especially if you're low carbing for life/health rather than solely focusing on losing weight.

prettybird · 29/07/2017 14:50

BIWI makes the very valid point that we shouldn't be eating any more meat - we are just swapping the proportions of carbs and fat - and making fat our primary energy source rather than sugar metabolised carbohydrates

If anything, less land would be needed to be given over to meat production as all those fatty cuts which at the moment are unpopular and may well be discarded should become more popular. And we can enjoy more of a roast chicken as we are choosing to eat the skin.

And as the obesity epidemic diminishes, less food is required overall, as our appetites move back into balance and we aren't struggling with sugar addiction.

However, the food industry won't like it - all that fructose and corn syrup that they're adding to processed food like drug peddlers is big business Hmm They'll be resisting all the way Hmm

ClearEyesFullHearts · 29/07/2017 15:28

To add to thisand it might be a point of contentionremember that we lot are doing extreme low carb.

I'm a fan of everyone low-carbing to a degree, but those at a healthy weight can and do up their carb content yet still maintain.

No one is advocating the elimination of carbohydrates. The real battle is against processed foods, additives, and sugar leading to problems with health.

When I'm at a healthy weight I will enjoy the occasional burrito, I will partake of my world famous** spaghetti carbonara, I will quite possibly fall face first into a vat of tortilla chips and homemade salsa.

What I will not do is have a bagel or sugary cereal for breakfast, followed by a sandwich or cold pasta mix for lunch, and finish off with potatoes/pasta/rice-based dish for dinner (and snacking on crisps and sweets throughout the day). No.

Namaste, bitches.
