It's me Porridgetits - thanks for the nice welcome! I had thought of changing my name if joining this thread anyway. It was a bit too offensive to keep seeing or referring to (and far too carby, obvs!).
As I say I've been following the 10 threads and getting inspiration, plus enjoying seeing all the fab photos! I've tried fathead pizza but found it a bit much. I usually eat quite simple meals and have tried this WOE a few times so am familiar with the carb flu!! Just had an omelette with butter and cheese for breakfast. I am definitely not in ketosis as had a major wobble yesterday (crisps and icecream, due to too much red wine!). So I have all that achiness etc to look forward to, plus am working this weekend! Oh well.
Aim for this week is to plan meals properly and try to cut down on cheese. It's definitely not good for me and I tend to fall back on it when hungry. Hope you all have a good day Smile

ilove they feel judged somehow I think, like you are showing them up with your virtuous abstinence. Like people who get defensive when you say you are doing a new woe. "Oh yes I was going to look into xyz woe too, oh and you know I don't eat bread hardly ever you know". Yeah, I wasn't competing with you for best dieter. It goes back to that moral thing you were mentioning where being overweight is somehow a failing of character rather than a failing of body chemistry.

YoLoZammo · 28/07/2017 08:16

Morning everyone. Welcome to the club distracto.

Today I shall be facing major challenges to my resolve. I am not planning to let myself down. I shall have a little alcohol though but intend to eat all the right things. Wish me luck.

I'd like to report a NSV. I'm now thinner front facing than I am sideways. I used to have to turn and edge through tight seat gaps on the train. Now I walk through them straight. It makes a nicer mirror experience when getting dressed in the morning, but if I turn sideways it's a nasty shock! Belly is getting smaller, slowly, so it's all getting there. I'm waiting for the chin twins to gain independence . Now that will be good.

Craftypuss · 28/07/2017 08:20

Oh my. Just did an early weigh-in, as we're off on our hols today, so won't be able to weigh on Monday. 186.1!!!!! My woosh has finally come!!!!!! I re-weighed 3 times, couldn't believe my eyes. Takes my bootcamp loss to over a stone. What a way to start my holiday! Grin
Now to work on at least maintaining that while we're away. Staying with family, so there will be some carbs and alcohol, but I'm going to stick to LCHF, though not bootcamp, as much as possible. I'm going to think of it as a practice session for maintenance when I finally reach a healthy weight - only about 3 stones to go now!
I do have some entertainment to look forward to - I shall be seeing family and friends that I've not seen for a year - a year I've spent low carbing. Should be fun! Shock Grin

JiminnyCricket · 28/07/2017 08:51

Morning all Grin

Sorry I've been MIA, my week off is going really well and I miraculously haven't been a carby twat.

This weekend will be tough, I'm at a hen do tonight and then a wedding tomorrow Confused then ANOTHER wedding next weekend!

I called my PT earlier in the week and cancelled all my gym sessions this week Blush I just need a week at home to myself, which is what I've had. I turned my phone off and basically went off grid and it's fine me the world of good. PT agreed it's what I needed and set me the challenge of walking 5k a day for 5 days, which I've done!

Went out for lunch with MIL yesterday which was fun, she hasn't seen me for a few weeks and really noticed the weight loss and was really nice about it too. She loves my wedding dress too.

My plan of attack for the hen do (it's a meal and drinks) is slim line tonic and gin (I'm driving so good excuse not to have loads) and maybe having steak which is usually a pretty safe bet?

The wedding tomorrow is going to be tougher. No menus have been sent out so I'm hoping it's a buffet!

BIWI · 28/07/2017 08:57

@Mimosa1

One thing I'm massively struggling with is giving up the Diet Coke. I find i still crave something sweet after a meal, etc and it hits that spot. Very hard to give up!!! So far it's not impinged on weight loss but still, I know it's not good for me.

It's not only that it's not good for you, it's more that on Bootcamp we're trying to break the hold that sweet things have on us - so it's really important that you drop this.

And also, there's some suggestion that our bodies can react to sweeteners in the same way that they do to sugar, so it could impact on weight loss.

I know you're new to low carbing - and welcome, by the way Grin - but it's really important that you try and kick this habit.

@delftblue love the new name!

Welcome back, and I'm sorry you felt that you couldn't post here. But glad you're here again. Good luck with the GP - will be interesting to hear.

Jiminy either call and ask about wedding food or, if you don't want to bother the bride, bring your own food/snacks or eat before you go.

You can prepare for this in a way that will keep you firmly on track. Please don't make excuses or plan to be a carby twat. Or, if you do want to be a carby twat, at least own it! Wink

Mimosa if you're drinking the amount of water you're meant to, the Diet Coke consumption will fall off dramatically. There's just no room!

ASDismynormality · 28/07/2017 09:16

delft. Lovely to see you back and really pleased to hear you have better accommodation sorted.

jiminny. Hope you are able to make choices you are happy with at your events and lovely to hear your mil was so positive this time.

ilovecherries · 28/07/2017 09:21

Random question - where exactly is one's waist? For measuring purposes, I've been heading for the smallest bit above the hips, looking straight on in the mirror, which is about an inch and a half above my belly button. Does that sound right? If so, I appear to have lost 6 inches from that area in 10 weeks. Well, I suppose I've lost 6 inches from in anyway, whether it's my waist or not! but always wondered where you should be measuring for a waist/height ratio.

