Week 8 - Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - two months almost done ...

Morning all

Flowers

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness once more

So the finish line is almost in sight. I see from the last thread that some of you have been struggling to stay on track - just three more weeks to go, so stay focused.

That 'it's only one piece of bread/one glass of beer' moment really isn't worth it. Been there, got the t-shirt.

If you're bored with the food - there are two things that could help you. Firstly, think back to the last time you were doing a low calorie/low fat diet - how awful was it to have to scavenge the shelves looking for something low calorie enough, and how often were you eating food that didn't actually taste that nice, but delivered only on the basis of being low calorie? Rice cakes that might as well be polystyrene ceiling tiles, for example!

And then go and read the recipe thread for some inspiration, and find something new to cook. There's nothing on there that's difficult to do.

I'd also say that I see a lot of you are trying to recreate things that are high carb - pizza or bread, for example. These things are very unlikely to be the same, or as nice, as the high carb versions. And all the time you're trying to recreate something you're missing, you're just reminding yourself that you're missing something!

So try not to do this, but focus on things that are beautifully low carb and that you can enjoy for their own taste and benefits.

Here's to a successful week for us all.

Very dress pics tomorrow- I still haven't got over having to buy a size 16 while DH was with me.

GoodBadOrIndifferent · 15/07/2017 21:52

secret if you can follow a recipe you can cook!
C4 16 is my skinny size!

secretsignal · 15/07/2017 21:58

I've had a lovely night on MN tonight. I cried laughing at the pink dress from M&S thread then cried crying at the poetry thread. I'm a bit drunk. Night all x

SayrraT · 15/07/2017 22:06

c4 I know you obviously feel bad about being a size 16 but try to remember that some people are larger than that and would love to be a 16!

Grin secret

Since I'm supposed to be posting my food then I better do it!

B: prawn cocktail thingy from lidl
L: boiled eggs (x2), cucumber sticks, nkd bar, mini cathedral city cheese
D: minestrone soup (with no pasta, so veg soup? Grin)
S: flat peach (they've not been as good recently so I think I'll stop buying them)

ASDismynormality · 15/07/2017 22:09

I'd be very happy to fit in a size 16 comfortably, am very pleased that I can squeeze into some 16's!

Youcantscaremeihavechildren · 15/07/2017 23:02

I havent been able to keep up with the thread for a week or so, ive had a horrible week at work pkus some stuff goung on with DH so my eating has been bad, little meal planning and no time has meant fairly rubbish days..still list a lb this past week, taking me from 10st2 to 9st10, which is what I weighed when I got married 10 years ago! I still want to lose another st, I'm short and I don't carry any weight well.
I'm back on it now over the holidays, 3 weeks till my 40th and im determined to get a few more lbs off.

WaaWaaWaaa · 15/07/2017 23:03

Hey bitches!

C4 so sad about Spug but you've made his last 2 days so my better my love. Thanks x

Oliver - dont leave . It must be so so gard5 with your restrictions. I still believe you need allergy testing. Can you see a different gp? Can you change practice? Either way they sound SHITE

YoLoZammo · 15/07/2017 23:06

Sorry to hear about Spug C4. You gave him the best chance.

I am the world's worst gym dodger. And guess what, I've joined a gym and been going for 2 weeks. Got to break this weight loss stall somehow. I've been losing and gaining the same 2 pounds for the last month. I'm enjoying the exercise tbh. Bit of walking cardio and some arm and leg toning. Even ran a bit yesterday. My life is so hectic that I don't really have time to go at all. But I've made time. Its part of my plan to make time for me. Might do C25K. We'll see. Got to get into training for GNR19!!

I've lost inches on my waist and arms. And I no longer feel like I'm having a heart attack when i climb more than 2 flights of stairs or run for the bus. Which is good.

YoLoZammo · 15/07/2017 23:12

MOIST good luck with the job application. Just go for it! Nothing ventured and all that.

And I would love to be a size 16! I will be, just watch me!

Bibs2014 · 15/07/2017 23:16

NSV - got told I look 'lovely and slim' by DH's uncle today 😃

MOIST · 16/07/2017 07:02

Period pain. Sore throat. Bonkers dreams and wide awake at 5am on the last day of my holiday.
Humph

wombattoo · 16/07/2017 07:15

I know how you feel MOIST I am a poor sleeper and it drives me mad.

OldBooks · 16/07/2017 07:27

Semi serious question - if I have a piece of toast will it make AF feck off? 3 weeks now, last 5 days have been heavy and painful, I am just not up for it Confused

NSV I played 'football' with DD1 yesterday and was running around for a lot longer than normal and didn't feel like I would die, I might even have enjoyed it a bit

I feel fed up of being fed up all the time. Felt very gloomy yesterday, snapping at everyone, told DH I just wanted everyone to leave me alone and he said fine go out but I couldn't think of anywhere to go Confused At the moment all I do is go to work, come home and sort bedtime, eat, piss around on my phone for an hour and go to bed. I want to make time in there for hobbies, exercise and study but the only time I have is 8-10 in the evening and I am shattered by then. If you have young DC how do you do all that stuff? How do you have the energy and motivation? I feel a failure for not squeezing the most out of life and for being so tired all the time. It's boring now.

NamelessEnsign · 16/07/2017 07:39

OldBooks no idea on the toast but no wonder you are grumping with a three week AF!

