Morning all

Flowers

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness once more

So the finish line is almost in sight. I see from the last thread that some of you have been struggling to stay on track - just three more weeks to go, so stay focused.

That 'it's only one piece of bread/one glass of beer' moment really isn't worth it. Been there, got the t-shirt.

If you're bored with the food - there are two things that could help you. Firstly, think back to the last time you were doing a low calorie/low fat diet - how awful was it to have to scavenge the shelves looking for something low calorie enough, and how often were you eating food that didn't actually taste that nice, but delivered only on the basis of being low calorie? Rice cakes that might as well be polystyrene ceiling tiles, for example!

And then go and read the recipe thread for some inspiration, and find something new to cook. There's nothing on there that's difficult to do.

I'd also say that I see a lot of you are trying to recreate things that are high carb - pizza or bread, for example. These things are very unlikely to be the same, or as nice, as the high carb versions. And all the time you're trying to recreate something you're missing, you're just reminding yourself that you're missing something!

So try not to do this, but focus on things that are beautifully low carb and that you can enjoy for their own taste and benefits.

Here's to a successful week for us all.

Oldbooks have you tried taking evening primrose oil supplements? I'm sure it's a good sign that your body is shedding its excess oestrogen along with the fat. Not that that is much comfort when you are bloated and hormonal!

Download the 7 minute workout app. Time efficient and every little helps. Walk more! Brisk walks with the DC. If they can't keep up put in buggy or on scooters depending on age. Chase them round the park! Play games like little mini obstacle courses with them that you set up in garden or park. Make sure you join in. Lots of little ways to increase activity.

I'm the same as you. I'm either at work or looking after DC. No inbetween. No me time. But I've snatched half an hour on my way home from work to do the gym. Forcing myself. I feel much much better for it.

I'm so far behind with this thread, keep trying to catch up, but run out of time to post and when I get a chance it's moved on again!

Went out last night and drank too much, didn't think I was too bad when I got home, but went to sleep and woke up at 3aM feeling sick, ran to the loo and spewed my guts out Envy feel horrendous this morning!
Feel like a right twat, stupid thing is I was reading about drinking alcohol whilst on a low carb diet before I went out and read that eating low carb can make you a light weight, so should have reigned it in, but was enjoying myself too much. Did stick to low carb at dinner though and didn't eat the free pizza at the party!

Just need to avoid being a hungover carby twat today!

Yesterday:
B bacon & eggs
L mussels
D prawns in tomato sauce, (scraped off most of sauce) pork belly with cabbage & green beans
Boatload of sparkling wine

C4 Sorry to hear about Spug RIP

wombattoo · 16/07/2017 10:24

I have been up all night. Old I can't give give advice on AF because I had it all removed nearly 2o years ago.
good luck Thanks

Oldbooks I have 2 young children and my day is pretty much the same as yours, don't spend time on hobbies, unless you count mumsnet as a hobbie! Having said that I do think it is important to try and get some 'me' time each week, I used to go to pilates each week, which I loved but DH new job means it's not possible at the moment, hoping that will change soon. I am trying to fit in exercise, I do the 30 day shred at home, although not as regularly as I should! I either try and keep the kids occupied with Lego or tv, or they join in with me, they think it's fun and I think it's good for them to see me exercising. I actually hate exercise and have to force myself to do it, but as far as my kids know, I love exercising and say it's fun! Wink

MOIST · 16/07/2017 11:16

I bloody can't believe I have another bloody cold brewing. That's 2 in the last 2 months. I'm blaming LCHF and feel that a very large bag of haribo would help.

only half joking

MOIST · 16/07/2017 11:52

Alternatively I could have chicken thighs, fried and chopped, with Gouda and mayonnaise in a sort of lettuce sandwich.

starsky22 · 16/07/2017 12:10

That sounds yum Moist, much better than haribo.

I've just had cream cheese pancakes, so much nicer than I was expecting, very close to the real thing and just what I needed today!

YoLoZammo · 16/07/2017 12:25

Lol moist at LCHF causing a cold. I'm brewing a nasty sore throat today. I blame DC who have been ill this last week with a cold. Bloody kids!

Another fun exercise is if you search YouTube for kids joint fitness or exercise. We have found some fun ones where grown ups and kids take part. By My DC love them. And they don't make me murderous like the toy opening ones do!

AdalindSchade · 16/07/2017 12:36

A bit of lunchspo here - salad leaves, olives, baby tomatoes, avocado and chilli halloumi with olive oil dressing

Week 8 - Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - two months almost done ...
wombattoo · 16/07/2017 12:38

Go for the thighs MOIST so much more satisfying.

C4pinkwheels · 16/07/2017 12:43

Spug has a nice spot in the flower bed and DGC are busy making a shrine, nobody is speaking to Elsa the pervert bird murderer and DH wouldn't let her into the bathroom to watch him shower.