ASDismynormality · 28/07/2017 09:24

ilove. When I go for my diabetes assessment the practitioner asks me to put two fingers sideways above my belly button and she measures above that.

OldBooks · 28/07/2017 09:45

I have always measured around my belly button Blush So where are my hips? I expect I am doing them wrong too.

Mind you so long as you do the same place every time it will still show progress

ilovecherries · 28/07/2017 10:16

Thanks ASD, I'm probably more of less on target then Smile. Old books, I'm never sure of hips either. Should they take in the fattest part of my bum. What about my overhang? Etc etc. Really pleased about my waist though - still got about another 6 inches to go there, but def heading in a good direction.

OldBooks · 28/07/2017 11:29

Yes exactly, do I include the arse and the flabby lower belly? How does one measure one's arse Hmm ?

I am wearing my size 14 top today. I don't think I have worn a 14 since school. It's a little tight and the fabric is stretchy and probably it's really a 16 thanks to vanity sizing but I don't care! Size 14!

ragz134 · 28/07/2017 11:45

I measure hips under my belly, around my pelvic bones. I measure my widest belly and my narrowest, so I can see progress. For waist to height I'm okay on my natural waist line but my belly is still over and that's the bit I want gone!

ilovecherries · 28/07/2017 12:03

Hm, I think I need a diagram. Do you mean lift my CS overhang out of the way? And measure round my bikini line? I'm not sure any of my abdominal landmarks are in the right place at the moment!

ragz134 · 28/07/2017 12:19

Yes, under the overhang for hips. My natural waist is quite high and my too of my thighs are wider than my hips, so I'm not much help either!

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 28/07/2017 12:20

Oi ilove, this isn't a parking thread, haha.

I'm still going, back on Jillian Michaels now after my holiday. Really worked hard today.

Food:
B - scrambled egg
L - red leicester salad
D - turkey thigh curry & cauliflower rice

OldBooks · 28/07/2017 12:43

Diagram Grin

Week 10 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Our last week!
ilovecherries · 28/07/2017 13:08

That diagram needs landmarks! Belly buttons, CS overhang and boobs would be a good start Grin I think I've been measuring my hips too high though. I've been selecting a point half way between belly button and pubic bone, OVER the overhang. This is complicated.

OldBooks · 28/07/2017 13:20

OK here's another

Week 10 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Our last week!
starsky22 · 28/07/2017 13:26

I've always measured my waist as my smallest part, which is a couple of inches over the limit they set, however it is coming down and so I thought I was ok.

However, I was reading this on the NHS website yesterday:

^To measure your waist:
find the bottom of your ribs and the top of your hips
wrap a tape measure around your waist, midway between these points
breathe out naturally before taking the measurement
Regardless of your height or BMI, you should try to lose weight if your waist is:
94cm (37ins) or more for men
80cm (31.5ins) or more for women
You are at very high risk and you should contact your GP if your waist is:
102cm (40ins) or more for men
88cm (34ins) or more for women^

When I measure my waist this way, which is just above my bellybutton, I am 38in! Which means I am 4in over the 'at very high risk' limit!
I am now within the healthy BMI range (although only just) and am starting to fit in some size 12 clothes, so am a bit surprised by this. Is it something I should be seeing by GP about?

I am losing weight and therefore hopefully inches, but can't imagine that I will lose 7 inches around my waist to get to the healthy size?!

Fat Transportation Device (patent pending) Grin

Driving home on motorway and really hungry, mainly as lunch at a client office had essentially consisted of some meagre sandwich fillings. Pulled into service station, Starbucks had very little left. Really didn't fancy anything processed like salami. Had a brain wave - popped into M&S food and bought a bag of mixed salad leaves and a small bottle of olive oil. Returned to Starbucks and hid in a dark corner with a coffee, a pilfered fork and a sachet of salt & pepper. Carefully open bag of leaves, tip in salt and pepper and a good glug of oil and enjoy. Feeling pleasantly full but not stuffed. Got my fat, my salt and my green leafy veg in one easy to eat pack Grin

ilovecherries · 28/07/2017 15:17

Moments like these I wish I atepork scratching, but they make me heave.

delftblue · 28/07/2017 15:32

Waves back at everyone!

And don't worry BIWI, I knew people would be welcoming if i was here and said 'I'm binging' but shame is a funny old thing.

It's funny too, I get so convinced I'm never losing weight. A few days binge and some newly acquired podginess has really made me go 'yeah i really had lost some weight. Damnit'. It'll come off again soon enough at least.

Still doing a major sort out. Mostly of craft materials which is v fun. It's really reminding me how good sorting stuff out is if you're feeling wobbly in life and how good buying nice craft stuff is too. Much better than a food reward.

My brain tried getting me to eat a banana smoothie for breakfast this a.m. i was good and had bacon and eggs instead and they were v nice. Sausages for lunch. I can forgive myself a bit of processed meat while i get on track.

It's so autumnal here. Is it making anyone else a bit rubbish? Definitely makes me want to comfort eat.