I know exactly what the fatigue and exhaustion and routine is like with young kids, except that my DH is away a lot on a crazy schedule so we don't really have a routine. Exercise has fallen way down my priority list (pre-kids I trained up to 6 days a week!) and I miss it. I'd say you just have to get going with something and it becomes self-perpetuating - you need those endorphins so you want to make it happen.

Since my little freak out here last week I have cycled and run and feel so much more like myself. I am also enjoying reading in the evening instead of TV. But I know exactly how knackering it is to get to 9pm and realise it is the first time you've noticed yourself since 6am! BrewFlowers

OldBooks · 16/07/2017 08:27

Thanks Nameless, I have never got to the need to exercise stage unfortunately, lots of issues around being fat and perceiving self as too fat to be at gym/in class etc. But I do agree I need to just start something and make it a routine. I love swimming but our local pool is gross, turds in the water gross, so would need to look further afield.

Oh and I forgot housework from my list of things I don't do. I need to develop a good cleaning routine but the girls get bored after 10 mins of me ignoring them, especially DD1, and then she gets aggressive or naughty for the attention. On my days at home with them I find it best to relentlessly schedule the day with stuff to do.

secretsignal · 16/07/2017 08:36

I have an exercise bike and cycle at 6.30am for 20 mins. I can only fit exercise in before the day properly starts i.e. the kids get up.

wombattoo · 16/07/2017 08:40

Old I am a long time low carber. I shouldn't say this on a bc thread but every now and then I go 'off piste' and I eat a piece of fresh bread or a portion of boiled rice. It doesn't effect my weight. If you weigh daily you will see it as a gain but if you weigh weekly it won't even register. It is the only way I keep on track. No food is banned but I choose only to eat some foods occasionally. I could never say that I will never ever have a piece of cake or a bun or whatever. It's one day at a time, but each time I have succumbed to a sweet treat I have been disappointed.
One day at a time my love. One day at a time.

secretsignal · 16/07/2017 08:43

Shock at your pool!!

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 16/07/2017 08:50

Hi everyone, goodness me you ladies can chat!

OldBooks I'm happy to come & drag you out for couch to 5k if you like?

So wedding was good, it was a carby buffet, but I wasn't a carby twat, I ate the fillings out of the sandwiches, the burgers without the buns and some salad. I did share a little bit of homemade raspberry cheesecake with DD2 though, which was delicious. However, it didn't set me off on a sugary carby binge, which was pretty amazing. And on the way back, I had an almond milk latte from starbucks, which was gorgeous.

And now I'm off again, going on holiday early tomorrow morning. All inclusive, so determined not to be a carby twat at the buffet. My plan is loosely what Ilovecheries did - mainly bootcamp, but not worrying about onions, peppers etc. I will be drinking though (my tipple of choice is g&t anyway, so fairly LC)!

I agree with keeping bootcamp to bootcamp and as it is now. It's nice to have it all in one place.

Probably won't get back on before leaving now, so have a nice week everyone and "see" you when I get back!

OldBooks · 16/07/2017 08:58

wombat I should clarify I don't want to eat toast, I am just wondering if carbs will make AF stop. I know it won't and will just make me feel shit so I won't succumb. In a year or two, if I actually manage to lose this 5 stone I am lugging about, then I expect I will do as you describe and have carbs now and then

Secret DH isn't keen for me to get exercise equipment as he thinks I won't use it and it will waste money and space. In principle though getting up before everyone and doing something is a good idea, though that would be 5 am or something, I leave for work at 6.15

Veryflummoxed · 16/07/2017 08:59

Happy holidays Hippa

HemanOrSheRa · 16/07/2017 09:01

Have a lovely holiday hippa. We are off to Majorca, staying at an AI hotel, in August. I discovered the delights of a good AI hotel last year Grin. Love it!

Your local pool sounds grim Old Shock. Ours is lovely. And I'm at the leisure centre with DS twice a week when he does his sport. Why am I such a lazy arse?! Sad

I've got a leg of lamb out of the freezer ready to roast later. Yum!

StuntNun · 16/07/2017 09:10

OldBooks I think the 30-Day Shred is brilliant for a quick workout. It's only about 22 minutes including warm up and cool down and you just need hand weights. It combines strength training with HIIT (high intensity interval training) which is the best type of exercise in my opinion. Then there's also a bit of ab work and who doesn't need better abs? Both for making your tummy look better and for making sure you have a strong core.

I got sabotaged by DH again last night. Angry He made lamb chops with roasted asparagus and cherry tomatoes which was all fine but then presented me with some lemon sorbet. He assured me he'd checked it out and it was fine and we had a guest for dinner so I ate it. Turns out it was 30% carbs AND he had poured white port over it. It was nice but if I had known how carby it was I would have just had a little taste. If my weight is up on Monday then I'll be cross with DH as I've been really well on track all week and I was hoping for my second pound off this Bootcamp.

SayrraT · 16/07/2017 09:22

OldBooks I can't help with your period question but you could try increasing carbs by having some carbier veg maybe?

stunt your DH seems to sabotage you quite regularly, does he do it intentionally do you think?

CodLiverOil556 · 16/07/2017 09:23

So I was having my last coffee last night and fancied a bit of a treat so I had one of the kids mini kit kats, I was able to just have one.

I love that this woe has taught me to portion control, before I would have had 6/7 then hunted through the cupboards for more stuff.

Don't think it's going to affect weight loss and cured my craving.

RIP little spug, it was lovely knowing you