Yesterday's food was pretty pathetic even though I'd given myself permission to take a few days off LC until my appetite comes back, so I ate:

3 crispbreads with peanut butter

Packet of pork scratchings

Chicken curry - chicken, peppers, onions, aubergine, cashew nut butter, curry paste & coconut milk

Today

B: cup of tea
L: salad- I have tons in the garden that needs eating up
D: roast belly pork for adults and stuffed lizard for the DGC (large courgette captured by cuddly toy tiger from the veg patch, stuffed with spag Bol innards and a hard boiled egg for a heart, pepperoni eyes, green bean legs) old family favourite.

DH taking me to garden centre later this afternoon and I might have a piece of cake. Mental health crisis team have been fab this week and have identified that I hardly ever leave the house and DH needs to facilitate that more. It was totally weird being in a shopping centre yesterday. I bought some clothes for baby Alfie.

I love this BC it's made my life better, thank you bitches, hopefully back to training for GNR2019 next week.

secretsignal · 16/07/2017 12:50

Old I think because my exercise bike was expensive and clutters up the lounge i feel more obliged to use it. You're right, it's a big decision though. I had a cross trainer before and I hated it but made myself do it for the same reason. Took 15 years for the bloody thing to break. I like my bike because I can have it on high resistance but still sit on my arse. 5am would be a deal breaker though.

OldBooks · 16/07/2017 12:54

Thanks for all the suggestions! I like the sound of joint videos, I think DD would like that.

Anyway it's DD2s 1st birthday party next Sunday and I want to look more yummy mummy than fat and frumpy mummy. Well, I can dream... Seriously, I want to be strict BC this week, despite my current urge to eat my body weight in double cream if hunger isn't the problem, food isn't the solution

ragz134 · 16/07/2017 13:07

I also have a sore throat brewing and am blaming my germ ridden children...

Chili con carne omelette for brunch. DH makes awesome omelettes.
Yesterday was pretty good LC wise, in fact apart from one meal on Friday, my whole week has been perfect. I'm feeling slimmer. Not much weight loss, though I did see a new low number on the scales mid week so hoping for progress for tomorrow's weigh in. KOKO everyone.

YoLoZammo · 16/07/2017 14:30

I am slightly envious of these people who have DHs that can cook. And I don't mean just bunging some sausages in the oven.

YoLoZammo · 16/07/2017 14:31

What does a chilli con carne omelette look like? I'm intrigued!

PlymouthMaid1 · 16/07/2017 15:05

I am having such a hungry day today. This has been a very rare event for me on boot camp. Have had cream and coconut oil coffee, mushrooms in cream and blue cheese with half a protein roll and butter. Still hungry so a slice of edam. An hour later still hungry so tried the peanut butter mug cake thing so yukky that my hunger is cured. Blurgh. Have aubergine lasagne to look forward to later. Probably ravenous because I had a small aldi dark choc last night. Scales had moved by a pound or so but prob up again tomorrow for the official weigh in.

Veryflummoxed · 16/07/2017 15:16

Yolo I have one and it is brilliant. Down side is sometimes I think I eat a bit more than I would do if I did all the cooking.

ragz134 · 16/07/2017 15:22

Yolo - this is what a chili omelette looks like! He makes some amazing creations... He is on Instagram as the Omelette King! He's made pizza and garlic bread omelette, fish and chips omelette, roast dinner omelette with gravy pockets... Pretty much all our leftovers end up in omelettes!

YoLoZammo · 16/07/2017 15:58

Lol ragz that's an achievement. I was wondering if the mixture was cooked in, or a thin omelette used as a sort of wrap.

flummoxed I laughed at "it is brilliant* . Could be read two ways. Grin

YoLoZammo · 16/07/2017 15:59

Aren't eggs so versatile!!

C4pinkwheels · 16/07/2017 16:41

Roast dinner omelette just sounds wrong, loving the others though.

My food plan hasn't really worked out as expected. I missed lunch as I was on the ventilator so headed off to the garden centre. I couldn't bring myself to eat cake but they had a ploughman skewer, cheese, tomato, gherkin, cheese, pickled onion, cheese, pork pie. It was yummy, left the pastry from the pie.

DH is cooking belly pork for dinner and now it's time to go back on the ventilator- welcome to my world.

NamelessEnsign · 16/07/2017 17:07

Adalind your halloumi salad looked delicious and just what I fancy today - but I have a leftover stir fry which needs eating and DH is at work so it is much easier to reheat than to cook with two children screeching at me. Especially since I need to cook them something.

I'm going to have it for lunch tomorrow!

AdalindSchade · 16/07/2017 17:18

I like the idea of omelettes with other ingredients! Going to look that page up.

Here is dinner - a bit carby as I added 1/4 tin chick peas (10g carbs) but only a spoonful of tomato purée (2.5g) and veg, a little tiny bit of stock and ghee. Good stuff
